Shared a butter lettuce salad with avocado, a pizza with grapes, goat cheese and arugula and the potato gnocchi. Simply delicious. The short rib ragu was so flavorful and the dumplings light. The pizza crust was so full of flavor and the toppings properly displayed. Would recommend Tratto whether the weather cooperated or not! read more

Two unique interpretations of classic Italian dishes. Bruschetta was as messy as bruschetta should be, but held together with ricotta, which meant less spilled with each bite. An interesting take! Pappardelle was delivered in a creamy tomato sauce, which was tastefully sweet, and accompanied the homemade pasta very well. This type of restaurant is a little fancier than what I normally eat at, but I had family in town and they wanted to try it, and I'm glad they did! We went for dinner on a Friday around 6 and it wasn't too busy, we were seated right away, and the service overall was great. I had the spinach tagliatelle which was AMAZING! The noodles were fresh and beautiful, and the meat/sauce was flavorful and savory. Highly recommend. I also tried a slice of the mushroom pizza (but picked off the mushrooms lol) and the sauce was super flavorful and the crust was great. The ambiance is amazing. I enjoyed the uptempo but subtle music; no lyrics, just beats. The tiled floors were eye catching. I felt like I time warped into another era. Food was fantastic. Appetizer was scrumptious. We shared the Fritto misto. It was a mixture of different deep fried items: calamari, seasonal vegetables, & lemon. First time I had a deep fried battered lemon. Very tasty, when you dip it into the Calabrian aioli sauce. I had the minestrone soup. It was great for the cold day in San Francisco. Backed up with a wedge salad that was crisp and delicious. For main course, I had the buttery half chicken with arugula and roasted red potatoes. That chicken is to die for. It was really savory with the red potatoes and arugula for balance. My Brother let me taste the skirt steak and polenta that he had. The steak was medium rare with the red wine sauce. That paired up very well with the fried polenta. First time I had tasted a fried polenta. That was an experience within itself. I asked my Brother, "Are you eating tofu?" He replied, "Try it". I tasted both of them together. The red wine sauce made them melt together. We were both happy with our choices. The service was amazing. Seated fast and given menus. The waiter was very knowledgeable of the details in the dishes. He helped us pick out items. I noticed the Bartender was very hospitable to the guest @ the bar. The host was very polite to me and my Brother. When going to a nice restaurant, it is the staff that makes a big difference for me. They were all working together as a team. This is very rare to see these days. I will be back, because they made the cold foggy San Francisco Sunday feel like sunny Sunday. I left the restaurant feeling like a millionaire. This place is a gem. I'm still blown away by the experience. I almost forgot to talk about going to the bathroom. Going to the bathroom, you go through the hotel. The lobby was breath taking. They had a well decorated lounge area with a fire place & crystal chandeliers. I noticed people in big plush chairs warming by the fire. Looked nice. When I exited the bathroom, I saw the other room that looked like a mansion library out of the Great Gatsby. I felt like I was in that era. This place has great detail for a hotel in San Francisco. Way too overpriced for being a Hotel Restaurant. The whole place just felt....stern and heartless. The only vegan option that they really sort of had was a salad... and it did not look appetizing for being over $15-20. Even the customers seemed extremely depressed or annoyed with life. I had a quick phone call and got yelled at because I didn't have headphones.... The bartender was extremely sweet though, and I left him with a very good tip, but I don't think I'll be returning because $30 for a double shot of tequila (I wasn't even familiar with) wasn't worth it. The area is starting to fill up with tweakers as well. Just not a good spot for overpriced food and drinks. read more

My husband and I ordered the fritto mixto for an appetizer, the potato gnoochi and spinach tagliatelle for entrees. Both pasta dishes were scrumptious. Drool. So much flavor in every bite. I wanted more after we finished. So rich and tasty. For the appetizer, my only complaint was there was too much going on. Like there was more than deep fried calamari. I bite into a deep fried lemon. I came here one evening for dinner with a colleague during a conference. I was pleased to get a reservation on a super busy evening. Here's the long and short of the experience: -My colleague and I were definitely pleased with the Italian soda. I had mine with tequila and his was with vodka. Honestly, this stuff is extra sippable and it's easy to blow right through them! -I enjoyed the pappardelle, which had a nice meat sauce. Not mind blowing, but good. -My appetizer salad was kind of ehh. The arugula tasted unusually sharp and I was overall underwhelmed. -Our server was fine, although there were periods when he would be away from our section for extended periods of time. Vibey Italian restaurant with some unique pastas and pizzas; we ordered the fritto misto and bruschetta for appetizers. Will say the bruschetta is somewhat small and a bit underwhelming, but the fritto misto was as expected and a great sharing plate. For entrees, we ordered the tagliatelle and the gnocchi w/asparagus pesto. Both were delicious! For those hesitant about the gnocchi, the asparagus taste is very subtle and adds a perfect amount of flavor to the dish without being too noticeable. Tratto I wanted to love you so much. The best thing about this place is the ambiance... the food on the other hand is very hit or miss. We started the meal with the Focaccia bread and the kale caesar both were good; however, I did not like that they put actual anchovies on the top of the salad. For our main course my husband had the gnocchi and stated that the dish was lackluster (gnocchi's were very hard and the sauce was way to rich) I had the pappardelle and the dish was great! So much flavor. For dessert my husband had the donut which were delicious! I had the olive oil cake and it was really dry and very underwhelming unfortunately. The service was pretty slow overall; I wanted a glass of wine to go with my dinner and asked the server to see the wine menu and by the time she returned to take my order I was already done with my dish. As an apology for the wait time the server offered to buy us dessert which was nice; however, I just wanted such a better experience based on the current ratings on yelp. We came here between parts one and two of the Harry Potter play. Reservations were recommended but we sat at the community table and was able to be seated right away. The roast beef gnocchi. Yum. It was like comfort food for the soul. Gnocchi covered with the most tender roast. Making my mouth water as I'm writing this. We ordered one of the pizza, sorry I can't remember which one, but it had grapes on it. Sounded strange but surprisingly complimented the rest of the toppings. This place got crowded very quickly being so close to the theater so I would recommend either getting a reservation OR sitting at the community table. Their Saturday lunch menu online didn't match the menu in the restaurant on Saturday. So how the other reviewer got truffle fries for appetizer was pretty lucky then? The server said their lunch menu is more simple than the dinner one. I wanted the truffle pizza, but it wasn't on the menu. I made reservations using Open Table which I probably didn't need to because the restaurant was pretty empty with maybe 4 groups of people eating scattered in the main dining area and I was by the window area. I had put in the comments that I had a show to go to at 3pm. My friend arrived to restaurant around 1:15pm. As we were talking, no server approached us and then we tried to flag someone down to get our orders. Luckily I was here with my friend and we had a lot to talk about or else this would be a very boring and long wait . Finally food came and it was a nice presentation and good big portions. We order the green spinach pasta and I enjoyed it. I had to agree with my friend that the noodles probably needed a minute more to be more el dente. For me that was a minor issue. After we finished eating we talked more and kept eye on time. Eventually a server came and we had like 40 minutes left before the show started at 3pm. So we ordered the donuts and prayed it would come in time! Finally it came and we asked for the bill ASAP. We paid for bill and rushed out to go to our show. I normally don't like to cut it so close to time like that. I barely made it to restroom at theater because show was about to start! Overall the venue is nice, clean and well lighted for lunch. The food is good. But service is slow as a snail during lunch. If you have no plans and nothing to do for the rest of the day, then this place is perfect for you! The ambiance was casual and cute, but what really drew us in was the $14 bottomless mimosas. I honestly feel like $14 is a steal and the orange juice they used was freshly squeeze which made all the difference. I also had the Smoked Salmon plate which was beautifully presented on a wooden board. The portion size of the salmon was very generous and everything was super tasty. Came here for San Francisco Restaurant Week during lunch. It's probably one of the most reasonably-priced in the list. For only $15.15, you get 1 entree and 1 dessert. Their regular menu are priced around $15 so it's like you're getting free dessert. We skipped the grilled chicken salad. Pepperoni pizza thin crust) came out first and it's good but not mind-blowing. Cappelletti was next and I was disappointed with how tiny the portion is. Fortunately we ordered 3 sets even tho there's only 2 of us. The pork belly panini was pretty good but a little weird since it's sweet due to the onion jam and it came with a big pile of aragula dressed in vinaigrette. As much as we didn't wish to be those people they promptly sat us as we were there for coffee and dessert only. Loved my dinner here. I got the gnocchi and the salami pizza. The gnocchi was really interesting and tasted more Eastern European than Italian but it was super good. The meat was smooth and savory. The gnocchi noodles were delicious. The pizza was super tasty. My favorite dish of the two for sure. The crust was so yummy. The crust on the bottom is thin and perfect Italian flavor. The salami was good as well a the peppers on top. We also got the Italian fries as an appetizer it was good but nothing super special. Service was not incredible. I'm not sure it'll earn any Michelin stars, but it's certainly a top notch restaurant for the value. IIRC, the baby octopus was excellent. I would've entertained a second order if we didn't already have a bunch of food coming. The wild arugula salad was also very pleasant. It's not what you expect, but in a good way. The meatballs were just a tad dry, but very flavorful. The chicken thighs were awesome. I could be happy with a bucket of those. I think any of the pizzas would make anyone content. The lemon linguine chicken cacciatore was a table favorite. If you get there right when the open on a popular night, they'll do a good job pushing the food out, but it does fill quickly. You can go for a whole entree, or you can pick a bunch of smaller dishes like we did for our party of 4 for more variety (which I'd highly recommend). read more

The service was excellent with very attentive, friendly servers. The atmosphere was on the loud side, but did not impair our ability to communicate or lessen an enjoyable dinner. Hubby had a conference in nearby Hilton so my friend and I, with our tow of toddlers, came here for dinner while waiting for him. We weren't sure if this would be a childfriendly restaurant since the atmosphere looked more grown-up with a big bar and no other kids in sight. Surprisingly they were and the servers were very accommodating, helping me with my stroller, settling the kids into highchairs with crayons and a kids menu. Best of all, the food tasted really good and the kids and adults ate every bite with no complaint. Great value too. We had: Calamari - Nice crisp and one of the better ones I've had, they even include deepfried veggies and deepfried lemon which was interesting! I had the Cod and the fish was perfectly cooked and the broth/sauce it came in had great hearty flavors.
