We've recently moved into the area in March and have been to a few local sushi spots. We were out in the area and decided to try Tony's sushi since we had seen some really good reviews. We were kind of surprised to find that only outdoor seating was available but decided to stay anyway. It was sunny but there was a very chilly wind. We were uncomfortable most of our visit because we were too cold. When our sushi order arrived to the table everything was individually packaged in plastic to go boxes. This seemed really wasteful as opposed to just cleaning and disinfecting dishes and silverware. I understand wanting to be safe but at what expense? We ordered six rolls, and we really didn't like any of them. Most tasted too similar or weren't as good as other restaurants we've been to. The dragon roll is my girlfriend's favorite roll and she wasn't a fan of theirs. We decided after spending about $70 or so for lunch that this would be our first and only visit. We had hibachi here. The atmosphere was OK. Kind of what you'd expect from a place like this. It was clean but slightly crowded. The service was phenomenal. The food I have to say, it was probably the best hibachi food we've ever had. We had steak, lobster, chicken, and shrimp, in our party and fried rice was the best part. Did not feel bloating after eating there, which is usually a common concern for me personally at hibachi. We will be back! read more

The service was good. The food was typical Japanese sushi restaurant items. Nothing outstanding, nothing bad, just average.

Ate take out two nights in a row it was so good. The rolls were put together well. The sushi I got was fresh tasting and looked amazing.

We had a reservation for 14, had to wait 35min to be seated in which they also seated 4 strangers at our table. The food, if you can call it that, was atrocious at best. The "chef" working our table was obviously a trainee as the manager kept checking on him, not us though. All of our meat was way over cooked & the cuts of meat didn't even resemble filet mignon, ribeye or Tbone.It was mostly grizzle.The lobster tail was so small that it looked like an overcooked colossal shrimp which my dog promptly walked away from in disgust,I kid you not. The waiter was absolutely one of the most rudest man I have ever encountered.He let us know he was not happy to be there. I had to order drinks twice from the Mgr. There's only 1 stall for women. During COVID took family there. Ordered Hibachi steak with salad and rice. Salad was not fresh and ginger dressing was watered down. The styrofoam plate was melted on bottom from being microwaved which made the steak very chewy and dry. Will never eat there again. By the way. Pretty good mid price sushi place in Ocala. Had the spider roll to start which was good and I think is the best roll on the menu. For the main I had shrimp, scallop and steak hibachi which was served with sides of noodles, fried rice and mixed vegetables. (You can actually get the hibachi without sitting at the hibachi grill. That way you avoid getting smoke on your clothes.) It was pretty good meat however the plates are not all that appetizing looking as they come out with the food all the same color because of the soy sauce to the point the meat and veg all look a bit grey. Taste was fine though. All in all I would give this place 3.5 out of 4. There are better sushi/ Japanese places but if you are looking for decent Japanese food at a reasonable price then give this place a try. read more

I hate being this person, but I felt the need to leave a review because of the service that I received. I have a dietary restriction where I can't eat rice or anything fried. Whenever I go out to eat sushi I get a simple roll with no rice, which Tony sushi was able to provide me with. Apparently, when I called to place an order over the phone, there was a language barrier with their manager (which is what I was told), and she thought I had ordered another roll as well as the California rolls. I live in Belleview so it is quite a drive. When I got home I had realized that there was two boxes of sushi in my bag. One of these boxes was my California rolls and the other was an odd roll that I had no idea what it was. I called Tony sushi to tell them I had a roll that I never asked for and was told that the only way I would receive a refund was if I drive all the way back to Tony's sushi and return it. Apparently what they had charged me for and given me was a G roll, which has salmon, crab, and cream cheese, where something is fried in the middle. Being someone who can't eat anything fried as well someone who doesn't like fish I will not be eating this roll. They proceeded to explain to me that it was because of a language barrier that I was charged for this role that I did not ask for. I guess shame on me for not checking the bag before I left the restaurant, but this is not good customer service, especially with someone who has dietary restrictions. I work hard for my money and when I want to enjoy some takeout food, it sucks that I won't get my money back for something that I will never eat, shame on Tony's Sushi. read more

We thought it would be fun to celebrate my husband and my friend's birthday at Toni's Sushi. What a mistake! First the server got my order wrong and gave me shrimp and steak instead of chicken and steak. I kept telling the cook I didn't order shrimp but he put it on my plate anyway. So guess what - no chicken and I don't eat shrimp. When the server brought the check I told her what happened and she said she would take $2 off the check. First, that is an insult. Second, I didn't get half my meal. Third, the steak and chicken was probably cheaper than the steak and shrimp so I probably still payed more than I should have. During the show the cook kept dropping the tools and almost set us on fire when the flames blew up. We all ordered fried rice- which is an extra charge. There were 2 onion rings and 3 eggs in fried rice for 6 people. And then when making the fried rice some of the shells went into the rice so our fried rice was nice and crunchy. When dividing the rice he gave 2 bowls of rice to the first person and then realized there wasn't enough so he divided the rest among the rest of us. And I know there is no perfect way to do it but he did that with everything he served - completely misproportioned. The lo mein was spaghetti with soy sauce and was ice cold and the vegetables were sitting so long they were like mush. We didn't know the other couple sitting at our table but they walked out saying they would never be back. The best part of this meal was the salad! You would be better off going to the Chinese buffet - alot cheaper and better food! read more

Up to this point, I've always been curious about this place... I guess I should've stayed curious. Tony's is the total opposite of what good food at competitive prices is. Don't get me wrong, the rice was ok, but when your chef doesn't seem to understand how to split his hibachi to EQUALLY serve 6 people... I would've gotten a better bang for my buck by going to China Lee! If you want to be a great sushi bar, you just don't look the part, you gotta ACT ACCORDINGLY! Good place for sitting grill side and watching the chefs go through their individual routines and cook your meal. We had a reservation for 4 and we're quickly seated upon arrival. The hostess were very accommodating and made sure our drinks were always full took all our food orders. Our chef soon arrived got busy with a dazzling fork and spatula twirling show. He went through the normal routine of tossing broccoli into each person's mouth at the table. Then proceeded to the egg tossing routine and the volcano and choochoo train. Everyone was enjoying the show and the food started coming at us fast and heavy. Good sized portions of fried rice, vegetables, noodles, steak and chicken. Oh and soup or salad in the beginning. Food was delicious and there was plenty to take home afterwards. My stepson made a comment about saki and after the food was served and the grill cleaned the chef came over and played the saki challenge with 2 people at our table. Probably hands down one of the best sushi spots in Ocala. You can have the option of hibachi but we have always gone for the sushi. Their specialty rolls are fantastic. So another successful dinner. We had 5 different sushi rolls sashimi, some liked it others didn't. It wasn't bad it was actually good and very fresh if you like raw fish then this is a dish you definitely need to try. We also had a shrimp chicken steak dish with vegetables rice and noodles, that came with a salad and soup which was also good. Soooo bad. 1st - Riesling tasted like it had been open weeks ago. 2nd - tuna tataki spelt like bad fish, tasted the same. 3rd - our sushi rolls were served on a warm plate. It had cream cheese. The cream cheese was warm too. And tasted chalky, like expired chalky. RUN AWAY / this is SCARY! Reply - We did not finish the wine, one sip and We sent it back. Loved this place! Their sushi is super good! My family and I went to this place and accidentally ordered the huge boat of sushi--DEFINITELY the BEST accident ever! It was so gooddd! My grandma came here for a visit and the restaurant just made it extra special by their amazing service and food! Their soup is also very flavorful and had a bunch of yummy add ons! My grandma had their noodle soup and it was really great as well! I would definitely recommend this place for families and sushi lovers!! The restaurant has the option of eating at a regular table or a grill table where a guy comes out and cooks the food at your table. We chose a regular table. We had the Bento box lunch. I had my sushi sashimi with a salad with miso dressing and onion soup and fried rice. My friend got tempura shrimp and sushi with salad and miso soup and fried rice. I told the waiter that I'm allergic to library and crab... No problems at all! I think his name is David, he was very helpful and took good care of us. Several times waiters/waitresses came by and asked if we needed anything. Great service! The sashimi was cut perfectly and super fresh. The fried rice was so good.. not greasy like you get at other places. The sushi was good, also. Everything was so good we went back later for dinner after church! If we did half starts I would. 3.5 seems fair. The start was rough. A 7:30 reservation, we didn't get seated until 8:05. No one came by for a drink order for another 10 min. While I understand the shortage of people due to Covid, you still need to book your reservations in a manner that allows for the shortage. With that said, when someone did come by things started to roll. Our server Roxanne was attentive, aware of details and quick to adjust to changes or any mistakes. I would come back again simply because of her friendly work ethic and service. Of course the food is delish, as if it wasn't this place would not survive 2 weeks with delayed service. At an hour and 50 min we still didn't have our chef. Our server hissed the best she could and did well considering. Our chef was delightful and presented well. The food was tasty and as expected. In the end 2.5 hours. I would recommend not being in any kind of a rush when coming here, at least until the worker shortage is over. read more
