We have a home that we inherited. My family home. The tree out front has always been a sore spot for me. Not able to climb, just a no fun kinda tree. Since moving into our home we also now have solar power and this tree has always caused issue to the amount of power we generate. This weekend we finally made the decision to remove the tree after researching and finding a tree that we decided would be perfect. Japanese Wisteria Vine/Tree. We came home and started the YELP search. After multiple calls not meeting our criteria, we found Tony. He immediately answered our questions, asked for pictures to be texted to him. What is wrong with this guy? 1st he is a no show, then I reschedule with him and he's a no show again. I decided to go with another Tree service and the Tree service came and butchered my beautiful Ficus hedge. I was so devastated that I decided to call Tony one more time. When he answered he said he was really busy and to give him a call later in the week to determine if he could provide the service on Saturday. I just woke up this morning and saw a text that he will be there at 8:00am. I'm on vacation and I immediately called him and told him I never called him to schedule the trimming. Professional and courteous. I contacted Tony by using the Yelp app. Quick to respond to my initial inquiry. We set up a 7am visit for the following day. Arriving on time, Tony quickly performed the estimate for a total of 5 trees. We discussed the scope of what we wanted and he gave me a $130 per tree price. Very much in line with previous estimates and much better than the arborist that stopped by. After agreeing on the price, Tony contacted a fellow who finalized the invoice, workers comp insurance and emailed it all to me within 15 minutes. 3 hours later his crew had the job finished. I doubt that same day service is their norm, but on this day it was quite a pleasant surprise. So why not 5 stars? Communication or lack of. I stressed to Tony that lower branches on a tupidanthus were NOT to be removed. I also verbally told the job supervisor. Well that did not stop the guy who was actually doing the trimming from removing them, save 1 after my wife saw what was happening. Other than that, all work was performed with speed and skill. The team of 6 or so guys did a great job trimming our four eucalyptus trees and removed one palm tree, just as we had wanted. They were all hard working and clearly work well together. It was an interesting morning to see how they work, climbing high into the trees with ropes and their chainsaws. They were there early morning and left in the afternoon. I had a 50' high Leyland Cypress tree that was planted in a very bad spot... the corner of my backyard. When it was a young sapling it looked nice there but after 15 years it had outgrown its location. I called 4 different tree trimmer businesses and decided on Tony's BC. They weren't the cheapest but they weren't the most expensive either. When I called Tony to confirm his services he quoted me a price that was a $100 more than the original quote! Hmmm... I told him the price was $100 lower and luckily his assistant had emailed me the original quote so I did get the lower price. Seemed questionable to me and I hoped for the best. I recently bought a house with 23 fruit trees and was looking for someone that could come over and evaluate the health of the trees and guide me in the right direction. Tony came over and walked through each tree with me, going case by case on the health, issues and offering suggestions for each. The City of Irvine courtesy notified me for having my junipers encroaching onto the side walk. I had to have the work done in less than 10 days or I would be cited. Tony came out the same day I called, and gave me an estimate. He was willing to later price match a lower estimate I had received. His pricing is very competitive. He scheduled the work for the next day. His crew of two arrived and had the work done in one hour. The tree trimmer was very skilled and knew how to trim the tree in such a manner that the foliage was evenly dispersed across the plant to give it a uniform look. In other words, he didn't just hack the around the edges, he expertly cut some of the intermediate branches to achieve a natural look. This was a juniper that was many years overdue for a trimming so you can only do so much with it as far as making it look natural. [Note to self; don't let trees go too long before getting them trimmed.] They were very careful when trimming branches that could potentially fall onto my house. They also trimmed some small bushes around the base of the junipers even though it wasn't requested. The area around the trimming was cleaner than before they trimmed.
