I had written a review but I had posted on the wrong location! I did not realize they had 3 restaurants, now I have read other people reviews I have to go back to have fried chicken someone had said it was INSANELY GOOD! LOL! I had fried chicken may be 3 times in my life due to health concern but nowadays, I'm addicted to fried chicken in VN restaurants not the fake ones covered in CARDBOARD in all the fast food restos. So here it is my review from 2 weeks ago. My sister had a big bash last Sunday at Tram Chim fresh crab restaurant. It was a great venue for parties, it had a stage, nice lighting, big screen like in a theater for slide shows. We had about 30 people, 3 tables. It was not my 1st choice when she called to consult with me, as stated in my previous review, my #1 favorite cuisine is Chinese food AKA Cantonese, not from Fukien, Schezuan, Shanghai, Beijing or worse yet Yunnan but it's her party and it's important for her to have a big stage as she loves to dance and karaoke too, unlike her I cannot dance, skate, ski, roller blade or karaoke, LOL! If it were my party, my #1 concern would be good food with an average stage. She fell down the metro stairs in Paris and has mobility issues but still loves to dance, a real party girl! She is waiting to read my review and expect a 4 or 5 stars review but I promised everybody that my reviews can be taken to the bank, she might slap me down! Just kidding, her next big bash is her husband birthday in December. Ok so let's get to the PROS 1ST THEN THE CONS! PROS: 1) Beautiful interior decoration, nice party setting, big mini Imac theater sound system good for dancing. 2) Ample parking, it's very important as if it were Seafood Cove, good luck, you can circle 5x before finding a parking. 3) Wonderful customer service. 4) Reasonable pricing vs all the cutthroat pricing everywhere else. CONS: I'm a galloping gourmet aka fussy eater so my idea of a party would have to start w good food, authentic Chinese, Tram Chim is a Chinese inspired cuisine essentially an elevated Vietnamese cuisine. 1) The appetizers were good. 2) The lobster was huge but I could not eat much as it was chewy, honestly to be fair, it's just more or less chewy in every restaurant bc they are literally not fresh off the ocean. I went to Alaska twice and the lobster was succulent and tender. I went to a cruise from NYC to Quebec, dining on fresh lobster at every port, all lobsters were tender. It was too dry here, not enough sauce and the noodle was not quite cooked! 3) The crab was huge too, same problem, not enough sauce, it was quite bland so I did not eat much. 4) The soup was too sweet, the fried pineapple rice was OK 5) Fresh fruits rambutan were appreciated by everybody. I brought a tiramisu cake, 2 others friends brought mango cakes, I did not eat much bc I'm fussy! LOL I cannot eat cake with OJ or water! My sister doesn't drink anything except hot water. I took 3 slices of cakes home and made myself an Italian expresso. I was hoping for a sweet and sour fish or fish in ginger, it was only 8 courses so there was no fish. Their preset menu does not have the usual menu like in every Chinese restaurant. I can only rate this restaurant 3 stars bc of many reasons stated above but 1 thing that should be mentoned is it lacked the flambe flavor typical of wok cooking with a big flame licking the food, It can be 4 stars if you consider customer service and nice venue as not every restaurant has a nice stage but I sure did not get fat! reviews should be based on food, everything else is secondary, if you want a party and an elegant setting and ambiance, this is your restaurant. Most Chinese restaurants are extremely noisy lately, people were so loud, I felt deaf in 1 ear after dinner and Seafood Cove was the worst offender, lousy service and it was very stressful, I can't get over why anybody would want to wait 1 hour just to get a table. Last year my sister spent $1,000 for a magician to entertain the guests, this year she had ELVIS PRESLEY IMPERSONATOR! She sure knows how to throw a party.

Food: 4/5 Fresh seafood, grilled, steam, you know it. Always ask for some fresh chilies. Escargot was great, blood calms had some specs of sang but very tasty! Razor clams were my personal favorite. Also the frog legs; fried, crispy, flavor was great. Service: 3/5 Was ok, restaurant wasn't packed but you'll definitely need to call for the server for any additional help. Sometimes you might need to remind them 2 or 3 times for certain requests. Ambiance: 3/5 love seeing all the aquatic tanks that inincludes crabs, lobster, king crabs. Restaurants can definitely handle a nice wipe down of the tanks maybe a clean up. But overall, setting was ok. Enjoyed the open space and multiple large tables. This spot is sset up for group events, so if you have a large party might be a great option for seafood lovers.

We came here for our friends birthday luncheon celebration. Saturday brunch @ 11 am when they opened. Service, associate was really friendly and fast. We received our meals in a timely manner. Food was superb and delicious. My fav was the ~ Squid seemed fried and delicious seasoned w lightly batter and honey fish sauce taste. Highly recommended. ~ Sweet & Spicy wings were good appetizers too. Tender and juicy. ~ Lobster with the garlic flavored noodles were yum. Lobster was cooked to perfection house special style. They give you a complimentary Che dessert at the end of your meal. They have live crabs, lobsters seafood in the fish tanks. A lot of them available fresh. It's is own standing restaurant. Outdoor doesn't look too appealing. Building is much older and needing some TLC on yje landscape. Had a lot of overgrown bushes, trees and are dead. So it did look like the restaurant was no longer in business from the street view. Once pull into the parking lot. The restaurant was open. Lots of outdoor seatings on their patio deck Restaurant is pretty big w lots of seatings inside the restaurant itself. Lots of parking available. In a busy shopping center. Tip Yelp Ck in. Free passion fruit tea. With 5 Yelp Ck In. Can get a pitcher for free that'll serve your entire party.

Tram Chim is the biggest restaurant near my house -- basically a seafood kingdom. I've tried tons of dishes here, and most of them are really good. Some plates are a bit on the sweet side, though. the best part? You can walk in anytime -- no waiting like other places. Great spot for birthdays or big gatherings, just don't expect a stage for singing. It's all about the food here! Service: good. Prices: very reasonable -- solid 8/10 from me. If they added more bones to the hotpot broth, it would be way better. Right now it tastes like they rely more on seasoning powder than real bone broth. But the salad? Delicious. The baby cuttlefish? SUPER good!!

I'm not sure if this place changed owners or restructured their management team or strategy, but it's completely different from what we experienced before. We tried their special grilled chicken for the first time, and it was insanely good--I'm honestly addicted to the flavor now. The sticky rice is also excellent and pairs perfectly with the chicken. You have to order this chicken whenever you visit because it will blow your mind. The seafood is fairly average, similar to most other seafood restaurants. The staff were much more attentive this time compared to our previous visit, cleaning up before we even asked and checking in to see if we needed anything else. This experience completely changed how my family feels about this restaurant, and I can now confidently recommend it.

Met up with my mom's friend after not visiting LA in a couple of years. We ordered a bunch of stuff the first round and even added more items the second round. This place is perfect with large groups of people to drink & talk. The food was okay, a bit on the oily side.

The food is amazing. Definately a great place to come to. Will come back here again. Waitress was so kind. Spend 100 and get free Lobster.

This place has some insanely large lobsters and crabs. I think my cholestroll went all the way to LDL. But it was soooo tasty. The deep fried lobster and crabs were delicious. The fruits and desserts served were fresh, no issue at all. I was invited to this, and I have no idea how much the bill was at all. Parking was fine but if the restaurant gets fully packed, then it could be a problem. Overall, it was a great experience. 4.5 out of 5!

Tram Chim used to be one of the hot spots to get Vietnamese style seafood and the go to spot but quality went down hill since they opened multiple locations. I remember there was always a wait at the original location on Bolsa when every dish came out was good. With the new locations being opened and the extensive menu, not every dish is good anymore. Really a hit or miss but this last time I went the small squid and fried rice were good, the other dishes were mediocre.

Great service and the food came out quickly. Live lobster, king crab and stone crab options.

Tram Chim used to the spot for Vietnamese seafood! This was our first time visiting this location. We went during lunch time for Father's Day and there was no wait at all, only two other parties in the restaurant. The food was at best average, nothing special that stood out. The service here was not great at all. Though there were only two other parties in the store, the girl serving us often ignored our table and had an attitude when my mom asked questions about the dishes. She even rolled her eyes multiple times at us. Ruined our experience here and we could not wait to get our food and leave!

I've been to the first Tram Chim location a couple of times and wanted to try their newer location. They're located in their own building on Beach Blvd. There are indoor and outdoor seatings available. We went a little before 5PM so it wasn't as busy yet. We ordered the dinner combo for 4 and it was the perfect amount of food for about $150 (before add-ons). Highly recommend the lobster garlic noodles. The sauce they use in the noodles is SO DELICIOUS. Normally it comes with 3lb of lobster, but we paid extra $30 for one more pound of lobster. The food came out really fast within 5 min of ordering, which makes me think they already had food prepared since it's a popular combo...so I don't really think ours was 4lbs even though we paid for it... I suggest ordering extra noodles because it doesn't come with much (and skip on ordering extra pounds of lobsters). The salted fish fried rice was also another favorite dish that we order every time we visit Tram Chim. It had that nice wok fried rice flavor but still not getting any of that actual salted fish in the rice LOL. Our combo came with gigantic red prawns in a coconut and lime dipping sauce. It also came with beef salad and seafood soup. Soup was okay but lacked some flavor. Customer service was excellent! Our waitress check on us a few times to see if we needed anything. She and the other waiters were also constantly replacing new bowls to dispose our seafood shells too. After we finished our dinner, they gave us a complimentary box of fruits! Overall, everything we ordered was delicious. I like this location a lot more than the first one on Bolsa street. Remember to check in because you might get a free passion fruit drink! I will be back!

Pros - Their French fries are identical to KFC but fried perfectly. Their napkins are the highest grade I have ever seen . It's similar to table cloth which is worth noting. Value -- 4/5 14$ meal as You do get a lot of fries. The fish is a tad bit thin. Mainly getting more batter than fish ratio. Not sure if they have malt vinegar as I didn't see any around. Service was good and there's a decent amount of seating inside with cute little marine themed decor. Lobster roll combo with the soup ($32) - I got the Maine style (cold) lobster roll which had really good flavor and the amount of lobster was really nice. I wish they pushed the lobster down into the roll a little more instead of stacking it on top to make it look fuller because it made it a lot harder to eat. The side salad was okay. I liked the clam chowder a lot. Fries and tater tots were perfectly crispy! Flaming hot lobster fries ($25): This feels a bit overpriced for what it is and kind of lackluster. Fries were good and crispy but the cheese wasn't melted well. Lobster is thrown on there and I think it would be better with cheeto dust versus the random cheetos thrown on top. Fish tacos ($15): You get three tacos which is decent pricing. The fish was crispy and flavor is basic but good. All in all, a good spot to get your lobster roll fix without having to drive too far!

I wasn't able to eat too quickly because of that and my noodles were pretty soggy. They give you a LOT of noodles so two people could definitely share a Hot Stone Pot. The meat is very good but the only redeeming quality about the Pho because the soup was super bland and watery. The Cajun seafood platter was way overcooked so all the seafood inside was mushy AND bland. Service was really quick and the staff there was quick to help. I basically break down pho to 3 components: Noodles, broth and veggies. 1) The staff member here asked me if I wanted flat or regular noodles which seems obvious to some - but a lot of people don't know pho can come in an optional noodle shape! And I actually like the flat noodle better! 2) Broth. This stone pot special comes out PIPING HOT. You know the feeling when your noodles and meat come out separately and you ask yourself, is this going to cook before my broth is cold? No worries here. My steaming hot pho was hot hot hot till the last bite. And the broth itself had a really clean flavor profile. Pretty refreshing and different from what I've had! Had a really beefy umami flavor that was accompanied by the welcome temperature consistency. 3) Veggies. They keep it simple here with the selection, but again, the service was awesome. He asked if he could refill the veggies for us and the limes here are on point! Surprisingly hard to find juicy limes with the flavor to set you off on your pho adventure. The veggies were fresh and it's a nice touch to cook the sprouts so you don't end up with undercooked sprouts which tend to be bitter at times. Really chill spot. Nice calm EDM. Good meal to warm you up! And nice wide parking lot.

Along with that, our table also ordered: the quail with sticky rice ($20.99), salted fish and shrimp fried rice ($24.99), shaken beef with garlic noodles ($22.99), bok choy with sautéed garlic ($12.99), a hot tea ($4.00), Coca-Cola ($5.50), a mojito ($15.00), and a margarita ($15.00). With tax ($17.71), our ticket was $209.16 before gratuity. The NOLA Grilled Oysters come sizzling on a hot griddle, with four different fillings, four pieces each, for a total of 16 oysters. The price might seem a bit indulgent, but not if you consider the effort and ingredients that go into this presentation. Each type was flavorful, and there wasn't a single one I didn't enjoy. The salted fish fried rice was an interesting experience. I enjoyed the dish, though the salted fish was less salty than I expected. Someone in our group, who usually doesn't like salted fish fried rice because they find it too salty, actually liked this version for its milder flavor. The plate also includes four large shrimp. The shaken beef was tasty and tender; the garlic noodles were al dente and had just enough garlic--not excessive. The sautéed garlic added a smoky, nutty taste to the bok choy. The quail was marinated well and tasted good--but I wonder if it was fried just a bit too long. After this meal, I chatted with a friend who lives in the community. He'd been to this spot before but dismissed it as just another seafood boil joint. After our conversation, though, he said he'd be willing to give it another shot. I guess your impression of this restaurant depends, at least in part, on what you order. The service, by the way, was excellent. Have been to this restaurant many times, and food is always consistent! Came visit to the restaurant last week, and ordered my favorite Grilled Escargot with Garlic Butter and Peppercorn, Grilled Scallops with Cheese, and my all-time favorite Chilean Sea Bass hot pot! The grilled escargots are a must-have when visiting this place! These are perfectly grilled with rich garlic butter for sweetness, and with a slight kick of spiciness from the peppercorn. Don't forget to also dip the escargot meat with black pepper and a few squeeze of fresh lime juice! If you like melted cheese, then the grilled scallops with cheese would be the perfect match. Each scallop is covered melted cheese and comes sizzling on a hot plate when ordered! Last but certainly not least, my favorite dish of this restaurant is the Chilean Sea Bass hot pot. The order comes with your own tabletop gas stove, along with a hot pot filled with a tom yum like sour soup base. For ingredients, it also includes a plate with slices of pineapple, quarter cut fresh tomato slices, fresh bean sprouts, rice noodles, and a full plate of large pieces of Chilean Sea Bass. Just put all the ingredients in the hot pot and let it cook for 5-10mins on high, I promise you it is one of the best soups you will ever have! Service is good as always. This place always seems to be busy, so you may have to be on the waitlist during certain business hours (eg holidays, prime dinner time, etc). Parking wise, the restaurant is located in a busy plaza, and so you may have to drive around a few times before finding an open spot. However as I said earlier, it's worth the wait.
