Got there around 7 PM and were seated immediately, which was great. The only downside was that the staff felt a bit pushy at first. We were waiting for one more person in our party and had already asked for a few minutes, but they kept persisting in ordering. That said, after that initial moment, the service was actually very attentive and kind. The meat came out quickly throughout the meal, which we appreciated. Portions were generous, and the meat quality was pretty good overall. Parking in the lot wasn't too bad either. Overall, a solid experience.

My boyfriend and I had nice experience at Top chef! Walking in I definitely got a sense of an authentic Korean bbq spot that you would stop by for a casual drink and dine. We ordered AYCE and had the brisket, beef short Ribs, and top blade for our meats. Please note the portion sizes are huge and definitely shareable so they only allow three at a time. For appetizers/ sides we had corn cheese, fried dumplings, spicy noodle soup, rice, bean paste soup, and rice paper. We were definitely impressed with the quality and taste of everything we ordered. Especially the meat quality, it was incredible! Over all I think I think for what you get the price of 32.99 is a great deal. I will add that the service threw us off a bit at first but I think culturally there can be different expectations in mannerisms. Even so, service was fast and efficient and if we needed anything we could easily press the service button. Would love to come back!

Korea Town is where it's at BUT this place will serve your AYCE KBBQ cravings. No need to drive far. Friendly service. They probably have one of the best kimchi! So fresh and delicious! They have great selections of meat. Good quality and nicely balanced marinate on their meats. Inside was simple and clean. Plenty of dining area. Parking can be tight because it shares with other businesses.

service was fast, efficient, kind, and consistent without being bothered ... they were very attentive to making sure we had enough food and drinks. this is a kinda no-frills place, sometimes restaurants try to create an ambiance of authenticity with art work or designs, music, little nicknacks, etc but this is exactly what I want in a kbbq- I'm there to experience the food and the shared experience of cooking with my family and interacting and talking about our days. The food was undeniably amazing- wish I had smuggled in Tupperware or sandwich baggies lol (don't frisk me next time!) portions of were large, marinated meats were not overwhelming in flavor, everything was fresh and delicious. I think we left around 8pm and our whole household was in bed with happy, sleepy bellies by 9. Will definitely return :)

I just ate here yesterday (Sunday) for kbbq and was pleasantly surprised at the quality! I will definitely bring my Korean mom here next time she visits. I always avoided this place before when it also had Japanese food because usually multi-cuisine restaurants aren't that great. The cuts are not thin and are really good quality. Please know that it's quite common to have a more serious and less "friendly" service at kbbq so don't expect too much on that side of things but it was decent enough yesterday, but there were only a couple of other tables at the time. I will definitely bring be back!! Oh and the basil pork belly is good! Nice unique take! Amd the kimchi is good (I bet the kimchi soup is awesome and I'll def try it sometime) and you can get Korean pancake with the bbq and it was really, really good. They also have other items on their menu, lots of Korean soup, dol sot bibimbap, etc.

Kinda a hole in the wall KBBQ spot in Simi Valley. Very surprised by the good quality of meats at this spot. Portions are also huge so best to come with a group! Don't expect "American" hospitality/service, but service was fairly quick. They do have a call button so utilize that and be ready to order when your server comes around. Favorites were the beef belly, brisket, and short ribs. If I'm in the area again, I'd come back and try the other meats and sides.

When you think a place can't get any worse in service or food come here. Servers walk away mid order, might as well bring your own water to refill because no one is coming. Service is non-existent and it's like you're bothering someone when you finally flag them down and ask for some more sides. I hate to say it but go to another option or to Thousand Oaks for better kbbq and service. When we came there was three parties at the restaurant. There is only two servers at the time and normally I'd be okay with giving this place another shot or waiting a little longer than usual but this is the 3rd time and by other reviews you can tell it's a reoccurring pattern. It's like the people who work here purposely avoid you so you don't order more food. I wish the owner took the time to actually read the reviews because this place has potential in Simi to satisfy someone's kbbq cravings. Meat quality and banchan quality seems to have gone drastically down over the years. Brisket texture is rubbery. Japachae went from japchae with vegetables to just noodles. Blanched broccoli with no sauce. Kimchi doesn't taste like it used too. Shortibs on option A are boneless and not short ribs. Not sure how this place has survived this long and wouldn't be surprised if it closed down. Won't come again.

They changed the restaurant name to Surajang and may have changed owners (not too sure). The meat was decent quality and food came out quick. Staff was friendly and attentive and music was not too loud. The order of meat does come out in large quantities so watch out how much you order at once (just in case you dont finish it). Would definitely be back with friends and family. Great for days I don't want to drive to LA for ayce kbbq.

Awesomely delicious authentic Korean BBQ and sides. The plaza does not look like much from the outside, but the inside is clean and has nice minimalist decor. You cook your own meats here. Their vents work so you don't smell like smoke afterward. Only 4 stars since their meats are all thinly cut compared to other places whose fresh meats are thicker. read more

Worst service ever if I could give this a -10 I would but that would make the star system implode . They refused to give us all you can eat , tried to have a group of 4 grown adults and 1 teen share a salad and sides . Mind you this is 30 dollars a person. Don't go here!!!!!!!!!!! Horrible service, we would come here often and this waiter treated us like trash. These people should be happy we are trying to spend money at there establishment . Horrible service you've been warned and to the owner if you feel like you need to reach out to see why the horrible review please do , I have plenty to say. Maybe because we are brown your people thought we couldn't pay even after leaving multiple tips of 30 to 40 dollar on our previous encounters read more

Worse service ever, not only were we told that we can not have two burners for a party of 6 adults. Woman asked us to share one tiny salad, did not want to give us additional sides. We had asked to do all we can eat for each of us and she just didn't care. I'm pretty sure she treated us this way because we are Hispanic. It's unfortunate because any time we visit any Korean BBQ place we spend about $130 per couple. I guess it's their loss. I'm glad we decided not to eat and simply leave to avoid continuing to have horrible service. DO NOT COME TO THIS HORRIBLE PLACE. SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! RACIST FOR SURE! read more

We went to Top Chef for dinner and did the $19.95 AYCE. We had a really good experience and will definitely be back! The service was fairly typical from my experience at other KBBQ places. Quick and courteous but not overly attentive (not a problem at all, my plan was to eat all the meats, not talk to the waitress). Side dishes were all delicious and the meat quality/portions were perfect. read more

As quickly as we arrived, we left. We used to eat here when it was KalbeQ. It was always pretty good, but new owner/management has changed everything. Food smells great, but we didn't eat because our child was 1/4 inch taller than their measurement (whatever that is), which determines if you pay full price or "kids price." She eats like a bird, and would not have eaten $20 worth of food. If you can't offer kids portions or a kids menu (with kid prices) in a family oriented city, then we won't be eating in this restaurant. read more

This place is amazing! Having lived near K-town with access to terrific Korean BBQ I had low expectations of the food but I was wrong...the food is delicious, fresh, and very high quality. The Galbi sal, sliced beef and cha dol are legit. We literally come here like twice a week and service is always impeccable. It makes being on a low carb diet super easy...Top Chef is my happy place! read more

Worst service ever. We went in with two children who only ate rice because they didn't like the meat and was asked to get measured by height. Ridiculous no restaurant has ever done that with kids that didn't eat and to top it off they charged 30.00 gratuity. I will never go back and oh did I mention the hair In the salad. Worst experience ever. read more

Honestly love this place BUT charging full price for all you can eat for a 9 year old is chickensh*t. Went to dinner and got charged $20 for my son to have half a potsticker and a couple bites of meat. Great place to go without kids but, if you want to take your kids, find another place. read more

I think this is one of the better AYCE (all you can eat) KBBQ places in the Valley. The servers here are actually Korean and they speak Korean so you know it's authentic Korean food they're serving here. There is a private lot where you can park, but it's not the largest. Still, the meats are great, the banchan (accompanying side dishes) are great, and the prices are reasonable. I would definitely come here again! read more

i used to love this place however the last few times i have been there have been awful. the food is ok but the service sucks royally. we are treated very different than the others who eat there. they try and cook our food for us, they take the tongs out of our hands, we ask for things and they are very slow to get it for us or dont even do it at all, and they certainly do not show us any respect. i say go to gen korean bbq in northridge, they are way better in terms of food and the service is amazing!!!! read more

The best KBBQ and shabu shabu in town. I went there last sunday and they started new all you can eat Shabu Shabu. They have variety of choice of seafoods, meat, and vegetables. Their meat is so tender, and their sauce was so good and yummy. read more

Finally reopened to a fairly empty grand opening. The service was slow. The first portion was ok for a group of four. Yet as our time progressed the portions got smaller and the wait staff was not coming. The place was not busy enough to get such bad service. The waiters did not know what one of the sides we had were and had to ask. We asked if they had the veggie pancake they did not bring any. Once we got a pancake it was raw in the middle. It was sad that no one explained how k BBQ works. The rest of the food and sides were good. There are working on it so we shall see. read more

Food and service were great. We are here for AYCE lunch on a call weekend and our favorite was the beef brisket and beef belly. The radish wrap is pickled so it was a very good compliment to wrap the meats with it. The sides were good, and we enjoyed the Korean pancake a lot. The salad helped digest the bbq meat, but the best part of it was actually the pumpkin water at the very end. After eating lunch a big heavy meal, it was perfectly refreshing and hit the spot. We will definitely be coming back in the future. read more

5 out of 5 stars! Top Chef is a fantastic place to take a date or a group of friends. I come here with my friends all about once a week because we love this place so much! We appreciate all of the staff, they are attentive to the guests, and can easily handle simple or even more complex requests. I apologize for not knowing everyone else's name but a couple of servers who we see regularly and are always kind and helpful are Grant and Grace! These guys are awesome! The food is absolutely fantastic, they have a very wide range of meat selections, and even an extended menu for people who enjoy seafood as well! They've got a great selection of side dishes that are not all for me, but I definitely have a few favorites. Come to Top Chef for dinner I promise you'll have a good time! Love this place! read more

The food is great but the service is lousy and watch out for the increased prices. A party of four they charge a service fee of $ 25. $22 a person for all you can eat cost me and my family of four over $160.00. Check your bill or you will be overcharged!!! There are many other Korean BBQ in town that are more cost effective. read more

Couldn't be happier with this new restaurant! My family and I just got home from an exceptional dinner. The food was amazing and the service was stellar!!! The waitresses were extremely attentive and so kind to my mother and daughter. We ordered the all you can eat for $19.99 and left stuffed. We picked the beef bulgogi, chadol, and galbi galbi. Everything was great but our personal favorite was the galbi galbi, soooo delicious. The side dishes were perfect as well. I can't say enough good things about this Korean BBQ restaurant, we will absolutely be back! read more

Great selections. AYCE for $19.99-$24.99 is a good deal for what you are getting. Staffs are awesome. Once you sit, they start bringing the sides. They are also very attentive. They often change your table grill. Been here twice. Definitely will be back again. read more

The food was great but the service was so horrible we won't be back. We went and there were about 10-11 tables filled and only one server. I get it that she's one person working her butt off but her negative attitude and her big sighs as she was taking our order was unnecessary. We asked for rice paper and pointed to it on the menu. She brought rice so we took it. We later asked for rice paper again and it was as if we asked her to use her own money to buy it for us. Putting down the plates so sloppily that the blood from the meat got on our table, accusing us of touching the temperature knob then ripping a large piece of duct tape to put over it so we wouldn't touch it, and rudely telling us we put too much meat on the grill were just a few of the things that made us feel unwelcome. So disappointing because the food was actually good! read more

Not too bad of a place for Korean BBQ in Simi! Price is decent...but kalbi is NOT included in the All you can eat lunch (dinner only). Since they are still new, they also didn't have everything that's on the menu just yet. So far, the fried dumplings are yum! Bulgogi is good, spicy pork was ok (heat is good but a bit salty). Mom liked her green tea and since I am a sauce girl I thought their homemade BBQ dipping sauce is pretty darn good. I gave it 4 stars because: to grill veggies it's additional charge, ramen not included in ayce, no kalbi for lunch, spicy tofu soup is kind of bland. Service was great, meat decent, and this place is close to home! read more

Top Chef reopened today after being closed for several weeks. My wife and I tried it out tonight and we both agreed that it is just as good as before if not better. All the meats were very good especially the galbi and spicy chicken. The side dishes were quite good too and there was a wide variety of them. In addition the servers were helpful and attentive. Without a doubt, Top Chef is the best Korean BBQ in Simi, and we look forward to being regulars there. read more

Steakhouse Prices, Worse Than Cafeteria Food…read more Spider webs on the dining room lamps and food stains on our tablecloth were the first things I noticed during our first visit. Not exactly the first impression you'd expect from a steakhouse restaurant. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms appetizer. It arrived with plates but no silverware. We waited several minutes assuming our server would return with utensils, but she never did. We had to flag her down and ask for them. I also ordered a glass of wine that never arrived. The restaurant was slow, and by the time our entrées were served, I was still waiting. When we reminded our server, she just said "oh the wine yes!" She completely forgot! The food was even more disappointing than the service. The loaded mashed potatoes tasted extremely sour, no cheese, just shredded raw onions and sour cream with burnt top. How can you call this loaded baked potato? The mac and cheese was dry, bland, and lacked any real cheese flavor. Even the green beans had to a burnt pieces mixed in.None of the sides were at edible level. The steak was the only thing on my plate thats tolerable and even that left my stomach uncomfortable after my meal. The biggest disappointment was the food. For steakhouse prices, we were served loaded potatoes overwhelmed by raw onion, mac and cheese that tasted like cardboard, burnt green beans, and an average steak. The service and cleanliness issues only added to the frustration. We usually dine at Larsen's but decided to try support local businesses. After this experience, we'll be sticking with Larsen's. This will be our first and last visit.

You'll hear many patrons describe this restaurant as a hidden gem. Believe them. From our observation, reservations are highly desirable and may prove necessary for weekend nights. The only seatings available when we called a day earlier were at 4:30 or after 7:00 PM. We took the earlier, and frankly are glad we did. We arrived at their unassuming storefront location as the first patrons of the day, were warmly greeted and immediately seated. From this moment forward, my wife and I agreed: If anyone hopes to run a highly successful small restaurant, Bella's Bistro is the template. Inside, the ambiance was tasteful with gentle background music at the absolutely perfect tempo and volume to allow for conversation. We found the furnishings, tableware and restroom immaculate. Fresh flowers and a candle adorned each table, and the decorations for Valentine's Day were just the right tone, conveying appeal without being garish. Kudos to the staff for getting it right on all of the above. Though I generally set expectations low for the wine list or bartending at a small establishment, Bella's features a diverse wine list and specialty cocktails that pair very well with their menu. Of particular note was the superb crafting of cocktails during our visit - again, exceeding our expectations. It was during cocktail service that we noticed the full-service bar tucked in the rear corner of the restaurant, offering barstool seating and counter service for those who may be so inclined. We shared a nicely prepared caesar salad, while enjoying the basket of varied breads. While refrigerated butter pats were provided in the basket, it would have been a tad easier and more appealing if a small container of whipped butter had been offered instead. Our entrees included their homemade ravioli as well as chicken parmigiana, the latter included a large perfectly crafted portion of chicken accompanied by perfectly prepared spaghetti. To say this restaurant knows how to make and served great pasta is in understatement, with the ravioli a choice to be savored. A simple cheesecake dessert topped off the evening. Though the restaurant was full as our meal ended, we never felt rushed or ignored. Service was at all times attentive but never overbearing. There was genuine interest in our enjoyment and satisfaction. We encourage you to try Bella's Bistro!

My wife called MB Grille as we were already heading in that direction and talked to Alice and she allowed us to put our name on the list with the intent of us arriving in 10 minutes. We did arrive on time and the place was packed, we did get seated shortly after we arrived and Riley was our server. What a friendly easy going helpful person she was, answering questions that we had and getting answers for the questions she didn't have. Very attentive checking on us numerous times. We have dined here before and the fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection, Oysters are always good and the cocktails always spot on and refreshing. Big shout out to Riley on this one, great service is just as important as delicious food. And a great hostess such as Alice keeps the incoming customers flowing and happy and feeling welcome. My daughter had the tri tip sandwich on a garlic buttered roll. The sandwich was jammed packed with thin sliced tri tip. She has the macaroni and cheese. She loved it. They have beer on tap so I had to get a liquid candy. It was a solid meal. Will have to return with the rest of the family.

This place is normally a place that I really love and would go to quite often before COVID, the food was always great along with the service. Yesterday was the first time I went here during COVID and it definitely was nothing like the other times I came here. My table was the ONLY party that was at the restaurant, the server ignored us and did not come back to us so we could order more food. I understand if it is busy and you aren't able to come serve us as often, but when you're the only table there I don't see why you would ignore us and not serve us. I had to go back into the restaurant to order more food and the server was quite rude when I did that. When she came back to give us the food she also threw the rice onto the table. The place did get a lot more busy after that and the server was still not serving the multiple other parties that had arrived. The food was good but the service was very disappointing. read more

Live down the street and I visit this place often and I'm not sure why. There service is soooo freaking bad. I hope that it improves whenever I go back, but it only gets worse. They pay no attention to you and when you ask for something, they give you attitude. I feel bad for these poor miserable waitresses. I would like to talk about one waitress in particular. I don't know her name but she is one of the rudest person I have ever spoke to. She brushes off everything you ask for and maybe once in a while will give you what you ask for. Of all the Korean bbq spots I've been to in this area, by far the best. They have the spicy tofu soup which I find hard to find and there services was excellent. I usually expect slower service in Korean bbq spots and in okay with that, but they were friendly and quick. They also have good vents compared to the other spots in simi. read more
