I picked up a large to-go/catering order here for a work event at nearby Kirby's Ice House recently and while the food was all in order, we were not given serving utensils, plates, napkins, cutlery, etc. this certainly made enjoying the delicious queso and fajitas a bit tricky and we ended up having to buy some. Obviously not the end of the world, but if the catering orders do not come with those items, it would have been a good thing to know since we assumed it was truly a ready-to-eat situation. If the orders do come with it and we paid extra for nothing, then frustrating in that aspect as well. On the food front, the chips and queso are always a crowd pleaser and the fajitas were yummy as well - we didn't have much leftover, so the food was definitely a hit. All in all, an ok experience that ended up fine, but caused a little heartache. Not a reason to not come here again, but I know what questions to ask next time we do a catering order again! read more

Everyone there has rocks for brains and you can not convince me otherwise. Today they have gotten me and my order wrong for the LAST DAMN TIME! I order the same damn thing for lunch which is the Baja Shrimp, no cabbage, extra everything else, no chipotle sauce add Diablo and Poblano sauce...Ask me how many times they got that wrong? Ask me how many times I have gotten a FREE MEAL because they got that wrong?!? Today I asked for 2 potato egg and cheese for breakfast and the silly girl got my name wrong! My name is BRANDY so how she got "Dee" out of Brandy unless she didn't hear all the syllables and if she couldn't because I KNOW THAT I AM LOUD then the music needs to be turned down... and then when I asked where my stuff was the bald head guy who is still hanging on to his ponytail says "that's the name on your receipt" MOTHER FUCKER that's not my name, that's not what I said my name was, I will not answer to "Dee" and because it's on the receipt doesn't make it right....because there has been PLENTY TIMES my correct order was on the receipt AND BACK OF THE HOUSE GOT IT WRONG! The only time my food was right was when I ordered only queso, chips and no guacamole....they are all SORRY! No one ever looks happy to be there , like they're just going through the motions because they are clocked in, and if the tacos wasn't good and the location wasn't convenient I'm sure no one would go....because that's why I was showing up! Our office has gotten take out a few times from torchy's and I really like their Baja shrimp tacos. If you get chips from them it comes in a hugeee bag for like $4 so it's super value. I get salsa with it and it lasts me several days as a snack. I haven't tried the queso but my coworkers like it! I wish the menu had more of a variety though for tacos as I don't find their other options that enticing. Personally I like what red velvet tacos has to offer much more and if it wasn't for my office I probably would not just go out and get torchy's but try it out and see what you think. i had heard a lot about torchys taco so when in houston decided to check it out. i didn't have time to dine in so i ordered online for pickup. online ordering was very easy and simple i got the impossible meat taco, the fried avocado sampler, 1/2 order of guacamole and 1/2 order of corn. the guacamole, avocado salsa and corn were huge portions. the fried avocado was interesting. the impossible beat taco had good flavor and the corn tortilla was good overall decent tex-mex food read more

One would think that any bartenders you hire would have some sense of urgency, be able to multi-task properly, hustle a little. This girl has ZERO of any of that--no matter the line almost out the door, the dirty bar, the people waiting at the bar to order a drink. I am happy that Torchy's has moved into the Medical Center. This is the 4th location in San Antonio. This is lovely a location with rooftop views and patio space overlooking the medical center. This will be a great happy hour spot, or a place to catch a game. I will be going back here again. Same great taste and drinks as always. I came on their opening day this past Saturday. They were supposed to be open on Wednesday but delayed due to the storm. They served free tacos for those in need instead of opening on Wednesday. I believe they will be a good restaurant to continue to make the area more vibrant. read more

We have loved Torchy's in Austin for almost 20 years and supported the new locations all over Houston. This particular location is good in terms of real estate and ambiance; however, they suffer with staffing personalities. The last 3 times we visited we waited at cash register for almost 10 minutes wondering if anyone would take our order. Only a few staff members ever smile or seem to care about customers. The food is usually good (sometimes chicken is burned) & queso always delish; so I am really hopeful the service aspect gets fixed. The vibe is amazing at most other Torchy's locations but the employees on Gessner do not want to wipe down a table and they could care less if a customer wants to order, eat or have a good time there. This was my first time at this location and it did not disappoint! The cashier was so sweet and even told us about an off menu drink she orders which my friend and I decided to try! It was a margarita with sangria on top! Never would've thought to ask for that but it was great! The hillbilly queso is still the best queso I've ever had to this day! I'm a sucker for the brushfire tacos and they were perfect! Torchys is hands down one of my favorite restaurants and I don't see my obsession leaving any time soon! Loving the new location ! If you're looking for a nice sunset, you can catch one from their patio. We went on the 3rd day they were open and they had excellent service. Shout out to Darby (I think that's how you spell it) snd the other bartender working with her on National Margarita Day. They did great! Joe, one of the managers, was walking around and asking people how they were. I admire that. I think leadership is super important. With that said, the bar manager (from what i gathered) could use some toning down. I understand she was guiding the bartenders but she had a demeanor that she had do show she was the boss. Stopped by on a Monday around 3:30 PM. Parking: There is plenty of parking available. I had no issue finding parking right by the door. COVID precautious: they require masks. No mask, no service. They also have hand sanitizer available around the establishment. The employees are wearing masks at all times and some wear gloves. There is plenty of space and seating available as well. Food: they have amazing queso. I highly recommend the chorizo one; it's about 7 dollars and def worth it. I also go shrimp taco and it was about 4 dollars. I don't think it was worth it personally but it wasn't bad. Same with the mexican rice. They didn't top it off so it was def a bummer because it's a little over 2 dollars for what seemed like less than a cup. Overall it was a great experience. Had to request a refund because I waited for 50+ minutes and still hadn't gotten my order and when I asked the woman at the register how long it would take, the only response I got was I don't know. The excuse I got was that the kitchen didn't have my ticket, and she didn't know until after 30 minutes of me waiting. I have had 2 previous bad experiences with this location, and I tried to give it another chance...but this is truly bad customer service. We had the best service at this location. The bartender was super friendly and helpful. It seemed like everyone working were all happy to help each other. We normally go to the Heights location, but we've stopped going because it isn't very welcoming and it doesn't seem like the restaurant is well taken care of any more. Let me preface this by saying I love Torchy's, I think they have hands-down, the #1 queso in Houston (maybe Austin as well), and majority of their locations are simply 5-star reviews, because the tacos are great, and the food in general is always very consistent. That is why this review gets a 2-star instead of a 1-star. This review is specifically for the Torchy's location in the Memorial City Area (Gessner and i-10). This newer location is a big disappointment. Dine-in problems: Had a meal with friends there recently, and the only real issue was the time it took for the tacos to come out. On a Saturday afternoon, it shouldn't take 20ish minutes for 2 tacos and a queso to arrive. And although my friends and I ordered sequentially, there were 10-15minute differences between when each of us got our food, so everyone got to take turns watching one person eat. Take-out problems: This is over several times visiting, having a horrible experience, and giving them a 2nd, 3rd, 4th shot because "hey, it's a new restaurant, they are still figuring it out"... Whether you place a mobile order or walk up to to the To-Go area and place and order, the employees will find a way to mess up the order. The cashier was apathetic at best, and it boggles my mind that they re-read an order back to you and it's correct, but when you finally get the food (an hour later) the order is wrong... Speaking of an hour, we visited on a mid-week evening at 7:30pm. Not overly busy. Walk up to the To-Go counter, we place our order (6 tacos and queso+chips), I pay (with 20% tip), and we sit down to wait. 20 minutes go by, so I get up and ask the to-go person if our food is ready, they reply with "We are still working on it" and dismiss me to address the next customer in line, let's call them LuckyPatron. Another 20 minutes go by, and I notice LuckyPatron is having their food brought over to them, and they are beginning to eat (2 tacos and queso). I walk up and ask about my order, they ask for my receipt with order number, and say "Yes, we are still working on it, a few more minutes..." Another 20 minutes go by, LuckyPatron is throwing their trash away and leaving. Now that it's 8:30PM, I go up again, somewhat upset that it's taken this long... 4-5 to-go/runners are unwilling to help, so finally the manager walks over. He's kind and is apologetic that this happened to us, he reviews our receipt and states that our order was "misplaced" and they would remake it right away. So 10 minutes go by, and our food comes out finally. And the Manager gave us 2 "$5 vouchers" to make things right... However, I waited over an hour for a meal that should've taken 10 minutes to make, paid in full + 20% tip to apathetic, unhelpful staff, and was given back 2 free taco vouchers in return... Would you go back after this??? I did. One month later, placed another pick-up order online (I order 20 minutes BEFORE I arrive to avoid these issues), and surprise! Not only does it take 30 minutes after arriving to be ready, but they also messed up the order (wrong taco and missing queso). Just don't go here. Torchy's is great, but this one in particular is just consistently bad service. read more

I love the Mr. Orange taco. But I have to warn you against ordering The Democrat because the barbacoa meat is sooo greasy and full of disgusting fatty chunks. This is purely based on our experiences getting take out but we've had enough issues that we felt it was time to write a review. We've had a lot of pleasant experiences dining in but have never gotten our take out order on time. We placed our order today at 4:19 for a 5:15 pickup and just left the store at 5:41 with our food. Was told there was a problem with the tortilla machine but then about 5 minutes before the food came out was told that they were just waiting on the salad to be done...not sure what that has to do with the tortilla machine. Not to mention my husband was told that our ticket was up next and then watched 3 other customers get their food before ours came out. This is just one of many times we've had this kind of problem doing take out, but being 8.5 months pregnant, I'm a little more sensitive to getting food on time and made it a point to order an hour in advance of when we wanted to pick up. read more

We've given this location 3 chances... our mistake. Ordered foot for the office at 11:25 sent someone at 12 since we had a large order and wanted to give them a chance to put it together. Long story short we didn't get our order until 1 o'clock. This was the first time 2 months ago. They tried to make it right and gave us a partial refund and were super polite so we gave them another chance. 2nd time exact same thing happened, from the time we ordered to the time it was in our guys hands was over an hour and a half. 3rd time we ordered early (11am) still took an hour once our guy got there. (1:46 mins from ordering to get the food) Against my better judgment we try a 4th time because we love the food and it's actually really good and close to the office. It's an order for 8 people every time. No modifications, ordering them exactly how they are on the menu. 2 hour Togo once again. Safe to say we gave many chances and have been consistently disappointed. The food is great but the wait time is insane. I've tried on several occasions to overlook my food either taking too long to be ready, not have everything, cold like it came from the refrigerator. This visit was the worst! My beans looked like runny diarrhea, they were cold and my order was incomplete. New locations are popping up all over town so it was no surprise to see this location pop up & open its doors. One dreary weekend, H offered to pick up some breakfast & I casually told him that Torchy's open up down the road. With phones in hand, we each hurriedly checked out their menu. With mouth watering I looked at the yummy choices & decided on a potato/egg & a bean/cheese tacos on flour with the avocado sauce (which was marked spicy but hey avocado!). H called in the order for pickup as we were starving & left to pick up our breakfast. Torchy's Tacos travel well & they were bursting as they do not skimp on their taco fillings. The avocado sauce was very spicy which we cut with the roja & tomatillo sauces to cool it down a bit. The tacos were delicious & we were satisfied with our choices. Since then we have been back & tried other offerings: migas taco, the Wrangler (H made it "trashy" with queso added), chorizo/egg. One visit I also picked up their green chili queso which was topped with guacamole, cotija cheese, cilantro, topped with a swirl of diablo sauce. Holy cow! That diablo sauce is VERY spicy! Best to stir the sauce into the rest of the mix. Their chips were really good. A bit thicker than other places but crispy & crunchy. Held the cheese well. Torchy's has made a name for themselves & it is well deserved. read more

Happy we came in! Stopped in for a few tacos and loved them - the beef fajita, green Chile pork (least favorite), and (our favorite) brushfire (Jamaican jerk). The food was fresh, flavorful, and the meat especially was generously packed in the not too busy tacos. Also grabbed a sangria swirl margarita and the Chile queso - it was a very large portion with good flavor (though maybe needed a bit more heat for our taste). It was nice to sit outside even w lots of kids running around. Everything was efficient and friendly. Not sure what the low stars are about - maybe just not enough reviews compared to business? I don't think there's a better queso in town - I know those are fightin' words however, I will stand by them!! You can literally drink it out of a spoon, although I normally prefer chips. I'm relatively simple when it comes to tacos however at torchy's this can be challenging because all the tacos are amazing. Being a gluten-free gal, I typically start with the breakfast options on corn...so eggs and steak check (ranch hand), steak and bacon check (fajita steak), the Carnitas one (green Chile pork) is equally amazing! The hubs always likes to go with trailer park (it's a fried chicken tender with hot sauce! In a taco!) you can make it "trashy" and they load it with queso, and see my first comment for how good the queso is. And the other sauces!!! Poblano ranch all the way and occasionally the chipotle one. I stay away from tomatoes generally, so sorry I won't have much on the salsas. Never a bad choice to choose Torchy's. read more

I can't find the reason this taco chain is so ( popular ).. probably for the ambience which isn't much or their catchy little slogans that you can take your selfies with for your Instagrams, Fakebook or some other social media platform but no other reason.The service was terrible and I was at the bar. Other than that there is none. It's order at the counter ( if they acknowledge you ) then your off to seat yourself and so on. The frozen 12oz $10.00 Rita was nothing special. The Hillbilly queso was good but what do hillbillies know about chorizo? Anyway it was the star of my Torchys experience for $7.00. Now the two tacos... They have a variety. I got the Brushfire is Jamaican jerk chicken with shredded cheese some mango and Crema and the Crossroads which is brisket with jalapenos a slice of avocado and shredded cheese. $3.75 and $4.75 a piece. My opinion they were just good enough to make a turd. They were barely warm. It's a joke and a scam.. Taco Bell is just down the street or 4 million other authentic Taco spots that will blow this place back to Austin. Save your time and your money. read more

I came to this location on 5/9/24 and completed my takeout order for Jen at 8:02pm. The cashier said it will be ready in about 10-15 minutes which is totally fine. I checked my phone at 8:24pm and the food wasn't ready yet, cool. I noticed a worker from the back bring out about 3 bags of take-out bags to the front at 8:26pm. I knew that was our food since we were the only ones waiting. The cashier in front, Evelyn was just standing around on her phone while we watched our food getting cold. She only rang one customer so she wasn't too swamped where she couldn't hand us our food (we were standing right in front of her) She then went over to our food that was sitting on the table, looked at them, checked the name, walked away, and went back to being on her phone. At 8:42pm she finally called out our name for our food that has been sitting there getting cold. I was watching her the whole time and when we asked her why she just let our food sit right there, she said "Someone was supposed to call out your name"...yes YOU! We asked to speak with the manager and Evelyn told us the manager was too busy for us. We asked who the manager was and she pointed to an African American pregnant woman that was walking around the vacant sitting area. We went to the manager and told her our concerns and what had happened, and the manager was being extremely dismissive and made us feel like unimportant. She was the same person who brought our food out from the back so she knew how long we have been waiting for our food. She offered to remake our food but we have now wasted over 45 minutes waiting on our food (didn't want to waste more time) and who knows what they will do to our food if we send it back. This is an ongoing issue at this location, we stopped ordering through the mobile app because they would mess that up too. I had an incident when I purchased my food through the app and it processed through on my end and when I got to the restaurant, they said it wasn't completely processed so my order was never started. Torchy Taco's is one of my favorite restaurants but location by far has THE WORST customer service, never a good experience coming to this one. read more
