This review is more for Matthew Gonzalez, one of the service technicians. The company itself was very helpful, but Matthew went above and beyond. What a fantastic experience. I currently live in Tribeca and was locked IN to my house. I had called two other locksmith companies, one tried to charge $175 to just come look at the lock and the other came and said they wouldn't be able to fix the lock for 2/3 days. So after going a day and a half (mind you having to climb out my first floor window to leave for work!), I called Top Notch. I have a difficult schedule to work around, but Matthew was extremely accommodating. He called me right away, let me know that he could come immediately, but I couldn't make that. He was extremely professional and polite, and had no issue moving the appointment back an hour or so to accommodate my schedule (something that is extremely rare with!) Matthew came by right on time, was very easy to talk to and got to work immediately. He took a quick look at the handle, took the handle apart and reassembled it, fixing it within 5 minutes! I was afraid that I was going to have to pay to fix the whole locking system (which Matthew advised me was a $1000 expense), but he fixed it in no time. Matt was the consummate professional; he is by far the most honest and trustworthy contractor that I have had to work with in NYC, and I would not look anywhere else for help. These guys were awesome, especially Matthew. I lost my keys and was locked out of my apartment for hrs after work and was basically helpless trying to get a hold of my super or a locksmith who could get there anytime soon. I found their number on google and they picked up right away, asked for my address and told me they had someone who could help me and to expect a call. I got a call a minute later from Matthew aka "ninja" saying he'd be there in 10-15 min to help me out, and he was literally there in 15 min. The lock on my door turned out to be incredibly difficult but he somehow managed to master it and get the whole crappy lock mechanism off, and replaced it with a brand new one. Not to mention he had stopped after hrs on his way home and was missing his Mets play in game 1 of the World Series. He was entertaining and enjoyable to hang out with while he was working as well. Hi, Let me say with total clarity how good the service I received from Top Notch Security was! From the second Sue and answered the phone: professional, courteous and pleasant. My situation was a bit odd, a car over 24 years old, with a broken door key and no way to get into the car. Nobody I contacted wanted to touch the job of simply getting me back into the car, a 1989 Maserati. Not only did Top Notch dispatch their locksmith Jonathan to get the job done, he got there about 15 minutes before his scheduled arrival time. After a bit of work, Jonathan got the door open and I was back in motion and even better the price was VERY REASONABLE! I cannot explain how pleased I am with the service, especially because about 5 other locksmiths were like "we don't do it", "contact the dealer" and 1 jerk even said they dispatched someone and after waiting 45 minutes I had to call them for them to say the locksmith said he couldn't do it. Top Notch Services are professional, prompt and personable. Matthew and his partner quickly determined that my AC unit had a blown motor and were immediately on the phone procuring quotes for a replacement. Within 90 minutes of entering my home they had removed my old unit, gone and picked up the new unit and installed it, taking all the garbage with them! Matthew was great! Our AC stopped working, I called this company and then sent me Matthew on the same day. He figured out the switch was the issue and he went all the way to a Specialty Electric store (after trying 3 different hardware stores) because our switch is not easy to find. This was hands down the best experience I have ever had at a Locksmith. I came in looking to make a copy of my mailbox key, unfortunately, it wasn't a standard model. The woman attending the store stayed open later for me and made sure she got the right keys. She was kind, professional and extremely informed on all things security. Henry helped me at 8AM when he was just coming off his night shift and was locking up. I just needed copies but everywhere else was closed. His keys were perfect quickly done and with a smile. It was actually a little after 8. The morning shift comes on at 9, Henry was a lifesaver. The arrival time was later than promised, and communication about the delay was minimal! We contacted Top Notch Security for a key that would not turn in a cylinder and open a lock. They sent over Patrick Smith, who came on the same day installed a new cylinder and new keys for the gate. He was extremely professional and courteous and was able to go back to the office and make additional keys for us. I love this place. The key to my building is apparently very rare - I went to no less than 5 other key cutting places before I found Top Notch and they had the key I needed. Now I go back to them for all my key cutting needs - the staff is very nice, as is the store front. Unlike most key cutting places, this one feels very inviting, clean, and roomy. read more
