I loved Town Hall Station! We had a lovely dinner on the patio with great weather and great service. It was a Tuesday, so the taco and margarita deals were out to play! I had two tacos (both so good) and of course, a marg. This place has a fun retro feel while also remaining contemporary. They have a strong beer selection and the menu is vast. It's one of those places that you really can find anything you're in the mood for. Prices were reasonable and everyone was very friendly! Highly recommend. read more

I had heard about this new place oh so close to my home base and was excited to give it a try. Since new restaurants can get crazy busy, I opted for lunch. In fact I like it so well I came for lunch two days in a row. The food: it's got a wonderful menu with many tantalizing choices making it difficult for me to choose. On my first visit I had the walleye tacos (excellent, with great flavors and very tasty) and on day two the chicken shots appetizer (3 glasses with 3 different sauces in each and 3 large meaty chicken strips (hand-cut I think, definitely NOT preformed). The chicken strips were too much food for lunch and I brought half home. Drinks: they've got a ton of craft beers and several tasty craft cocktails (I had the Towncar (bourbon-based-good) and day two the special house brewed root beer (not too sweet-a bit filling), although no fronts mugs. Service: still sorting this out-on a busy Friday at lunch the food came roaring out but a day later on Saturday the pace was a bit more leisurely. Not a problem, but I think the staff is still getting into a rhythm. Ambiance: for alfresco dining there's a big airy patio that effectively doubles the seating at this small restaurant. Inside are booths and the big garage doors were open on both my visits making inside a bit outside too. Parking: there's a weird lot with a bunch of spaces but it clearly needs to be re-striped to fit in more cars. Friday there was no place to park and the streets on either side of the restaurant don't allow street parking. This is something that will need sorting out. There's still 5-6 more items on the menu that I'd like to try so I'm sure I'll be back on the sunny patio sometime soon. read more

My wife and I were looking for a local place for supper, a cocktail or two, and to catch the Wild game. Many places can provide that but Town Hall Station also gave us a sense of charm, hospitality and the best service we've gotten anywhere since moving into the city! Ashley was willing to change channels so I could see a screen unobstructed, made a FANTASTIC Bourbon Manhattan, and recommended the Taco of the moment and all of it was truly wonderful. Many of the servers (and even the host) would check in on us while walking past and would strike up a short conversation even though they were on other tables or behind the bar! The staff worked together like a well oiled machine making our experience delightful. Thank you Ashley and everyone! We'll be back. read more

I love all of the Town Halls, and each offers something different. Though Town Hall Tap is my favorite, this followed the path of a decent beer and burger. The Chicken Tenders Though comes with 3 sauces - buffalo, honey Chipotle and barbecue. They are served in glasses (that look like shot glasses) which was different. This place is a 2 mile walk from me, so my wife and I hoofed it during a perfect day. I have been to the other Town Halls, and they have always been awesome. We entered the old gas station and didn't realize we were supposed to check in, as they don't have a sign. I was going to give them 4 stars instead of 5 for this, but they have only been open for a week or so. It took us 12 minutes to realize this, we would have liked for one of the 5 servers passing by us to notice we did not have anything. I ordered the house cherry lager. Pretty good, followed up by my favorite Marsala Mama. I got the BBQ pork sammy with a side salad sub with blue cheese on the side. FANTASTIC! Super smokey and the slaw wasn't too creamy. Salad was great, not just iceberg crud. The open air of the old service station doors are a huge plus, and everyone is super nice. (A little slow, but we were not in a rush) Good times. read more

So, you might like this place more than I did. My lukewarm rating is because 1) I just didn't like my food very much, 2) it's a little overpriced, and 3) it's popular enough that you can expect to have to wait for a table, especially if you want to sit outside. And yet, my companions really liked their experience! Between them they had a spicy chicken sandwich, a handsomely-presented plank of chicken tenders which came with a little waffle, potato salad, and asparagus. I tried one of the chicken tenders and it was great; they loved everything else they had. But I got a weird thing called a "Black H2O Short Rib Melt" which the staff seemed excited about. Calling it a "melt" is particularly disingenuous, since there was no cheese that I could detect (the description referred to "Parmesan smashed potatoes"; but what I experienced were baby potatoes, intact and ostensibly cheese-free). I mostly just ate the rib meat and some of the potatoes. I also ordered a separate cup of chill which was okay. A note on the menu warned that this specific entree doesn't come with a side. One reason why a three-star rating might seem a little out of joint is that the environment is totally, totally cool. They installed this charming restaurant on the site of an old corner gas station, and they seem to have kept the original building as well as the 1950s roadside station atmosphere. They have a large patio which fills up quickly; I suspect that in the winter the seating capacity for this place will suffer dramatically. The interior decor is all really neat, and it's just a cozy place to hang out and eat & drink. So I do think my review would be more positive if I hadn't gotten that odd entree. read more

Nacho Average Monday travels to the burbz! I was surprised at how delicious these nachos were. At first glance this place kind of looks like a weird strip mall restaurant. But when you sit down, you realize it's a neighborhood spot that locals love. NACHO REVIEW: We ordered the Sweet Corn Nachos that comes with smashed potatoes on it! Woah what! Potatoes on nachos? It worked. It really worked. These nachos had ample toppings, chip to cheese ratio is on point. Toppings all had great flavor but were missing something zingy. Maybe more salsa? First visit to Town Hall was a Sunday evening when the restaurant was less than 20% full. The interior of the repurposed gas station looks great and the overall design provides a great spring, summer and fall venue. The menu is relatively diverse and includes items ranging from Chicken Fried Steak and pulled pork to a good selection of tacos, enchiladas and some run of the mill salads. My Fish and Chips arrived quickly and at a good temperature along with my dinner partner's plate of large enchiladas (see photos). The fish was good quality/texture and tasty (no tartar sauce in the place...oh well, it was a Sunday evening so I guess I was in a forgiving mood...*s*) and the batter was good...not too much which is an issue in so many restaurants. The enchiladas were tasty, fairly spicy but well made. This is a huge portion, half of which left the restaurant in a box. The combination of a nice setting, good food and just above average service makes this a "go back to" place when we'll try some of the more interesting offers on the menu. I've enjoyed other restaurants in this local company's group and appreciate their dedication to reuse of space that would otherwise be neglected or torn down and some creativity in menus. Give it a try and see if you agree. read more

5 stars because of the service and atmosphere. My first beer was good, my second beer was just okay (it was their signature cherry lager but I didn't love the sweetness of the beer). I think it was mostly my personal preference that made me not love the beer. The food was good, I enjoyed the chicken as an appetizer with 3 different sauces and the mock duck sandwich more than the tacos. Overall, fun place to check out! read more

Awesome location and the kind of place where you could get to know your neighbors and hang out over a few beers. This is owned by Town Hall Brewery so you know you are going to get some very good beers. I say get their flight of five beers. That way you can't go wrong and all the beers are pretty good. On the other hand, the food and service are good, not bad not great, just good. Lots of people order their burgers and again, they are good. I could say the same for just about everything we have tried. Still, I like this place simply for the vibe and their outdoor sitting area. It's definitely worth a stop. read more

We ate here last night. . .and I have to say, the quality of the food has slipped a lot since I last ate here, pre-pandemic. My son ordered a grilled cheese that looked like not fully cooked, with the American cheese not really fully melted. The bread was not grilled and basically, when my son got it, he said "It looks like someone did not care about making this - it doesn't look good." His fries were also overcooked . . along with his friend's fries that came with a hamburger. The fries looked like they were scrapped from the bin of leftovers. The chips were broken up with guacamole and the salsa tasted not quite right. On the bright side, our server replaced the grilled cheese with a hamburger and was nice about doing so and did not charge us. I like that this is close to us and it's a neighborhood place but the quality of the food needs to get back to where it was before I come back again. read more

New place in town! I had heard many fun stories of friend and family visiting this local place in the summer, but haven't had the time to check it out until now (February). It is a cute bar with tacos, apps beer and more. It was taco Tuesday when we went ($2 off all tacos) and happy hour ($2 off all apps). We settled on the sweet corn nachos. The single star is for the atmosphere. It's a shame such a nice looking place has such terrible service and food. All the employees seemed like they hated being there. The French fries were okay-literally any place can have passable French fries- the burger my boyfriend had was so incredibly bland and dry, my quesadilla was straight up something a child would make for themselves after school, and my drinks tasted like bleach. I had a Paloma. Rather, I had a glass full of bleach and ice with a hint of grapefruit. I had two sips and had to go to the bathroom to wash the horribly strong taste out of my mouth. The service was terrible. Our waiter came once to take our order and once to give us our bill. He disappeared after that and I had to go to the bar to pay it. If a laid back atmosphere is what you're looking for, come check this place out. Service is good with a casual attire of jeans and a t shirt and inside is a vibe of a "done up" bar food joint. I ordered the black bean burger which was good but I wouldn't order again. They tried to make it more southwest with avocado and salsa. Really, they should've just went with a black bean burger as a typical vegetarian option. My husband however ordered some burger with cheese, bacon, and bbq sauce which was divine. Oh and the French fries? Super crispy and literally some of the best fries ever. We will for sure be back when we are craving a casual experience and a cold beer. read more

Got walleye breaded fingers on a hoagie bun with romaine lettuce and onions. No sauce, no lemon, no tarter sauce. Dryest sandwich ever! Crispy fries were great! another ordered a chicken taco received a chicken sandwich for $10 more and charged for sandwich even though she was talked into keeping the sandwich. Was here with my kids tonight. We got the chicken tenders flight, which was over greased and overcooked, very tough chicken. The Buffalo cauliflower, was decent, but the breading was poor and the tots, which were like wet hash browns bread and fried in tube. I've eaten at the Town Hall near the U of M and was blown away at the menu and everything was superbly cooked. Here was just a whole lot of not wanting to come again. read more

Very nice beer selection from Town Hall and other local brewery's. Very cool patio. Interesting looking menu. Great happy hour. Here are the things that I don't love: the food was generally really salty. The cocktails are reasonably priced but small. The menu is fairly small. The food just wasn't as good as it sounded. The short rib melt was a very diners dish but overall was sort of uninteresting and salty. I ate it all, but still wouldn't order it again. My wife had the Marlin salad. The prices were good but didn't really work together. So yea, end of the day and I will be back to try other things, because I want this place to work. read more

I stumbled across this little gem when a friend check in on Facebook. After doing a little research I knew I had to check it out. Nothing better than good beer, a patio, and a cool place close to home. Since they are a brewery there are a decent amount of signature beers. What's nice about this place is that they also have a guest beer list to feature other brewers as well. I ordered the town hall sampler so I could try their signature beers. I enjoyed the nitro beer and the pale ale. They do have cocktails too. We had a town car that tasted so awful with the bitters, do not recommend that! We didn't have any food but it all looked really yummy as it was coming out of the kitchen. Will have to come back and try it out. read more

They are stupid high, and have NO FOOT PLATE so you are precariously balancing on a hard wood disc while your ass and legs fall asleep because there's nowhere to rest your feet. Ok. Thank you for letting me share that. Next impression. Food. Cheese curds. A+ House made Tater Tots. A+ Wings A+ Walleye Taco A+ Poblano Potato "taco" B Fried chicken A+ ( hold the salad. That sucked) Overall. Food is good. But do NOT get suckered into ordering the chips/guac if you order a taco. You will be disappointed with a giant plate of not-good chips and a tablespoon of not-great guac. Last impression. Dessert. Belgian waffle with caramel A++ Chocolate Lava cake D- Let me explain... when you gush about a dessert made by a neighboring bakery, I'll order it 9/10 times. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but overall our experience was not good. I ordered the BLTG with a side of the wild rice hot dish. The bacon on my sandwich was barely cooked and super fatty. The wild rice hot dish was more of a casserole and came out luke warm. Aside from the temperature and appearance, the food didnt even taste good. My girlfriend got the fried chicken sandwich and it looked and tasted like they left the chicken in the fryer WAY too long. This was our second attempt at dining here, as the first time we went in, the manager was extremely rude and we ended up just leaving. My father seemed to enjoy his turkey club, but overall this place has very below average food, with average service. Would not recommend! read more

The sweet corn nachos are my favorite thing on the menu. They are a unique take on nachos with potato instead of meat. The proportions of all the toppings are great. Neat atmosphere but Just okay... Went there on a chilly night so the patio doors were closed which is good but doesn't explain all the flies. We liked the pretzel - soft, good size and good flavor. Not overpowering jalapeño. But that's about the only flavor. We had the Taco of the day. Looked great but very bland. The black bean burger was okay too but nothing I would go out of my way for. Service was a bit slow and kind of pushy - "Are you sure you don't want an alcoholic beverage? How about beer? We also have root beer. " same thing with dessert.
