Better than Velvet Taco in my opinion!! I got the Democrat taco, fried shrimp taco and fried avocado taco. The fried shrimp taco was my favorite for sure, the shrimp was beautifully cooked and super flavorful. We went in on a busy Wednesday at 1 pm and ran into a big issue, our food took over 30 minutes!! TT has great tacos and a groovy atmosphere and this is the first time they fell short. Why the five stars? Javier made sure our order was corrected and offered great customer satisfaction! He was honest about what happened, which is such a smart move. The food was phenomenal! You get go wrong with the trailer park or the fried mushroom taco. There is a reason they are packed but lunch, usually friendly and quick service The comeback: Javier, the kitchen manager took control of the situation and made sure we were taken care of! I've always enjoy TT and use to come for lunch when my office was 5 minutes down the road. I finally got a chance to come back and even with the delay, such good food! A huge fan of Torchy's Taco but definitely NOT a fan of this location. Came to Torchy's on my lunch break and left unhappy due to the lack of common sense from the janitor and the lack of sense of urgency from the manager. First, the janitor is doing a full spring cleaning of the restroom at 1pm. At 1pm it's the lunch rush, where the restroom should have been cleaned prior. Standing there waiting patiently for 5 mins, knowing lunch is ending, I ask the janitor if I could use the restroom and was told no! No? Furthermore, I asked the food runner if he could get the manager. Once again, waiting patiently for the manager for another 7 minutes, is unacceptable when a guest has a complaint. The manager, Erica, later found me and asked how she could she help. After explaining the restroom situation, she begins to proceed with an explanation about a contract which has nothing to do with the guest. Moral of the story, I was unable to use to the restroom during my lunch due to the lack of customer service and never felt like my customer needs were met. read more

We had a large ($500+) order online that glitched out and wouldn't let me submit, and Tara spent over 30min on the phone with me as I read 33 individual orders to her. Though the process was long, it was necessary and she was so fast to know what I wanted! We were able to pick up our food within 1.5 hours and everything was ready early. The team bagged everything up for us, and all of the food order was correct (just 1 order was missing, for churros, but it's a super small error for such a large order!) I'm in the Dallas area for a couple of weeks and a coworker recommended this place because they have the best queso. I was so looking forward to eating here! Restaurant looked clean, customer service was great so why only 2 stars? I ordered a half order of green chile queso and chips, and a chicken bowl without beans to go. Staff were friendly and offered a few suggestions and my order was done in a few minutes. Checked my bag, two packages inside and I was good to go. Got back to my hotel and no queso or chips and my bowl had beans sad face. So I drove 45 minutes out of my way and ended up without any food. I am bummed that I didn't get to try any food, it looked really good. Unfortunately I won't be back to try again. Check your order before leaving so you won't be disappointed. read more

I'm sure I've reviewed at least one other Torchy's, because I am obsessed! This location is closest to DAL airport and thus my first stop in Dallas. There is a lot of outdoor seating, plus they had the windows open for indoor air circulation. The line wasn't too long and there were markers for distancing on the ground. Tragically, the menu was limited for Covid times, but as long as I can stuff the Trailer Park taco (make it Trashy) into my mouth as fast as possible, it's okay. Service was quick, tacos were big, and drinks were good too! I've been to this location twice now and had the same negatives both times: it is dirty and cramped. Like, tables are inches apart and not frequently wiped down. You will definitely be putting your butt in someone's tacos trying to slide into a booth. Also, it's LOUD. Good luck having a conversation if you're sitting indoors. I know this location is on a college campus and need to be hip for the students, but dang. I've never tried Torchy's so I finally ordered food for three people. I hadn't seen two friends in a long time so we ordered it to go and hang out. The portions are small for the price and nothing had flavor. Velvet Taco does it better in every way. The reason I'm leaving the review is all three of us got food poisoning. Ordered a to go order over the phone and was told it'd be ready in 20 minutes. When I arrived I was directed to wait in a line of 50+ people and was informed it would take at least an hour. This line was designated for those who ordered ahead and those who did not yet place an order. There was no manager available to speak with me, but it makes absolutely no sense to take calls over the phone and give customers an expectation of 20 minutes for customers to then arrive to huge crowds and long wait times/lines. It was also ridiculous that 20-30 orders were bagged and stacked at the front, however people had to wait in line to pick up these already prepared orders. I can't imagine waiting an hour in line to finally pick up cold queso. They also only have a limited menu so for popular times, I don't understand why they don't prepare large quantities of popular tacos in advance and keep warm until someone orders them. Separate from the lack of foresight and business organization, I felt VERY UNCOMFORTABLE waiting in such a large crowd there was no distancing and no organization or direction from the business. No bueno. The tacos are mediocre and overpriced. $4.33 for chips and salsa lol I got it anyways and that was my first regret. The chip basket we received was mostly full of crushed up tiny chips from the bottom of the chip bag. Obviously you can't even dip chip dust in salsa so I had to ask for a refund on the chips. The female manager working at the time had a nasty attitude. She shouldn't be working in customer service or be anywhere near front of the house with that attitude. It's a mixture of rudeness and just pure "I hate my job and my life" vibes that aren't good for a welcoming atmosphere. I am a lifetime customer of Torchy's Tacos for two reasons: fried avocado tacos and queso. Torchy's has a ton of taco options (and even more with their secret menu) there is literally a taco or two for everyone. This will have been our 5th trip to this location and it was delicious. The service was great and all the employees are helpful. We sat on the patio with our dog (pet-friendly patio and they have pup water bowls) and enjoyed our dinner. This location is usually pretty busy and sometimes our order has been mixed up (corn tortillas instead of flour or not switching out the sauce per request) is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. This is my go-to Torchys in Dallas, the food and staff here is great, especially Jake!

While in town for the Winter Classic, my wife said we had to eat at Torchy's. Why does she even know of this place? Instagram. Lol. I guess it works. I took the whole fam of six so we tried a bunch of tacos. Most were great. A couple a little less. The kids didn't like the steak tacos in the kid meals. There is a fried chicken strip taco that they did like. We should have just ordered that for them. The queso w/ chorizo was spicy and delicious. Not enough chips though. The Republican - not sure why the name ... I have a guess, though - was odd. Having a sausage on a tortilla wasn't my favorite. Totally expected ground sausage. The Carnitas was delicious. The fried avocado taco was plain, unfortunately. I live fried avocado and usually it has a little more kick. Not terrible, just plain. The Hillbilly was pretty good. Fried chicken with sauce and veggies. The Brushfire was similar to the Carnitas but had mango. A nice sweet flavor. Overall, the food was delicious. Love that everything is ethically sourced. The place is a total mess, filthy, sticky, tables covered in food. No one cleans. Gross. When purchasing the meal, the default lowest tip is 18%... for what?! This isn't a place with service. You order your own food, you have to clean your table, the food arrives late and cold. I don't mind tipping but it is for something, not an entitlement to support indifferent and snarky workers. The girl working the cash register is fussy. We had a second order and it was taking a long time so I asked her to please check on it. She immediately snapped at me and was bothered that I asked her ( very politely) to check on an order the was soon discovered was forgotten. Ugh. What the hell happened to Torchy's.
