NO! Tourist trap, uninformed locals that don't know any better come here. You might think you're getting a classy Italian experience, but you're not. Parking: probably the only good thing about this place during dinner time with several people is that we were all able to find a parking spot. Front Desk: we showed up early, and asked if our reservation was ready. The Owner (from Rome) had no clue who we were, couldn't find it under the last name. Quite frankly, he had that arrogant, nose in the air type vibe, like we were all peasants trying to eat at his Kingly Palace or something. And he treated us like that too! On the way to the front desk, yes it is confusing to figure out where that is and how to get to it, we asked the owner if he makes the pasta with Squid Ink. Because there's a "black and white" pasta we saw passing through the maze of tables. The owner had no clue, and didn't know how the black pasta was made "black." And he was Rude about it! For Heaven's Sake, you are the owner. You should know these things. Tightly packed, we ended up deciding to wait outside. WTF, there's no Bar!? Beer and wine only. They've been open for three years. You would think in that amount of time they would get a liquor license to be able to do mixed drinks. There's also no actual "bar" to sit at. So if you're waiting for a table, you're kind of stuck outside in the cold, Malibu wind. After about 10 minutes, the rest of our party showed up, and we found a younger woman there at the front desk this time.. Friendly, bubbly, Thank God! She said, "oh yes, right this way." At least she knew what was going on. Service: Terrible. The bread came late, by 20 minutes, and we asked TWICE. When we first walked in around 6pm, the place was packed. As tables were clearing, we didn't receive any better service. We saw "waiters," we think, putting away empty tables, instead of providing more service to the people at the tables that were still there. And there were like a dozen of these guys running all around like a beehive. Makes no sense. Food: lousy honestly. Some dishes looked pretty on the plate though... if you're here to take Instagram photos??? The taste of the tomato-based pastas was too sour. They say that the pasta is made in house. But really hard to tell. Fresh, homemade pasta, has that springiness to it. This stuff was maybe made off-site by a big restaurant supplier, and then delivered. The veal scallopini was drowned in sauce, like a soup, and too much lemon. Arugula salad, NO dressing. I think all they did was spritz it with a little lemon. But there was no salt, no pepper, nothing. It's like they took arugula out of the package, and threw it on the plate, put some cheese slices on top, and served it to you The steak.. $35+, and all you get is 2 measly strips (6oz). Flavorless. Bland, didn't have any savory taste, nothing. And they give you cubed, fried potatoes on the side that didn't have any flavor at all. Hello, use a little salt? Fried Calamari, looked good in the basket, not enough of them, was like rubber though. Tiramisu dessert: no joke, this was the one in the glass cups that they sell at Costco.. $9 for 6 of them. Same exact thing, they just added a cookie on top, and charged $15 EACH. Are you serious? They didn't make it themselves? I would never go back to this place. Tra di Noi has the best gluten free pizza crust in the Los Angeles area--maybe the world. It has the right amount of sweet and crunch to go with all of their authentic toppings. Leave your restraint at home and get one of these delights. The prosciutto is the best I've had mixing salt-sweet and pepper. We are also huge fans of the pasta bolognese and the rugala y carciofi . The servers have been there forever and the restaurant runs like a well oiled machine. All without the weight of gluten if you so desire. Mangia Bene! read more

The first thing to consider is that they are lying on this app, advertising prices well below the ones shown in this subpar eatery's menu. I'd consider our waiter to be on par with a used car salesman. He offered water and bread, without informing of its appalling fee. In my opinion, mediocre bread and tap water should not be served without the waiter/waitress clearly telling the guests whether it is complimentary or will be charged for it (2 bottles of water = $24; tiny bread basket = $6). They refilled our water without asking, also offering desert. When questioned if the desert was included in the meal, the waiter simply disregarded it and went on with his presentation of overpriced pre school worthy snacks. The worst part of my experience was the disingenuous, slimy behavior of the waiters, adding 20% gratuity AND still asking for a tip, and then saying they were not able to separate checks even though they took 5 of the groups cards to boost their own personal income. If you are looking to throw away $50 on some water and an unappetizing carbonara that I could make better at my own residence, look no farther than this abomination of a "restaurant." read more

The dish that surprised me the most was the prosciutto pizza we had. I am not usually a fan of pork (and this pizza had lots of it) but the combination of arugula, prosciutto, and parmesan cheese was a lovely experience. The Salmon and potatoes was good too, but I may not get again. Overall the star of the night was the pizza so if you go I would recommend trying that! We wanted to check this place out for lunch because they have a cute outside area and the kids wanted pizzas. They had about 8-10 tables available outside but when we approached the hostess she said they're all reserved and they only had availability inside. I reconfirmed because it looked like they had more than enough tables, but she said they're all reserved. While we were trying to figure out if we want to seat inside or go somewhere else 2 older ladies came by and asked for an outdoor table, another gentleman apparently the manager sat them outside telling them they would have an hour to eat as they had 6:30 reservation for this table. We left and we definitely won't be coming back. We could have easily eaten and left in 30-45 minutes. Sorry but that kids of service pushes away potential clients. read more

My wife, a friend of ours and I ordered takeout here because there are such nice tables to sit and eat near the restaurant and it was a beautiful day. We ordered the fusilli molisani, the spaghetti della donna, and the ravioli rosa. We also asked for a side of chili flakes and received instead their wonderful homemade chili sauce. The portions were large and the dishes were superb. Just wonderful! First rate Italian food. The dishes were served with fresh bread. The service behind the counter was incredibly warm, and friendly. This place was definitely A-OK in my book. I had the pistachio salad and the eggplant antipasta as my entree. The salad was good, fresh quality lettuce but not exactly memorable. The cheese was likewise plain- it was described as pistachio crust but it was balls of cheese rolled in pistachio crumbs. Yummy but not memorable. The orange slices were a good pairing with the salad I will say. I really enjoyed my eggplant parmesan- it was northern Italian style, so not breaded. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will say there wasn't anything outstandingly unique or striking about this particular dish, but it was great comfort food and I would certainly return for something warm, yummy and familiar. Our wine a fabulous blend I'd order again- reasonable too. It was a 2014 Treana. Highly recommend it and it was perfect with rich red sauce meals. The restaurant itself has a simple, modest, unassuming decor that is not pretentious in the slightest. It's warm and friendly, a noble attempt to appear country/Tuscan. I dropped a star because the service, although incredibly friendly and warm, just wasn't quite polished. Clanging dishes when delivering plates (hitting my plate against my silverware, cups etc). I'm being picky, yes, I know. But this just isn't a fine dining experience. It's a delicious, homemade tasting, family feeling Italian restaurant. Yelp 100 Challenge 13 What a darling little Italian restaurant! The ambience is so relaxing and the inside, evening lighting warm and welcoming. The servers were quite attentive, answering our questions and very accommodating. After exploring the menu, I decided on their zucchini pasta and I'm so glad that I did. The zucchini was neither soggy or raw, simply cooked to, perfection in their arrabiata sauce. The sauce was amazing, just the right amount of spicy goodness. And the portion size was quite generous, too. My hubby ordered Frutti Di Mare which usually is accompanied with risotto, however, they were kind enough to substitute pasta for the risotto. The slightly, spicy marinara sauce was delicious and the clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp and scallops were perfectly prepared. On our way to see the Andy Warhol's exhibit at the Frederick R Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University, we decided to stop by Tra di Noi (TDN) which I haven't been there for a while. I love TDN. They use the freshest ingredients, and I am just so weak when it comes to places such as this! Truly, everything on the menu is delicious, so let's get on with what we ordered. For a party of 4, we shared the following dishes. We had the Pizza Vegetarian ($19), Tuscan Kale salad with dressing on the side ($18), Fettuccine Arago ($28) and the Pomodoro spaghetti home made ($20.50). We had ice tea and Arnold Palmer for drinks since we needed to drive responsibly to see the Andy Warhol art exhibit after. We specifically requested for NO GARLIC and NO ONIONS, and they were able to accommodate without hesitation. Without the heavy power of the garlic and onions, we were able to truly taste what the freshest food should really taste like. Every dish was cooked to perfection and absolutely DELISH!! A little olive oil with some sea salt, I am in heaven. As I have repeatedly mentioned in all of my reviews, a huge thumbs up for places where spice is a choice and not forced!! It was one of the highlights of our dinner. The pasty sauce was made from fresh olives, garlic, tomatoes, and olive oil. I'm seriously in love with this dip. 7/5 stars for the bread and dip, ya dig? When we finally decided on what to order, we got: PAPPARDELLE MARE E MONTI (fettuccine with shrimp, clam, mushrooms, scallop, spinach, garlic, olive oil): This was so yummy, tbh I could prob easily eat two servings! My family loves this place! My husband and I have been coming here for well over a decade and the food never disappoints. The service is always outstanding, and the atmosphere on the patio is lovely. Tonight, we found ourselves in Malibu and were planning to get takeout and eat in the car since we haven't been dining out during the pandemic. But when my husband went to pick up our order, he noticed that the patio was very nicely spaced out with tables 8+ feet apart. Servers were all wearing masks, plus some also had on a face shield. We felt very comfortable and safe dining here and plan to visit again soon. My fave dish is the gnocchi and my husband loves the penne alla vodka.
