Finally got around to trying Toro in San Marino! I'm really glad they opened a 626 location to help with the long drive to Diamond Bar. This location is in a pretty convenient spot on Huntington Drive, but it definitely gets very busy at times. Love that their online ordering system is up so ordering and picking up is so much easier now! But from the past few times I've been here, there isn't too long of a line so I guess the hype died down a bit. However, I don't think there is a separate line for picking up, so I still had to stand in line, which thankfully wasn't long when I came. I ordered my usual which was the osmanthus refresher. Their less sweet tastes like regular sweet to me, which I'm not sure if it was an off day for drinks for them, or if this is their new standard because I was pretty disappointed in how my drink tasted. Absolutely favorite milk tea spot right now. Have known about it when it first opened in Diamond Bar but was never out there, and when it opened at this location, the line and hype was crazy. There's still a line now but much more mangaeable on the weekends. The inside is usually full so we got our drinks to go. The popcorn milk tea was such a surprise, in a good way. You definitely taste the corn and don't worry, it's not buttery at all! It really is good with the brown sugar tapiochi, which is a jelly form factor, cross of mochi and pearls. Jasmine oolong milktea and the misty oolong milk tea are both really good and both pair well either of the black tea tapiochi or the brown sugar variant. The tea really shines and the creamer proportion really reminds me of the old school Taiwan tea shops. After our 1st round, we ended up going back for a 2nd round of drinks, and it's been a long time since a tea shop propelled us to do so. I went to try Torotea on their grand opening day and it was worth the wait. I ordered the calamansi oolong twist with passion fruit jelly. The quality of the tea is unparalleled. If you want good tea you will not be disappointed. I tend to order green or black tea, yet the oolong combined with the calamansi was perfect, lightly sweetened and citrusy. The passion fruit was a yummy addition and I liked that there weren't too many seeds in it. I would say it feels more like a harder grass jelly. Other than the servers were great at answering questions. For the price the drink is pretty small. Also it isn't a place to hang out at. I was a little skeptical when I first went here that the popcorn milk tea would be any good but I was very pleasantly surprised. I know it sounds weird but you got to give it a try once. It has this buttery smooth taste. As a guy who likes popcorn, it gives it a similar taste profile but with a sweetness in the end. It works for some odd reason. The 2 ladies who helped me were very nice. There isn't much room inside to congregate and chit chat for a while so just take it outside to the tables. It worked, it was quick and it was different. Tried Torotea for the first time this weekend and I was very impressed! It's a very small store inside so it's not a place you can come to study and you have to wait in line outside, but they provide a water station, umbrellas, and sunblock which is very considerate of them. I got the Creme Brulee Icemilk which came with their tapioca mochi and my boyfriend got the Mulberry Oolong. The Creme Brulee Icemilk was very creamy and sweet. The highlight was their tapioca mochi! It's softer and more tender than typical boba, but still had the chewy bounce. The Mulberry Oolong was not very sweet, so I recommend it for people who don't have a sweet tooth. They also had their Osmanthus Citrus Refresher available as a sample. It was sweet, but not too sweet and very refreshing. I absolutely LOVED my visit to Torotea in Diamond Bar and I was so excited that another location popped up in San Marino! The popcorn milk tea was well worth the drive and I couldn't wait to try it again. The line was not long at all; we waited around 15 minutes before ordering. There was a jar of cold citrus-infused water with little cups as well as bottles of sunscreen for those of us waiting outdoors. The interior is super sleek and minimalistic. There's some space for seating but it's all in a long narrow corridor. When we walked in, there were samples of the ember milk tea (a mix of barley and oolong tea) available for us to try. I thought it was quite yummy so I ordered an ember milk tea with barley jelly. My husband got the popcorn milk tea with brown sugar tapiochi (of course). We ordered both drinks with perfect sweetness and perfect ice. Rating this place four stars as the tea unfortunately did not meet expectations. Perhaps we should have gotten less ice, but both our drinks were slightly watery and lacking in flavor compared to our experience at the Diamond Bar location. The brown sugar tapiochi was still so delicious and our favorite part of the drink :) I'd likely return if I was in the area again, but I'd make sure to get less ice next time. read more

I've been wanting to try it since my cousin raved about it so much! My honest thoughts: really good but $$$$!!!! We got popcorn milk tea with tapiochi and pinewood milk tea with tapiochi. I actually prefer pinewood milk tea over popcorn milk tea. Although I can't really taste the tea, it's still really good in its own ways. In terms of the concept, it's very unique to the area with unique blends of milk tea flavor. Ambiance was really nice, very well organized. After drinking the milk tea, I'm not obsessed but I don't know if I would go back even though it's really good. This location just opened up a couple of months ago, and there is hype. When I went last week, there was a small line out the door on a weekday afternoon, and teenagers taking pics and raving loudly about how yummy it was. You have to line up outside, then they call you in when they're ready to take your order at one of two registers. We got both the popcorn milk tea with tapiochi and cassia milk tea with tapiochi. The popcorn milk tea is definitely very unique, with a buttery taste that isn't as weird as you might think! I would get it again, along with the tapiochi which isn't quite mochi, but is a very chewy jelly. The cassia milk tea was okay, I wasn't the biggest fan (but I need my caffeine!). Overall, I'd come back only if someone else wanted to try it. It's a bit pricey for the size you get, though I do admit the quality is up there. I just wouldn't want to deal with the wait! Online ordering wasn't up yet when I went last week, so that could be a potential game changer. There's plenty of street parking, and the inside is small but cozy.
