I was nothing but impressed with this place. I went here with my two kids and my two elderly parents. The menu was diverse enough that there was something for everyone. The food ranged from very good to excellent. I particularly recommend the bacon-wrapped shrimp and the etouffee. The portions were surprisingly large and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. The place an everything in it was spotlessly clean, including the bathrooms. If I had use one word to praise this place, that word would be "efficiency." The staff here is constantly moving, and we were in and out in 40 minutes. On a Saturday... During peak dinner service... It is obvious that this place is well-managed and that the employees bust their backsides to keep it running smoothly. I really enjoyed my lunch here. We started with the fried pork rinds which were served with some sort of bbq sauce with a little kick to it. It was a good choice for an appetizer. For my entree, I chose the fried shrimp po'boy. The shrimp had a light batter and a very fresh taste. The bread was fluffy and served with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and red onion with a remoulade spread. Very tasty! I also substituted the French fries for fried okra. Tricky Fish's take on okra was very unique and unlike anything I've seen before. Points for creativity and taste. Until my most recent visit, I had only enjoyed appetizers. Honestly, the appetizers are meal worthy. If you are looking at appetizers, you cannot go wrong with the calamari. It's also got fried peppers in it, and it's mostly rings, which I would say most probably prefer. It's thick, but not heavy. Filling, but light. The cocktail menu is wonderful. Truly. Complex cocktails with a fair price point. I may have had nearly all of them at some point, and I have never been disappointed. In this instance I tried a couple of things. First, the Mac and Cheese with Grilled Shrimp. The mac and cheese looked to be a small portion, but was quite satisfying. Let me say - it is not the baked, read crumb Mac and Cheese you might expect. It's a very straightforward Mac, light (not sharp) cheese, with the grilled shrimp. The shrimp really stole the show - it was cooker just right, and even a bit crisp around the edges. I don't generally eat fried food (or dairy, for that matter) but something about those fries had me contemplating my food decisions - I almost got the Fish and Chips. Next time! Well, darn it, they recently condensed the menu here, and my favorite item got cut. It was just a sandwich, (The Pig 'n Poultry) but I guess it had to go. Very disappointed about that. The gumbo I had on this visit was good, as it normally is. The grilled okra is one of my favorite side dishes in town. But my fish sandwich was just okay, unfortunately. It's a hit! We were at a nearby medical center and the positive reviews on Yelp caught our attention and persuaded us to give it a try for lunch. First, we were seated immediately instead of having to find a spot. They weren't crowded, but still a little service helps. Our server was at our table to take drink orders, answer questions and offer advice since this was our first visit. He came back to refill my drink even before we had placed our order. The prices were not at all out of line for the food and service. There was adequate levels of both. My wife hat the Tricky Fish tilapia and I had the fried fish & shrimp platter bLackened. I know... Apparently it's the fried platter because everything is supposed to be fried - with fries - but the fish/seafood can be ordered blackened or grilled; which is a great option. The fish and shrimp on both offerings were flavorful and cooked perfectly. The okra, which is sliced longwise and flash fried (according to our helpful server) was excellent. This is an update regarding our last three visits. Our service has been awful and each visit keep getting worse. Two of the times were were sat at dirty tables and another time when we asked for a booth the host said she was too busy to clean it. We were the only party of two waiting. After being seat it seems like forever before a drink order is placed. Let's go back to the first of three visits I'm and discussing. My husband and I were boasting at how fantastic this place was to both our son and his girlfriend. They both work in the restaurant industry and are most lenient when it comes to lacking service. Today was beyond frustrating. It took forever to get a drink order and even longer to receive the drinks or have our order taken. No biggy, we are sitting there enjoying nice conversation. One hour passes and still not food. Did she forget to put our ticket in? After our drinking being empty for over 30 mins and having not one person come check on us, both my son and his girlfriend laugh. Like what is going on, did they leave, do we not have anyone serving us? When the order is arrive it was a disaster. My sons girlfriend ordered a type of slaw that was supposed to have avocado dressing on the slaw. She specified this many times and again when the food arrived. She was ensured it was the regular coleslaw and took a bit of it. Instantly she started having a reaction and my husband got up to get someone to double check. Oops so sorry they say, it's the wrong one. So three employees come over and one offers her Claritin. She accepted but didn't want her food replaced. We tried to make it through the rest of our meal and after noticing my fries were extremely season when I asked for no seasonings I was mad. We waited another 20 mins for the server to bring a check. Nothing was taken off the bill. They offered to remake our food. Ok so after we have already been there for nearly 1.5 hours, was given something that can make someone go into anaphylactic shock and having my fries cold and season even though asked not to you want us to pay for food we didn't eat and complained about? None of these are our issues, it's theirs. The next visit we had pretty much a similar experience with the service. Although I don't feel like it was the servers issue. Drinks empty, prolonged wait time to get an order placed and then poof they disappeared. We kept looking for our server or anyone for that matter for more sauces and refills. I always order extra sauce while I place my order to make it easier on the server and it leaves me not having to wait and get frustrated because me food is getting cold. We decided to give it one last try two nights ago. I absolutely love their fried shrimp and Mac n Cheese. But gosh darn it here we go again! Our server seemed to be helping the entire restaurant. She was literally on the other side of the bar serving people and we were by the drink station. This time I was angry. Not even laughing. So my husband got up and helped himself to the drink station. She saw us, she didn't come over and ask if anything was needed. I have swallowing issues. It's a form of dysphasia and I need drinks after each bite. Now I know what your thinking, but I only go through two beverages if that. No managers walking the floor, nothing. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt because everyone still seems to be so understaffed. But don't seat guests you can't tend to. Tell them we are understaffed and you will have to wait, or warn them and let the customer decide. It is haven't been for the fish plates that are gluten free, and both of my boys having celiac...we wouldn't have given them so many chances. The last visit set me over the top. Talk to a manager you say? It took our server 17 mins to bring us our check, she forgot the first responder discount which was asked if her twice and the kept us there longer. And by the third attempt to have us pay we were just done. One the way out I stood waiting for a host to ask for a manager and not one person acknowledged us. We just left. This place needs to get it together. I mean the food could be amazing. And I've seen great customer service before. We do not go during peak hours. I just don't get it. Managers, walk your floors and see what's going on. Or do you know and that is why you remain hidden? Managers you are not too good to help the servers out to make sure orders are correct, food is prepared properly, drinks are full and your customers stay happy. EPIC FAIL x 3 read more

First time was amazing and the second time was ok .. but third time was a totally disaster I took my friend there for her birthday and we had ordered drinks first also chip and queso and it was cold we sent it back and they bought it back out cold again .. so we just kept it and ordered food since they couldn't get it right .. Our first ever visit there was last Friday. Our fiends said oh you have to try this place. Well, we were not as impressed as they were. It was very loud in there, 4 of us at the table, drinks were delivered to the table one at a time. I had the shrimp tacos with slaw, I'm not a fan of slaw but this was good. The shrimp tacos were lacking in flavor and the tortillas were very dry. One in our party had the salmon and another had the tricky fish platter. That was a hit as well. I frequent here so much! I absolutely love their Happy Hour hours which are from 2pm-6pm, Monday thru Friday. I usually take advantage of the $5 frozen margarita, $7 fried green tomatoes, and $1 gulf oysters on the half shell. And I have to say, usually gulf oysters can be a bit too "muddy" or not as "crispy clean" tasting to me as cold water oysters generally are. But here, this is (minus a couple of forgivable times) absolutely not the case. I have no idea where they source their oysters from, but they are a smedium sized, briny, delicious bite and a STEAL @ $1 an oyster. Apart from their HH menu, their main menu is full of tasty goodies that I'm slowly making my way through trying. I'm a big time lover of their calamari which are freshly fried and include (my favorite) tentacles! If you're in the mood for a salad and like bleu cheese, DO NOT OVERLOOK their Darn Good Salad! I returned twice in one week after trying this menu item for the first time. Their burger is a great option if you're not in the mood for seafood. It's not listed as a double cheeseburger on the menu, but the thing comes with two patties and is HUGE - so be ready! I've tried their fried shrimp on a whim thinking, "how great can fried shrimp be?" However, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with how much I enjoyed my meal. On another occasion I ordered their salmon medium rare thinking, "I bet they'll overcook it." But again, I was wrong! The salmon was perfectly cooked and did not have a fishy taste - not in the slightest, not in the least. I'd also recommend their shrimp and grits and macaroni and cheese. This is just my own personal taste, but menu items I've tried and not liked are: The Caesar Salad, Crab Cakes (they were okay, but overpriced IMO), and the coleslaw (just because it has a sweet chili Asian twist to it, and I'm not a fan of that flavor when it comes to coleslaw). Also! Be aware that the fried okra is actual okra sliced lengthwise and then fried. It's not your typical breaded, southern fried okra. The service and overall vibe is casually hip, airy, and light. It's not quiet and stuffy, but it's not loud and rowdy either. What's great is that whether you're dining solo or there to celebrate a happy occasion with a large group of family and friends, they can accommodate either or, no problem. It's easy to have and hear a conversation with your table or come for a working lunch and/or place to focus and study on schoolwork. And! If the weather is nice, they have covered, dog friendly patio with outdoor seating. Lastly, I have to add that I've never experienced bad service here, but my favorite server/waiter is Parker. He's always so courteous, attentive, informative, and polite! Anyways, I can't say enough good things about this place. I wish I'd taken pictures of everything I've ordered, but I'll be back. 5 stars for this amazing event that was held tonight. We got to try some of the best appetizers that tricky fish had to offer. We had the bringer of trying the blu cheese chips, fried green tomatoes. Thai chicken wings and calamari. Yum so freaking delicious I already was telling the wife we are coming back this weekend. Well let me start with the raspberry drink that one was a refreshing start to the night with Tito's vodka and a nice raspberry taste to finish off the taste of the drink. Next was the filthy pineapple mule which was my personal favorite I actually got it twice. This drink was again pineapple infused Tito's vodka cherry purée and ginger beer man I'm in love with mules I just wish they gave more. It's too small I need more liquor but thankfully tricky fish provided. I went on to get the old fashioned which was an experience in itself. The drink comes in a nice glass with a square ice cube then the waitress has a smoky mason jar with your drink in it that is poured into your glass that resembles a cinematography like experience. You are going to want to pull out the phone for this one cause it's insta worthy. I also had the lime in the coco fire and ice and another drink but I can't remember what it was but they were all really good.
