My husband and I fasted before a doctor's appointment and came here afterwards. Torchy's is located very close to Kelsey-Seybold and I was in the mood for tacos. Actually, we were both starving so I wanted to order everything off their menu. It was my first time here. I don't know what I was expecting, but this place is kind of run down? The soda fountain was broken, tables and chairs looked worn, and I believe I spotted a customer dozing off in a booth. The girl at the counter was efficient and patient. We ordered five tacos, two drinks, and the chips and queso dip. While waiting, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. Broken soap dispenser and a roll of paper towels on the counter. Not the best first impression. The food came out pretty quickly and the runner was friendly. The queso and chips were good! It was the most expensive thing we ordered and it was worth it, I think. The queso dip has all kinds of stuff in it and the chips are crisp and salted. I had two Democrat tacos and they were fine. The barbacoa meat was chewy and bland but the veggies were fresh. I was disappointed with the corn tortillas, which tasted like they came from a package. After a few minutes the tortillas get pretty rubbery. My husband had three different tacos and said two of them were good--the shrimp Baja and green chile pork. He did not like the chicken fajita. The presentation of the food is excellent. Each taco is roughly $4.50 so you'd expect loads of protein and toppings. On that front, the tacos are priced well. The food comes out quickly and the veggies are fresh. I think there are better-tasting tacos in the area, though (like Krave Tacos). While I have no complaints about the service, I do think the place looks a little...tired. I don't think I would return here on my own accord, but if some coworkers were to suggest coming here during a lunch break or something, I wouldn't object. read more

It Torchy's tacos gringo style tacos if you are not familiar with them. The service is great and you can get a drink from the bar. All their in house beverages are delicious. The restaurant feel like something from Vegas but Tex-mex influenced. Ambiance is relaxed and chill vibe. Nothing fancy or black tie here. read more

I love Torchys... every time I visit Texas I try to make a torchys trip happen. This one is near NASA and we ubered for a lunch fix before our space center visit. It was PACKED, but the line moved fast and the people taking orders were efficient and very nice considering how busy it was! I personally can never decide on one thing, so we both opted to try two different tacos and share the queso and chips (idk about you but we always say yes to queso!). This is one of the biggest Torchy's I have ever been to. They have a huge parking lot, and then when you enter the main part, you're like this is about the size of most of their locations, and then you realize there's a whole bar area and additional dining, and then there's a huge patio area too. We got a few of our favorite tacos along with chips and queso. The chips and queso came out fast, but the tacos took a while to come out. I noticed that their tacos no matter which one it was, was really salty. We also ordered chips (amazingly fried and yummy!) also ordered Avocado dip which was extremely fresh and also delicious. Menu can be somewhat confusing and the cost can really add up if you order (no other option) separately. I'm ok with paying for a great meal, but considering I had to order my food at the counter- it was just over $40 for 4 tacos, chips and guacamole. Street corn. Also, just one regular drink--- that's a bit overpriced for not the best tacos I was expecting from this place. Ambience was nice for the lunch hour. I don't think it's "kid" friendly. The first time I came to this location, I just wasn't feeling it at all. But something compelled me to go back a couple of months ago, and I gotta admit, I'm a fan! First, let me tell you if you are not ordering the queso then you are really missing out. It's spicy (I think it has Diablo sauce in it), has avocado and is an absolute mouth-gasm! I would say that they proved the rating to be generous. I've got pictures of the tacos that I ordered which are just chicken for heat or tacos. With all due respect to each of you I am requiring and demanding a copy of the video footage of what has transpired this evening at the BayBrook Torchy's Taco location, which I was verbally assaulted and harassed by a intoxicated guest, who was warned multiple times privately and publicly that he was out of line, in respect to the establishment and the regular guests who were first hand eyewitnesses to this incident.. Furthermore I did try on 3 + separate occasions to remedy the situation.. I understand that you have your policies in the establishment, still doesn't supersede my fundamental principles and rights to peacefully defend myself and the safety of my guests.. Under NO circumstances should a guest be allowed or promoted behind the bar, TABC Regulations guidelines clearly defines this.. He was verbally warned as every guest witnessed the multiple attempts to de-escalate the situation.. I immediately informed the MOD, and before the incident was addressed the altercation escalated, when a guest can walk behind the bar .. personal work space to grab me and verbally assault me and my guests over a free taco card that has been redeemed on 10 different occasions, and aggressively hitting on me clientele and making them uncomfortable in their existence is enough, but to allow your regular guests to approach me behind my bar to antagonize me and esculent the situation is unacceptable to me or any public establishment.. Where is the safety and security that is DEMANDED AND REQUIRED BY LAW TO PROTECT AND HONOR THE WELLBEING OF OR FOR ANY AND ALL EMPLOYEES.. You told me straight from the jump that there zero tolerance for harassment in this establishment.. Yet today proved and verified by video it seems otherwise.. Please be mindful that this is a legal DEMAND to any and all evidence to be saved and archived for my future legal counsel... I'm deeply disturbed by this matter in defending the hearsay of a belligerent guest who expects everything for free... I'm willing and open for any remedy to solve this issue.. I saw the words "Damn Good" like 4 times while here. I thought surely they wouldn't plaster that all over the walls if it wasn't in fact, Damn Good. Well, this visit was not Damn good, it was ok at best. They don't have regular fountain sodas, they have some off brand Maine Root brand and it was like they were missing something. Carbonation was fine, flavor wise, they were just ok. I ordered the Alabama Shake taco which was fried catfish with slaw on a flour tortilla. It was the better of the two I ordered. The catfish was fried nicely but there wants a whole lot of flavor on it. The slaw was really nothing special either. Maybe it would have been better on a corn tortilla. My second taco, the Democrat would have probably been better on a corn tortilla also. Its their barbacoa taco and really, I should have known better than to get barbacoa here. Unless it's a Mexican meat market or taqueria, places like this shouldn't even have it on the menu. It was so dry and bland, no amount of salsa would have saved this taco. It was however, LOADED with the meat, that didn't make it any better, but at least they aren't cinch with it. Trent got Mr. Pink and Crosswords. The tuna (Mr. pink) was better than the brisket one. This is a place I've been meaning to go to every time I've come to Texas, but have never been able to. Finally I had some time and wanted to mark it off my bucket list. Torchy's did not disappoint! The service was fast and the workers were friendly. It's a order-at-the-counter and then sit and wait for your food. I didn't know what to order so i took the recommendations of the worker behind the counter: a Trailer Park, trashy style, and the Crossroads tacos. They were both fantastic. The trashy trailer park is definitely a more gringo style taco with fried chicken and two types of cheese but it was delicious with a huge serving of chicken on it. The crossroads taco was my personal favorite of the two though. It was spicy, the brisket was so moist and flavorful, and the avocado gives you just enough creaminess and fat to cut the heat. Delicious! Would definitely recommend everyone to try this place at least once! The menu board is really nice- it appears they may have added some new items since my last visit. I ordered the Baja Shrimp, Brushfire and street corn. The Baja Shrimp has fried shrimp, cooked cabbage slaw, pickled onions & jalapeños. Cotija cheese, cilantro and a lime wedge w/ chipotle sauce. Straight outta ATX comes Torchy's. I've been wanting to dine here at the Webster location since it opened give or take more than a year ago, but my tendency to put things off got the best of me. Well, a rough week at school finally brought me at here. For my first Torchy's order I went with the Trailer Park and the Brushfire. The former was blessed with a multitude of crunchy, juicy chicken strips while the latter was a tangy Jamaican take on a well-known Mexican favorite. Both really hit the spot. I, however, regret getting a Grande Burrito. The beef fajita meat tasted flat to the point not even hot sauce can jolt it to life. Well while enjoying a few mid-day beers at one of my favorite Clear Lake bars (Timeout #2), I decided to DoorDash some much needed tex-mex. The driver unfortunately took his time getting there, so the food sadly got a bit cold (thus the 4 and not 5 stars..). NEVERTHELESS my friends, Torch's and all their glory came to bare when I ate the food. MY LAWD it was good. I think my favorite is the Naughty Santa (Such a good name, lol), so Torchy staff.. take it from a chef... keep that one, it's super tasty. I like Torchy's menu. I really do. And I love their queso. It's life changing. However, the service at this location leaves a lot to be desired. I recently placed an online, prepaid order and sent my husband to pick up. I even added an extra 15% tip for the staff. I was surprised to find when I added my favorite queso that the chips were a separate item with their own cost. Nevertheless, I needed chips so I added 2 bags. When my husband returned home, I'm sure you can guess: my not-free, additional charge chips were not in the bag. Oh well. Things do happen, let me call the store and let them make it right. I called the store no less than a dozen times, pressing "3" for the manager. The phone rang and rang until it went to a voicemail that was "full" and not able to take messages. How convenient...for the store. I challenge anyone out there to enjoy Torchy's queso without chips. Spoiler alert: it's not very enjoyable. So, for an extra charge and 15% gratuity I got wholly screwed and then totally ignored. Enjoy your victory, Baybrook Torchy's and bask in the glory of your subpar 2 out of 5 stars. You deserve it. Torchy's is a small chain restaurant that means you get franchises that some are better than others, but the food is fairly consistent from one location to another. The courtesy and friendliness of the staff changes though, and this location has a great staff. We love the baja shrimp tacos the best. They are amazing with the tangy sauce that goes with it and a squeeze of lime on the side. Then for a side dish get the mexican street corn---sometimes it's a little dry but when it's hot and fresh, it's amazing. They have a different taco of the month to choose from to keep you coming back for something new and different or just come back for your old favorites like we do. If you like Mexican sodas and beer, they have a great selection of those to choose from as well. Great staff, good food, excellent drinks--can't beat that for a fast food place. When we did have one mistake on an order--and mistakes DO happen sometimes--they made good on it and fixed it and offered free coupons for free tacos in the future. I was a satisfied customer. Update: I've been back a few more times and it just isn't that great. Half the time they forget things off of my order. Tonight they left jalapeños on a taco for a to-go order after I confirmed twice that I didn't want them. This might be my last visit to this disappointing location. The Hillbilly queso and chips were my favorite food of the night, followed closely by the prickly pear cactus juice lemonade--or The Pink Drink. The chicken fajita taco was okay, if a little dry. I didn't add salsa to it even though the tacos come with it on the side. I definitely should have. I also got a beef fajita taco which seemed to come with an entire sliced bell pepper on it. There was more bell pepper than beef. My husband devoured his trailer park tacos so I assume they were delicious. The migas taco was basically an omelette on a tortilla and very disappointing. You can not go wrong at Tochys! I'm a regular here as I live pretty close by. I've tried everything from the breakfast tacos to the jerk tacos and I have not had one taco that I wouldn't order again! They have everything for every type of eater. Salmon tacos for the light eaters, veggie friendly for the rabbits and tacos for the kiddos as well. The queso is the BEST! Torchy's Tacos is an amazing taco joint that sells a variety of tacos that aren't always common. For instance they have a new taco of the month with new flavors every single month! This location isn't anything new or spectacular but the staff here is extremely friendly and can help you pick the best taco for you. Typically, everyone goes in for the Democrat or trailer park which is the default typical first order here. They are both amazing options and everyone should try at least one new taco here. I recently tried the Baja shrimp taco.... Let's just say the Baja shrimp wasn't the Baja best. The shrimp had to have been seasoned and grilled or pan fried in the same area where the chicken is because it tasted almost like fried chicken? I can't really explain it any other way but it was still appetizing. The only complaint is that sometimes the tacos can all begin to taste familiar, if you go in to often. Today was no different when we placed a lunch order for pick up and Torchy's negligently withheld FOUR orders of queso! To make matters worse, when we went back to retrieve our queso, they failed to give us all our quesos. I'm starting to think the Torchy's employees are withholding all our delicious quesos for their own personal consumption. Please get these queso bandits under control!
