We ordered the green tea leaf salad, the turmeric fries, the chicken curry with paratha, the all-star okra curry, the coconut noodle soup, and the kheema paratha. I also tried the grass jelly drink. I can't choose my top favorite among everything that we tried. The green tea salad was very unique and I would never have ordered it myself. Now, I'm a fan. The turmeric fries were so delicious too! The chicken curry with the paratha was very Desi and excellent tasting. The okra had a homemade feel to it. I would've liked a side of paratha with it, rather than rice. The kheema paratha was excellent. The coconut noodle soup was like a nice warming/satisfying coconut curry with noodles. I was really expecting to like the food at Top Burmese Ambassador cuz I've already experienced and enjoyed the food at their Burma Joy location. But the two entrees I ordered were way too salty for my taste. I ordered three items delivered. Everything arrived nicely packaged and safe in a stapled bag. I ordered the turmeric fries, sweet pumpkin curry and Burmese samosa soup. The turmeric fries were terrific but the $9 price tag seems steep for what you get. The sweet pumpkin curry came with jasmine rice. The chunks of pumpkin were tender but the "curry" was really just salty pumpkin water. The Burmese samosa soup was the saltiest item and was not enjoyed. Since I'm vegetarian, my menu choices are limited. If they could lower the saltiness of these items, they would be more enjoyable. I got good vibes from the server she was very nice and had a big table in front of us. No water was given and we looked at the menus for a while before our server came back. The food tasted very good. The portions were small for the price. A bit after we came home, we had a really upset stomache. This was the only place weve eaten out at ..I have medical issues so it affected me more than him and I had to go get rehydrated in urgent care a couple days later. I had the chicken and potato pockets and husband had the chicken wings.My husband and I shared eachothers food and the only thing we could pinpoint was that those chicken pockets I orderd didnt seem very hot. Service is always wonderful here. If you come early (or late enough) you'll never have to wait for a seat either. They do have outside seating as well, though living in Oregon this is not always a viable option The place has beautiful decor, it's very well maintained and clean. The food is always delicious. We tried three new options this time. I will say the quail eggs were a little rubbery, and the chicken was dry. Never had an issue with the food before, but I figured I'd mentioned it so that if other people don't enjoy dryer wings (dry rub too, no sauce) or eggs that aren't soft they don't order it. The mango juice was delicious, I wanted a gallon of it to take home! This place does have amazing cocktails, I highly recommend them for that as well, even if you aren't grabbing food. It doesn't matter that I've been at least 5 times, I never seem to take a picture of my coconut noodle soup before devouring it and that just goes to show how delicious it is! I typically stop in for their lunch specials because their food can be on the spendy side, but once you take a bite you know it's worth every penny! My husband and I have been so excited to try this restaurant. We ordered takeout and couldn't be more disappointed if we tried. My first photo shows $5 worth of pickled cauliflower. I know all about shrink-flation, but c'Mon! My second photo shows my pumpkin "curry" which is nothing more than the water they par boiled the pumpkin in. I had to microwave the pumpkin to soften it to a point I could put a fork through it. The vegan samosas were fried dough with nothing discernible inside. My husband's beef curry and chicken Samoas were just as bland. Even drowning everything in sriracha was no help. A $75 meal should be satisfying and enjoyable. I had jury duty and needed a quick tasty spot to get food fast. Some of the jurors recommended this place, so three of us decided to head over on a lunch break. There are robot servers that being you water and your food. It's a cool experience! The atmosphere is really nice. Robot service was a surprise! Never experienced that before and we all thought it was neat. Our waitress was great too! The vegetarian samosa appetizer was very yummy and the perfect start to our meal -just wish I had more! We enjoyed the GLP wings which were crispy and flavorful. Only thing missing was a dipping sauce, perhaps a chutney? The Chicken curry with paratha and the new Beef curry with coconut rice were both delicious with tender meat and plenty of sauce to pair with rice. Some sides such as pickled cucumbers and pickled cauliflower went well with the meal. The portion for the cauliflower was small and that's the only disappointing thing. The flavor was excellent! The wisdom tea was too sour for my taste, but the cardamom rose lasso was lovely.. A side note about tipping. I am a huge fan of Top Burmese and was super excited when this place opened in downtown Hillsboro! It's the perfect location to go for dinner after the Tuesday Night Market. Just like the Beaverton location, they've got a great ambiance with the greenery on the walls and the cute robots bringing your food. They've also got great cocktails and amazing food! My favorite is actually the kneaded fish rice, which they don't do at this location (if they did, I'd be here every week) but their chicken curry with coconut rice and samosas are a favorite as well. Service has been friendly and attentive - they have a call button for when you're ready to order but the last couple times I went, the server was making rounds and checking in on people so we didn't need the button. Do yourself a favor and drop in for a nice Ngapali Day Off cocktail which comes in a whole coconut and get some delicious curry or noodles to go with it. You won't be disappointed! read more

The seating area is pretty tight, but also not bad at all. The windows are huge and keeps the room very light. They do allow some room for outdoor seating as well. I ordered the chicken Samosas to start and they were amazing. They came with a wonderful sweet chili dipping sauce as well. For my meal I ordered the Shan Noodles, which I have to say, one of the better things I've eaten in a while. I brought my son here for a Thursday dinner and there was only one other table occupied. Parking is street parking but it was pretty easy for us to find a spot. The restaurant itself has nice decor and comfortable seating. We ordered a mango lassi ($8.95), mango wings ($12), beef curry with coconut rice ($23) and chicken curry with paratha ($23). Overall, we felt that the food was just ok but not really worth the prices. The wings only had 5 in an order and we expected more for that price. The beef curry was on the saltier side and the meat varied between soft and tougher pieces. The chicken curry was very tender and the portions of each were enough for leftovers. The coconut rice was good and the paratha was fair but not any better than when I make the frozen ones at home, it had a nice chew but wasn't as flaky as others. I would rate an overall 3.5 for ok food that is pricey, great service and a nice ambience. We probably wouldn't choose this for our date nights again. read more

I'm not sure how helpful this review will be because I'm still completely baffled by what happened but I'll leave our experience in case it helps others. My son came here last summer and had a wonderful weekday lunch with his coworkers (table of 10!). He chose this place to dine with us on our last night in the area because he loved it so much. Well, the first problem was the wait to be spoken to. A person who was already waiting offered us his menu and we took it to try to start deciding what we wanted to order. He then left which I guess should have been our first red flag. The woman hostess/server eventually stopped by, apologized for the wait and stated she was alone and they had been busy. No problem. We weren't necessarily in a rush and didn't mind. After another 10-15 minutes she finally came over and seated us. The entire time we were waiting (20ish minutes) there was a table that hadn't had their orders taken and hadn't been spoken to. Another red flag we ignored. We were seated and had silverware and glasses but no water. She did give us menus. We expected she would come over and pour water or ask if we wanted something to drink but she didn't return. We didn't get a drink menu but noticed a QR code on the table so scanned that to find the drinks. Then wondered if we should use that to place our order. It wasn't clear. We figured we'd ask when she came to fill our water glasses. Meanwhile I noticed that rice was stuck on the "clean" silverware at my setting. No worries. We set that aside and figured we'd ask for a replacement when she came back. Hostess/server chatted with the violinist that had been playing when we arrived. Apparently put an order in for her and then came over to the table we noticed had been waiting the whole time we were in the restaurant and finally took their order. The man asked for water and we were excited thinking she'd come fill up his water and then fill ours and check in with us. That did not happen. A man from outside the restaurant came in and flagged hostess/server down and started chatting. She spoke with him for a long time. At this point we realized we didn't think it was a good idea to stay. She was in no hurry to serve anyone, she still hadn't brought the man sitting next to us water, hadn't filled our water glasses or checked back in with us to take any order, drinks or otherwise, and it was getting late - already 8:30ish and they were supposed to close at 9pm. We had spent 40 minutes waiting. When the hostess/server decided to follow the man outside so she could visit with him and pet his dog we decided to get up and leave. The table next to us still had not received any water as requested. They certainly still didn't have any food. We were trying to be understanding about a busy night. The Hillsboro Tuesday night market was going on outside. But this went so far beyond that there is a larger problem. Maybe it is only this one person, but my son will now not return. The robot servers are interesting but strange. The kitchen staff would bring out a dish, program the robot, then send it on its way. The amount of time this took could have been avoided by simply walking the dish 20 feet over to the table. Bizarre! My son noticed one there last summer but there were two there when we attempted to dine in this year. Neither being used to alleviate the wait time for anyone it seemed. When we left we had to step over the dog's leash as they were having a little visit directly in front of the door to the restaurant. No one moved. The hostess/server said nothing to us as we left and we walked to the market area to get a drink and food as the booths were closing down for the night. I will reiterate that we were excited to try this place and visit with our son on our last night there and we were super flexible with wait times. We were nothing but friendly to the hostess/server but there was literally no service and there were plenty of open tables. So if it had been busy earlier, fine. But it wasn't busy when we were there. This just leaves me with a big shoulder shrug and no willingness to return. I'm leaving this review in case someone gets the same "vibes" we did. The beef curry was bland thin gravy with chunks of roast beef of varying consistency most were hard and dry and some so grissley you couldn't chew it. It tasted nothing like a curry. The highly touted coconut rice was tasteless plain rice. The green tea salad had wilted lettuce. We then were charged for a bottle of wine when we only had a glass. 2023/03/17 St Patty's Day & our 15th wedding anniversary. Called around noon to make a 730pm dinner reservation. This is our first tine to try Burmese cuisine. We pass by the restaurant every Tuesday during Tuesday Night Market and really fascinated with the great reviews. We were shown to a nice booth by the wide windows by a very cheerful hostess (our receipt shows KSeniia). We were served water by a robot & learned that we need to push Finish button so it'll return to its post by the kitchen. We both ordered the Burmese iced tea with coconut milk and it tasted very yummy & refreshing. Followed by samosas (chicken & vegetarian) as appetizers which makes me wanting for the next dish. I ordered the Shan noodles with organic tofu. After mixing the nodles with all the toppings, the flavors were amazing. My hubby ordered chicken curry with coconut rice which was simply scrumptious. Good size servings of the dishes so we shared both of them. Last but not the least, Thank you for the great dessert to end a wonderful dinner - we had toasted paratha with sugar cane and coconut cream dip. She kept coming out to check on us and made sure we were all good. She was even kind enough to leave a bell we could ring if we needed anything while we enjoyed our meal! The "gold" samosas literally had gold powder on them and they were crispy AF. We got the vegetarian/vegan version of the samosas but they also had chicken. It was stuffed with seasoned potatoes, carrots and peas and served it with a red sweet chili sauce obsessed. My husband got the Shan noodles, it was topped with a bunch of fresh veggies and tofu over thin noodles and sauce (tangy)!! We got the vegetarian version but you can add protein! The paratha... I could eat that ALONE ALL DAY!!!!! The chicken paratha was a chicken curry with 1 paratha - (tastes like a crispy thin pancake). I got the petite version, if you're getting the large portion..
