This place has really good food, but they need to hire more employees. I think there were three people taking orders, and the wait was 30-40 minutes apparently because they didn't have enough staff, and there were too many empty tables for the long wait. They were out of the famously advertised margarita, but the menu was huge!!!!!!! And the prices unbeatable (I was scared it wouldn't taste good because it was so cheap)With at least 3 meals I wanted tonight, but I ordered the Garlic Chicken Mozzarella flat bread pizza, a side of fries and ranch. The food took about 30 minutes to come out but was really good...although my flatbread was really good it could have been the minced garlic and red onion flatbread pizza with how much was on there. With real meals for about 5.99, beer for 1.50, and the food being deelish, everyone that has an appetite should eat here. Our waiter Jessie was overwhelmed and service suffered for it. He took our order, brought the food out, and brought the check. We needed napkins and had to find them, and when he came and dropped the check off he said thank you without looking up and quickly walked away. I still had a lot of food and had to get up 8 minutes later to walk to where the food was coming out to ask for a to go box because we were on our own after the food came out. If you're coming here expecting filet mignon for 4.99, don't bother. They advertise their 4.99 steak and eggs or 5.99 prime rib but they actually offer a lot more items for the same price. It was definitely home made which I like but was a little watered down. The steak came and it was pretty small but tasted good for the price. It was enough to fill me up and I was completely content. Porkchops: The porkchops are definately bigger than the steak but much more fatty and sometimes it is extremely bland. I ordered it twice. The first time it was delicious but the second time it was extremely bland and I needed ketchup and steak sauce to make it taste good. Prime rib: Their prime rib is actually pretty good. The cut is pretty fatty but also has a lot of meat and comes with au jus and horseradish. It is definitely worth the 6 dollars. Overall, this place is well worth it for the price. A lot of people are complaining about the quality but if you want a 5 star steak, you can go to el dorado a few blocks away for 5 times the price. Also about the service, their service is pretty mediocre but what do you expect in reno? If they are slow with your order, just wave them down. I have been to Reno on more than one occasion in the past several years. My travels took place during the weekend--but I had not eaten at the "Top Deck" until my most recent visit. Why? Well, on those previous occasions, when I walked past this restaurant during peak dinning hours, the wait for seating was really, really long. (It's enough activity to make one a little curious.) The Top Deck (in my opinion) is an old fashioned coffee shop type restaurant. It is located upstairs, within the Club Cal-Nevada casino. The facilities are well maintained; but the décor is a bit dated. That said, I chose to regard it as a quaint throwback to a previous era. On this one occasion, I wanted to get a late night meal. However, many eateries were already closed. Fortunately, the Top Deck is open 24-hours [during the weekend]. I ordered their $9.99 steak and lobster meal. You get a NY steak and lobster, served on a bed of French fries. (Do not hold me to this, but I estimate the steak as being 6oz, and the lobster as being 3-4oz.) At the price point, given the late hour, I think the quality and preparation of the meal was more than adequate. And lest you think that the meal wasn't filling, I didn't finish all of the fries that were provided. While waiting for my meal, I observed the orders that were coming out of the kitchen, and looked up the prices in the menu. A lot of people were ordering breakfast plates, and the serving sizes were generous. The prices were "low"--compared to comparable meals served by (say) Denny's. In conclusion, the Top Deck isn't fancy. It just serves decent quality food at low prices. read more

Yes, This is probably one of the cheapest meals I've ever had. BUT, like the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The BF and I decided to come here to try out the cheapest meal in town (sort of say) and It wasn't bad, but it wasn't very good either. I originally ordered my prime rib rare and I actually got it medium, which I should've ate and assumed the cook was doing me a HUGE favor, but instead.... I just had to have it rare and sent it back. BOY, did I hate myself. The meat was pretty hard to eat. It had this weird stench when you chewed it, almost like a formaldehyde type of thing going on (remembering this from OChem), after a few bites I just couldn't stomach it anymore. Also the boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs, his steak was cooked medium rare and was more edible than mines, but still not very good. Overall. Most of the cafes, restaurants & bars were either empty or closed. Not Top Deck. It had a steady flow of business, so I decided to try it. Decor & service was poor but I had came in with low expectations so that was fine with me. The chicken sandwich was large and tasted great. Fries were stale but I ate them anyway. This might be the worst meal I've ever had. mold in my sandwich. they literally fed me mold, while they did remove that meal from my charges i was still required to pay the rest of my meal. I had steak and eggs, the steak was so tough that it was almost impossible to chew. The bread was cold and the hash browns were interesting.....burnt, not crispy but not soggy. Overall it was ok, I have had better and I have had worse. My friend has the chicken soup and he is from the south...apparently the soup was comparable to his moms homemade so maybe check it out, he said it defiantly wasn't from a can. Prime Rib special , used to be good But I when in yesterday and asked what was the PR was at ? Waitress said med ( is was 5:30pm) wow I said can I see the cut of PR , the waitress and the mgr said no I said I'm hungry and I ordered , when it came out butter and ojou combo bowls were on top of the small PR cut , the waitress left right away I looked at this sad piece of meat , it was more than well done ! , I cut it abd it was like leather ! Tasted very dry , I pour ojou on it and tried again ! It was the worst PR I ever had in my life and the told the waitress so! I like the baked potato , and left 1/2 the tiny piece of well done prime rib and asked to speak to the mgr She can and said you ate some so I have to charge you ! I agree with the other review. No complains here. You get what you're paying for. Cheap steak eats with good/ok service. If you want better steak options, go and get them at a good steak place. Came here based on reviews, most good, some bad. I think I'm going neutral. We opted for the prime rib dinner, hoping for that inexpensive prime rib like in Vegas in the '80s. They were understaffed, so we were patient. Our server came up wanting us to order right away to save her time. I get it. We both ordered the 8 oz prime rib dinner for $13.99 which came with an amazing dinner salad with ranch/1000 Island that was amazing, horrible side of gross canned carrots/peas (seriously, just say "no vegetables" and save the waste) and an additional side, I got fries, he got a baked potato. We were halfway done with our meal before we could get some water from a separate beverage person. The prime rib was lackluster, of the 8 oz I was able to carve out maybe 4 oz, which was enough for me with the additional sides. I don't think I would order again, heck, I don't want to ever be in Reno again, but that side salad...that's my kryptonite. read more

Only came here at 3 AM for steggs (steak and eggs), and even in my less-than-coherent state, this place was just mediocre. I absolutely love steggs, and I love that it's very unique to Reno. On the plus side, it's a very convenient location as it's right downtown in the middle of the bar scene, and offers great breakfast deals after a late night out. Our server was nice....when we finally got him. Prices are super duper cheap. Cons: Probably pretty much everything else. The food was pretty lackluster, which I find kind of hard to believe, since it's pretty hard to mess up eggs and frozen hash browns. The steak was tough, although I already expected that, so no hard feelings there. But a flavorless egg and mushy potatoes? Come on, give a drunk girl what she really wants - crispy, fried, heart-attack inducing hash browns. Also, we had to wait for a table at 3 AM for at least 15 minutes. Though there was only one server, I looked inside and saw only two tables filled, maybe three max - with the biggest party only being four people. I think Top Deck can do better. Located inside Cal Neva's casino is Top Deck Restaurant. It's a spacious diner that is obviously busy all day and night. I wasn't joking when I say penny prices they seriously are! The rundown: Chorizo scramble ($6.99) - I'm a huge fan of chorizo and couldn't pass on this entree. The plate comes with chorizo, scrambled eggs, refried beans, a huge slab of hash browns, and salsa/sour cream on the side. Everything tasted so well together and I highly recommend it. Steak and eggs ($4.99) - A small slab of steak and a heaping scoop of scrambled eggs. The steak is small but honestly what can you expect at $4.99? Lol. Let's just say it's a "decently sized small" steak. S/O liked it so no complaints there. Buttermilk pancakes ($4.99) - They're huge fluffy pancakes that honestly can pass on a meal itself. For 7.99 I guess it would be expected. But I know that in Las Vegas, they have 7.99 steak and eggs at Elis Island Casino that taste damn good. Too bad Top Deck doesn't offer a comparable experience. Great inexpensive and filing breakfast. Perfect after a long night of Reno fun. Service was excellent and accommodating of a large party. All of our food came out correct and hot and fresh. Steak n eggs for the low-low.. only $4.99 2 out of 3 of our steaks were hella over cooked (we ordered medium-rare). Mine was just right but that's cause the cut I got was slightly thicker. Hashbrowns were crispy. Scrambled eggs were dry. Service almost non existent. Host/ess will tell you the wait is 30-45mins, you can basically cut that estimate in half. Maybe they tell you its gonna take a while so you'll go play slots to kill time. Lots of smoking in the waiting area, even though most of the people waiting are families with kids. Come here if you wanna feed lots of mouths on a budget. Otherwise, if you're willing to drop big bucks at the tables/slots.. do yourself a favor and dish out a little more for meals. read more

I visited Top Deck Restaurant with my family 2 times when we visited Reno. It is located on the third floor of a casino and can be confused with the steakhouse downstairs. One of the days, the wait time was pretty ridiculous. It took about 25 minutes to get seated, then another 20 for the waiter to make her way over to ask us for our drink order. The second visit had a brief wait time and the service was much more efficient. The food itself here isn't the highest of quality but is quite large and cheap. An example is the steak and fries (pic will be provided) was only $5 and tasted pretty good. The salads and soups aren't too bad either. Salads are simple with dressing and croutons laid upon some fresh greens. I highly recommend looking at the Cal Neva originals on he menu first because some of them, like the burrito my brother ordered, was huge and delicious. I mostly agree with Loan's review, especially with the steak on the small side. However, still $9.99 for Steak & Lobster is a bargain. You pretty much cannot get that kind of deal anywhere. That is, unless you are a member of a casino club. My parents and I ate here when we were in town last week. Both the steak and lobster were excellent. Surprisingly, it was very quiet on the night that we came. We will definitely return to this restaurant inside Cal Neva the next time that we return to Reno. read more
