I must be cursed by bad timing. No matter when I go to this location, it's packed. Weekend, weekday, morning, evening. It does share the parking lot with a KMart and a strip mall, so that adds to the traffic. Inside the store, it's always crowded as well. I agree with Jennifer W.; God help you if you pause briefly to look at something. Other customers will huff and glare. But other than the crowds, it's a great store. If you live near a Trader Joe's and you don't shop there then you don't know what you're missing. This is the way all markets should be. Great food, nice people and no messing around with markdowns and specials. They don't have them, but the prices are always competitive - especially the wine. A great formula for a market - everything is upscale product - groovy gourmet from around the world, lots of organics - and nearly everything is private labeled so you "can't" get it anywhere else (even when you can). They have great buyers and great sellers. If you want to eat a great meal at home, on picnic, camping or over at a friend's then TJs is the place to get the goods. read more

Trader Joe's has been a family favorite since we discovered it nearly 6 years ago, well that is when we moved to Ventura. Love their daily samples. I am not a coffee drinker, and I always enjoy their coffee on each visit. In fact that is the only place on the planet where I have coffee. I even allow my kids to have it. My youngest one has been enjoying coffee there since he was 5. I love how TJ works with their suppliers to bring us the best every season. All my herbs came from TJ and I have enjoyed fresh herbs throughout the season just from one pot I buy every year. All the products are easy to find, fairly priced compared to the rest of the market and the people are friendly. I love Kona, HI. TJ reminds me of Hawaii each time I am there. I have five words for you .... Wisconsin Cheese Curds found here. So last night we were in the area for some music and needed items for an impromptu picnic (thought we were going to be having dinner elsewhere) so we stopped in TJs for the food. Cheese, crackers, salsa (we already had chips in my car) and wine were on the list. We got our other items easily including cups for the wine and paper towels (as I told you, we were not ready for a picnic, so my backpack with supplies that makes every Bowl trip with me was not there to save the day) quickly and headed to check out. I have always loved shopping at Trader Joe's, and when I moved to Ventura County I was thrilled to find that this store was very close to my work. Now that they have extended their hours form 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., it is even easier to shop. The prices at TJ's are so much more reasonable than in the regular grocery store, and i love the variety of items they offer. The "crew" is always super friendly and helpful. And the samples offered daily have introduced me to a variety of products I would not normally buy (but do now!). I hear there is talk of moving this store to a different location in Ventura, and if so, I will follow them anywhere! read more

Always an enjoyable adventure, time and time again. It's fun to find new snacks and the kids really like everything I buy from here. I love that they have coffee samples for me and juice samples for the kids. The staff is ALWAYS AMAZING. Super friendly & willing to go above and beyond. Their fresh breads, pitas and baked goods do not have preservatives so they go bad after only a few days. What I have started doing is taking a few slices of bread out for the next day and put the rest in the freezer until future use. The produce is often from another country so it looks amazing in the store and 1-2 days at home but by the 3rd or 4th day it's bad. Soft or moldy. I have returned bread an produce before with no difficulties. Easy breezy. They are super laid back which makes you feel better in the end haha! read more

I come to this Trader Joes often and always find great products. I always make sure to try their samples because they always give out great cooking ideas. They have a large selection of cheeses. I went back to TJs this week for the first time since an employee nearly ran me because he thought this Black lady was stealing store items (see earlier review for the dirty details). Unlike previous times, this time a couple of employees actually greeted me. And when I put items in the bag I brought with me into the store, no employee seemed to bristle, follow or run me over to grab me before they thought I would leave the store without paying. For these reasons I am upping the store's rating to 4 stars (they deserve 3 1/2 stars but Yelp doesn't allow fraction ratings). But I'm not convinced their turnaround is permanent. Only time will tell. I'll hope for the best but I'll also report back to my fellow Yelpers if otherwise. I thank those who cared enough to read my earlier review and comment. read more

i love love love TJ's. I try my best to steer away from pesticides, preservatives, frozen foods, additives, etc. TJ's really helps me accomplish that by not only carrying these products, but also by offering them at a reasonable price. i love admiring their beautiful flower arrangements too! some of my faves are artichoke parmesean dip, five cheese dip, hummus quartet, raw trail mix individuals, brown rice bread, pumpkin butter, tofuttis, tofu, soyrizo, yves ground soy "meat", soy cheese, edamame, and soy milk. i guess thats alot of faves! :) read more

I love Trader Joe's. This is now my primary grocery shopping location. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The products are high quality and reasonably priced. I love the free samples and recipes offered daily. Their wine selection is also pretty impressive. My complaints would be few. It is SUPER crowded at certain times of the day. Obviously everyone else loves Trader Joe's too! Sometimes the lines get so backed up, you can't navigate the front of the store because of the lines. There are also some products that I use in cooking that I just can't get at Trader Joe's. I recently needed dried Lentils and had to go to Ralphs. Besides that, Trader Joe's is great! read more

TJ's Coronavirus mitigation procedures are not okay. When you first arrive, it looks good. Carts are washed. The number of people inside the store is monitored and you wait at spaced intervals to get in. Once inside, things fall apart. People are bunched up in aisles, and many people aren't wearing masks, including some of the employees whose mask were lowered. When I went to the information desk to mention the mask problem, the woman at the desk informed me that there is no law that people have to wear a mask yet. Thanks for the information, Every other store in town that I've gone into is requiring masks and has ways to deal with the bunching problem. Great selection and friendly staff. A huge selection of cheeses and a lot fresh sandwiches and stuff -- which I routinely pick up and take to work for lunch. My favorite area, however, would be the frozen stuff -- particularly the salmon and sole. Parking (close) can sometimes be a challenge, but I don't mind walking a couple extra rows. read more

Yelp reminds me to understand that "business owners are doing their best during COVID". Trust me, I get it. I have left multiple reviews for places with 4 or 5 stars when I normally would have left two or three, in hopes they'd actually read my review and work on things, while not harming their standings. I'm fed up with Trader Joe's, to say the least. I've been a long time customer and lover of TJs. I got 4 sirloin steaks for my birthday, for a total of $40. I have adored beef from trader joes for years. I cooked my steak to medium rare. I threw away about 30% of each steak because it was disgustingly chewy. Chewy at medium rare? That is not normal. I know how to cook and cut a steak. I know that supply chain issues suck right now. But you either sacrifice price or quality, NOT BOTH. This is the price I would've paid for filet from Trader Joe's, before, which I also loved. I get that prices are higher but for the first time ever, I could've gotten better meat at vons. Absolutely disappointed. I have one more pack of sirloin that I will be taking back tomorrow. I love Trader Joe's but this is disgusting and unacceptable. read more

I love many of their products but recently, my 8 yo son and I were shopping and he excitedly "found" the stuffed shark in one of the isles. We heard that you're supposed to bring the shark to a staffer and in turn receive a trinket or whatever. My son loves all animals, sea life, blahblahblah. I said let's go tell someone you found it and as we walked on, an older female employee rushed my son and barked "Can I have CLARK the shark back, please?" in a strange, intense tone that implied we intended to harm or were planning to steal it. My son beamed at her, and gladly handed it over to her - as if he thought he was playing along with her rough demeanor, knowing a treat was coming his way. Instead, she snatched it from him with a sarcastic "THANKS!" giving him a look as though she was disgusted. She began to march off when I gently said "We didn't mean anything by carrying it around - we thought it was 'a thing,' like, dont the kids return the stuffty and get a reward or....?" "No! No they don't- they are supposed to leave it where it is and tell us they spotted it, they don't "GET" anything!" And with that she turned her back on my son's fallen face and marched away. My son and I were speechless.... we walked to the manager's area where she was and placed our handheld basket (filled to brim w coveted TJ treats) down in the middle of the floor. And left. I've been going to Trader Joe's since forever. Since I went to school in Santa Barbara and there was only one Trader's on Milpas. I was always instructed to bring their almond butter back to my mom in Chicago. Trader's is absolutely my favorite grocery store. I like Whole Foods (very inspiring) and I mix in a little Winco too, but Trader's is number one. I am a baker and a cook, so I don't normally purchase much in the way of mixes or pre-made food. But I never make my own cornbread because the mix Trader's has is so awesome! For convenience sake I also like to get their individual salads. They have a huge selection, and when you have no time it's cheaper and much better than fast food. I love to get flowers, plants and cards there. Cards are only 99 cents, so I always have some on hand. It is *so* much cheaper than Von's or Ralph's or Whole Foods. Olive oil, San Marzano tomatoes from Italy, French bread, all kinds of awesomeness! Husband loves the Ultra Chocolate ice cream, I get our coffee and espresso here. Once in a blue moon I get a bad onion, or some frozen fish that's not right. Bring it back! They will refund you no problem. On March 17, 2020, amid shorter hours, lines to get in to aid in social distancing, and some shortages on the shelves, Trader Joe's staff was cheerful and welcoming. They handed each shopper a freshly cleaned cart or basket. Then when each shopper left they were offered a small bouquet of daffodils! My daffodils are beginning to bloom now and are just beautiful! One of my favourite and comforting grocery stores to shop at. Every Trader Joe's product I've tried is always a 10+. From their trail mix, there pizza dough, salads, beers & wine, pet food list goes on. Also their accommodating for anyone who is on a special diet, vegan, gluten free intolerant and lactose intolerant friendly. Another plus is they provide affordable prices then most health food stores out in thee market. The staff their are extremely helpful and attentive and quite friendly in helping you checkout quick and easy always a great experience shopping there. First I am going to post 2 reviews on this place because it deserves both. I was sooo disappointed today as I love shopping here and do at least 3 times a week. Everyone is so friendly except today Robert, R (name on receipt) I have never been treated so rude and unfriendly that I was a little taken back. Maybe he was mad at me for using the express 12 item lane and I had more than 12 items. However, it was really slow and it has never been an issue as I always bag my own stuff to expedite the process. This place is fun. Whenever I'm around Ventura (or Camarillo) I'll go to Trader Joe's to grab some Mochi Ice cream. Strawberry, Chocolate and Green Tea of course. I agree that the place can get pretty packed.. One time I went in there to get some Mochi and I was standing there trying to make a decision and I heard this lady behind be saying "Please don't pick Strawberry, please don't pick Strawberry" to herself. That was probably one of the funniest experiences I've had in a grocery store in my life. Haha. Had to share that. Anyways, most of the Trader Joe's are pretty consistent. I went to one in San Fransisco and it was like I was back here. People are friendly and make great conversation and of course walking in and trying their samples are fun. My God father had a sample of Vegan "Buffalo Wings" and he didn't even realize they were meatless. Anyway its a fun place. I love looking around and seeing what they have and of course the Organics are great. Easy way to find Organic food is to go straight to Trader Joe's. read more

Almost everything is wonderful. However I think the high priced raw meats have relabeled outdate stickers. When you open packages the smell of decay is palpable and obvious it's not fresh but relabeled as fresh. read more

After going through a run down, ghetto to get to it, I was in Trader Joe heaven when I finally found it. It's in the shabby part of the shopping complex, quite a stalk difference from the very nice and large shopping complex across the street with Longs, LA Fitness, Countrywide, Ralph's, etc. This lot had a Chinese restaurant, liquor store Anyhow, the store is very large as many other TJ's and had all the good stuff I love finding in the TJ's stores. They have a quite large wine selection (about 1/4~1/3 of the store), fresh veggies, fruits, flowers as well as all the great easy dinner stuff in the refrigerated section as well as a nice size frozen section. I got the Tandoori Na-an Bread that I love, some frozen vegetable fried rice (it's the best when you need to come up with a dinner in a hurry), frozen whole green beans, fresh pot of basil plant, Two Buck Chuck wine (gotta love it!), pre-cooked brown rice (great to take for lunch), nice cheese, ripe avocados and kiwi. I just can't go into TJ's and not buy much! Of course, the had their ever happy employees all around. Thank God this is close to my new house! I had to find it as soon as I moved here :-D The only question I have is that if they actually look at on line job applications/resumes...I tried and tried to get in but I didn't even get a call...sad...I do have a lot of experience in customer service and retail that I thought at least I'd get one interview but oh well, maybe the next time. I love Trader Joe's, but this one is not so great. There's always lines, one of their employees is seriously hard of hearing, many of the employees have been down right rude to me, the parking situation is a pain in the butt(and going to get a whole lot worse when Wal-Mart opens,) and one of their cashiers is unreasonably slow (i've noticed him a lot working the express check-out. Thus defeating the purpose of the express check-out.) The new Trader Joe's on mills is much, much better. read more

The best market in Ventura! Their prices are incredible, the selection is wonderful (things I couldn't possibly find in my local grocery) and it's just FUN to be in there. I don't have to worry about MSG or high fructose corn syrup in my food, because SO FAR I've never found any products with those ingredients in TJs. Went shopping for a few items at Trader Joe's after work. The gentleman in front of me had filled the basket and that cost him almost $140. It look like he was shopping for the month. I waited patiently and then when getting to the cashier she simply rang up and watch me back my own stuff and handed me my change. i always go to TJ i get food to last my husband and I a month and all we spend is about $100 i mean come on thats a BARGAIN!
