The service was terrible here. There were many empty tables but it took them forever to seat us. There was a lot of people here but only two people working the floor. We asked them to change our grill because our meat was burning and the lady said, "Why do we have to change the grill?" We saw other customers changing their own grill, which can be very dangerous! We asked for rice paper four times and when we asked again, the guy said that he already gave it to us. I don't know why this place has five stars... The meat quality is mediocre. I am giving 2 stars because they have a good meat portion, so you have to order less rounds. It's all you can eat though, so not a big difference. One round for 3 people (3 meats) was perfect. Rice portion was smaller than most places, but you can get more. We went around 1, left before 3 (which is when lunch ends), we called ahead of time to confirm. The woman gave us a DINNER menu and when we asked about lunch menus, she said that Sundays people usually prefer the dinner menu instead- that didn't answer the question. We were then charged the dinner prices, making us think maybe she meant they only have dinner menus Sunday. On the menu posted outside, it says lunch ends at 3 EVERYDAY, and there were people who were given lunch menus around us- the color on top is different. read more

My son got a 2nd degree burn after a hot sizzling grilled plate used at those Korean BBQ restaurant accidentally touched his neck by one of the waitresses. As much as you protect your kids, there's always some accidents that can happen. Not sure if it's careless waitress who was inattentive to their surrounding. They should know there are kids around and be more cautious and observant. Be careful in going to these types of restaurants when you have kids around. I am appalled by the treatment we received from this restaurant we were at. I wish they know how to handle things carefully before these types of situation happens. It started out as a good experience until we paid the bill. My wife called beforehand to see what they would charge for kids' AYCE. we were told that our 7 and 6 year olds qualified. Before we paid the bill my 7 year old was made to stand in front of a cabinet with 2 lines, they determined that he was above the second line and the waiter told us he would be charged as a adult. If they told us in the beginning before we ordered we would've obliged or have left but being told afterwards is something else. There's no writing anywhere indicating kids would be charged by height either. It took complaining for them to adjust the price for my son. But the damage is done. One time visiting is enough. We won't be back nor recommend friends to go there. read more

A welcome oasis in the otherwise uninspired food scene in Simi Valley. Worthy of contention to AYCE Korean BBQs in K-Town but without the drive. Though the old name of the place is still seen, embossed in the tiles and wall - they could have left a water carafe on the table for self-service, but least they have the correct table buzzer system. It is a flame-powered grill, probably natural gas, with the smoke recovery system way above you (newer systems are closer to the grill), so standard policy of having to wash your clothes afterwards applies. read more

Hmmm, maybe I misheard her, anyway we show up and after seating us, within 2 minutes she comes up and says, "can you order now". Every time she would return to our table she was short and rude with us, often, not even responding to our requests, just walking away. We have been there many times thru different owners but this is by far the worst service. To top it off she told me my card was declined, which was unusual. I'm so glad this place has improved! The last time my husband and I ate here, they were very understaffed, and because of that, our dining experience was lacking. Came back last night to a totally different experience. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. The place was half full as the dinner crowd was finishing up. We ordered AYCE Dinner A ($19.99 pp) and it was so worth it. The dinner came with plenty of side dishes including japchae (sweet potato glass noodles), pajeon (Korean pancake) and your choice of individual soup - which sometimes you do and sometimes you don't get at other Korean AYCE restaurants. Just that alone was enough to fill us up! We ended up ordering only one round of meats - brisket, beef bulgogi, and kalbi because we were so stuffed. Overall, everything was great. It was a much enjoyable dining experience this time around. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and attentive. I'm glad they hired more waitresses. The restaurant itself is kept nice and clean. Will definitely be coming back on those days when we feel like stuffing our faces after a long run. read more

I love Korean BBQ and go often. I also live in Simi so having this restaurant here is great, BUT... 1) Its no good if its freezing inside and you can't eat in comfort. I know its been a bit cold recently, but it is up to management to make sure you heat the restaurant on cold days. We had to move closer to the front where the only heater was working. 2) Service is terrible and understaffed. You cannot ignore the customer and only come around when it is time to pay the bill. I asked for napkins at least 4 times and never got them. I ordered hot tea and had to ask twice before I got it. Then no refills on hot water. Come on, that should be so easy to do. 3) Just because someone in our dinner party speaks Korean, doesn't mean you should ignore the rest of us. Its just rude. Like I said I've been to plenty of Korean BBQ and never have this issue. Its just lack of training in customer service and manners. read more

Great cuts of meat! They were quite busy but very helpful and friendly. The rice is perfectly cooked. I was with a friend and had a bite of their all you can eat meal- the waitress charged me for a whole other all you can eat and didn't tell us. It was ridiculous and manipulative. Worst lunch experience ever!! Nothing's changed from the previous Kalbi Q owners!! We usually drive to the BCD Tofu house in Reseda or K Town. IF I COULD GUVE THIS PLACE MINUS STARTS I WOULD!! By far the absolutely worst restaurant experience of my life. I have never been treated so poorly. The service was horrible and the food wasn't even good. We started off by being seated. Some of our party wanted the meats only menu and the others wanted to pay a little more for the added protein of seafood. So we asked the young man if we could order like this he said no you can't order like that because it's per table. Meaning we o my had the option per table of one or the other. They did want to risk they other people at our table to eat the seafood they didn't pay for. Mind you they don't even like seafood but okay. So we were a big party and the ones that wanted seafood decided to sit on the table right next to ours so we could get the accommodations of what each one wanted. The Asian lady with the blond tips came to our table and we told her what the young guys said and told her we would be taking the table next to our party. She then had a horrible attitude and was very combative and asked us to move to a different table so we wouldn't be together. I said absolutely not that would be very inconvenient and inconsiderate being that we came together. When we refuse she just walked away upset and didn't come back for our order for a while. Needless to say this to made experience horrible I was ready to walk away if they had not brought some food to our other table. We were basically walking on egg shells just to get our lunch that we were paying for. We also saw her and him be very rude to other customers coming in they wanted to sit on a different table and she just had an attitude about everything. Do not waste your time or money coming to this place they will treat you very poorly the food is not even worth it and you will leave with an upset stomach from the horrible service and the horrible food. We all asked for separate checks and she factored in the tip into our checks to ensure that she got a good tip for horrible service. I will never be coming back here again she make sure she gets her tip but she doesn't make sure to treat people with common courtesy. I've been coming here for 2 years now, I always come back because it's close to my house and the food is good. BUTTTT the customer service sucks, the waitresses are so rude and careless. My brother and I are servers so we try to just brush it off and we have for awhile. But this one server with blonde streaks on her hair. I have been wanting to try this place for a while now, and what better time than lunchtime! When I walked in, but no one was at the counter area. I waited a short time before a lady in the back who was clearing a table came over to me. By the looks of things at 1:30 or so there must have been a lot of business since all the booths and many tables had dirty dishes on them. I was led to the back and seated at the last of the 8 person booths - next to a party of 4 seated at another 8 person booth. I ordered the All You Can Eat lunch (AYCE) @ $16.95, but she stated they do not serve that to a party of one; it is only available if there are 2 or more in the party. So here I am - a single person who was just seated at an 8 person table in a relatively empty restaurant (2 parties in there) - with lots of dirty tables and booths - at the end of lunchtime and they don't want to accomodate me? I told her my displeasure with their "policy" but as far as she was concerned - that was it. So I got up from my 8 person table to leave. On the way out, a different lady was at the register. II explained why I am leaving and do not care for their "policy" on AYCE. Apparently they don't really care as they expect you to order something else if you want to leave your money with them. Then I drove the short distance to OMG Korean BBQ located at 2381 Tapo St. Unit A where they have great food, decent service and no problems at all in serving AYCE Korean BBQ to a party of one. They were packed - parties of different sizes in all the booths and tables. I was greeted promptly, and a table set up immediately so that I could enjoy my lunch. Which I did. Just got back from dinner at Top Chef Korean BBQ (formerly KalbeQ) and YUM! Good variety on AYCE but also a good menu for folks that just want a few dishes. I like that there are seafood options (shrimp and bay scallop) on the AYCE (Option B, $25 dinner). We were a little sad that dumplings or bibimbap aren't included (but they do have them if you want to get an order), but the banchan kept us happy - including a delicious scallion pancake! I could have happily made a meal of that alone. We found the variety of meat to be enjoyably varied (pork jowl and beef intestine) as well as some usual favorites or ours (beef tongue and beef belly). Plenty of chicken and kalbi options to keep even the less adventurous eaters happy! Some yelp reviews have mentioned poor service, and I could see how they are sometimes a bit less than attentive (especially as the restaurant filled up), but we went early and found it acceptable. Gratuity is based on cutomer service ... secondly the menu specifically stated gratuity will be automatically added when there are 6 or more people in the party ... customer service was horrible ... the waitresses were very rude ... from my perspective it looked like they were inconvenienced whenever we requested for either waitress to come to our table or simply look away ... they didn't seem to have the same attitude with the other tables... customer service was horrid ... when the bill came the waitress that rang it up had the audacity to tack the tip to the bill. Super rude customer service, should have left when the rude lady went crazy cuz we stood inside 3 mins early when the doors were open ( we didn't know the time or that they just opened) we wanted to ask her a question but she said " we no open" oK... Finally get seated about 2 mins later, and from there it was near impossible to get anything, normally we would go through 10 plates of meat to try different things, here they only let us make it to two. They do everything in their power to avoid eye contact and you have to say excuse me about 3-4 times since they act like they can't hear you. When you do finally get their attention, they love love love to just be smart asses and try to tell you how to say things ( our grill was burning and we called one of them over to let them know and change it, so she started saying " it's a grill change, grill change) We run out of water fast and they never came around to refill, it was just me and my wife, we both had our cups at the edge to be refilled, finally after 10 mins I was able to ask for water, and she comes and pours warm water only into my cup.... and runs off, so I keep calling her and ask why she didn't fill my wife's water and she said she didn't see it.... two cups next to each other.... the water was also warm so we asked if they had cold water or ice water, and i kid you not she went away and came back with a cup filled with a few ice cubes and dumped them into our warm water cups and asked if we wanted more. 10/10'never coming back.'hopefully they shut down and think about how they behave. read more
