Recently started to visit Trident on my breaks at work and love their coffee. My usual is an iced Americano, but have picked up cold brew a few times and am a huge fan. Have also picked up a few bags of Trident and Dam The Torpedos to make my own cold brew at home. The decoration inside is very cool, and so many things to look at while you're waiting for your drink. Trident has brought their great Nitro Cold Brewed Coffee to Coronado with some great baked good too! They offer a great range of cold brews form light to dark, including decaf as well. There on the premise bakery offers Keto and Vegan baked goods consisting of donuts, muffins, bagels, and a unique cinnamon rolls. It's a small shop with limited seating out side on the sidewalk, but they have a lot of good stuff to offer. Very good friendly service. I like the way they take the time to go over all their products. read more

My wife and I live in La Mesa but had to stop by Coronado and since we were in town, couldn't help but pop into Trident. We were overjoyed to not only discover all of their Gluten Free options but their health-minded coffee options too! Dana and Hannah were both at the height of their powers, with Dana being extremely quick/efficient with our order and Hannah being an absolute delight to speak with. We got the Blackberry Cobbler latte, a Collagen latte, a chocolate donut and a jalapeño cheddar bagel. The coffee was smooth and tasty and the pastries were delicious (without being too sweet)! Great food, coffee, and service. We'll definitely be coming back to Coronado to see them again. read more

I'll first say that the people working behind the counter are great. They give amazing service 10/10 on that. Okay, I'm a classic cafe drink girl. Every now and then I'll change it up with something fun, but 98% of the time I get a classic drink. No extra items in it - no flavors, no sweetener. I don't go to Trident very often, but when I do and I'm sipping on my drink on my way back to my car I question why I keep ordering from them. The lattes and flat whites I get are always sour and very acidic. The iced mocha I had the first time I ordered Trident was lacking flavor. I don't know what's up. Is it just me? Or is it the roast? I really want to like this place because it's local and veteran owned, but I t falls short for me. read more

Trident Coffee specialises in nitro cold brew coffees. Each of them has a unique name (reference to Navy) and flavours. They are on tap so you can order your cold brew and get it right away. Whether you get a light or dark roast, their cold brews are flavourful, very smooth and not bitter at all. I've been here few times and their staff have been always friendly. They have locations in Coronado and Imperial Beach. So if you are in the area, you should definitely try Trident Coffee. read more

Adorable little coffee shop along the main drag in Coronado! I tried a cortado, my new go-to coffee shop drink. It was rich and delicious. I sat outside sipping, reading, and watching the sights. I recommend stopping in if you're strolling through Coronado and love fresh roasted coffee. read more

After a long bike ride, we cruise into this place for some coffee and coffee cake. The coffee was good and they only had a gluten-free coffee cake. We weren't wildly excited about that but ordered it anyway. It actually tasted pretty good. There is outdoor and indoor seating available. Sitting outside is a great place to people watch. read more

Just went to the new location in Pacific Beach and it did not disappoint! They have a variety of cold brew and coffee options and put a healthy twist on classic drinks. I got the Mexican mocha. It was very good but definitely very chocolatey/milkey. So if you aren't in the mood for a dessert drink I would opt for something else! However as a sweets lover, I thought it was great. We also tried the keto churro donut. The donut itself was pretty bland but the sugar on top helped. It is a great option if you are looking for a healthier donut, but personally I would probably just go for the real thing if I was in the mood for a donut again! The new location is also right by the beach so it's the perfect pit stop on your next morning walk:) read more

Aquaman better watch out because I think the owner of this coffee shop, definitely stole his power of the trident. The nitro brew coffee here is a powerful and magical thing. There is a range of light, medium and dark roasts. If you don't know what to get, don't stress. The staff will totally help you out and even give you samples to try... Even if you're not a believer in the nitro brew coffee scene, I'd command a giant column of water and get one of these coffees in your hand ASAP. You'll feel like one dominant being. read more

First time at Trident, I was just in the area looking for coffee and come upon this spot. Cool & personable guy, Adrian, helped me out with which cold brew would suit my taste. They allow you to sample their nitro cold brews as well. They also have nitro cold brews that correspond with their specialty cold brews. Solid experience and I will definitely be coming back. Meet the Business Owner: Eric J.

Serving as a Naval Officer, Eric Johnson started brewing his own cold brew coffee during his final tour of duty in Iraq. He noticed how coffee and tea act as a bridge between cultural differences. All of the chaos of conflict would pause between him and village elders for a brief moment while enjoying a nice cup of coffee or tea together. Two cultures born a world apart were communicating on so many levels without saying a word- that was it! Eric had found his calling and thus set out to create Trident Coffee Roasters.

It was so well balanced. It looked really sweet, but because of how balanced all the flavors were, it didn't actually taste overly sweet. I don't even like caramel and it was SO good in this. The outside was soft, and the toffee and pretzel inside gave it a nice crunch. I really liked the combination of the soft cake with the crunchy pretzel toffee. Wagyu Cheeseburger with fries (8.5/10) - The patty had a smoky, grilled type of flavor that was really yummy. It was a good portion and was made really well. The fries were also a decent addition as a side choice. Egg Sandwich (8.5/10) - Pretty basic, but really well made and put together. The bun was a bit toasted, so it wasn't super soft and had a slight crispness to it, which I liked. The flavors were really well balanced and it was honestly so good. Service: The best service! Even when it wasn't a staff member in charge of our table, we were frequently checked on and everyone was super attentive and conversational, which made the experience a lot more personal and better. I love being able to share a laugh and have a conversation with the staff. The staff member responsible for our table was Heider, and he was super attentive, helpful, conversational, and patient. We also loved meeting Sasha! She's super nice and conversational as well. Thank you for having us! Ambiance: Such a nice restaurant inside and outside. We got the patio high top seating and it was really nice. It was hot out, but the big umbrella helped. It's super busy, but it still felt nice outside, and everything looked super clean and aesthetic. Really nice vibes overall.

I hope management takes this seriously and addresses the sanitation issue, as well as how concerns like this are handled with customers.

When I arrived, there was a very long line, but because my order had already been placed, I went to the designated pickup area. While waiting, I watched the employee behind the counter speak politely and normally to other customers. When it was my turn, I turned my phone around and politely said, "Hi, I'm here to pick up for" Before I could even finish my sentence, the employee looked at my phone, rolled his eyes, turned away from me, and went to retrieve the order. There was no greeting, no acknowledgment, and no basic courtesy. He handed me the order while staring at me, rolled his eyes again, and immediately returned to the register. The interaction was so noticeably hostile that I looked back at him and asked, "What's your problem?" He immediately turned away and began helping someone else. I then asked another employee whether there was a manager available and explained what had just happened. Her response was essentially that there was "a lot going on" and that they were busy. Being busy does not excuse treating a customer disrespectfully especially when I had just watched other customers receive normal, courteous service. What made this experience particularly concerning was what happened next. While I was still making sure my large order was complete, another customer approached the pickup area. The same employee who would not even allow me to finish my sentence immediately greeted this man with, "Hello, how can I help you?" and proceeded to speak to him politely and professionally. That was the exact basic courtesy I had been denied only moments earlier. As a Black woman, I cannot ignore that difference in treatment. I watched this employee demonstrate that he was perfectly capable of greeting customers, communicating professionally, and being courteous. He simply chose not to extend that same treatment to me. Based on what I personally witnessed, the disparity felt prejudicial and discriminatory. I then walked to the neighboring sister establishment to ask how I could contact management because I had not been provided helpful management information inside the coffee shop. Ironically, the employee I spoke with there was also Latino, and he treated me with complete respect. He listened, offered to get a manager, asked whether I was okay, and apologized that I had experienced something uncomfortable. That interaction is important because my complaint is not about anyone's ethnicity it is about the specific behavior of the employees who dealt with me at the coffee shop. What was also strange was that the coffee shop employees who had just explained that everything was so hectic suddenly had plenty of time to stand at the counter and watch me while I spoke with the neighboring business. They continued watching me until I got into my car. There had been an enormous line of customers, yet somehow the "too busy" explanation disappeared when it came time to watch what I was doing after I asked about management. That made an already uncomfortable situation feel even more hostile. The Smoking Gun needs to seriously evaluate who it places in customer-facing positions. Customers should not have to wonder whether their race affected the basic level of dignity and courtesy they received. If an employee is overwhelmed or having a bad day, take a break, ask for help, or work away from the front counter. What you do not do is selectively discard basic manners with one customer and then immediately demonstrate those same manners to the next. I came in to pick up coffee for a wedding. I was polite. I was there to collect an order and leave. There was absolutely no reason for me to be treated with hostility. I will be filing a formal complaint with management regarding this incident. I hope management takes it seriously, reviews what occurred, and provides its staff with appropriate customer-service and anti-discrimination training. No paying customer should be treated as though basic respect is optional. And yes, they can run the cameras back it'll be in there ! Then to ice the cake, they literally got the order wrong and didn't give me all the items for the party that I was taking it to! Could look me up and down but not look the orders up and down !

I had a truly disappointing experience at Trident Coffee. The place was not only unkempt, but I also noticed flies buzzing around, which was quite off-putting. The coffee itself was mediocre at best--definitely not worth the trip. To make matters worse, the service was incredibly slow and indifferent. What a COOL spot to stop at on Orange Ave! I love that they offer healthy pastry options like keto donuts AND nitro cold brew from the tap. As I was leaving the customer who had chatted with the barista for 20 minutes and wasted everyone's time got BACK IN LINE! If there are events in the area you need to STAFF ACCORDINGLY. Get your act together, this is an embarrassment to the Bird Rock name.
