Came back for a 2nd time. Yes, the place is always packed and the prices are higher for tacos, but it is all worth it. Ordered a beer. Ordered the taco of the month (Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles), Baja Shrimp, and Brushfire (Jamaican Jerk Chicken). Ordered street corn as a side and guacamole and chips for appetizer. 1. The employee FORGOT to give me my beer, and I had to go back into line to ask for it. 2. They FORGOT to put maple syrup in my taco of the month so it was flavorless. 3. The Baja shrimp was so overfried it had zero shrimp taste. The sauce was also extremely spicy so my tongue is now burnt. 4. The Jamaican Jerk had zero Jamaican Jerk Chicken taste. 5. It had been forever since I had been to Torchy's although I have no clue why, as I love their food! A few of the friends I wenT with had never been there so we helped them out with our recommendations. I always get the Trailer Park, trashy style with the green chile queso and chips. Y'all! Did you know you can get mini, personal size queso? I mean, I didn't, and have just been eatinng the whole bowl by myself, which isn't a hardship, flavor wise, but still, it's an option that I didn't know about. Granted, I never asked... It's a big place and wasn't buusy when we got there at 11 am, but steadily got busier. Service was quick and friendly. We pulled 3 little tables together as there were 7 of us but there was tons of seating, even as it got busier. So the food was super good. The Trailer Park is a big ol huge fried chicken strip with cheese, pico, lettuce, and trashy style is no lettuce, plus queso. So much yum but not a neat meal, unless I'm just sloppy. The green chile queso is freaking delicious! So forget that mini bowl, I'm getting the big bowl! I was a bad Elite Yelper and didn't even take photos, so guess I'll go back soon to do that! I went to pickup an order last night at 9:15. Two employees were very lazy. I was their to pickup an order. One employee that was the manager acknowledge me. This place is gross. Wiping down tables and picking up trash is an absolute after thought. The bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned in a long time. What can I say about Torchy's that hasn't already been said..? We've been frequenting Torchy's since long before they opened a Clear Lake location. The queso is the absolute bomb (although sometimes they serve it Luke-warm when they are extremely busy), the lil nookies are a dream.. there's plenty of options on the taco menu and they just recently added a salad! The service is not always great.. in fact, sometimes it's downright awful. But they do get swamped and I'm sure it's not the easiest thing to keep up with a line out the door. A few of my favorites are the Jamaican jerk chicken, independent and the trailer park. This past visit I got the new airstream salad with fajita chicken, it was really good with the exception that there are entirely too many lettuce spines in the salad. I ordered online, eager to utilize the free delivery. Alas, no free delivery. (Change your website please.) Now to the food. My order was wrong - not just wrong but WRONG. Ordered the shrimp taco - no shrimp taco. Somehow, I ended up with a jerk chicken taco and a breakfast taco. Oh, and no drink. I have been to a few of the other locations in Austin and Houston and have never been disappointed. The black beans are dynamite! Of course the breakfast tacos are my favorite, as well as the torch-ini! Yes there's a line out the door, yes it moves quickly be patient, you won't be disappointed. Staff is friendly, the place is clean which you know is a constant job considering how many people are in and out of this place, it is always crowded. First impressions: Always seems upbeat here. It's a nice atmosphere! Larger than most Torchy places I have been to, good parking. Has a bar too! 3. The Service: Friendly and efficient service. Guys at the front desk always tend to joke a bit and I find that it gives good vibes. 4. Dining and Spirits: Just as well ordered the "Matador" from the "secret menu". Excellent as always. As usual, the food here did not disappoint me. I always get the queso with chips, Street corn and a Democrat taco. I have to say the food at all of the torchy tacos I've been to (3 different locations) are all consistently good. I love bringing friends here who's never been. YES the tacos costs more than the food cart tacos along the streets, but you have seating and consistent good food so it's worth it to me. I'm so glad that there's a torchys closer to me and away from down town!!! So much less traffic to go to this location. read more

Really awful service. I tried to order a taco with the sauce on the side because it was one i hadn't tried, and I was told it already comes on the side. Of course, it didn't and my taco was drenched in it. Even if I liked the sauce I wouldn't want that much sauce! They remade it for me which is the reason for 2 stars instead of 1, but thats not the end, because my boyfriends order was wrong too (corn tortilla instead of flour so it wasn't inedible like mine at least). Then of course theres the fact that they never brought out the salsa roja we ordered until we stopped someone to ask about it, and even then they instead brought out one of their other salsas so it still wasn't right. We gave up and left very unsatisfied with our meals because it was exhausting just trying to get the right things. It shouldn't be a burden on the customer to actually get what they paid for. None of the employees at the resisters ever look happy or pleasant and often have rude or unpleasant tones when addressing customers. As far as the food, I love their tacos and their queso is to die for, however...you also never know what you're gonna get. I visit torchys frequently because I love tacos but half the time the food is not up to par. The queso will be all watery and thin and the tacos are a soggy mess. The queso is incredible! The tacos are really good, and dipping sauce is very good as well. They did forget our order, so we ended up sitting there for 35 minutes, but quickly got our food once we alerted them. Calorie counts were low despite loaded, filling tacos. Torchy's is Mexican with a twist. I'm usually skeptical about the fusion formula when it comes to tacos but there's a lot Torchy's gets right! The Crossroads is my favorite. I've brought in a number of persons with me who had never been to Torchy's and this is the taco I have them try. All, so far, have loved it. The tacos are stuffed, so one is enough for me even though I'm not a lightweight. Well, one Crossroads and a small order of the Hillbilly Queso dip. It's delicious.
