She was basically had a tone and attitude that she was better than others. She did the fake, high pitch condescending tone that everyone who has interacted with a bad boss can relate too. No, I do not have a drinking problem. In fact, I gave up soda but now I've replaced that with craft beer. And this location is the one I stop at when I'm in South Orange County. There's just so many to choose from and they've had the special releases that the "other" adult beverage store either doesn't get, or doesn't get a lot of and they've run out. The service from the associates is awesome. I've not encountered one yet, who didn't know their alcohol. I wonder if you have to be an alcoholic to even be considered to work there. I was here about a week ago to purchase some wine for an in-home date night. Before I even got out of the car I noticed a man who looked to be an employee (likely a supervisor or manager since he was wearing a tie) follow a couple out of the store, with his phone out, and started yelling at them. I'm honestly appalled that an employee would essentially chase two customers out to the store and record/photograph them with their phone. I've worked in retail and customer service for a decade and have never dreamed of chasing out customers or pulling out my phone to get them on camera! Total Wine has a huge selection of alcohol in stock from wine, beer, spirits, mead, etc,. They sell kegs of beer in the walk through freezer in the back which you can buy on the spot. They sometimes have people offering samples of wine or beer to promote their newest arrivals. The only downfall is the ridiculous group ID policy that they have in place and how the cashiers sacrifice customer service to ask for everyone's ID. read more

I've never been the type of person to feel to go off and write and bad review on a business, but after the situation I was in today it honestly left such a bad taste in my mouth. I work near the area and was on my lunch break and went to go pick up a few bottles of liquor for a dinner party I was going to later in the evening. I asked my coworker if she wanted to tag along with me just for company (as she wasn't going to purchase anything so she left her wallet at work). I get to register to make my purchase and the girl at the register asked for both of our IDs. I let the girl at the register know that I was the one purchasing the alcohol not her. As I'm grabbing my ID the supervisor named Junanita came out of nowhere and let me know that I was not going to be able to purchase the alcohol because my coworker did not have her ID and due to the fact that we came as a "group". Not going to lie I was a bit thrown off but I completely understood where she was coming from AT FIRST. I then let her know that if I could leave them on hold and when I got off of work I would just go back (obviously by myself) and pay for them then. She then proceeds to tell me that wasn't going to happen and that MY COWORKER WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK WITH ME AND SHOW HER ID TO HER SO I CAN MAKE MY PURCHASE. LIKE GIRL SHE DONT LIVE WITH ME WHY TF WOULD SHE NEED TO BE THERE???? . Juanita claimed that it was store policy and because we "looked between the age of 21-30". So you're telling me if I came back 3 days later Juanita is gonna be there with my 3 bottles waiting for my coworkers ID still? I feel so ridiculous writing a damm novel about my experience but I was honestly just so disappointed in the way we were treated today and probably never going back there. And looking at the recent reviews it seems that I'm not the only person this has happened too. This review is for Alan. he was in the whiskey section on a ladder- demonstrating ladder safety and doing his job. Kudos! Then- there was a man asking about a specific type of whiskey. Alan knew exactly what he was referring to. He told him when the product comes in and then went on to tell him that people wait in line for that specific product. Alan was so helpful and geniune in his approach with the customer- i was blown away. Alan then spotted that I needed a case to be opened and he quickly came to assist me by calling a manager over. Alan was polite, professional and you could tell that he LOVED his job. Kudos to the hiring manager that found Alan. Sometimes inside large corporations, it can be hard to stand out. Went into the store with my older sister (who is 22) to purchase my mother a bottle of champagne for her birthday. The cashier at the front called for an ID Check because I'm 20 (about to turn 21) I simply just went with my sister because we were next door at Nordstrom Rack. Once the manger came up he gave my sister and I a snarl and stated their policy and greeted us with a condescending, negative, and rude attitude. Ultimately her refused to sell to us because I was not 21 (I was not the one purchasing nor was it for me) even after my sister stated her reason for purchasing it. (for our mothers birthday). Needless to say none of my family will be coming back (even my parents are frequent shoppers and I've often come in with them and they've purchased with no problem). Total Wine Corporate: I suggest you train your staff better on how to handle these situations as it may rub many people the wrong way. I went to the checkout and the lady was super mean and asked to see her ID even though she was leaving the store. She didn't have it on her (although she had a picture of it). Anyways, after explaining to the cashier that she just said hi and left, and she didn't even look at the alcohol, the cashier told me to leave and not come back for the day. Some workers are knowledgeable but some are not, very 50/50. I think the cashiers are fine but they really slow the process down. Everyone in your party has to show their ID, even if they are the ones doing the actual purchase. There was a young guy in the back that really helped us, based off of his suggestion, we ended up buying 3 packs of it, didn't get his name but if I do later, will update. 2 stars for not having a huge sign that says they'll check every person of the purchasing partys' ID. EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF! I was running errands with my friends for a thanksgiving dinner, so one stop was to Total Wine. They now ID the entire group, which I explained I didn't have my ID with me. The lady was extremely rude and kept calling us "young kids" and to have her manager come over asap. She paged him 4 times, enunciating that we were "young kids" over and over again. Obviously if it took this many times to contact him, he didn't care about handling this solution! I already told her that I could just leave since I didn't have my ID, but she insisted on calling her manager. What was the point on the manager coming except for her to want to call us names and prolong our awkward experience? She even told us that there was no reason for me not to have my ID with me if I knew I was going to be in an alcohol store. There was literally a 6 year old child there, why doesn't she ask that child's mom? Why can't I just be with someone on their errand? After I left, my friends were treated horribly by her as well. They thought that the lady was just very stern about the ID thing, but she was very reluctant to give any wine suggestions and plain rude. I came shopping for two bottles of wine. My wife had been out of the country for several weeks and I wanted to surprise her with a couple of nice bottles when she got home. I brought my 26 year old sister with me to run some errands. She forgot her ID and we we refused service at check out. It was frustrating but I get that there are rules. I went and dropped my sister off at home and went back to the store to complete my purchase. When I went to check out with Juanita, I was treated like a criminal trying to sneak an illegal purchase. She would not let me speak and kept taking over me...extremely rude and condescending. She was easily the least professional person that I have encountered in the service industry. I was at a compete loss of words and could not understand the logic. It seems that the Total Wine logic is because I was in the store with someone, without an ID, I am now blacklisted from shopping at total wine? My go to liquor store when I'm back in Southern California... The Pros: -Hella selection for all types of liquor. Craft beers, all types of wines, all types of liquor and even mixers. -Excellent prices... whether it's a spirit, beer, or wine, you will find it for any price point that fits your budget. Craft beers seem to be cheaper than what local grocery stores sell at. I also find Total Wine to be cheaper than BevMo 90% of the time. -They seem to have just the right amount of staff working registers especially during the busy holiday season. Even if its crowded, you'll still be able to check out quickly. -Hella parking... no issues here. -Staff is always looking to help you out if they find you browsing. Been coming here for like 5 years and never had this issue . My cousin is 19 and has also ran errands with me in the past and has been with me while I purchased alcohol at this specific location with no trouble . Now they decide to id both of us and refuse to sell me one pack of Trulys because he is under age . I try to explain myself but the manager Carlos just looks back at him and asks for his ID again . Do you guys not listen to the fact that he is underage and he doesn't drink at all ? He was just running errands with me . Make it make sense . Rented out a keg he filled out my paper work didn't give me any information on how to use or when or how to return . Had to ask and wen I did it was a total attitude with him and his employees they just assumed I knew how to work a keg which was totally stupid because as I returned it I was unaware that the tap wasn't suppose to be on . I was never informed so it's not my fault for bringing it back that way. I promise I'm not an alcoholic. But, as I get older, I do find myself enjoying alcohols in a more mature fashion instead of going straight for the cheapest tequila or the worst-tasting vodka. Hence, Total Wine is more or less a godsend to me. Like Bevmo, Total Wine has a LOT of alcohol. However, I think Total Wine gives you more room in the aisles to really ponder what you are purchasing and, with the tall aisleways, you sort of have privacy on really thinking on what to purchase. Plus, it's just fun holding a half-dozen bottles in your arms while teetering-tottering back to whereever hubby is with the gradually heavier cart, without the worry of knocking over an enter aisleway of glass. Like Bevmo, the alcohol is a little cheaper than what you may find at a liquor store, and Total Wine's prices are akin to Bevmo. Some items are higher at Total Wine than Bevmo and vice versa, but I think there's more variety of items you can choose, ESPECIALLY with wine. If you're a wino, I think Total Wine is a much better option to peruse through versus Bevmo. Also, the organization makes sense, as Total Wine separates wine by region of the world and what kind of wine (champagne, red, white, merlot, port, box wines, etc.) Staff has always been great. For the most part, they leave you alone, but will ask if you need help. I tend to not really know my wines at all, so I can't pretend I know anything, but I'm thankful that the employees don't try and push me into a realm of wines that I completely don't understand or they push me into buying something I may not actually want. Another thing I like about Total Wine is just how cleaaaaan they are. Haven't had an issue with sticky floors or stuff leaking everywhere on the floor/shelves. Parking isn't too bad. Huge shopping center. However, trying to get into the parking lot is what is probably the biggest pain in the butt. And, if you're looking at Black Friday or the holiday season, good luck. Just be patient and you'll get through it, but it's definitely a bit more troublesome than normal. Also, evenings (especially Friday evenings/nights) are sort of annoying if you're trying to get into the shopping center. read more

A Cashier name Anne Marie, rudely demand all of us to show ID to proof we are over 21, which all 4 of us are all over 30.
