The bar is fantastic service has been very good at the bar. I really like all the different drinks available from the bar. The appetizer are very good go great with the drinks. All is very good so why do I think 3 stars? The answer is the food. I was not wowed by the food. I had the Blacken Tricky fish the taste was okay but I have had better. At Razzoo's restaurants I love the Tricky Fish. I heard Trick Fish is part of Razzoo's so I'm a little confused on the taste thing. And the etouffee was not the best it was okay also same thing I had better at Razzoo's. I do like the okra that came with the meal. We also had the pork rinds for apps. Fried green tomatoes with a tarter sauce on top for the appetizer... I hate tarter sauce but this tarter sauce was different. It's creamy and savory! These might be the best fried green tomatoes as well! I nice thick firm tomato! Each bite had a full BITE to it. They never got mushy!! I ordered the fried catfish platter with fries macaroni n cheese and dirty rice! The fish was fried correctly and had nice season to it. The dirty rice tasted CLEAN & fresh!!! The Mac n cheese was the sleeper though... it was waaaaaaaaaaayy better than expected very cheesey and creamy! I loved that joint!!! CLEEEEEAAAAAAAANED THE BOWL!! Tricky Fish, you deserve the award of best smoked old fashion in all of Texas. I was lucky enough to be introduced to Tricky Fish by an awesome Yelp Elite event back in November and I am so glad that we had that event because I would never have discovered the best smoked old fashioned. Quick summary of the food before I jump into the drinks: I liked the oysters, easy peel Cajun shrimp, and okra. These were all very well seasoned and made you want to hog the plate so you could eat them all by yourself. That being said, what makes Tricky Fish deserving of five stars, is the smoked old fashioned. They use a blow torch on a maple wood stick until it's nice and hot, they cover it with a giant mason jar to collect the smoke, and mix in the liquor (TX whiskey), bitters, and simple syrup. It is swirled around a couple of times and then poured into a garnished glass at your table. This presentation is done every single time. It is quite a show! Take a sip, and no kidding, you will say "wow!" It tastes just like a toasted marshmallow. Scotty was our main bartender and we got to talking. I told him that I love how it tastes like a toasted marshmallow and then he said, "Oh, you really like marshmallows? I've got something for you." He goes and blow torches a couple of marshmallows to garnish my drink! Scotty, you rock. Best of all, this fantastic drink is only $5 at reverse happy hour, which starts at 9 pm. I've also had their manhattan. It is partially poured for you from a flask, which they leave for you to finish your pour. I felt so cool! Every drink here has some unique element in how it is served or presented. Obviously, my favorite drink is the smoked old fashioned and I don't think any other place will ever beat it, but the manhattan is another great option. Not our favorite place. I got shrimp cocktail and shrimp and catfish combo. I've eaten boiled shrimp for over 60 years and have never had this texture before. Hard to describe, maybe a lot of people like this style but not me. The fried shrimp was nothing special The fried catfish was NOT catfish. It was good fried fish. Why do restaurants say it is catfish and then serve something else. Just call it fried fish. My wife had the snapper. It was a good size piece of fish with skin on. So I think this new little fish place in the new Waterside development, may be one of my favorite places in Fort Worth now. Walking in, you are greeted with two options - order at the counter and you can pick your own seating to the right. If you want table service, sit on the left. Now that the boring stuff is out of the way, onto the food. What I love about Trick Fish is that they have a great fusion of a fried-fish-shack with that of a Cajun diner. Fish Sandwiches, Po'Boys, Etouffee, even New Orleans-Style BBQ Shrimp are available. For my first visit I tried the Fried Fish Sandwich - a hefty serving of fish, fried and topped with tasty slaw, remoulade, and bacon jam. This concoction of ingredients, to me, made this the best fish sandwich I have ever had. The delicious macaroni and cheese and pork grinds(!) we had for starters were also great. On my second visit I went to the other side of the menu, going classic New Orleans with the BBQ Shrimp Piquant, which was also delicious, with one slight variation, they were served shelled, which actually was a blessing (this brought back nightmares of struggling through shelling spicy shrimp after a long day of excitement in the French Quarter). Hot but-not-too-hot sauce, plenty of shrimp and tasty rice, this is BBQ Shrimp done right. Regardless of the spectrum of the menu from which you choose, everyone must try the Fried Okra. Not your grandmother's fried okra, these are sliced longways, flashed-fried, topped with seasoning and no breading for the tastiest fried okra I've ever had. So Tricky Fish has a lot going on for it, including a nice drink menu and fun atmosphere. If you are craving fish in Fort Worth, obviously I recommend it. read more

Pretty good Seafood for Fort Worth; my general rule is "If you can't see the water, don't eat the fish." But Tricky Fish defies this and excels. The crawfish étouffée is actually pretty good(I'm from Louisiana.) Somebody in the kitchen, knows what they are doing. All in all, Tricky Fish is still on my list of go to restaurants. The hubby & I tried them for Saturday brunch and it was amazing. OMGoodness! We were immediately greeted by friendly staff who explained the concept and gave us time to look over the menu. Even though they have a separate brunch menu, the entire menu is available during brunch hours. We got the Farmhouse burger, the fried shrimp & oyster grits, and the D.I.Y. mimosa bar. The burger tasted as though we grilled it ourselves. Even the fries were perfect - super skinny & seasoned with a spice rub. The shrimp & grits were "momma slapping" good. It's been a while since I've found a spot that actually knows how to make good grits --- it did not hurt that they add cheddar, corn kernels, and bacon. The D.I.Y. mimosa bar includes a full bottle of prosecco, your choice of juice - pineapple, cranberry, or O.J., as well as fresh raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries. I went for the pineapple juice with fresh raspberries. We did the "couple's brunch" (peep the menu) which also came with an order of Bananas Foster Monkey Bread for dessert. Imagine a light, fluffy doughnut fritter topped with bananas foster - You have to end a decadent meal with an equally decadent dessert. I can't wait to check out lunch, dinner, and of course, more brunch here. Our waitress was delightful and all interactions with staff were equally pleasant. We came here Saturday for lunch and had a very enjoyable time. The food was good, then only reason for the 4 stars is the service. Our server took a long time to take our order and was just very awkward with us, she didn't offer us dessert and gave us the check without us asking - the place wasn't even busy. Anyway on to the food, we shared the Fried Green Tomatoes to begin with, they were very good - a squeeze of the lemon wedge really brought out their flavour and the cornmeal batter was nice. I had the fried fish sandwich and my partner had the fried platter with catfish, shrimp and oysters - he really enjoyed all of it. They were cool about subbing out the sides for an upcharge, so we got to enjoy the okra as well as the mac and cheese. My fish sandwich was really good and huge! The fish was fried really well and nice and crispy. I didn't realise the slaw was served in the sandwich - I should have taken it off as one I couldn't fit the sandwich in my mouth as it was soo big and two it made the sandwich soggy and the fish lost it's crispness. Nevertheless it was still a really enjoyable sandwich. The mac and cheese was nice, not my favourite - it had a lot of black pepper in it. The okra was nice, it wasn't classic fried okra but more like sautéd and dried. I also tried their smokey old fashioned, I realise I meant to get their s'mores old fashioned, served with toasted marshmallows but the smokey was still really good. They brought a huge mason jar to table filled with my old fashioned and smoke - it was very cool, and poured it into my glass. Food was good, service needs some work. I actually thought it was a counter service place from the photos I'd seen as the kitchen is open and the soda machines our out on display - all the soda is craft, not Coke or Pepsi. Lastly we didn't realise the cutlery was on the table in the mason jar, we thought it was napkins but it turned out it was just a fork in those sanitary bags - we had to ask for knives and well as side plates. read more

Went for a late lunch on a beautiful day and had such a lovely meal. Sarah was our server and she was so helpful with all our questions. I ordered the Daily Catch, red snapper and what a wonderful surprise! Available either grilled or blackened, Sarah assumed I would prefer grilled because of my question and she was absolutely correct. The snapper was perfectly grilled! The Daily Catch is available with 6 variations and I chose the Parmesan Grits which has a lovely tomato basil sauce with fresh tomato chunks, purple onions and basil served with zucchini. I declared the zucchini the best I've ever been served. Veggies are usually an afterthought in so many restaurants but not at Tricky Fish. Everything was beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious! We went here last night for dinner and it was pretty good. All of the staff was pleasant from the host party to the wait party. We had several at our table & ordered calamari & pork rinds for our appetizers. The portions are generous! The calamari was delicious, the battered stayed on and it remained crispy throughout the meal. The pork rinds were huge & we were happy to have something different offered! My fried seafood platter consisted of catfish, crawfish, & oysters. The catfish & crawfish weren't greasy at all but the oysters were a bit oily. I chose to substitute mac & cheese as my side & it did not disappoint. A few of the other entrees ordered were the fish & chips (huge fish portions!), shrimp linguini (my brother said the sauce was different, he said he'd go back but probably order something different), grilled salmon (was told it was good), & the kitchen sink gumbo (dad approved). Prices were what I would expect for the establishment, very affordable. One thing that threw as off was when we got there & throughout dinner it was a nicely dimmed, great ambiance! Around 9pm all the house lights turned on. It made us feel like they were closing, which they closed at 10pm. The table next to us made a similar comment too. It was just odd. Honestly some of the best sea food around that doesn't cost you a fortune! Every time I have come here the staff is always friendly and kind! Bar tenders are quick with making drinks! My two favorite dishes are the Tai wing appetizer and French toast dessert! Idk how they make the desert but it's amazing and to die for! All the portions have been a good fulfilling size! Parking can feel a little crowded just because there are so many businesses in that shopping area but it's new and there's plenty of spots available. Would recommend to anyone to try! read more

And that last sentence, in and of itself, is misleading because they have a number of fried items but PLENTY of grilled, blackened, sauteed options, too. Personal highlights: 1) They have my FAVORITE beer on tap (Altech Bourbon Barrel Ale). They have lots craft of beer options, both on tap and bottles/cans. Thursdays are $2 off beers all day!! What?!?! They have rotating all-day drink specials Sun-Mon. S: Bloody Marys, M: Mules, T: Margaritas, W: 1/2 off wine, Th: $2 off beers. 2) Caesar Salad. I know, you probably think blah blah caesar salad but it has this wow factor with charred hearts of romaine, roasted tomatoes, and flash-fried okra. Yum. I was nothing but impressed with this place. I went here with my two kids and my two elderly parents. The menu was diverse enough that there was something for everyone. The food ranged from very good to excellent. I particularly recommend the bacon-wrapped shrimp and the etouffee. The portions were surprisingly large and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. The place an everything in it was spotlessly clean, including the bathrooms. If I had use one word to praise this place, that word would be "efficiency." The staff here is constantly moving, and we were in and out in 40 minutes. On a Saturday... During peak dinner service... It is obvious that this place is well-managed and that the employees bust their backsides to keep it running smoothly. I would definitely recommend Tricky Fish to anyone looking for a quick seafood dinner in the Fort Worth area. That being said, you should know that this place is very noisy. First time was amazing and the second time was ok .. but third time was a totally disaster I took my friend there for her birthday and we had ordered drinks first also chip and queso and it was cold we sent it back and they bought it back out cold again .. so we just kept it and ordered food since they couldn't get it right .. We order food she had Salmon and Rice she was good but I ordered fish and shrimp fries and coleslaw .. I ate a lil and took the rest to go after going home my body cramped up and I started to have chilled later that night I had uncontrollably Diarrhea . I called the manager next morning ask for a refund cause we had spent 86.00 he said no refund and come stop by to pick up a 30 gift card so it had to be coleslaw or fish .. Tricky Fish, oh Tricky Fish. How delicious you are. I was introduced to this place by a wonderful woman of the community that gathers like minded, diligent Yelpers. Until my most recent visit, I had only enjoyed appetizers. Honestly, the appetizers are meal worthy. If you are looking at appetizers, you cannot go wrong with the calamari. It's also got fried peppers in it, and it's mostly rings, which I would say most probably prefer. It's thick, but not heavy. Filling, but light. The cocktail menu is wonderful. Truly. Complex cocktails with a fair price point. I may have had nearly all of them at some point, and I have never been disappointed. In this instance I tried a couple of things. First, the Mac and Cheese with Grilled Shrimp. The mac and cheese looked to be a small portion, but was quite satisfying. Let me say - it is not the baked, read crumb Mac and Cheese you might expect. It's a very straightforward Mac, light (not sharp) cheese, with the grilled shrimp. The shrimp really stole the show - it was cooker just right, and even a bit crisp around the edges. A real "grilled" taste. I also had a chance to try the fried shrimp and french fries. My goodness, the fries were so delicious. I don't generally eat fried food (or dairy, for that matter) but something about those fries had me contemplating my food decisions - I almost got the Fish and Chips. Next time! I really enjoyed my lunch here. We started with the fried pork rinds which were served with some sort of bbq sauce with a little kick to it. It was a good choice for an appetizer. For my entree, I chose the fried shrimp po'boy. The shrimp had a light batter and a very fresh taste. The bread was fluffy and served with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and red onion with a remoulade spread. Very tasty! I also substituted the French fries for fried okra. Tricky Fish's take on okra was very unique and unlike anything I've seen before. Points for creativity and taste.
