Visiting Dallas from Chicago, I was in the mood for Tacos and Torchy's was highly recommended and I was told, great queso! When you walk in, you place your order at the counter and then you grab a table. The menu was plentiful and I decided to get: breakfast tacos (egg, cheese, tater tots) and fried shrimp tacos, with a side of elotes and of course, queso. The egg and cheese tacos came with flour tortillas and the shrimp came with authentic corn tortillas. The egg and cheese tacos were really good, they were huge and was topped with a tasty salsa. The shrimp tacos were crunch and had pickled onions and had a good flavor with every bite. The elotes had some really good seasoning, almost like a BBq flavor but spicy. I'd say the star was the queso. We had to get 3 plates of their tortilla chips (1) was gone before our main dishes arrived. I would come back when I'm in Dallas. The staff were nice and the food was good. Everyone inside seemed to be having a good time and good conversations. The decor was cool and had a Tex-Mex feel. Good times! This was not a good experience unfortunately. I came in to try the new steak nachos. The cashier was kind but clearly overwhelmed. That's not a big deal, I totally understand. Thankfully I checked my order before I drove away because they forgot to pack my queso which was the base of the entire order. I came back to ask for the queso and he apologized! But the queso he gave me was so gritty and overcooked. I couldn't ask for a fresh batch because the entire container of queso looked that way. In a recent visit to Dallas, our family insisted we try Torchy's, their favorite taco spot. We ordered in a cafeteria style line and they bring the food to the table. Went today and they are now using an automated touchscreen for everyone to order rather than a human, takes 5 times as long to get through the line, order was messed up, people are pissed off, 35 people waiting in line... the tacos are good but not good enough for the total inconvenience of this absolute disaster. First girl at register was merely there for a paycheck nothing more nothing less zero excitement or enthusiasm god forbid she smile . I have gone to torches for years but the last two times I have been at the forest/preston location i literally threw my crossroads taco away. It was disqusting the meat was so hard and greasy as if it's been there for days zip zero flavor. Not sure who is managing this location but I suggest you find a new one that knows how to recruit , train and motivate a team And makes sure all food is served to highest of standards. read more

I was craving some Torchy's today! I went right before rush hour, so the line was short but quick. Shortly after I placed my order the restaurant got busy. They handed me a buzzer, but someone brought everything to my table (it's been a minute since I've been to a Torchy's, so I thought I would have to go up and get everything when the buzzer went off). The food came out quickly and the people were very sweet. The women's March Madness game was playing, and I was cheering on UT. It was a great environment. I tried a new taco, the Ace of Spades, off their secret menu, and I highly recommend it. You get jalapeño sausage, beef, and a runny egg yolk on two flour tortillas. Then Democrat is my go to and it did not disappoint. Sometimes there's a hole in your stomach that only Torchy's can fill! read more

So I've been a fan of Torchy's for a while, my go-to spot being the one off Preston Rd in North Dallas. I've indulged in both breakfast and lunch/dinner tacoliciousness in the recent past. Having moved, we decided to try the Torchy's closer to home for some breakfast grubbery. Enter Forest Ln location. Ordered online as usual, for a swift pick up and run to the casa house to fatten my Mexican belly. Once I got home, salivating as you would come to expect, I opened the bag of goodies and my heart broke to pieces as I saw the teeny tiny tacos that I've never been used to from Torchy's. They almost looked like play tacos that my nieces would make on their own, for Barbie taco time. Heartbroken, I opened my first potato taco, telling myself "well at least I can enjoy the taste." I soon realized that they replaced the diced potatoes I'm familiar with, with tater tots! Tater tots I say!! You may ask yourself, what's wrong with taters? Nothing....if you have them at a burger joint. But not in my Texas breakfast taco thank you very much. I may indulge from time to time in a fast food breakfast taco where tators are acceptable, but not when I'm paying this price for a good hearty taco. Diced potatoes gone with no explanation. A twist of the knife. The other tacos were good, at best, tasting a crumb by their size. Had to go get myself some additional breakfast to fill my deflated Mexican belly. November 2024 I'm here for the first time during a business trip to the Dallas area. I'm from Southern California so we have a plethora of excellent Mexican food. We ordered the appetizer of queso and chips which was pretty good and for my main course I had a steak burrito. I found the meat to be a little tough and Lacked flavor. It wasn't horrible and maybe I picked the wrong item. The other people in my party seemed to really enjoy their tacos so if I ever go back, I'll try something different. read more

I used to have to go to Austin for work a lot many years ago and have so many fond memories of breakfast tacos at Torchy's. Back then the lines were always long, but the tacos were well worth it. There's now a Torchy's in Dallas just down the street from my in-laws and my family ends up eating there for breakfast or lunch at least once when we visit. On our most recent visit we offered a variety of tacos and burritos and everyone was full and happy. I got the migas without the tortilla, which was great....although even better with the tortilla. Each taco has The perfect balance of f flavor, and heat when you add the sauces and or salsas.. I can't wait to revisit Torchy's the next time I'm in the area. This location is a little hard to find, we had to circle the parking lot a bit. It's attached behind the Potbelly's; same building, just on the side that doesn't face the road. Torchy's originated in Austin, and it looks like they've expanded to great success. They make higher-end tacos with creative names and fillings. You can generally stipulate whether you want corn or flour tortillas. Two tacos is sufficient for a meal. You can get three if you're really hungry. I got the breakfast taco (jalapeño sausage, egg, and cheese) and the fried avocado taco. Note: Breakfast tacos are served all day! read more

So I really wanted to like this place. I'm vegetarian, & I've ordered the queso w no MEAT twice. Both times when I got home I realized they added meat to it & I live 20 mins away. Both times they asked me did I want to come back, No. why make a more inconvience for me when I can't even eat the food? When I called the store, I told them & the girl who took my order said "it's not my fault" & blamed it on the cooks in the back. I've had Torchy's Breakfast tacos soooo much that I actually had to take a break from Torchy's. Well that only lasted a month!!! I also admit I was getting the same four or five breakfast tacos and wasn't even giving the lunch/dinner options a try. I am sorry haha!!! Torchy's is , and honestly I'm more of a lunch/dinner taco fan than breakfast as the egg overpowers the rest of the taco to me. The fried avo and fried shrimp tacos taste like you're at the fair! It's that good! As the kids say, "no cap"! The restaurant indoors was clean and though it was early afternoon and not as lively there were still customers there. Every torchys location I have ever been to has given a nurse discount (either 15% off or a free queso), however this location refused to offer anything. The manager acted like he had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned it and said "we havent done anything since covid." It's in a fancy stripmall with absolutely terrible parking but we had Mom's handicapped tag so could find a spot. There was plenty of outdoor seating so we sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine. I had the baja shrimp taco and the ...orange one? that is salmon. They were both delicious and I would eat more of them right now. My Mom is generally wary of tacos but she really enjoyed her chicken selection and my niece got the trailer park which is her favorite. Easy peasy and tasty. read more

I liked the tacos here! My friend got me here because I've never been and I was not disappointed. Definitely big sized tacos as compared to what I expected! I got the cowboy taco which was their taco of the month, and the Baja shrimp taco. My friend got the Baja shrimp and the avocado. I also got a margarita to go. Loved the cowboy taco but it was so heavy could only manage to eat that. Ended up having the Baja shrimp the next day and it was delicious even cold! The margarita was decent. Not too strong. I visit Torchy's every time I'm in Texas. (Three-four times a year.) I don't know what happened this visit. The brisket was so dry, it was crunchy. The Trailer Park chicken tasted like it was fried days ago. The toppings were fresh, the queso was good-spice level with great flavor. The location we visited wasn't nearly as fun or decorative as others I've visited. My group felt the tacos have decreased in quality. read more

I'm not sure if management has changed, but the corn tortillas were cold/hard and thick, yet fell apart when eating?
