Got there around 7 PM and were seated immediately, which was great. The only downside was that the staff felt a bit pushy at first. We were waiting for one more person in our party and had already asked for a few minutes, but they kept persisting in ordering. That said, after that initial moment, the service was actually very attentive and kind. The meat came out quickly throughout the meal, which we appreciated. Portions were generous, and the meat quality was pretty good overall. Parking in the lot wasn't too bad either. Overall, a solid experience.

My boyfriend and I had nice experience at Top chef! Walking in I definitely got a sense of an authentic Korean bbq spot that you would stop by for a casual drink and dine. We ordered AYCE and had the brisket, beef short Ribs, and top blade for our meats. Please note the portion sizes are huge and definitely shareable so they only allow three at a time. For appetizers/ sides we had corn cheese, fried dumplings, spicy noodle soup, rice, bean paste soup, and rice paper. We were definitely impressed with the quality and taste of everything we ordered. Especially the meat quality, it was incredible! Over all I think I think for what you get the price of 32.99 is a great deal. I will add that the service threw us off a bit at first but I think culturally there can be different expectations in mannerisms. Even so, service was fast and efficient and if we needed anything we could easily press the service button. Would love to come back!

Korea Town is where it's at BUT this place will serve your AYCE KBBQ cravings. No need to drive far. Friendly service. They probably have one of the best kimchi! So fresh and delicious! They have great selections of meat. Good quality and nicely balanced marinate on their meats. Inside was simple and clean. Plenty of dining area. Parking can be tight because it shares with other businesses.

service was fast, efficient, kind, and consistent without being bothered ... they were very attentive to making sure we had enough food and drinks. this is a kinda no-frills place, sometimes restaurants try to create an ambiance of authenticity with art work or designs, music, little nicknacks, etc but this is exactly what I want in a kbbq- I'm there to experience the food and the shared experience of cooking with my family and interacting and talking about our days. The food was undeniably amazing- wish I had smuggled in Tupperware or sandwich baggies lol (don't frisk me next time!) portions of were large, marinated meats were not overwhelming in flavor, everything was fresh and delicious. I think we left around 8pm and our whole household was in bed with happy, sleepy bellies by 9. Will definitely return :)

I just ate here yesterday (Sunday) for kbbq and was pleasantly surprised at the quality! I will definitely bring my Korean mom here next time she visits. I always avoided this place before when it also had Japanese food because usually multi-cuisine restaurants aren't that great. The cuts are not thin and are really good quality. Please know that it's quite common to have a more serious and less "friendly" service at kbbq so don't expect too much on that side of things but it was decent enough yesterday, but there were only a couple of other tables at the time. I will definitely bring be back!! Oh and the basil pork belly is good! Nice unique take! Amd the kimchi is good (I bet the kimchi soup is awesome and I'll def try it sometime) and you can get Korean pancake with the bbq and it was really, really good. They also have other items on their menu, lots of Korean soup, dol sot bibimbap, etc.

Kinda a hole in the wall KBBQ spot in Simi Valley. Very surprised by the good quality of meats at this spot. Portions are also huge so best to come with a group! Don't expect "American" hospitality/service, but service was fairly quick. They do have a call button so utilize that and be ready to order when your server comes around. Favorites were the beef belly, brisket, and short ribs. If I'm in the area again, I'd come back and try the other meats and sides.

    Beef belly meat for sale.

When you think a place can't get any worse in service or food come here. Servers walk away mid order, might as well bring your own water to refill because no one is coming. Service is non-existent and it's like you're bothering someone when you finally flag them down and ask for some more sides. I hate to say it but go to another option or to Thousand Oaks for better kbbq and service. When we came there was three parties at the restaurant. There is only two servers at the time and normally I'd be okay with giving this place another shot or waiting a little longer than usual but this is the 3rd time and by other reviews you can tell it's a reoccurring pattern. It's like the people who work here purposely avoid you so you don't order more food. I wish the owner took the time to actually read the reviews because this place has potential in Simi to satisfy someone's kbbq cravings. Meat quality and banchan quality seems to have gone drastically down over the years. Brisket texture is rubbery. Japachae went from japchae with vegetables to just noodles. Blanched broccoli with no sauce. Kimchi doesn't taste like it used too. Shortibs on option A are boneless and not short ribs. Not sure how this place has survived this long and wouldn't be surprised if it closed down. Won't come again.

They changed the restaurant name to Surajang and may have changed owners (not too sure). The meat was decent quality and food came out quick. Staff was friendly and attentive and music was not too loud. The order of meat does come out in large quantities so watch out how much you order at once (just in case you dont finish it). Would definitely be back with friends and family. Great for days I don't want to drive to LA for ayce kbbq.

First time eating at Jin Cook, Korean restaurant. Beautiful…read moreroom, excellent food. We ordered bulgogi and beef kalbi ribs--the ribs were especially tasty. I meant to order bibimbap hot stone with beef, but misunderstood the server and ordered bulgogi hot stone instead. the dish came with a bowl of rice in the middle and stir fried beef with onion around the rice on a hot stone dish. the beef was flavorful with a tinge of sweetness, but the meat was tough to chew on. The portion was big that the three of us can only finish 1/2 the order. the service was good as the server kept checking on us and added extra banchan and hot water on demand. price is average of $20+/dish as Korean food are always more expensive. our bill was ~$50.

But after giving it a few more chances, we're glad we did. It's gone from a shaky newcomer to our go-to KBBQ spot in town. If your first visit left you underwhelmed like ours did, give Heat a second shot. They've stepped it up in all the right ways.

The meats and veggies were very good, as well as the Korean Fried Chicken. Unfortunately, they were understaffed so we waited around 20 minutes for someone to come take our drink order, and it was 40 minutes before any meat arrived. They had one server for the entire restaurant. This affected our meal and we probably won't be coming back. The food was good but was not worth the very long wait. The best meats we tried were the flat iron steak and the beef brisket. The Korean Fried chicken was also great. We also had the mango soju pouch, which was very yummy as well. Overall, the service is what is lacking here, especially on major holidays. This would greatly improve the experience.

Came back here a few months later for lunch & boy am I glad that I did…read more First & foremost, I have to shout-out Arllany for being an absolute gem of a human being. From greeting us the moment we walked-in, taking-care of my table throughout the course of the meal, to seeing us on our way out. I never once felt like we were in need of anything as she was always on top to check-in on us & made sure that we were more than comfortable. If the management is reading this, please recognize Arllany for her outstanding contribution to customer service + satisfaction & consider gibing her a raise. She is a definite asset to your team. For having never met her before, her unmatched hospitality will definitely be the reason why I come back. FOOD PREMIUM ALL YOU CAN EAT - LUNCH - $33.95 The interesting thing is that you can more than get by on their base tier (1 of 2). I would make the argument that they have more selections at their base tier than some places have at their highest tier. Salad - 8.9 / 10 *NOTE* You have to ask for this as it is not automatically brought to you. I admit that I salad is never usually my go-to at an AYCE Kbbq spot. That said, we finished this because it absolutely complements the copious amounts of meats. I appreciate that they use high quality mixed greens. To me, the kicker is the salad dressing. It's a classic sweet + sour Asian inspired dressing that reminds me of the place where I first had kbbq as a kid. 100% ask for this salad (comes with all AYCE options). Seasoned Beef Boneless Short Rib - 9.5 / 10 My absolute favorite cut. We ordered multiple. In fact, if I was only allowed 1 cut of kbbq to order, this would be the one. This was so incredibly tender yet hearty. The marinade is not-so-sweet. Bulgogi - 9.0 / 10 You can never go wrong with a bulgogi. The quick-cooking marinaded thin beef. What I love is that there's no gristle or chewy fat. Crispy Fried Calamari - 8.5 / 10 I usually don't order fried appetizers, but this was a welcome addition. The 3 giant rings are a big bigger & hence, chewier than I prefer. But delicious nonetheless. The mayo-based sauce that come with this is suite memorable with just the nice amount of kick. Steamed Egg - 8.8 / 10 Moreso a tribute to a buddy of mine who always orders this, the steamed egg came-out perfectly piping-hot. It was still cooking / steaming as it was brought to our table = this is exactly what I want. The egg was just the right amount of fluffiness from the hot water. It provided such a nice, soft textual contrast to the entire meal. Fried Pork Dumplings - 8.9 / 10 I really appreciate that these come included in the base tier AYCE. It's the welcome pork addition to my meal. The accompanying soy sauce is the salty component that my palate needed. The gyoza were not too chewy & were fried + steamed just right. I'd order more if my stomach would allow. These were done better than other places that serve them. Beef Top Sirloin - 9.0 / 10 Simple. Un-marinated. You get a thick, size-able piece here. The take-away is the quality. Easily a piece that would shelve out a pretty penny for at the grocery store. The trick here is to cook along-side your marinated meats. Decently marbled cut with a nice, thick piece of fat attached on the side. Pro-Tip: Cut off this thick piece of fat & let it render on the cook-top so as to provide a layer of lubrication + beefy flavor to all your other meats as you cook. Sliced Ribeye Beef - 9.0 / 10 Like seasoned boneless short rib but not marinaded. Sometimes it's nice to have your favorite cut offered without marinade just so that it can soak-up the excess marinade from the other cuts. Quality. Meaty. Huge, singular piece. Beef Short Plate (Beef Belly) - 8.9 / 10 A very nice blend of meat + fat. The texture is the most pleasant fatty chew & unique of all the options that we ordered. Banchan You get 3 here. I'm ok with that because I'd rather fill my precious stomach space with delicious meat. Nothing out of the norm but they get the job done. Bean Sprouts - 8.0 / 10 Not overly-watery. Light, crunchy. Picked daikon - 8.2 / 10 Crisp, refreshing. With just the right amount of sour pickle flavor. I like the nice pink color. Kimchi - 8.4 / 10 I do prefer this more cut-up kimchi. This is the spice / heat that I want in my kbbq meal. Rice paper - 8.7 / 10 Not overly oily. Perfectly chewy. Fresh. Bonus points for having rice paper - not all places have it. You do have to ask for it, but that's perfectly fine. Again, I see why this place is so incredibly popular for dinner. But if you want to avoid the crowds, this is such an underated gem of a restaurant for lunch. I will definitely be coming back for the plentiful food choice options of their base tier (especially their appetizers). The service is quite exceptional because of warm, hospitable staff like Arllany + Elizabeth! A++

On 11.1.2025, I had my First Taste/Experience of Traditional Korean BBQ where not only was I the…read moreCustomer, but I was also the Chef. Yeah, by the time we were all done with our All You Can Eat Feast, I had everyone at our table acknowledging me with, Yes Chef! ;) And when it was time to pay the bill... I was also the Bankroller, The Benefactor, The Meal Ticket and my little Citi Bank Costco card took the tab like a champ! Yeah, $257 Big Ones for 4 adults with adult Bevies, including tip for a meal that I literally cooked myself. At first, I was a little taken back, but after doing my research, I completely understood the reasons why K-BBQ costs what it does. So why is Korean Bbq so pricey you ask, especially since you are the one doing the actual cooking? Well according to Google... Premium Quality Meats, Labor Intensive Preparation, Imported Ingredients from the Motherland, aka Korean Spices, etc., and of course the Specialized Cooking Equipment.... All of this contributes to the hefty price per person, not to mention, it is AYCE after all. So I guess $257 isn't really all that crazy when you think about it, as long as you get your moneys worth. Being that it was my wife and I's first time here, and that my wife's sister & husband are regulars, we let them take charge and do all of the ordering. From the Premium All You Can Eat section, we went balls to the wall and ordered everything under the sun. A little Pork Fried Dumpling, some Fried Vegetable Egg Rolls, Marinated Tofu, Kimchi, and what seemed to be endless amounts of Beef, Pork, Chicken and Shrimp kept flowing to our table. Not gonna lie, We definitely did some damage. The presentation of all of the appetizers, sauces and extras was definitely intriguing, especially to a first timer (Me), but it wasn't until all of the proteins started rolling out until I really got excited. Rolled Beef Brisket, Sliced Ribeye, Beef Bulgogi, Chicken Bulgogi, Pork Bulgogi, Shrimp... All cooked by me, right at our table, with no formal Korean BBQ Training... And it actually got me thinking... That I just might be ready to take on Bobby Flay! Haha. Service was good and our server checked in with us regularly making sure to change out the Cooking BBQ Plate a few times over the course of our meal as the high heat and marinade juices on the meat left the Cooking Plate scorched after a few rounds of barbecuing our meats. All in All it was a good experience, and we will for sure come back, but more than likely only for special occasions. For beginners, like myself, I definitely recommend you read their restrictions on the All You Can Eat (AYCE) portion of the menu so you know what to expect. Now Have fun and go get your Janchi on!
