The server was awesome and the menu was incredible. I ordered the gin and juice cocktail and wowie - I was very impressed. I love a good gin based cocktail since it really brings out the flavor of all the other liquors and flavors. We were wanting some good pick at so we ordered that veggie sushi roll and the Gouda mac and cheese. The veggie roll was the best I've ever had. After talking with a few folks, I've been told that as a senior, I was perhaps, there at the wrong time. Saturday night at the Townhouse Detroit is a whole vibe, with loud house music, dancing ladies, and a bongo player circling the dining area! A bit hard to enjoy my meal, but it was great for the younger crowd! As for my meal, I got the house pasta with chicken, and the crab beignets. The pasta was a rigatoni, and it was undercooked and chewy. The pasta sauce was great, as was the chicken. The crab beignets were excellent. I dropped a star for the pasta. I had a great experience on Monday night at Townhouse Detroit. I was craving Branzino and the restaurant I would usually go to is closed on Mondays. So, I went to see if Townhouse brought back their branzino to the menu and boy did they ever! It was even better than before. Butterflied and grilled to perfection. Crispy charred skin, flaky and meaty underneath. The peanut cabbage salad with fresh vinaigrette was the perfect compliment to this wonderful dish. I enjoyed every bit as you can see I always enjoy their big eye tuna (tuna crispy rice) and their signature Gin and Juice cocktail. I also enjoyed the Venice Beach cocktail. It was the perfect level of "not too sweet" involving pamplemouse and pinot grigio. 10/10 visit to Townhouse. Sit at the bar. This place truly is so good. Yes pricey, but it's worth it from the drinks, to the apps, to the mains. Such a neat south beach Miami type vibe to the place, didn't even feel like I was in downtown Detroit. Kind waitstaff and a dj starts performing during dinner services. We had amazing time during Saturday dinner at this Townhouse location! Yes, it wasn't cheap but the experiences, atmosphere and the food made it worth it. The open sky, greenhouse feel of the dining room was amazing, with this very Miami feel. Wait staff dressed in tailored uniforms and very professional and attentive. It took a bit too long to get the food out but it was compensated by restaurant serving a few "on the house" appetizers while we waited. But once the food arrive - it was worth the wait. Burger was delicious! Thinly sliced beets were amazing, just as was the mushroom appetizer! Chicken schnitzel dish was a good size portion and also tasty. And you cannot leave this place without having their trade mark double cherry shaped dessert. Absolutely finger kicking good! Best eaten with a cappuccino. To top it all as the night went on we were treated to an amazing show. DJ spinning music that made it hard to remain seated, dancers walked around dressed in sexy outfits with beautiful props, a drummer drummed to the beat as he walked around the room. It was a painful wait. Mac and cheese and salmon dish came out super salty. Fried mushrooms tasted like just fried batter. The bread that came with the burrata was too smokey/charred tasting it was overkill. Truffle fries, the fries itself was soggy and dry and needed more flavor, maybe just even a bit more salt. Fried wontons could've been better. With the richness of the foi gra, it came with a really sweet sauce but I feel like something with more acidity would've been better. Friends got chicken and waffles and it was really dry and already really sweet so maple syrup would've been overkill to add on top. Bao buns were good overall but not spicy what so ever. Didn't really seem like a Nashville hot chicken bao bun. The pickeled jalapeño it came with was actually super sweet. Calamari was good. I would come back just for cocktails and the aesthetics. I enjoyed the chicken schnitzel pita and fries, and my friend enjoyed her mushroom toast. The best cocktails I've had in a long time. This restaurant's food was complete average. And one night from the next changes the experience also. So a month ago, I came here for a bday dinner and the experience was great even though the food was subpar. Our drinks were awesome and the waiter was amazing with great energy. The BDAY girl was given a slice complimentary cake and ice cream and her lemon drop had a design in the froth that said happy birthday on it. Fast forward to last week, where I took my sister for her bday because I raved about it so much. She invited her friends, etc. The server was new I think because she didn't know much about the menu. Our bar tender was serving drinks that looked like I mixed them myself in the car while driving. I specifically booked announcing it was a birthday, and the server said she gave my sister a free glass of champagne instead of the slice of cake when I asked about it. Usually they bring the cake with the sparklers. My sister hates champagne and would never order it, so it was a bit lame to bring that and not ask or offer a choice. She got two orders wrong, and honestly, it wouldn't have mattered much because the food was awful including the sushi that felt like it was day old. The ambiance and decor is 10/10 but the food and service 5/10 even on a slow day. Sucks, because I had high hopes. I doubt I will be back. I can spend the same amount of money across the street at Zuzu and have a far better experience and great food. read more

I wish someone would have told us it was raw- I couldn't eat it. I got a mocktail- I asked for something fresh with mint or basil- I was given juice style wine with a mint leaf - it was horribly sweet. The smoke and mirrors were good. There was much dirt on our table from the plants I guess ? But whatever that's fine. Our Bill was 110$ - kind of lame. Celebrated my friend's birthday here and we were impressed! We came during brunch on Sunday and were lucky to get seated right away. The atmosphere was so cute and posh - I immediately said we would back for a girls brunch. There were nice sofas and plants indoors, it felt really fancy. Our waitress, Cassandra was really sweet. It was our first time so she recommended I get "The Richard" which was a cinnamon orange espresso and it was exactly what I needed after a 2.5 hour drive. I ordered the bacon and egg and my friend got the chicken schnitzel and we both loved it! I told Cassandra it was my friend's birthday and she got us mimosas and crème brûlée. The place felt private, which made our date night even more intimate. We were only here to kill time and grab a drink. We also decided to order a couple apps. Both plated well. Maitake Mushroom had good chew and wasn't over-battered. The bigeye tuna app was a lil too sticky and crunchy and smaller than we imagined it would be. The rice definitely sticks to your molars so not a good first date choice if you're planning on kissing later. The drinks were good and the presentation was wonderful. A lil torch of the lemon and a branded ice cube in the bourbon drink. The gin & juice drink w/aloe was refreshing. At $16+ each - we hoped to at least feel a lil buzz, but that wasn't the case. Two drinks and two apps for $100. Overall, come here for the service and ambiance and don't expect to get drunk or full unless too want to break the bank. read more

So before we got here I will say Parking is a little difficult to find, we had to use something called "The One Detroit Garage" which is just right next door to the Townhouse. When we walked in the first thing I thought was that this place looks amazing, smells amazing and just an all around good vibe. It is quite louder than other restaurants so if you don't like loud people & music this isn't for you. I was sitting right next to my wife and I couldn't hear her talking. We got to sit in what they call The Atrium which it was outfitted with fliers, trees, plants and really cool seating. They had their own DJ in this section which was just straight pumping music, I was loving the vibe, dinner, dance music and a DJ... very nice. We ordered drinks and I decided to get non alcoholic drinks since it was the wife's birthday I let her get drinks and I had some of their tea concoctions, I had a tea called "London Fog" it was Black Lavender Tea & Steamed Milk, it was literally the best tea I have ever drank, I literally didn't know that steamed milk was a thing in tea until now. So then we ordered appetizers and our dinners. For an appetizer we ordered Blue Crab beignet, it did take about an hour for our appetizer to get here so don't expect it to show up within 15 minutes or sooner and it was quite expensive but it was VERY delicious, the crab meat was very tasty and was truly something to talk about because I have never had this before and it really was delicious! We then ordered our dinners and I had the Seared Salmon and she had the Filet. When it finally got here the first thing I noticed is that the portion size will DEFINITELY not fill you up so if you are expecting to leave this place full that is not gonna happen, HOWEVER, the food was amazing it is very delicious, all of it, the Seared Salmon didn't have a fishy taste at all and the flavoring was perfect, the wife's Filet came with vegetables and her meal was very delicious as well, the carrots were crispy and the steak was very flavorful and as you cut into the juice seeped out making it even more delicious. I also had another tea which was called "The Richard" it was very smooth not as good as the London Fog but still very good. All in all this environment was very nice to be in, the view of this place is just in awe of where your at, it feels like your not even in downtown Detroit. read more

Everything started out so good, the ambiance was fab, we were seated outside in the glass area, server was so pleasant, super friendly. We ordered drinks and a few apps. Drinks were fantastic. The brussels and fried mushrooms were amazing. The server said that the sushi would take 30 minutes, they were waiting on a shift change (?) odd but totally get it. 30 minutes goes by, server still assures us that sushi was being made. 45 minutes goes by, server once again says sushi is being prepped now. An hour goes by, we start to see another table getting their sushi. Great! 1:15, no sushi! Anywho, we have up on the sushi, ask the server to cancel the order. No problem at all, a little irked, but whatever. There was not a lot of empathy, no "oh let us get you another glass of wine" or "oh would you like to see the menu again and order a different option?" The service kinda fumbled on the goal line at this point. We get our bill, charged for everything but the sushi. Again, whatever. Everything we had was great, but we were there almost 2.5 hours waiting for some mythical sushi that would never arrive. All in all, the price we paid for 4 drinks and two apps didn't match the way we felt our experience was. Started off so strong, but ended very sadly. Off to find some other sushi read more

Gorgeous restaurant with garden decor, complete with live birds. I don't understand the low ratings here, everything we tried was fabulous. This is my fifth time here. It's definitely a pricey restaurant but you get what you pay for. Today we came for brunch with eleven ladies and our server Patrick did a great job keeping everyone happy. He even brought us some complimentary champagne so we could toast the birthday girl. I loved my burger, which was perfectly grilled to medium. The cocktails are all divine. Our server was kind enough to make my drink special with a "Happy Birthday" on top. They also sent over an edible candle. Our appetizer and entrees were all pretty good portions for lunch. My favorite was the Julia desert which is a cheesecake and crème brulee hybrid (big enough to share!) Would be interested in trying out dinner menu in the future. Note that could not locate an accessible/ramp entrance for the restaurant and even tried through the building lobby but it was locked.
