Outstanding food and service! We won't drive past this place again without stopping in. The best kept secret in North Georgia! Loved it!

After researching many of the dining options in the Dahlonega area, we ultimately decided on White Oak Bistro. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with rolling pastures, classic fencing, and horses grazing nearby. From the restaurant, you can enjoy distant, long-range mountain views, creating a splendid and picturesque setting. Upon arriving at the bistro, we were warmly welcomed and promptly seated by the windows with a lovely view. The dining room features a refined fine-dining atmosphere, with soft music gently playing in the background. For dinner, we chose the gouda fritters, roasted salmon, and colossal shrimp, followed by tiramisu for dessert. Everything was delicious--especially the fritters and the shrimp entrée. The bread was perfectly baked and fresh, and it paired wonderfully with the flavorful shrimp broth. We truly enjoyed the entire experience and highly recommend White Oak Bistro for anyone planning a relaxing mountain getaway.

Do yourself a favor and have dinner here. We had a table next to the panoramic deck view. It was a very nice experience and we'll be back. :)

The trout…read moresandwich with fries was a standout, and the fried green tomato appetizer paired nicely with the gastrique, greens, and spicy pimento cheese. The burger and tater tots were also very good. The menu offers a wide variety of specialty burgers with plenty of customization options, including grass-fed beef for a small upcharge. Fair prices for the quality and quantity of food--definitely left in a food coma. Service: Service was efficient and the food came out well-prepared. No major issues during the visit. Atmosphere: Located in downtown Dahlonega, making it easy to explore nearby shops and dessert spots before or after your meal. The tavern has a darker, eclectic vibe with artwork, punk music, and a slightly edgy feel. The décor fits the restaurant's origins and personality, though the lighting--including in the restrooms--is quite dim. Parking downtown can be somewhat difficult during busy times.

I asked for some Tabasco sauce to help make the sandwich more palatable to eat, instead of being brought a bottle like most restaurants would give you they gave me a condiment cup full of Tabasco sauce, too much for anyone to use. When the bill came for an extra 50 Cent charge for it, I didn't fight it because it was 50 Cent and I just wanted to leave, but it was frustrating. I've never been charged for condiments / hot sauce at a restaurant I'm giving two stars because the server was nice and patient while we figured out what my little one needed to order she had to come back to the table a couple times, but they should have mentioned the surcharge for the hot sauce at the time that I requested it. Would I come back here again for a meal, no. Would I consider coming back to try a cocktail, maybe, only because overheard the bartender speaking to some patrons quite passionately about the flavors which they put together so I would give this part. Another chance even though the kitchen has lost my confidence,

We had our 12 lb bundle of puppy joy with us so to the back deck we went. I think Dakotah was the only server on the main floor, both inside and out because it took a long time. Long time for water. He was busy even though the restaurant wasn't full. Poor guy. My hubby ordered the muffaletta and wasn't impressed. He ate it though. He loved his Abita root beer. I decided to order from the side menu and I'm so happy I did. The andouille sausage was grilled and tasty. The maque choux was amazing. Think Mexican corn with a Louisiana twist. Perfection!! The loaded grits were also wonderful- chocked full of gouda, bacon, and green onions. Delicious! The gumbo was thick like a stew. The flavor was smoky and sublime. My only beef is instead of all gumbo, the cup was filled mostly with rice... topped with gumbo. Overall we enjoyed our dinner. However, due to the pace of things, the underwhelming sandwich and perception of getting shorted on the chicken and gumbo. I wouldn't hesitate to swing by and order a maque choux to go as a snack except they charge $1 for the to-go container.
