We had a strong soot smell coming from our fireplace, likely from years of wood burning by the previous owners. Eli initially recommended a full cleaning along with gas logs and a top-sealing damper. When that didn't fully resolve the issue, he came back out to reassess and suggested installing a full gas insert as the next step. What I really appreciated was that Eli credited us for the previous work (gas logs and damper) and helped us choose an insert that made sense. The only hiccup we experienced was with the third-party vendor supplying the insert, since we initially had to pay them directly and ran into some issues. However, Eli stepped in, handled the situation, and arranged to pay the vendor himself, allowing us to reimburse him instead--which made things much smoother. Throughout both the initial service and the final installation, his crew was prompt, courteous, and efficient.

Once it was installed (by the installer they set up for us) it was immediately evident that it was "rickety" at best. It was also an eyesore, with bright, plastic looking chrome on the handle which would have been impossible to see from the tiny thumbnail across the counter we looked at before agreeing to purchase (totally on us). But more importantly it wasn't stable. It rattles horribly when you open it. It rattles horribly when you close it. And it moves all around inside of its compartment. When we contacted the store, complete with video, we were told "no refunds," which was never disclosed during the purchase process. The receipt is emailed to you with the disclosure after you purchased the item and leave the store. The response from the manager was that this was the highest quality trash compactor on the market, despite the videos showing the contrary. He said maybe the install was dome incorrectly but his installer, who is very nice, told us that was the best he could do, so it was basically too bad for us. Buyer beware.

I was skeptical that I was going to like it, but for a variety of reasons, it's what made the most sense. In the end, they did a fantastic job, fixed all of the issues we had and made the fireplace look hugely better. Definitely recommend this company. They really stand out as being a cut above.

Honestly, Brendon and his crew are so easy to work with and are so bent on customer satisfaction, we couldn't imagine working with anyone else. Our latest project was initiated by the desire to make our house more fire-resistant. With the guidance of Brendon and landscape architect Brian Brodersen, we tore out many plants next to the house, got rid of all the bark, and put in fire-resistant plants like agaves, succulents, and Lomandra longifolia 'Platinum Beauty,' a beautiful low maintenance grass considered fire-wise. With plant knowledge, your fire-resistant & drought tolerant landscape doesn't have to be all succulents and cactus. We no longer have any grass to mow/fertilize/water, and we happen to find our grassless landscape more interesting to look at. The gravel is not only fire-safe, but gives a much more polished, finished look, and we elected to have weed-cloth installed beneath the gravel. Please check out the photos below. Since the new plants are so tiny, I've included pictures of older plantings, too.

I tried all the big name stores thinking I would be able to have a new refrigerator in time. Because I needed a black refrigerator to match the other appliances in our home, the eariliest they could have a new appliance was too late by 2 weeks. So, I checked appliance stores near me and that is when I discovered Reid's. It was 4th of July weekend, so first thing Monday, I reached out and spoke with Maria. Maira was fantastic and a great help! They did not have a black refrigerator, however, they did have a dark green that I could make work. So I bought the refrigerator and It was delivered Friday. Unfortunatley the refrigerator did not work properly and never cooled down and the freezer never produced any ice. So, Saturday I contacted Reid's and spoke with Omar the manager form Santa Barbara store. Omar and Maria worked with the owner and together they all came up with the PERFECT solution. They offered to come back out to pick up the refrigerator and deliver a loaner refrigerator. On my drive to the store, Maria called and told my husband they had a black refrigerator come in and they could deliver it that day. When I got to the store, Maria showed me several options that could be delivered that same day. I chose the black refrigerator, and Alex delivered it the same day and it's working perfectly! For inconvenience, the owner was very generous and we appreciate him very much! We could not be any more pleased ! If I could have given them 10 stars I would have! Thank you so mucy Reid's team! Some years ago, we purchased two appliances from Reids Appliance, Ventura. They were the rudest…read morecompany we had ever dealt with. Again, today, a delivery was made around the corner from us. After delivering the appliance this driver moved his truck onto our street and sat there idling his diesel truck for over 15 minutes. We have people at this address with two forms of cancer and other health issues. Their diesel truck fumes engulfed our entire house even with the windows closed. We called and talked with the manager of the store. This manager stated that their truck was unable to move without idling for 20 minutes per California rules, which is an obvious lie because he moved over 30 feet then stopped out front of our house. There was no apology offered by this manager. What we find typical of Ventura businesses these days is they do not care anything the community they serve. There is no empathy, no caring about people these days. This is what we found from our local Reids some years ago and their attitude has degenerated to being a store we will never purchase items from, ever. Back then, they never serviced our appliances properly, heaven knows what they do these days. We shop at Lowe's-Ventura these days because they back their appliances with knowledgeable service warranties and customer service.

Honestly, I've had so many not-great experiences with various handymen over the years, that I…read moreprocrastinated looking for yet another one. But when we needed to change out an old bathroom vanity for a new one, we knew we had to get serious about it. And if you hire a plumber to do the work, which DOES involve some plumbing, then it costs way more. I resigned myself to the search and literally just contacted the most popular handyman service in my town based on Yelp reviews. Guess what? thank goodness I did! 805's Handyman (NOT to be confused with "805 Handyman") responded right away--even though it was a Sunday and the World Cup games were on. I uploaded pics, sent in the details, got an estimate, and made an appointment. On the day of, a nice truck drove up with the logo painted proudly on the side (not a guy in a fancy sports car, like handyman #9). Two sturdy guys came in and got down to business right away--no fuss, all smiles, and dare I say it? Like they loved what they do. (Unlike handyman #7 who was a former engineer and complained the whole time, even refusing to do some tasks!) Long story shorter, the bathroom vanity switcheroo turned out to be bigger and messier project than expected. It ended up involving some retiling, grouting, electrical adjustments, alterations to trim, painting--and the plumbing bits and installation and removal. The workers were quiet, helpful, communicated the whole time and were just generally old-school excellent (unlike handyman #4, who was nice, but got everything crooked and a bit wonky, bless his heart). The 805's Handyman workers did ALL the plumbing/installing/electrical/tile work/painting--the whole shebang. And the end result is a sweet transformation for our upstairs bath (I also asked them to take care of a few more items on my to-do list, which they did quickly and again, with smiles). The whole thing was very gratifying. So much so, that the next time something in our house needs fixing, I will actually look forward to hiring 805's Handyman again. We're lucky to have them in the Ventura area and they are popular on Yelp for very good reasons.

I communicated with them through yelp and then we took to contact by phone/text. They were super communicative and prompt on setting up a date for repairs. They worked around my schedule which was appreciated and followed through without issue. I had them work on an outdoor electrical/lighting fixtures and Patrick did it with ease. He came with all his supplies and was prepared, he swapped out my old, ugly lighting fixtures and put in the new ones no issue. He was careful but prompt with getting this task complete. Very nice guy and someone you could trust and who did a honest thorough job. Aside from doing great work and being professional, the price point was also very reasonable compared to ten other quotes I got (yes, I do my research). They are affordable, professional and most importantly they did a great job. Even my neighbors watching from the outside were impressed and came over to take some business cards. I know I'll be locking them in for some more appointments and repairs in the near future. Great work and happy to have a trustworthy handyman in the area.

It's the third day now and everything is working great. WHY WE CHANGED: Just got tired of increasing monthly rates and having to open the garage for the techs to switch out the tanks. If only all contractors could be like TriCounty Aire... *sigh* My HVAC system, while I'm sure worked fabulously when it was installed in my home in 1992, had slowly become my little housing nightmare. Like clockwork, it would crap out on Christmas Day, or July 4. After spending too much money band-aiding it over a few years, it was time to replace the system. I had TriCounty Aire provide a quote, along with 3 other contractors. I ended up selecting TriCounty Aire, and besides going back to my natural hair color, it's been one of the best decisions of my life. I was given a firm date and time for my install, and sure enough, the crew showed up on time, ready to work. It was incredibly well orchestrated. It's not like they arrived in waves, and stood around on the driveway, waiting for direction. Every person who showed up knew exactly what to do, and set to work doing just that. It was quite something to watch, actually. 8 hours later, I had a brand new HVAC system. And, they even cleaned the floors. lol Since the install was completed, I received a few initial follow-up calls from TriCounty Aire to make sure everything was working fine, and I was happy. The sales person came a week later to take heating/cooling measurements, to make sure the system was calibrated properly (!). Better yet, since it's been about a year since the install, the girls in the office actually call me to set up my scheduled service appointments. I don't remember these things, and if you miss your appointments, it voids your warranty, so I love that the employees stay on top of this for me. The system itself works perfectly (nothing stops a York! lol), and my bills are 25-30% less per month than what I paid with my old, tired system. I couldn't be happier with the experience with TriCounty Aire, and I have such peace of mind knowing I can rely on them in the future. read more

A few months ago, in anticipation to allergy season, we decided to install an air scrubber. We contacted Tricounty Aire for assistance with helping us decide on whether we should go for this and with the actual installation process. The staff at Tricounty Aire was very helpful , timely and professional. They were able to work within the confines of our busy schedule especially since I just had a baby. They were able to schedule a date and time in a timely fashion. The technician notified us of their estimated arrival time the day of service and they were pretty accurate. The technicians were very professional and knew what they were doing. They wore shoe covers upon entering our home which I appreciated since my baby was still a newborn at the time. Their work was quite thorough, they inspected several other things and explained everything to me. After the installation process, Tricounty Aire reached out to us to get feedback and to check up on how the air scrubber was doing... Weeks after the installation I have noted decreased dust and also the smells in our kitchen don't linger as much (and we cook a lot). Also, the prior home owners had a cat which I believed triggered my husband's allergies. These are remarkably better. My newborn was also having issues with her breathing which would be triggered at night which I attributed in part to something in her room, this also improved. I have also noted that we have not gotten sick, which in a home with two kids is priceless. Not only was everyone very professional and knowledgeable but the air scrubber has also been very helpful. Yelp to the rescue once again! It's a horrible feeling waking up to a warm house in the middle if summer. Not knowing which company to call doesn't help either. Luckily our first place to search is yelp. TriCounty Aire had great reviews so we gave them a call. The lady who answered was very nice and willing to have someone out within a few hours. Wow! Dan arrived at our home at the scheduled time. He was great! He walked us through each step of his process determining what the problem could be. Our blower failed and after our initial phone call on Monday with Michelle, Giovanni met with us on Tuesday morning and diagnosed our problem and discussed our options. Wednesday, Diego and Nick began work on our replacement. Thursday, they finished work. We are extremely pleased with the work completed by this crew. The heat of the summer started and my Mom's air conditioning didn't. Because of the high temperatures, everyone was making appointments. He was surprised how clean our system was and that it was still running in tip top shape. I asked him if it needed any cleaning and he said it was still clean and did not need to be cleaned. He did not try to upsell me on any additional services. He did replace the capacitor at no additional costs to keep the unit running at full capacity. They charged me $130 to do a HVAC tune up and I'm glad I chose Anacapa. He also cleaned the outside fan unit to keep the coils clean. Before Anacapa came out, I had an Air Duct company come out a couple days before to look at my ducts to see if they needed cleaning. But they did not see anything bad that needed cleaning, so I wanted to wait for Anacapa to service my HVAC unit and get their opinion my air ducts at the same time. David looked at the ducts and said they do not need cleaning and a huge part of that is because I change my HVAC air filter every few months to keep dirt and dust out of the system. The way I decided on Anacapa was using google Gemini AI to help me decide on a company I was looking for. Happy with my decision. 5 stars!!

I asked them to look at it for their $127.50 diagnostic fee. After he went. He left me 5 increasingly distasteful messages including not knowing what was wrong but wanted an additional $800 to replace something that ended up not needing to be replaced. He also wants payment right away. I paid him after work on the second day, he wouldn't allow me time to look at the furnace for myself, in order to make a determination on how to proceed. So I declined any additional work. Since it wasn't fixed and he wasn't at all helpful, I ended up finding the fix this myself by finding and cleaning out a clogged gas feed tube with compressed air. It was good as new. This dude is pushy, rude, and seems to want to guess and check parts at my expense. No thanks. There's better options out there I'm sure. ***In response to the business owner's. We found the obstruction on my next available day off of work. It would have been nice if you could have fixed and/or mentioned that to me. The only mention was of the gas valve at a cost of $800. I said I would find someone else, as this was not my intention to fix this since we had already tried. We got lucky. I would have gladly paid more than your diagnostic fee if you had the ability to fix it. Yelp reviews can be fakes now. Just because I made this a few months ago and didn't report it doesn't mean a single word in my statement is false. Buyer beware.

He diagnosed that the blower needed to be replaced. (I am a certified aero engineer, so am familiar with ignition and burner systems) When questioned about the continuously activating ignitor, he indicated that the continuously running ignitor was "normal." When I sowed him online that the continuously activating ignitor was not normal and could be dangerous, he didn't 52 minutes researching Google on his cell phone and did not change his diagnosis or estimate fir cleaning the fan and replacing the blower that was working fir an additional $240 over the warranty's initial service fee. I called highly recommended Air Systems Solutions in Ventura, CA who arranged for a technician visit the next day. He was very courteous and did a very thorough job and replaced the ignition panel. Aside from the part itself, the service fee was less than half of the original contractor's estimate. Highly recommend work from Air Systems Solutions in Ventura CA.
