I didn't have the best experience the last time I went to Tostadas. I dined here during my lunch time with some coworkers. We arrived at about 11:50, before the crowds arrived. I was excited to try the food as they had just reopened and remodeled from their fire. The waitress was very busy and honestly, very confused. We ordered all our food closer to 12pm. We were a larger party, but our food took way too long. The first meals came out for some people in our party at about 12:30. When they did, they were made incorrectly and needed to be sent back. The waitress was very confused about what was originally ordered and just kept running back and forth. I noticed that every table around us got their food before we did, even ones that ordered not too long ago. Most of us got our food at around 12:45pm, about an hour after we ordered. Even then, not all of us got our food with the last meal coming out at 12:55pm. For myself, I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes. They arrived about an hour after I ordered them, and they were bad. The bacon was pretty standard, the scrambled eggs were very overfried and crispy, and the potatoes were bland. Best part is that meal was $18!! :) I don't think I've ever been as disappointed at a restaurant than I was here. Not only were we on our lunch period getting food together and we didn't even have time to eat our food comfortably, the food itself was subpar at best. This is not a new experience, as I went to Tostadas about a year ago during lunch with a friend. The food took about 45 minutes to come out, and I had to take it to go immediately as I didn't have any time to eat it and had to go back to work. I'm disappointed with the service and food that I received at Tostadas and will not be returning back. read more

went here for dinner and had the best time!! we were immediately greeted such lively decor and music when we entered!! also love that the table booths gives us a sense of privacy. we got free starter chips and salsa while we decide what to order which took us a bit bc there's so many delicious options here. i ended up getting the shrimp tacos which was so good and crispy especially with the sauce they added with a side of rice. the only con here was that the server would check up on us every 20-30 mins but i'm sure they were busy with other people. anyways love the fun atmosphere here with delicious food!! we definitely need to come back to try the brunch read more

We arrived and it took a couple minutes until we were greeted and seated. It took another few minutes for the waiter to come take our drink orders or offer us water The food itself is ehhhh- my son ordered a burger, my husband ordered birria and I ordered chilaquiles. The patty itself was burnt and had this strong charred taste to it. My son did not even finish it and he loves burgers. The birria were okay but I guess you can't expect authentic Mexican taste from a spot like this. Same goes for the chilaquiles. As for the actual restaurant- it's located in a sketchy spot in DTSJ but that's pretty much everywhere. However, while we were eating, a homeless person walked in and started eating food and drinking from the glasses from the tables where people had already left but the silverware wasn't picked up. I am not sure we'll be dining here anymore- especially after seeing the last part. read more

Tostados is definitely a brunch staple in San Jose and it will always be lively and a good time. I am not the biggest fan of loud restaurants so I was a bit underwhelmed by the noise but the service was great and our waiter had a lot of great recommendations. read more

We hosted a large party for a bday event on a Sunday! Although super tight, the hosts were super accommodating for our large group. The top food were the ceviche and enchiladas. The kids meals had pretty large portions, so we had extra for each toddler. It is def a tough spot to host kids, but overall good food. read more

This place is great! We were looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled upon Tostadas. We were not expecting much and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious. I ordered the steak fajitas and my boyfriend ordered the poblano tacos. We also ordered the queso fundido. I know when I have good food because I overeat. Well, tonight I overate. For drinks, we ordered the Tulum and I had a good 'ol Mexican coke (never disappoints). The overall service was great. Our server, Robert O. was friendly and provided some laughs, great guy! We really wanted to try out the new look of Downtown Tostados and support local businesses. This location does NOT take reservations. And the fone # online goes to some corporate office so we couldn't even confirm if they had room for 8 of us on a Sunday early evening. So, it's hit or miss. We did the walk in as suggested and were placed under the BIG TV. There was already 2 large groups so they were unprepared for the volume of customers. Food was very good but the service and kitchen were " off key" coz they don't accept reservations. My meal arrived after everyone finished theirs and salads came after the meal....kinda disappointed. MY TIP: if you have a large group, go to the other location. Smaller tables are fine here and food was very good. read more

The inside of the restaurant is very nice and colorful, special artwork done by a local artist. The food was amazing, the concha French toast I originally wanted but they didn't have it so I opted for the tres leches French toast which did not disappoint. On a spontaneous trip to San Jose we were looking for a place to eat. We had heard Tostadas was good so we went over. Because it was a weekend there was already a line to get in. We put our names down and had to wait for about 45min to get seated. It was buzzing inside and full restaurant. Though the service was slow, the server was nice. A former coworker and I met for dinner on a Friday night. Walking in, the restaurant is very spacious and we were sat in the middle of the restaurant. There are booths and tables here. We ordered the elote, birria, and sliders. All the food was really good, but we made a mistake with the elote--it came on the cob! We didn't predict this and didn't have the courage to ask the wait staff to cut it for us. We asked for a knife but man, that was a strong cob. I let her take it home. We sat and chat for awhile, and around 8 we noticed DJ equipment was making its way inside. The lights were also changing... did this place turn into a club at night? I love love Mexican food but Tostada's has been a let down my last couple of visits. I had the Margarita flight and a quesadilla. The quesadilla was okay, their birria tacos are amazing which I had a previous visit. Bigger disappointment was their margarita flight, the watermelon one tasted stale - like when an already cut watermelon has been sitting in the fridge for a few days and develops that stale taste, ugh. I didn't even finish half the drinks. Their food quality seems questionable over all, I've seen mention of their health ratings. Service is okay, hard to expect excellent service at a place so packed but they do their best. read more

Is this restaurant still in business? The website says this location is now an Astroid Burger. But there are recent reviews on the same dates saying this is Tostadas. But this location of Tostadas isn't listed on the Tostada's website.

Not sure sorry, I know they offer alcohol fueled coffee creations. Very Good!!!

How's the parking around 3pm?

Every day is different. Usually from 3-4 is downtime so you won’t have an issue with parking during the week but weekends we can’t really say.

Can we make reservations? How come the phone is disconnected?

For parties above 6 they take soft reservations but otherwise it's come and wait.

Our waitress was very friendly and polite, and this review is absolutely not a reflection of her service. However, when we asked about the style of the food, there seemed to be a little hesitation in explaining it, which made us even more uncertain about what we had gotten ourselves into. I don't like bashing restaurants or their food, so I'll simply say that, unfortunately, the highlight of our meal was the chips and salsa. The cocktails, on the other hand, were good and definitely not shy on the alcohol! Also, don't expect large portions. The restaurant is clearly aiming for a more upscale presentation and experience, so the plates reflect that. Overall, Copita just wasn't for us. This was our first visit and unfortunately will probably be our last. I genuinely wish them success, but I think a few changes, especially when it comes to the flavors and authenticity of the food could make a big difference.

First time trying this place out and I'm not impressed. There's a monitor outside the main entrance where people are supposed to place their name for the waitlist which we did . Wait time was about 30 minutes and when the time came to check in with the host as it directs you we go in and the hostess says she gave our table . My wife and I were pretty upset since her response was just this " it happens". Once inside after waiting another 15 minutes we were welcomed with loud music and poorly coordinated service . Incorrect food was brought to the table twice and poor attentive hostess. It might be a good place if you're drunk at the end of the night and don't really care about waiting or the atmosphere, but for any other occasion I would avoid this place. Worst customer service ever. I came in around 12:45 as Yelp reservation. The host take 15 mins to seat us. She was completely gone for at least 10-25 mins for no reason. Finally we sat for outside table for two. We sat down for 25 mins without anyone service us. Finally I was so pissed and ask for someone to service us. Then someone took our order without any apologize. Then finally our main dish arrived and it's missing the flour. I asked the host for the missing flour. It took her 15 mins for her to ask the server to come to our table. The server was so pissed and with attitude to ask if anything is missing. Finally they brought us the missing flour and he was so rude. This is the worst customer service ever in my live and I still gave him 15% of the tips. Funny story, we didn't end up eating here but we're desperate for a restroom. If you're living around here, you know that all of the big name grocery stores and businesses don't allow public use of their restrooms due to the homeless population. We walked into tostadas and were immediately greeted by a friendly Robert. We let him know we wanted to place an order to go and he handed us a large menu. We only wanted to buy something to use the restroom and when we mentioned this to Robert, he said we could use the bathroom no problem free of charge. Over all experience AMAZING. Not only was the food delicious and flavorful with tons of unique flavors and spices including the pretty drinks! But our server made our night with the best experience we've had in awhile! Big thank you to Robert Ohh! I've been to Tostadas on two separate occasions, and both times was blown away by the quality and taste of the food. The first time I went, it was for weekend brunch and we ordered breakfast food and cocktails. The second time, I ordered the birria tostadas per my friend's suggestion, and they were so good and filling! Tostadas has an upbeat party atmosphere, so expect reggaeton pumping through the speakers and shots all around. You should be so lucky to have Alberto attend to you while you eat at Tostadas. An excellent meal becomes exceptional due to his gracious manner and attentiveness. San Jose is a wasteland of mediocre food, but Tostadas is our bright spot: an elevated take on good Mexican cuisine. We came here for outdoor dining a few weeks back and were blown away by the food, drinks, and service!! The carnitas skillet and carnitas benedict were so delicious and the portions were huge. The drinks were great too- I think we got the mimosas and paloma. I also came by and picked up their Taco Tuesday special: 15 tacos and 3 margaritas for $50!! It was so so good. Tried ordering through DoorDash and they didn't start our meal until the Dasher arrived. Then they said it would be 15 min. Then after 15 minutes we had to cancel because the dasher was told it would be another 30 minutes. Before ordering we tried calling to make sure we could order specials and no one ever picked up on multiple attempts to call. Food might be great but we wouldn't know since it apparently takes over an hour to even think about making it. read more

Ambiance: Very cute patio restaurant with bar seating, high tables, and traditional height tables. The layout is great. Summer evenings are perfect weather to visit but don't shy away from visiting in the winter; they have heaters and often have a warm seasonal drink to help warm you up when it's cold! Overall: love it! I keep coming back to try more things!
