I was pleasantly surprised to find this place when visiting family recently, as I didn't think Atascadero had any sushi restaurants. I played it safe with some tekka Maki and a Rainbow Roll with miso soup, and I was very pleased to find cold, fresh fish in each roll. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making jokes with us as we waited for our to-go order to be prepared. Just make sure you ask for extra soy sauce, each silverware packet only has 2 packets of soy sauce, nowhere near enough for my 2 rollls! Otherwise very pleased. read more

I love Toshi. I cannot believe it has taken me so long to go here. I truly have been missing out. The chef is always happy to greet us and makes sure we always have a wonderful experience. The sushi is always fresh and always delicious and paired with a few rounds of hot sake, exquisite. Toshi also offers sushi at an affordable price. I usually get the roll with crab and salmon, I forgot what it's called but it has crab on the inside and outside with salmon on the outside as well--so good, and the roll is hearty. They also over fresh wasabi here!! I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you like wasabi. Next time I come here I will try to get something with noodles or some other dish besides sushi because I am sure it will be delicious. In fact, if you want a spicy and savory roll go for the West Coast Roll. Its a spicy tuna roll kicked up a few notches with extra fish, spice and sauce. You can also get some mochi for dessert. I really want to give them more stars. I really really really do, but the service here is always a little off. The rolls are delicious and the fish is definitely fresh, but every single time we've eaten here there's been an issue with getting parts of our order or getting them in a timely manner. The rolls are always consistent tasty, but not always consistently made. Sometimes an ingredient is different or they add a different sauce. I always order the same couple of rolls and about every other time they're made exactly as described in the menu - kind of a strange issue to have. The staff is always friendly, but not always the greatest about communicating there's been a hang up with your order, and sometimes you have to go out of your way to get their attention even though the place is pretty cozy. Again, kind of a strange issue. If you don't mind these things then definitely stop in for some of the best rolls in the area. read more

We have been looking for a really good sushi for a few months now. We have finally found a place we really love to go to. There golden California was the best I've ever had. The Morro Bay sushi roll was really good. The level of service we experience here was fantastic. The chefs noticed my daughter wasn't eating anything and made her a crab cucumber beautifully decorated plate. I was very appreciative that they did that and she ate it. For now on when it comes to sushi food in our area this will be the place we will go. read more

This place is hands down a solid sushi restaurant: it's been in the community for years, the staff is friendly and I've never had to wait for a table for longer than 5 minutes because they're on top of things. Given that, and their limited selection of rolls (deep fried shrimp is common in most of their rolls), I think 4 stars is very good and this restaurant's consistency will give them 4-5 star quality for years to come. Wow!! Simply Wow is what comes to mind. The portions were very generous even on takeout and the food was very flavorful. I ordered the Tornado roll and my husband had the 911 Roll. Both were amazing! Second time ordering here. My favorite so far is the salmon skin salad. Only 9 dollars and there's a very generous amount of perfectly crispy salmon skin, and it comes with some seaweed salad and fish eggs on top! The people are welcoming, and if you are short on time, the online ordering is easy to use! The only change I recommend is to add pictures of each dish when you click on an item in the online ordering. read more

Just moved here about 8 months ago and is our favorite Sushi Restaurant! Togo orders and dining in is always so enjoyable whichever we choose. The staff is always so kind and friendly. This one of the best sushi spots on the central coast. I would suggest the spicy Chirashi Bowl hold the egg. The staff is super nice and attentive without being invasive. The wife and I ordered: Sapporo's, Fried stuffed avocado ap, Farmer Roll (All veggie), the Chirashi Bowl, backed scallop roll, and some crazy roll with salmon /friedonions/garlic chips. I can't remember the name but I won't forget how awesome it was. This was our first trip and we will be back soon. I want to try the Lemon Tree special. Ive been to this restaurant several times the food is always really good however the service is not as good. Ive been there with just two of us and it seems to take awhile to be addressed to place an order though the servers are polite and the orders are always correct. We went there on a Friday evening with 8 people so hard to complain about the time to get every ones rolls close to the same time but we were good with the time and very pleased with the food. you just cant be in a hurry read more

Please note the presentation and quality of the food from this establishment has been extremely poor, and it is unfortunately since the demise of the original owner the lack food consistenty has been abundently clear and I will not return to this location. If I could communicate in Korean to the owner I would use complete candor and openly demonstrate her that she should not place two different orders in one container, it contaminates the taste of the rolls. The Udon Soup the amount was like for 1/2 of a container for a full price minus the rice. The lack of acknowledgement smiles and even common eye contact from the Sushi Chef's cutting the Sashimi was lacking, and the fish cuts were poor and we have been long customers since the establishment has opened at this location, but unfortunately we will not return, for the price of the food and the amount and presentations on several visits and how people who really know Sushi preparations, this Restaurant really needs to re evaluate their goals, quality of food versus the quantity . I will not be taking anyone to this location for Rolls, even other Chef's would agree that Toshi's should redo their menu, or go on a vacation, and / or hire a mature Sushi Chef. Perhaps maybe at lunch time, thats way this place is completely empty, the fish cuts are poor and too pricey and no one is smiling when you enter the restaurant it feels like a morgue, a person even has to ask for a glass of cold water on a hot day, it is not even offered. New owner!...... Beware. Went there with my girlfriend and we both agree. I can't say what I had was very good. The chefs were nice but the rice was dry and the fish was flavorless and the miso soup was the worst I've ever had, I was actually considering putting salt in it. Worst part is seeing the (possible owner) woman stand there with no expression on her face doing nothing but stalking her employees and customers, she should hide in the back. Was on the way home to Monterey from SLO when I decided to stop in at Toshi. I was really surprised at the quality. First check- miso. If miso is not good, best to move on... Well miso passed muster right away and my bento was generous and quite tasty. Really enjoyed having my own green tea pot, instead of having to ask the waiter every few minutes for a refill. I've been here a couple of times in the past week and each time they delivered great service. I've had the same server twice, a thin man, and each time he was knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. Inside it's small, but welcoming. They can rearrange their tables to accommodate a much larger party, but I can imagine anything over 8 people and the place would feel too packed. I've tried both the salmon skin roll and the marilyn monro roll. The salmon skin was crispy and a bit jarring in the mouth, but very tasty. The marilyn monro roll was divine although they missed a pun with that name. Shrimp on the inside and fresh salmon on the outside. It was divine. Heaven in my mouth. Promo card scam. I have been a long time customer but tonight that ended. I tried to use my buy 10 get one free card and they said "we don't take those anymore." Since when I asked? April, he replied. "Don't you think you should honor a full card but let the customer know it won't be an ongoing promo?" I asked. "If I honor yours, I have to honor everyone else's" he said. All the food was very flavorful, and fresh. The service was great! Like I said we weren't rushed despite showing up at almost closing time, food was delivered promptly, and we were checked up on several times during our meal.
