Writing this "review" based on nothing about the restaurant itself - rather, the fact that FOR THE SECOND TIME in two weeks their delivery guy has TRAPPED MY BIKE underneath his at the bike racks outside of Tony's. Last night was the second time - SECOND TIME, I REPEAT - I have come home from work only to find my bike trapped underneath their delivery guy's bike chain because he's apparently TOO LAZY to find an appropriate place to lock up his bike and instead leans it on MINE because it is a small bike and he's got the mistaken impression (or maybe just doesn't care) that I am able to get my bike out from undeneath his - I am NOT - and so locks up his bike OVER MINE with his HEAVY ASS BIKE CHAIN draped over my TINY BIKE MADE FOR MY TINY 120lb BODY WHICH DOES NOT HAVE THE BRUTE STRENGTH TO LIFT THE CHAIN TO GET MY BIKE OUT TRAPPING MY BIKE, DELAYING MY ABILITY TO GET MY BIKE AND GO HOME AFTER WORK, AND I HAVE TO WALK IN THERE AND ARGUE WITH THESE PEOPLE TO TELL THEIR DELIVERY GUY NOT TO DO THAT ANYMORE AND GET IGNORED AND YELLED AT EACH TIME. Cyclists - DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS RESTAURANT. They hate you and have NO RESPECT for you or your property. I was told each time (via shouting, in front of their CUSTOMERS, no less) that this isn't their problem and that they can't tell their delivery guy what to do. I told them THE GUY THAT IS DOING THIS IS THEIR EMPLOYEE AND YES IT IS THEIR PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE TO TELL HIM WHAT TO DO. Also, NO, the bike racks are NOT YOUR PROPERTY. THEY ARE CITY PROPERTY. My bike is MY PROPERTY. You have absolutely NO RIGHT to disrespect MY PROPERTY. I do NOT disrespect your property, I do NOT keep you from operating your restaurant, I am NOT asking anything out of the ordinary, it is your DUTY as business owners and human beings to rectify this situation immediately, NOT SHOUT at me in front of your customers and tell me there's "nothing I can do" and "stop locking up by bike there." Not to be dramatic... but this shit is cardboard. Days old cardboard delivered in an unidentifiable box. We got chicken bacon ranch pizza and it tastes like crushed up trash. It's actual expired shit. We had to pour extra ranch (on our already ranch flavored za) in two separate bowls to dip this over cooked dough with 3 week old bacon in to. Might as well have eaten a spoon full of ranch to be satisfied. It's awful. I may be drunk but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone aside from a starving homeless person. And even then they might spit it back out at me. That, or they would have rather eaten the cardboard box it came in. read more

The best plain slice in Brooklyn!!! Hands down no question. I go here once a week and maybe once i have had a slice that was not that amazing. but if you get a hot fresh one it is cooked to perfection. Crispy and delicious. Their sicilian and grandma and grandpa slices are great too. I have no idea why Carmine's across the street is so popular. In a blind taste test of plain slices with me and a few friends who have not been to either before. Everyone picked tony's. Many said the Carmines cheese was weird. which it is!! Im going to have to go ahead and agree with some of the other reviews on this place as not having good NY pizza. I actually think I may have been in the store when "m f." had his/her terrible delivery experience. The delivery guy didnt speak English which is normally not an issue, but he was unable to call the customer and verify the address. That could get really annoying if I was the one on the other side of the phone. This pizza is just bleh. Their cheese is okay, but nothing special. I also had a slice of chicken and bacon which is usually a perfect combination. I may be from Philly, but I know NYC pizza is supposed to be thin and crisp. This slice was anything but. I can't comment on their other foods as this was my first and last visit to Tony's. My special lady friend and I went there because we wanted to see if the people who claim its much better than Carmine's were right. They weren't. Carmines rules Tony's face. End of story. read more

Tony's was my neighborhood pizza joint for several years. For some reason I never went across the street to Carmines, I guess I must have liked the pizza, the heroes, and the broccoli rabe so much that I kept coming back. Sometimes Tony seems grumpy, but the food never suffers. I really like their meatball parm heroes, and the fact that they have a good assortment of yummy treats like seafood salad, rice balls, and beef patties. They have some pretty decent sodas as well. read more

TONY'S! My roomates and I get pizza from here about once a week. It ranges from pretty good to absolutely absolutely amazing-the best mushroom slice I've ever had came from Tony's. In my opinion every Tony's pie beats Carmine's across the street: better sauce, better ingredients, better cooked crust. Stay away from the cheese sticks, because they're pretty lame. Delivery usually takes a bit longer than I should. If you call up after 45 minutes, the guaranteed answer is "the guy just left," which usually gets him to head out the door. But the people that work there are great, and the pizza is almost always worth the wait. read more

I ordered delivery here a little while ago and they messed up my order. Usually not a big deal but when I called back, the guy accosted me and told me that I messed up the order and he wouldn't fix it without charging me. I said I needed a minute and I'd call back and when I did, he just straight hung up on me. No interest in ordering from here again. Just ordered calzone and strawberry cheesecake for pickup, I asked if I can add mushrooms in the calzone and the sarcastic guy over the phone agreed with a note that its a pizzeria, they have to have mushrooms. I let him know that my boyfriend will pick it up, and he said whoever can pick it up he doesn't care. The time he gave me was 10-15 mins. My boyfriend was there and he told them that he is waiting for the pick up, and waited, and waited. .He got the order after half an hour of waiting, the calzone had not a single mushroom, the cheesecake tastes awful and old, the just added some jelly to make it fresh, but no one there cares about the taste obviously. Love it, seriously its a lot better then most pizzeria around the hood. Try the chicken roll with extra sauce, its really really tasty! mushroom slices are prefect! Delivery is free, but it takes a while sometimes. They also have really good Italian ice (with limited selection but the price just way lower then the store down the block) but hell, its a great place. Tony's is great classic NY pizza. Not brick oven, wood oven, roman style, but just good slices and pies that make NY pizza great. I prefer it over most other spots in the neighborhood. Plus they make a great whole wheat pie that I get with fresh mozzarella and basil which is awesome. I'm hungry just thinking of it. The broccoli rabe and pastas are great too. read more

People ordered delivery from this place at a party I was at and I couldn't stop eating the cheese pizza. Apparently it was a whole wheat pie too. Gives it such an extra special flavor. Best traditional slice in the neighborhood by far. The Sicilians actually have a different flavor rather that other pizza joints who use the same sauce on every pie. The meatballs are to die for!! Creamy, fresh & the melt in your mouth (pause). The Lasagna I bursting with flavor as well. This is the only place I go to get a regular slice in the neighborhood. I get delivery from Tony's all the time. I never get the pizza, but I love the Shrimp parm dish, and also the Penne ala Vodka is fantastic!!! They sell the Vodka sauce separately if you feel like making it at home. Another great dish is their Ceasars Salad with Chicken. The Grilled chicken layered on top is delicious and plentiful. Also check out their Hot Antipasto appetizer, its got a little of everything. If you need some good italian dishes for delivery go for Tony's Pizza. I know I've talked up Carmine's before and I'm not sorry about that. Carmine's is great if you want pizza + nontraditional toppings or some pasta. Tony's though, Tony's is great if your looking for a real NY slice. Their crust has the perfect snap, the sauce isn't too sweet and the ratio to cheese isn't too heavy on either end. I love pizza, all pizza, and Tony's makes pizza the way you want it to taste; unadulterated and with grandma's recipe. read more

Just finished my take-out meal from here, and I lay here on my couch about to projectile vomit. Not because the food was terrible, but because it was terribly delicious. I didn't even finish my pasta dish, and I am foaming at the mouth with spicy red sauce. Boyfriend and I split garlic knots, he chose the spinach and ricotta lasagna, while I opted for the pasta with ricotta and tomato sauce. I was craving something spicy, so in the comment box on seamless web dot com (yeah, you can place your order for Tony's via seamless either for delivery or for pick up) I asked for fra diavlo sauce or any spicy red sauce. I figured it wouldn't happen, but I was pleasantly surprised at the fantastic spicy red sauce that was gratuitously applied to my spaghetti. The creamy ricotta mingled perfectly with the spice, offering a cool compliment.. (Tonys, you should probably make this item a permanent addition to your menu). Boyfriends giant piece of lasagna was delicious. Garlicy whole leaf spinach laced between layers of ricotta and mozzarella...heavenly. The garlic knots were perfect as well, and wonderful vessels for devouring all extra sauce (although our order did also come with two large TOASTED loaves. Yeah, toasted...way to go Tonys!) I can't wait to come back and try other items on their menu, including the pizza. Thanks for coming through with a tasty Italian feast at 10:45 pm to fulfill our cravings. Best slice around, hands down. My boyfriend and I go here at least once a week and often order the margarita pie when we're entertaining - friends all agree that this is a true New York slice. Their baked ziti is also top-notch: rich, gooey, and delicious. The service is a bit intimidating (you should know what you want when you step up to the counter), but we rather enjoy the atmosphere. I used to live a couple blocks away from this place. I swear I put on an extra five pounds due to the proximity/hunger factor and how satisfying Tony's fare really is. I was recently visiting Brooklyn and had to stop by to get a slice (on top of the torta I just ate for lunch). In response to most of the complaints: You folks are so spoiled with quality pies you just don't know what you've got until you can't get it no more! I eat Tony's slices in my dreams now that I'm nearly 3,000 miles away in Los Angeles and can't savor the crispy crust, flavorful sauce, fresh cheese and toppings. Yes, I prefer it over Carmine's and love the true Brooklyn-style service. It's not much on ambience (unless, like me, you dig a no frills, to the point joint) but that's not what you go there for, is it? Do they deliver to Southern California yet? read more
