It was a really great experience. Nice atmosphere, very casual. We really like the bar. The team. They are always nice, always friendly and always make the best drinks. The menu items are really good, it's not just tacos, not just fish, they have all sorts of great foods. We ordered the Thai chicken wings and the boil and peel shrimp for appetizers. They were really good, especially the Thai chicken wings, they were sweet and hot, we will definitely be ordering those again . For the entree we ordered the cheeseburger and the fish and chips. The cheeseburger was wonderful. We had everything on it, we do highly recommend it. The fish and chips were nice. Not too greasy. We substitute the fries for mac and cheese which was a nice touch. Ok this was first stop for girls out day. It was different. Nice space. I quess we left here because my friend wanted to order a drink we sat right by bar. Bar tender was like I am not your waiter he is coming.. It was maybe 5 people in the restaurant. So you can't take a order ok. No one at bar two people with drinks. Finally our waiter appeared 20 minutes later . We ordered appetizers just see if everything tasted like seafood. Which it did . We just decided to moved on. Waiter was attentive. Tricky Fish is a fun, upscale casual restaurant with an open industrial floor plan that reads more Old Bay than kitschy Cajun. We had a table of 10 that the staff handled marvelously. The staggered arrival time, the menu reflection time, the ordering, and the non-intrusive pre-dinner social time orchestrated by the staff created a relaxed but attentive flow to the evening. I ordered Today's Catch which was halibut, and I chose to go luxury with the Bourbon Sherry Linguini preparation. It was one of the best dishes I've had in a while because the halibut was fresh and light and balanced out the velvety sherry cream sauce. Interestingly, my photo of the dish was less successful than the pic of the cheddar cheeseburger with bacon jam ordered by my dinner companion. Mannnnnnn ohhhh mannnnn!! I AM IN LOVVVVEEEE. For starters the fried green tomatoes were absolutely delicious. The sauce on top along with the shrimp was a perfect pair made in heaven. We ordered the oyster shooters as well, I honestly wasn't a fan, but they weren't terrible. Sooo to the main dishes. Came in on a Saturday afternoon. Neat looking place and nicely decorated. Place is busy but was getting drinks and food out fast. We interacted with maybe 6 employees and they were all very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. We sat at the bar. We ordered the boudin balls as an appetizer. They were so delicious. Probably the best I've ever had. We split the fish and chips because we saw another table get it and it was HUGE. The batter on the fish was so delicious. The BEST! 02/18/24 3:30pm Sunday. Wow!! The place was fairly empty although the parking lot was full. We reserved a table as we didn't know how busy it would be. We were seated immediately and Hunter was our server. The menu has been scaled down since our last visit so we were a bit concerned about the quality. We ordered the tricky fish red fish blackened with dirty rice with crawfish etouffee and grilled okra. The rice and etouffee were amazing, full of flavor. The blackened redfish perfectly seasoned and cooked. The okra is my favorite like none I have ever had. The parmensan tomato basil shrimp and grits were heavenly. Creamy and tasty paired perfectly with the grilled shrimp which was juicy and full of flavor. Grilled veggies fresh and a perfect contrast to creamy grits. It was Saturday night at 8:00pm and this was one of the few places without an hour waitlist, so we went. They mainly have seafood and it's supposed to be Cajun food but it's not. I got the fried catfish and shrimp platter and it was just okay; not good or bad. I don't think the "catfish" was really catfish though. A friend took me here for my birthday and what a treat it was! I ordered the fish n chips, the Mac n cheese and the French toast bites for dessert. Oh my gosh! Every bite was so good!! The fish was NOT greasy at all! The fries were crispy and seasoned to perfection. The Mac n cheese was super creamy and rich with perfectly melty cheese. The French toast bites were sweet and yummy covered in warm icing with lots of vanilla ice cream! Oh, so good!! I also had a martini with lunch and it was well balanced and made perfectly. I totally loved this place which was funny because I wasn't real excited about going because I don't eat fish unless it's fried. But this fish was so fresh and not the least bit fishy. This is still a wonderful spot for seafood. Service was great. Following the covid restrictions very well, clean and limited tables/booths for dining in. An early dinner it was. Tasty yet not piping hot when served to our table was their "Fried Okra". A nice dish of shrimps & al dente pasta clumped in a delicious sauce was their "Shrimp Linguine". Our server came by and said they would be right with us. You could see he had a lot of tables, but he was still very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We did start with the bleu cheese chips. They were really good and had some great flavor with lots of toppings. We also had some cocktails and they have a pretty extensive menu for drinks for lots of different tastes. For my meal I wanted something light so I opted for the caesar salad with grilled shrimp. Our server came over shortly and I put in my bar drink order and also an appetizer. He came back to take our meal order and my friend and I got to chatting with each another. Someone else brought out our food and that's when we realized that our appetizer was never put in. Our server came by a little later and we told him about the appetizer. He assured us we would not be charged but what bugged me was he never even apologized for his mistake. The food however was delicious. The fish was huge and the fries were seasoned well. I'm not the biggest fan of cole slaw usually, but theirs was delicious. My friend really enjoyed the shrimp po'boy as well. The painkiller I ordered was good and strong.
