Hillbilly Queso & Chips
Natalie P.

A must visit every time i'm in Houston if only just for the delicious queso. We got the hillbilly queso this time but you can't go wrong with any! So creamy and flavorful, and the chips are always fresh and crispy. I got the Mr. Orange which is one of my favs, the salmon and combination of sauces is delicious! The trailer park honestly wasn't as good as I remembered, but I dipped it in the queso and still enjoyed! We went for lunch on a Friday and it was mostly empty, ordered at the counter and the food came out very quick.

Tacos - baha shrimp is standard good (favorite one), trashy trail park (fried chicken second best), the hipster (secret menu fried fish third best), republican (beef brisket), green chile pork missionary style (secret menu but one of the least flavorful and monotonous taco, I thought I saw guacamole as part of the ingredient list but only later realized it's only the regular green chile pork that was ordered) the server and staff was super nice and able to remake the missionary style taco and they went above and beyond to accommodate it (love you torchys)! super sad that ace of spades went away though! Ambiance - casual and outdoor space available for nice weather too Service - 5/5 super sweet staffs! Would definitely come back just for them

I was visiting my best friend and I always hear her talk about how she's going to eat Torchy's Tacos so I decided we had to make a trip. Upon leaving the airport our first stop was to get a breakfast taco and ultimately decided to get some lunch items as well (it was around 11AM). I ordered the Wrangler which had brisket, eggs, cheese and potatoes and a Baja shrimp taco with a chipotle sauce. Additionally I got the taco of the month, The Churroscoe which had fried chicken, a churro, a fried egg and a bourbon bacon marmalade served with Diablo sauce. I also tried the street corn. The brisket breakfast taco was incredible and filling it was stuffed with delicious brisket along with the hearty potato and cheesy eggs paired with the tomatillo salsa it was absolutely amazing. I also enjoyed the Baja shrimp taco as well which had an explosion of flavors and a nice fresh bite to it. The Churroscoe was my least favorite as it was really sweet and also just didn't look the most appealing but still creative and tasted well overall. The street corn was really good with lots of flavor and paired well with the Baja taco. I thoroughly enjoyed stopping here and will be doing so in the future when I visit.

This is a fun, fast place to go and enjoy a unique taco experience. The staff have great suggestions and we're very patient with me as a new client. They suggested their famous queso dip and let me tell you if I wasn't full from the 2 tacos I had, I would've scarfed down the whole serving they sold me! I think it was called the hillbilly queso. But it was good.!! The place is a mix of fast food and dive but it's a neat place to get a quick bite.

You don't know what hangry men look like. I was one of them this Wednesday. I skipped my breakfast for an optometrist appointment. After I was done, I wanted to visit a shop in Montrose. While trying to avoid stuck in the single lane on Shepherd and Westheimer, I decided to make a sharp turn into Torchy's Tacos parking lot. Yeah. I was glad that I did. The food here was much healthier than other fast-food restaurants. I only spent less than $10 to get one Mr. Orange Taco (6.15) and a bowl of Refried Beans ($2.95). My meal looked small but it sure filled me up. I was quite satisfied with customer service. I didn't catch his name but he was funny to tell me the size of the taco. I know it's a standard line, but his hand was much bigger than normal taco size. That's cool.

I would say that this place is really good. I wouldn't say it's my favorite taco place. But the queso there is the best I've ever had. I would've given them a higher rating if there was one table available that wasn't dirty. It doesn't look like they clean a lot and what we had to clean up our table which had sauces spilled everywhere and empty bottles and plates which i was not thrilled with. the wait for food is not long though. I would go back but probably get togo from now on.

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. We pulled up to this food truck and, while placing our order, I instantly had the feeling that this crew knew exactly what they were doing. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and packed with the kind of simple, honest ingredients that make great breakfast tacos so satisfying. No gimmicks, no unnecessary fuss -- just well-executed food that delivers exactly what you're hoping for. The service was efficient, the operation ran smoothly, and it was easy to see why there was a steady stream of customers. Since it was my first time here, I ended up ordering 1 chorizo and 1 asada taco, churros, limon aguas, and my friend got the asada taco as well and a hortchata! Since it was super busy (especially on saturday night) it was about a 30 minute wait foe our food but it was well worth it! They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!

There's a parking lot, but we went on the weekend, and while the interior didn't look overly full, it was somewhat difficult to find a parking spot. The restaurant itself is clean. Everything is pretty much green and white. There's covered patio seating. You order from a window and there's a large menu printed nearby The menu offers all sorts of tacos, meats, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, quesabirras, sides, and even kids meals. You can get beer, margaritas, and non-alcoholic drinks. There's also a breakfast menu The food was good, and it didn't take too long to come out. My main issue was the service. The individual taking orders seemed to have a bit of an attitude and just seemed "over it." Furthermore, we mentioned having a queso coupon and when we were given the total I placed my card on the reader and I was told that I did it too fast and the queso wasn't taken off. The odd thing was, we walked away and realized that they didn't add the queso and the coupon was for free queso so they could have just rung up an additional queso. This individual had the vibe of eye rolling everything, and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth Some tips: You can order online to avoid any wait. Just go up to the pick-up window when it's supposed to be ready for a painless interaction There's a little bar area where you can get pre-packaged (to-go) salsas, pickled onions, limes, etc etc etc. the salsas are tomatillo, habanero, and jalapeño (I believe) You can order margaritas to go, which we did! Cheers!!
