I've gone to Tricky Fish in FW a fair amount of times and the food is always delicious. However, the prices have seemed to take a leap. My birthday is tomorrow but I'm not going here because even though we can afford to splurge I feel like I won't be able to enjoy my food because I would feel guilty about how much it costs. Also, with February being Mardi Gras month there is supposed to be a special dish with good pricing available. Where is the advertisement for this? Being from Louisiana it would have been nice to go to Tricky Fish but I won't be there. read more

My wife and I ate and drank at the bar at the same time as a guy that left a one star review. Amazing how attitude can make all the difference in perspective. Our experience was very different. Meredith was the bartender and she was excellent. She was busy and was waiting on a lot of people, but she kept our drinks full and checked on us more than needed. Dinner was delicious and well prepared. The manager, Brad, came by and checked with us to make sure our order was satisfactory. I'd like to say, the Thai chicken wings, the fried green tomatoes, and the peel and eat shrimp are AWESOME. we told Brad that everything was great. It was the first time trying this place out. My friend Lu and I came for Sunday dinner. We able to sit down immediately and get our drinks ordered. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We started with fried green tomatoes that was topped with blackened shrimp and some kind of crème sauce . This was a great selection!! We both ordered the catch of the day and both chose Red Fish with a blackened finish ! Mine came with crawfish ettoufe and dirty rice while hers was served with herb butter and sautéed veggies! I was a bit worried when we first entered and the seating hostess was a sour puss. We wanted a table out of the traffic and she acted as if we cussed her. But then our waitress came and from there on we had a great experience. The waitstaff worked together to get our meals to us. The food was excellent and the price was not bad for the quality of the food. We had breakfast entries. We were so impressed that I located one near us. To start we have been going to the Fort Worth location for over a year. All previous visits have been great. For some reason when we visited 6/29/25 there was a very odd smell in the facility. Our food was okay, but nothing like it used to be which was amazing. Looks like corners are cut and the level am of attention to detail has fallen. Second visit today for lunch. Same ole same ole as last time. LOL. Excellent!! We came for oysters and peel and eat shrimp. We shared a dozen of each and finished with a shared half dozen fried shrimp as I wanted to try their remoulade sauce with fried shrimp. If this was the case last visit I failed to notice, but today the peel and eat shrimp were deveined (though still in the shell). As this is characteristic of frozen shrimp I asked our server if these shrimp are previously frozen or fresh. She said they are fresh and the kitchen deveins them. In 73 years I have never seen this done anywhere on the Gulf Coast where we are from, but maybe inland landlubbers are squeamish about eating the vein : ). I dunno. As far as we're concerned the kitchen should just save themselves the trouble. But it's their store. As on our previous visit, the shrimp were very nicely seasoned and not overcooked as is so often the case with boiled shrimp in many stores. If you are after oysters and concerned about price make sure to inquire. Last visit the oysters were Gulf oysters and priced accordingly, around $18 as I recall. I assumed the same would be the case today and did not inquire. When presented with the check I discovered the oysters were Blue Point and $27 a dozen. Had I known this I might have reconsidered as we are not huge fans of cold water oysters as we do not think they possess the flavors of various Gulf oysters. They are also most frequently (always?) quite a bit smaller compared to Gulf oysters. However these Blue Points were indistinguishable in size from many Gulf oysters and quite tasty. But they were cold water pricey (though compared to many restaurants serving cold water oysters, pretty reasonable at $27. Our server, Ashley B, did a lovely job making for a perfectly enjoyable dining experience. She also was well acquainted with all aspects of the menu and various dish preparations, able to answer all my questions quite articulately as we are interested in visiting for brunch one weekend and wondering about the preparation of several of the brunch menu items. Would love to see a Southlake store in the restaurant's future! read more

This was our first time to try Tricky Fish. We were able to make a reservation online, so we were seated quickly. We were given some free hush puppies with butter( not sure if that is a regular thing or not, but they were really good) our waiter was EXCELLENT. Great service is hard to find and the service here was perfect. We had the shrimp boil and my husband added crab. It was such good quality seafood. Decided to stop here on a Saturday night. Arrived around 5:00pm and luckily we where seated immediately. It was very busy and fairly loud inside. They have a full bar with a large select of cocktails, beer and wine. Wife had the grilled salmon (catch of the day) with mashed potatoes and veggies. Seasoned nicely and perfectly cooked. I had the fried catfish and shrimp platter that was delicious. The catfish tasted fresh and the breading was crispy and flavorful. Staff was quick and friendly that was impressive with the amount of people. They have plenty of seating with booths, tables and a full bar.
