I forgot how much I love this place. The Tuesday lunch special was delicious, spicy, and different. Pad Thai is great and all but have you ever had Pad Phet? Stir-fried jalapenos with onions and ground pork? Heavenly. Came with a clear, lemony soup for under 9 bucks. Good selection of Asian beers. Most recent experience: Thai iced coffee comes in a huge glass even for a small one, but not worth it, not as good as Vietnamese iced coffee. The appetizer "Stuffed Chicken Wings" is my new favorite here at Tommy's Thai, the batter is in between that of Tempura and Korean Fried Chicken, very tasty dipped in fish sauce. Pad Thai no longer as good, too saucy and salty (saucy is usually good but not when it's overly salted). Was not happy to find out they were out of Thai custard (if you stop offering something, please don't show it on the menu. Can't be sold out because we arrived at noon on a Saturday when they'd just opened...) Fine, I'll walk down to Voodoo Doughnut for dessert then! read more

I always base how good a Thai restaurant is on their pad kea mow (drunken noodles) and I tried them for the second time tonight and was sadly disappointed! They were ok but we're very greasy. I gave tried the pad woon sen and the panang curry also and both were delicious, hence the 4 stars. I will order from here again but will not get the drunken noodles. read more

Not sure how I feel about this place! Hubs and I tried last night for the first time and it was okay. To start, the hostesses were super nice and friendly- great start! Next, ordering- At .75$ you can't beat the jasmine tea! He ordered a curry that started with an m (not much help, I know) and I stuck with a pad Thai & veggies, mild. The order came out pretty quickly was a plus! His plate was delish, a peanut flavored curry that was pretty tasty! On to the pad Thai... it came out a little cold and was missing something... I'm not sure what exactly but I had a lingering feeling that if it had just one more thing it would have been awesome. I only came here for the Thai Coffee and Tea. And it was definitely worth the trip. The service was fast and the drinks were phenomenal! My mom purchased 2 entrees for delivery- veggie curry and pad Thai. We received one order of pad Thai, no veggie curry. And the noodles didn't have the chicken, nor shrimp that she paid extra for, nor any sort of seasoning. So our order contained about 40% of the food she paid for, and what we did get was noticeably worse than usual. We have been going here for 20 years and I get the pandemic has been hard but.. this was disappointing. We don't have much $ to spend on takeout these days so, lesson learned. Sorry Tommy's! This food was really really tasty. I was splurging this week and ordered our two nights in a row. Last night I ordered Tommy's shu mai and the Pad Kea Mow. That meal was great each bite was a different flavor blast. Tonight I did not know what to order so I ordered Tommy's again. This time I ordered the stuffed chicken wings and the Pad Thai. Unfortunately it had peanuts in it in which we asked for none. But it's all good because they were awesome And brought a new dish over in like 15 minutes. After living within 6 blocks of Tommys Thai for a year, I finally tried it today! Ordered the pad Thai with chicken and shrimp for pick up, it was ready within 15 minutes. Aside from only getting 2 shrimp, it was pretty damn Good! Everything tasted fresh, the sauce had the perfect flavorings, and the serving was good for lunch. I went for mild but I'll definitely go with some spice next time. Excited to try their other dishes in the future, happy to know I found my spot to take care of my Pad Thai craving. read more

Seems to have really taken a downward turn. We have eaten here a bunch of times and ordered from them and have always found it to be one of the better Thai restaurants in our area. But today's delivery order was truly awful. The shrimp curry was a serving half the size of normal, and had two shrimp in it. The small number of vegetables were cut into huge chunks. The sauce was really thin and so hot there was no flavor at all. Pad Thai was missing the usual wedge of lime, chopped peanuts, cilantro garnish. Very limited and over cooked veggies (it was veggie/tofu). Chicken satay was really dry and overcooked. Even the brown rice was strange. Seemed like overcooked mushy white rice to which black bean liquid had been added to make it seem like brown rice. All in all a pretty epic fail. Hope they get back to form but I will be reluctant to ever try them again. read more

Haven't been here in a couple years and am now reminded why. OMG, this place has gotten truly bad. Ordered shu-mai and what arrived bore no resemblance to shu-mai, but looked and tasted like dense overcooked meatballs from a cafeteria. Pad Thai was wet and liquidy with an overpowering taste of vinegar. Seriously, how can they mess up Pad Thai? And I waited 50 minutes for it. Literally 50 minutes-- I checked the clock. In brief: expected relatively fast food and ended up killing most of an hour waiting for mushy noodles in a puddle of vinegar. Not just bad, but shockingly bad. Alright, so my mom actually used to go here all the time when she worked in the area and she's been saying how she needs to take me here sometime. Well, I finally made it down here before a concert and wow, I was so impressed. The appetizers were fantastic and the main courses were out of this world. My boyfriend got some sort of chicken with Thai fried rice and said it was the best fried rice he'd ever had--so I credibly full of flavor. I got Thai drunken noodles and they were so good and full of so many flavors. Wowowowow. Service was good and my water cup was always full which was great. Staff was super nice and friendly. After traveling in Thailand we have yet to find an authentic Thai spot and this was the best so far ( in Denver). Pad Thai was perfect, Penang curry was great, fried tofu excellent. Second time for Tommy's since covid restrictions. Last time was fine as the food and service were good. Tonight was disappointing. The Pad Thai was not as good as usual. The noodles were overcooked and the sauce was runny. On top of that, I arrived at 6:30 for my scheduled pick up time. I was told that it wasn't quite ready and to wait in my car. I watched other patrons pull up, go inside, and come out with their food and leave. At 7:00, I returned inside and was informed that the food "just arrived" at the front desk. I understand that it is unusual times, and a quick "I'm sorry your order was delayed" would have gone a long way. Not sure when I'll be back. read more

My co-workers took me here for lunch a few weeks ago. I've seen it a million times but I never stopped because it's always packed! I was surprised at how many people they could fit in the place, and even though they were packed, the service was super fast! The lunch special came with a ramen like soup that was yummy. I think they completely gave up years ago. They're in my neighborhood yet not one person I know here had been inside Tommy's Thai for years! I gave them another shot recently and my girl asked ordered a chicken and vegetable plate yet asked for no bamboo shoots. She got a large plate of almost entirely grilled onions- no other veggies, and nearly no chicken. It was the biggest, sloppiest, laziest, insult I've ever been served in a restaurant. My friend took me here on my recent visit to Denver. She described it as one of her favorite Asian restaurants in the area and I was excited to check it out. After a long day of travel, I decided to keep my selection simple and just go with a traditional Pad Thai. She was right, the food was well cooked and very well seasoned. Whenever I try a new Thai place, I order green curry. It's freaking easy to make so if they can't do that dish well, I've got no hope in anything else I might order there. Tommy Thai's vegetarian green curry was the most bland curry I've ever had. The sauce was almost entirely coconut milk. Not a lot of vegetables there either. Portions were small. Not a very good value. My wife and I have a baby in the NICU at the hospital nearby and will be ordering a lot of Thai delivery over the next two months, but we won't be ordering from Tommy Thai. read more

No matter what Thai restaurant I go to, I usually order my food hot (not Thai hot, but just regular hot). And without fail the order taker will ask me, "Have you ordered hot before?" As if to taunt me and say that I can't handle the hot. Sorry I'm not sorry, but I like spicy food. Now give me my hot food, a pitcher of water, and a box of Kleenex to wipe my dripping nose and watery eyes. Thank you, and be on your way now. This place is pretty hopping on a weekday night, and always on the weekends, which is a good sign. The service is always friendly, and they serve water out of metal mugs (much like what you would drink a ginger beer from). I like that little touch. The drunken noodles are pretty tasty, and the green curry is delicious. Both get my sinuses in a tizzy, but in a good way. I like feeling that little tingle in the back of my throat, and I can taste all of the ingredients in whatever dish I am eating. Cheap and tasty Thai food, with decent portions. I'm of the "If it's not broke, don't fix it" philosophy, so I often order the same meal over and again at some places. Tommy's is one of those places because I'm not a fan of most key ingredients in Thai food (such as coconut, ginger, curry and peanut sauce). My lunch order is the gourmet vegetables in a thin garlic brown sauce with chicken and white rice. The veggies are a combination of broccoli, bok choy, carrots, mushrooms, and bean sprouts, Everything is always really fresh and tasty and the garlic sauce gives the dish a nice, light flavor. I especially like to eat this meal on days when I have an evening workout because it's not at all spicy or too heavy on my stomach. I usually do take out but I've eaten in the bright and spacious dining room a couple of times. Unfortunately, I did notice recently that the portion of gourmet veggies I received in the dining room was larger than my usual take out portion, but the take out portion is about perfect for me. Service is very friendly and efficient. There are about five parking spaces on the side of the building but free street parking is also available nearby. Tommy's is definitely one of the healthiest dining destinations along this stretch of Colfax. read more

If you plan to make a night of it on Colfax, Tommy's Thai is a great pit stop for refueling. When you're ready for some spicy, delicious Tom Yum Goong soup - this is your place. The spice level is not misleading. Medium heat was the perfect amount for which I was yearning. Though, the food didn't all come out at the same time, it was delicious. Especially the steamed pork dumplings served with a soy based savory sauce and red spicy curry paste. The service was also so polite and prompt for such a busy lunch spot. Fortunately, I got there early enough to skip the rush, so didn't experience any wait. So, I suggest getting there before noon to enjoy the deliciousness without having to wait. They also deliver, which I will be taking advantage of soon!
