The four of us just came from a lap around the Rose Bowl and decided to award ourselves with some greasy goodness. We ordered two burgers, a California burrito with chicken, a small order of fried zucchini, and a large order of chili cheese fries. The burgers were okay, but nothing spectacular. The California burrito was also just okay - the chicken was kind of dry but the fries inside were crispy. The ratio of breading to zucchini was okay, but the zucchini were cut too thin so kind of dry as well. We should have ordered a small chili cheese fries. It was a real disappointment. I live down the street and Top's is some good honest burger joint food. I've tried most everything they offer and it's all great. You can't go wrong with a Burger or a Pastrami but the have to have food here is a Breakfast Burrito with the green sauce. Yum! My bestie (of 35 years) and I used to visit this location between classes when we attended PCC at lease 28 years ago. We came to Tops often. We barely had any money, but I remember so many times, we used to gather our chump change to have enough for an order of fries. More importantly, the food...if you know what to get...is excellent. The quality of steak in the carne asada burrito is way higher than you'd expect at any local burrito joint. I went here to get a breakfast burrito and the burrito cost is an almost whooping $8 bucks. I asked for a smaller burrito for two reasons, I sure as heck am not going to pay $8 for a burrito unless it has fresh filet minon in it, so the guy tell me that no, there is only one size, so I was hungry and didn't want to waste gas driving to another place so I got it anyway. Really good fried zucchini!! Make sure to get the regular size, which is perfect for 2 very hungry people. The large size could probably feed a family of 8. I also recommend the Tops Burger, which is quite delicious and fresh. Be sure to grab some of the pickled veggies, which compliment their burgers quite nicely. Stay away from the gyro (not fresh) and some of the greasier menu items. Trust me, you do not want to regret your lunch. Tops has it down each time never an issue and always done right. Focus on the Food and you be fine. Since 78 - 80 they have so succeeded to a degree where there quality food is so good and mouth watering. Burgers are made with everything fresh to order anyway you want and the Fries are abundant in a box thin cut. The "small" regular fries is a whole box of fries! This last time I noticed that they have home made Argentinean cookies, and there was an ad for shrimp tacos. This caught my attention. So, I took a plunge and got a shrimp taco. HOLY CRACKERJACKS, BATMAN! It was hands down the BEST shrimp taco I have ever tasted.
