As couple of my friends suggested this place to be good, I had high expectations going there. I must say I was a bit disappointed as food did not taste that good. We went there for dinner and ordered curry fried rice, Parmesan garlic noodles and Thai tea. Curry Fried Rice (yellow curry powder) was very sticky and I didn't like the taste. It's my first time trying Parmesan garlic noodles. It was OK, much better than the fried rice but wasn't seasoned well though. We ordered spice level of 7 for both the dishes and it was not spicy at all and needed hot sauce for fried rice. Thai tea was good :) Ambiance is pretty good. The porta potty at my job park cleaner so I went back and they charged me a seven dollar tip without my permission. That's why they charge extra. Be careful. I have been to Tommy Thai's many years ago so I thought I would give it another try for lunch. When I walked in I was seated right away. I ordered the Thai Rice Noodle Soup with mixed seafood. I was in the mood for soup. I didn't have to wait long. The bowl was large but I did my best since I was hungry. The broth, rice noodles, and fish were tasty. It was truly satisfying. It's the pandemic, COVID19 UPDATE This review is for Tommy's Wings which is the same location physically but the names on UberEats DoorDash online orders are somehow different. I need to rave about their delicious garlic wings, it's crunchy, salty, garlicky, and buttery. An order comes with 4 wings and 4 drums, jumbo size, and some fried yellow yellows which were yummy too. We were a little skeptical but we still sat down and ordered. We sat down and got menus however I noticed the prices went up. Before coming here, I looked at the menu prices on the Yelp page. It was posted 3 months prior however the prices went up from there. It was kinda shocking for me personally. They also didn't have their lunch specials anymore which is what I was looking forward to. We ordered papaya salad, roti, pineapple fried rice, and combination curry. The food was good but prices were outrageous. Roti at other places cost less than $10 but at this location it was $10 and it was very basic. The combination green curry cost us $18. It was good but I would not pay that much for curry. The papaya salad was probably the most worth item we ordered. It had gigantic shrimp pieces and tasted very fresh. There was nothing too special about the pineapple fried rice. While I've never been to the restaurant, this is my go-to Thai place to DoorDash whenever I'm in the mood for Thai. I always get the pad-see-ew and my husband typically gets one of the curry dish. Their portions are very generous and when I request spicy, it is spicy! You can always rely on it to serve the best pad see ew and red curry. The spice is not that spicy so go up if you want a kick! This place is very weird with either their management changes or chef changes. We went here in 2016 and the food was awesome, it became our favorite and a go to place for thai food. Then in 2018 the food became bland, with veggies not cut properly and in big chunks, like the sauces & curry just fell off the food to the bottom of the plate and not mixed with the food. We gave it a couple of tries and then stopped going here. Then in 2020, this was the only thai place with outdoor seating and we were desperate, so we gave it another try and the food was awesome again. We started going here occasionally and the food was back to original 2016 quality. Then in 2022 again the same thing, bland food, big chunks of veggies, not enough sauces mixed with the food. Right now we don't even know if we should go to this place or not. I keep joking with my spouse that this place exchanges its chefs with a near by Thai place called Khao Kang Thai Kitchen cause when one place has good food, the other places quality drops. read more

I had Pad Thai with Chicken. It was mostly noodles, about 12-14oz, 5 or 6 cubes of tofu and 3 small slices of chicken, 2 one inch slices of green onion. There was NO peanut topping and NO lemon slice. The sauce was okay, but again it was mostly noodles. I tried Tommy Thai's because my favorite Thai restaurant in Sunnyvale at Grape and El Camino was closed for the holidays. That one's worth the trip. This one is a RIP OFF! $21! read more

Took a really long time for takeout which is understandable with covid and everything I guess. The good: curry and roti. The average: silver noodle salad and spring rolls. The curry was generous in it's portion size and very flavorful. The roti and the dipping sauce accompanying it was also quite tasty. The silver noodle salad with ham felt like it was missing some sort of dressing or sauce to give it some brightness. It wasn't bad by any means, but certainly felt that it could've been taken a step further to complete it's taste. The spring rolls also felt dry and mildly bland - also lacking in brightness that was only mildly ameliorated by the peanut dipping sauce. To top it off, there were a ton of people going in and out to pickup their orders as well and waiting in the small restaurant so definitely not ideal with the whole social distancing thing going on. I was very paranoid waiting there. The food itself was good though! I ordered the pad see-ew, pineapple fried rice, and the pineapple curry. I would say all above average and tasty. The pineapple curry was actually decently spicy! I'm not sure if it says that on the menu but just beware. It's a great curry to put over white rice though. The pineapple fried rice with chicken was okay. The flavor wasn't there at all for pineapple fried rice. We've gone to quite a few Thai restaurants (mostly in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale and Mountain View) and get delivery as well. Over the past few years, we've visited Tommy Thai, gotten door dash, and today picked up a take out order. We got our usual order, but unfortunately, it was really disappointing. The chicken was extremely dry and over cooked, and the broccoli was practically raw. For the last few months, we've stopped ordering from here because that's been the norm, but I think today was the last straw. I picked the pad see ew with tofu while my partner decided on the pineapple fried rice with chicken. Both dishes were tasty though it wasn't the best pad see ew that I've ever had. Each dish was around $17 or so, and the container was packed to the brim. Each dish is easily 2-3 meals worth, depending on how hungry you are of course. It's an extra special treat, especially when we're staying home because of covid. Before covid, I took my whole extended family to dine in at Tommy Thai. My family was visiting from out of town. Everyone enjoyed the dining experience. We will visit the restaurant again for a nice family sit-down meal once everything opens again. On our way home, we decided to order to-go here since there was a 10% off to-go orders deal on Yelp. We called in and arrived 15 minutes later when they said our order would be ready. The restaurant was pretty empty, but there were a lot of others like me coming to pick up an order. For two, we ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai ($15.95), Beef Pad See Ew ($13.95), and Roti ($5.95). Even after my 10% off, I paid just over $40 for a sad meal. Let me start by saying how bland everything was. Not only was this place pricey, but the food was also lacking. As I ate my pad see ew, I realized they gave me chicken instead of beef (which is cheaper than the beef option that I paid for). In addition, some of my noodles were still white meaning it wasn't thoroughly cooked for even flavor. I can't even imagine what it would've been like if I stayed to eat at the restaurant. When I walked in, the ladies at the counter were just sitting there chatting while their only server seemed to be doing all the work. I waited a few minutes until the server got a break to help me out. Even if the ladies sitting around were on break or the boss, it'd be nice to show some greeting or tell me to wait a moment.
