This is probably my new favorite Taco restaurant. The ambience was great, the place was lively, a great place to hangout in their bar lounge, & great staff. The parking is kind of busy at times but this place is worth the visit. Tips: Try out their Trailer Park, the nacho chips are crunchy & still crunchy when brought home, and the queso dip for the nacho chips is the best part of it. Love this place!!! Always hit them up when in town. Super friendly staff with suggestions at the ready. Tried a burrito the last time in and i must say," stick with the tacos". Burrito had too much sauce and was just mushy. Tacos we got however were FIRE. Chicken fajita and a pork verde were delicious! The first impression when talking to cashier she could have been nicer. The card that was being used was locked and we said that after we realized that and she proceeded to loudly say the card was declined can you try that again. The chips and queso arrived quickly. Then the tacos came out(four chicken and two beef) when eating the first two tacos both of them had raw chicken in them. The beef tacos tasted like lime juice was dumped all over them. This was brought to managers attention and he was prompt with removing the food off table and offering other items. At this point we could not stomach to eat anymore food from this place. Overall the restaurant was clean and well maintained, and most of the staff made it a positive experience. You can see from my other review of a Torchy's location in Austin that I am a devout fan of the Torchy's empire. So much so that as I left said empire's territory for the year, my last stop was to this location in Ft. Worth on my way back to Torchy-less Land. Boy, did this one tick me off. Even though it's now been two weeks since my visit, I'm still burning about the experience. Out of the dozens of tacos that I have either enjoyed myself or been witness to on others' plates, I had the two WIMPIEST-dressed tacos. Ever. And had it just been one of my two, or had someone else at my table also had a skimpy taco, it may not have been such a big deal. But, out of the six tacos ordered at my table, MY TWO had about 30% of the ingredients of the other four, which were uniformly dressed as per the usual, which is to say quite heavily. Out of numerous visits to numerous Torchy's, never have I been so robbed. In my review of the other location I visited on this trip in Austin, I compared my two that day to the size of Chipotle burritos! And, although I may have been (okay, I WAS) exaggerating a little for comedic purposes on that, I am NOT exaggerating about the two in front of me on this occasion. At this point, you may be wondering why I didn't simply bring it to someone's attention and ask for my meal to be redone. Well, that's because I have a personal policy of not complaining to the person/people working on or serving me my food out of fear of what might be done to said food in light of people's frustration with "another persnickety customer". Call it too many mafia movies or just plain paranoia, but I simply do not complain on premise. At least not while expecting to eat food after the fact. And since I live out of reach of being able to re-patronize this location or any other for at least another year, it wasn't worth doing so after the meal either. So, aside from the highway robbery of food on my plate, this was another nice location of the chain. Trendy, clean and the staff was professional and courteous. They had a nice patio for eating outside on pleasant days, and great highway access. Please only take this review to reflect my experience at this location alone, on this day alone. It was my first time at Torchy's and I'll be back. The service was fast, the employees were nice and friendly. The food was very good. Everything was tasty and fresh. I had a fried chicken taco and I don't believe the chicken was frozen, which means a lot to me. I have a small dog and it was nice to sit outside and have my dog with me. read more

I've eaten at multiple different Torchy's in multiple different states and this one is the absolute WORST. The people who work there are in terrible moods, wearing beanies, hats, durags, and HEADPHONES. I straight yelled "hey" to a worker as he walked by he starring at the ceiling with headphones on. I just wanted some more chips for the queso. The second time he passed by I stood up in front of him and waved to get his attention and then he proceeded to never bring chips. Haha it was actually funny how bad it was. This is the second time I've tried this location, a year apart and it was terrible both times. The burrito was full of disgusting mooshie ingredients. It's funny how I forget to Yelp about some of my favorite places. Torchy's is pretty much my gold standard of the almighty taco. Sure, they have some classics and basics and the ones you expect. And those are excellent. But my love affair with Torchy's is The Dirty Sanchez. Oh, how I crave it... It's different - one of their most unique ones. Egg, avocado, some kind of spicy carrot veggie mix, cheese, topped with - oh yes - a fried pepper. Two of those on corn... pure happiness. I also love their natural (or closer to natural) soft drinks. As a lifelong diabetic, I really appreciate a good diet drink. MAN their diet cola is LEGIT. Delicious. Typically crowded and ever-popular - but efficient and cashiers keep the line moving. Consistently tasty. Never had a bad meal or experience at any Torchy's, and I've stopped by this one... at least 4 times, including today. Also been to the one in Addison / North Dallas, the one in Waco near Baylor, and the old food truck in Austin. All consistent. Love this place. read more

So I have made it back to Torchy's three times since my initial review and I have yet to have a bad experience. Some new revelations: I did try out the Crossroads and it is now my default taco to get at Torchy's. The smoked brisket served on a taco is best of both worlds for me, BBQ and Tex-Mex. A more profound discovery is the Street Corn. My god, this stuff is amazing. The corn is served off the cob in a black bowl with all sorts of seasonings, spices, garnish, herbs and some cheese scattered on top. Simply amazing and...it is the best thing on the menu. Bold words I know, but I just can't get enough of the Street Corn; truly a unique dish. For the trip this past Sunday, we tried out some breakfast Tacos. I rolled with the Wrangler and the Ranch Hand. Both definitely hit the spot (I also ordered a Bloody Mary to help quell my mild hangover) and naturally I could not pass on ordering some Street Corn too. Of the two tacos I had, I would say I liked The Wrangler a bit more, the combo of potatoes and smoked brisket is unstoppable, it is not even fair really. Breakfast or lunch, you cannot go wrong. As someone who enjoys tacos more than anything I was excited to try a fancy funky twist on tacos. I was very disappointed and left hungry. Started off with chips salsa and queso. Nice serving size. Fresh tasting salsa with a great lime taste. Delicious cheese dip but it tasted like the famous velvetta recipe. Nothing new or creative. Kids meal was cheap but had very limited food. What's the cost for serving 4 pieces of a quesadilla verses 2. Ordered the follow tacos: Green Chili Pork. Republican. Brushfire. Chicken Fajita. Tacos are all good sized and in my opinion overly filled. The corn tortillas were too thick and didn't need 2 per taco. Every single taco tasted over cooked and the flavors all blended together. Really big tacos that are super filling! I had fried avocado and two independents. I could only finish one of the independents. I had my tacos made vegan. And generally veggie tacos are full of flavors of veggies but this was not the case. I couldn't really taste the beans the texture of the avocado was amazing but over all the tacos just lacked the freshness of veggie tacos. None of the sauces stood out to me either. Service was great they were very accommodating to make my meal vegan. They grilled the mushrooms for the independent taco instead of frying them in the batter because I wasn't sure if the batter had any dairy. I wouldn't go back again because it didn't appeal to my diet. But the meat tacos that my sisters and brother in law had were apparently rated better than mine! It's been awhile since we've been to Torchy's and so of course we had to come in on national taco day! Plus we had seen the new taco of the month- the tailgater- and we really wanted to try it. Sadly we didn't win any free tacos on national taco day but the food was still good! We came around 5:30 to beat the crowds and we did. No line! We each decided to try the tailgater alongside a fried avocado for me and the brushfire for my husband. As usual we had to get the queso which is always SO GOOD. The queso came out super quick which I love and it was extra spicy this time. The tacos took a bit longer than expected to come out. Our usual picks- fried avocado and brushfire- were good as usual. The tailgater was delicious. I didn't notice the queso that was on it and there was a bit too much blue cheese for my liking but the combination of it all makes me want to come back again this month. In a way it reminded me of the American (taco of the month in August I believe). Maybe it's the fried chicken which is always a good choice at torchys. Overall we had another great experience. It's kind of a long story why (so I'll just skip it) but one time, Jon and I were gifted a to-go bag of chips and queso from Torchy's. I had low expectations and when we got around to it at home, we warmed it up in the microwave and tried it. Holy moly you guys, this was love at first bite for me! I could only imagine what this queso tasted like freshly served and boom, my curiosity was officially piqued. So, we finally got around to trying Torchy's and I must say, I was surprised at how much I liked everything! Basically you order at he counter, then seat yourself with a number and hey bring your food to you. Decor is super cute! Love the "Damn Good" marquee lights and all the little Torchy Cupids everywhere. We ordered the queso as well as an array of tacos: The Democrat, Crossroads, Brushfire and the Grilled Baja Shrimp. Queso was out first and it was just as delicious as I had thought it would be! So creamy, cheesy and delicious. The green chilies are perfect in it, but my favorite part is the fresh avocado chunks mixed in, so buttery and delicious. It's also just the right amount of heat. My only complaint? Not enough chips! The Grilled Baja Shrimp was pretty good! There were about 5 shrimp total, all were succulent and nicely cooked. I do wish there was more of a charred flavor for being grilled shrimp, but they were tasty none-the-less. And I liked the pickled onion that came with it. Brushfire was supposed to be the super hottest thing on the menu, spicy-wise. Jerk chicken, grilled jalapeños, mango, sour cream and cilantro. We even got the diablo sauce and jalapeños on the side because the girl at the counter said that it would be easier to control the spice that way, so it wouldn't be too overpowering. Upon trying the sauce, jalapeños and the entire thing as a whole, she was heavily exaggerating. We ordered this taco pretty much specifically for Jon, because I can't stand things that are too spicy, but even I could handle this taco NO PROBLEM! Which, if you know me, that's saying a lot! Still pretty delicious though. The Democrat was pretty much your basic Barbacoa taco. I liked the fresh avocado in it, but wasn't really wowed or amazed. Personally, I feel like tacos like this should be between 1-2 dollars a pc., no matter where you are. Crossroads consisted of smoked beef brisket, jalapeños, grilled onions, avocado, and jack cheese. This one was pretty tasty, and good sized. Brisket on its own was just a bit on the dry side though. In the end, Torchy's was a pretty solid spot to eat. I'm still a bit on the fence about whether they are really worth the price, but the queso here is worth the price for me every time. I really enjoyed this place! We came during the TCU/Texas Tech game so it was crowded. However, we didn't have to wait too long for our food. You walk in, order at the counter, then find your seat. The servers bring the food out to you. They have a full bar to keep you occupied. Multiple TV screens so you can catch your favorite sport (football games). COST: Reasonable and cheap. One taco is about $3-$4...... I ordered 2 tacos and was satisfied off both. FOOD: I really enjoyed their tacos! The guacamole and chips were DELICIOUS!!!! I ordered Baja Shrimp taco and Democrat. With names such as the Democrat, Republican, Independant, Mr. Pink and Trailer Park one may very well be curious as to what kind of taco stop this is. It's a pretty good one. I've been to taco shops in gas stations, hole in the walls and small Texas chains but I'd never been to Torchy's. Now I have and I want to go back. Really busy for an early Saturday evening, so plan on waiting a few minutes. Fun atmosphere and this little devil appears everywhere in artwork around the place including a Daliesque painting. As for the food? I got a couple of tacos. Green Chile Pork and Beef Fajita. $3.50 and $3.75 respectively. A little steep for a taco but they pack it with more meat that the usual street taco. The Green Chile Pork had slow roasted pork, green chilies, cilantro, queso fresco, onions and a lime wedge. I added some pico and Roja salsa, which is their mild sauce. The Beef Fajita had beef, peppers and onions and shredded chedder. I added pico to that as well as their tomatillo salsa, also fairly mild. Both tacos were really tasty and the meat was TENDER. The salsas were flavorful but lacked kick. The only reason they didn't get five stars from me was that I actually wanted their Diablo sauce (the really hot habanero salsa) and they didn't include it.... was a bit bummed, but since I got it to go, I forgot to make sure it was in there. My advice -- try something you would not normally eat -- you will be surprised at how good everything is. The chili con queso is to die for. The green chili pork taco is one of my favorites. Food was super great, but appetite was lost after seeing 2 health/hygiene issues from the same employee that would certainly risk *food poisoning* First the food - Airstream salad was super good, I also tried the trailer park taco and the taco with pork on it - excellent taste and excellent accompanying sauces/dressing. Before food came out, I walked into restroom to wash hands. Saw an employee with a black Torchy's hoodie on leave the stall he had just used and walk right out without washing his hands So I respectfully and relatively quietly told an employee at the bar...I think I saw a manager in a blue polo behind him with his back to the restaurant, but the gentleman I informed seemed half concerned and said "thanks for letting me know." I just prayed that the employee I saw go #2 and not wash his hands wasn't gonna prepare or hand me my meal. After getting my food (thankfully it was packaged To Go since the place was busy. Again - food was awesome), I went to the restroom again and saw the SAME employee walk out of bathroom holding his phone up to his ear and AGAIN not washing his hands. *So heads up - if you get sick after eating here, it could be Norovirus or some other food borne illness that is spread through the fecal-oral route. After sharing my concern the first time and seeing the same issue happen 15 minutes later, I will never visit this location or a Torchy's again.
