The plumber (Mike) quickly fixed the sink and told me he needed to take the tub faucet apart to see what part was needed. Then he went out to his truck and came back saying he did not have the part and would need to go to Home Depot. At no time did he tell me he was going to charge me the repair rate of $187/hr for the trip to Home Depot. When he returned an hour later, I asked for the receipt for the part but he refused to show it to me. He charged me $145 for the part I later saw on Home Depot's website for $71. Since I never saw a receipt I don't know whether he went to Home Depot at all. Maybe he just had lunch on me. I do know I paid almost $200 for him to go to Home Depot! The total bill came to $646.91 and he did all the calculations on his tablet. I never received a receipt. Albion's website says their pricing is honest and transparent but it is neither. When I reported Albion to the Better Business Bureau they offered to refund about $65 for the part (admitting they overcharged me) but I have never received this money. I am not familiar with anything Plumming especially in my residence that is why I call professionals to guide me through the repairs needed. I don't expect to have to research a piece of equipment to see if I think it would work for what was recommended to address the problem. I rely on the professional to explain this to me and then allow me to make the decisions based on their input and experience. The owner did the right thing and replaced the parts and offered to remove the part that I was not fully pleased with.
