Just went for the first time after walking/driving/riding past it hundreds of times since moving out here. Absolutely clean and peaceful inside (there's a fishtank so even if you're solo, you have company) and that food was fresh and DELICIOUS. It actually was so good that I'm about to go back again as soon as my fiancé gets off work, right after I post this. I got their basic popular combo, chicken over rice with a california roll. Worth it just for this, but I've heard from locals that all the food is great here. The woman behind the counter is great and clearly takes pride in her menu and restaurant. As she well should! I'm a lifelong front of house worker (currently bartending but I've worked every FOH position) and my partner is a chef, so we know good food and good restaurant experiences. I don't understand how this place got 4 and a half stars. It's absolutely terrible. I ordered the Katsu curry chicken. It was so tough that my scissors had a hard time cutting through it. Same for the orange chicken. The curry sauce was ok but obviously from a packet or curry block. Ugh. So disappointing. Won't be going back. Not even during an apocalypse. Terrible. If you're looking for some good house fried rice with beef, shrimp and chicken THIS IS THE PLACE! I came here a week ago and was always curious about it! Well i'm happy i gave it a shot because the food is just darn delicious here! That house rice combo is some of the best you definitely get a generous portion of it. I really wanted to get the short ribs but at $15 dollars i felt it was a bit expensive. i just got fried rice but for sure going to try more items. I am not from this area but we drove past this place and something told me to look them up on yelp. And am I glad I did... we got the combination fried rice and the beef and chicken teriyaki. When I tell you that the chicken is the best chicken teriyaki I've had.. I. AM. NOT. LYING. To me, hands down the best chicken teriyaki. Truly enjoyed the beef bowl from this place! Quick and friendly service. They do have an outdoor seating area... however, I would only order food to-go (they're located next to a self-serve car wash. Kept feeling the spray of water bouncing off of the cars being washed while waiting for my food). Been going to Toyo Bowl for years! Mom & pop shop and the lady is always sweet on the phone and in person. There's a comfort about this place that I can't quite put my finger on, but I'm all about it ! I LOVE this place !! Great food at a great price! This place is such a gem! Been there for a while but I just recently discovered it thanks to a good friend. The wanton soup is probably the best in the South Bay. Packed with huge delicious freshly made wantons in the soup. I also like their California rolls. Not usually a fan of California rolls but they do something special with their mix. Also love their house fried rice and chow mein. They don't skimp on the portions and both dishes are absolutely loaded with beef, chicken, and shrimp. Don't miss out on this place. Toyo Bowl is so cool! They are a fusion of Japanese and Chinese foods. Their taste is smooth with a clean finish. If you have never had a California roll which you appreciated (this is the sushi without any raw fish) then you have to try theirs because it tastes like it was invented here. You must know that unfortunately there's little to no parking. The phrase "hole in the wall" might suffice. There's no bathroom for customer use. This has been my and my service dog's go-to for chinese, as it's terrific food, well priced and a couple blocks' walk away. The proprietors adore him and he invariably adds delight to​ the dining experience for everyone. Until today. One of the diners demanded to see my service dog's papers, which as anyone knows, is not their place, but the owner's or manager's - besides the fact that there are no papers for service dogs required by a government agency - only fake papers and tags that people buy to prove to the suspicious to shut them up quickly. (I COULD buy a tag and papers for any dog and, well! service dog). He wouldn't quit, the proprietors didn't intercede on my behalf, eventually offering me take-out. I ALWAYS dine in. The fellow called me a foreigner, for some odd reason, probably because I s​poke correct English in full sentences and wore nice clothing, well, anyway he called me a (GASP) European. While the owners stood by. I may order their stuff delivered, but I don't think I will put myself through that again. read more
