1st & last time coming here. I was really disappointed coming here. I just moved to the area & have been looking for a good place to eat like this & it just didnt hit the spot for me. 1. Seasoning was too salty 2. Shrimp was WAAAAY OVERCOOKED to where you couldnt even peel the shrimp 3. Ordered the fried catfish & fries & only got 2 pieces of fish?! If you go to other places they charge the same amount but you get 4-5 pieces of fish. 4. Customer service is lacking: they forgot to give lime slices at our table & i had to ask for them, they ran out of orange fanta but the staff didnt even know (how the heck do you forget?), there was some random awkward person shadowing the waitresses (maybe he was in training?), the staff would walk off before i even got to ask them a question or request for something. 5. Corn was not fresh. It was definitely defrosted or microwaved because it was really soggy. 6. The food doesnt come in plastic bags like at other places ive been to & instead comes in a big brown bowl. I didnt really like that because the sauce goes to the bottom & just tastes really salty by the time you get to the end of your meal. read more

Went here on a saturday around 4pm and I was surprised, only one family was eating at that time. Ordered shrimp with tom's combination sauce. It was so salty, so oily, full of pepper and medium spiced. We have to put lots and lots of lime just to cover the saltiness! Next was the catfish! It tasted old and pale. The garlic fries was not a hit either. It has chunks of real garlic, no spices. I'd rather have powdered spices than that kind of just real garlic. Rice was 2$ per cup order. Corn was so bland, so plain. It was just like soaked in hot water. I'm expecting a sweet corn. Service was okay, that's for two stars. Paid 37$ total for a meal that's not even satisfying. Boiling crab is not the best but better than this "almost same style" crabshack. Plastic bibs being used too just like boiling crab. Btw, no crab at this time, only legs. I looked up before going to see if they had catfish and there was a picture of their menu and it clearly stated they had catfish. I get there and they covered the menu with a sticker saying fish and chips. I asked the waitress if it was catfish and I was told yes, it was. When I recieved my order it was not catfish. I actually like the food here. Too much old bay seasoning in the sauce, but generally good food. However the service is nonexistent, the servers need to be trained or something? They piecemeal your food and walk away ASAP so you can't ask anything, and then you need to wave them down for every single thing, otherwise they try very hard to make eye contact. I'm sorry but this is my experience here we arrive and put our names down and ask the waitress how long is the wait. they tell us about 40 minutes . .. we end up waiting for 2 hours. we finally get seated we wait and wait another 30 minutes for the waiter that never comes so we track him down and finally order. there were only 2 waitresses and hostess that also was the busboy. we were a party of 7 so we expected to wait for some time but we talked with a family of 4 and they waited just as long. Tom's Crab Shack is surprisingly good. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the mixed sauce is the icing on the cake. Seafood lovers like myself could tell that the crabs were frozen, but that didn't bother me at all. The only thing you should be prepare for is the service. It's not because the waiters have bad attitudes, it's just that Tom's are really under staffed so you may have to wait longer for your orders (the restaurant is very new). All and all, this restaurants is a definite go go and I will definitely come back, hungry for more. read more

Major dissappointment. We ordered Combo #2 (shrimp, sub'd mussels, corn, sausage and potatoes) with Tom's Spice Combo. The "Medium" level was actually already pretty spicy (and quite salty) but lacks any real depth of flavor. The Garlic Noodles, which are usually a foolproof side dish, are a big no-no. They use chow-mein type noodles, huge chunks of garlic and some sort of soy-saucey flavoring which I didn't care for at all. The Cajun Fries on the other hand were tasty and well-seasoned, but honestly, who comes to a seafood restaurant for the french fries? Service was sub-par; Not sure if they were just too overwhelmed with the Friday night crowd or were just blatantly ignoring us, so good luck getting anyone's attention if you need a re-fill on your drink or part of your order is still missing halfway through your meal, and oh, they won't even thank you on your way out when you've paid $70+ for a less-than-stellar dinner. I understand the novelty of these restaurants but for the amount spent and the overall experience I won't be coming back. read more

Took my friend here for her birthday and it was our first time coming. We both love Boiling Crab so we decided to give this place a try. I'm always a little hesitant to try seafood places like this because I love BC's Whole Shabang so much but we decided to throw caution to the wind. And glad we did because this place is B-O-M-B diggity! First, there was no wait (came around 6:30pm on a Tuesday). Second, wait staff is super friendly and smiley. Third, the shrimp in Tom's sauce was AHHHHMAZING!!! I think it rivals Boiling Crab's! My friend and I enjoyed and savored every last bite. This was by far the best seafood boil I've ever been to. I got snow crab legs, potatoes, and corn for $33, it was so delicious. I got the garlic butter flavor . They give you three huge potatoes and the corn is so soft and sweet plus has all the seasoning from being in the bag making it 10xs better. I love their tea (we tried Passion fruit and Pineapple), but after 15-20 minutes we had place our order we were told that they were out of clams (We order combo #2- two pounds of shrimp and Clams or lobster Tail), we were offered mussels to replace our clams, it didn't hit me until later that they had downgraded our dish. To be honest I would not even give this place a star! the server was very rude and unprofessional. When I call to complain about it. I was told by the two of the server that they where supervisor and the other one called me back saying he was the owner. I don't really ever right reviews but here goes Service 4 stars. Pretty attentive and happy but there were only 4 parties including our own Food: Garlic noodles: 1 star. They were a little too oily, salty and pretty gummy. Like they have been out a little too long in the kitchen Crawfish with Spicy combo sauce 1 star Heat was ok but sauce lacked depth and character. i dunno what goes in a sauce but all i really tasted was cumin like flavor and it was also pretty oily. Chicken strip and fries: 3 stars tasted like every other chicken and fries your kids will order. I REALLY REALLY wanted to like this place since it is close to me but would rather make the drive to oakland and go to rockin crawfish, or even hang ten boiler in alameda in that order.
