Came here as it was a recommendation from a local friend from Chicago for dim sum. The restaurant is located in China town, pretty spacious, and clean. We only had to wait for 10 minutes and got seated. The food came out steady - enough time for us to enjoy each meal without feeling like we are rushing to eat. Price point for dim sum - overall cheap and not expensive. All the food came out hot and fresh. We ordered the following: - shrimp dumplings - no complaints, the dumpling was soft. Texture was good. - sui mai - it was good. Normally other places have that frozen taste and smell to it. This restaurant didn't. - chicken feet - no complaints - steamed beef tripe w/ ginger - flavorful, other places comes out bland but not this restaurant - stuffed green peppers - wasn't really a fan. The peppers kind of tasted bitter. - shrimp rice crepes - perfect. Crepes were soft and thin. - bbq pork rice crepes - I personally wasn't a fan of this one. The bbq pork made it too sweet. - small fish maw soup - enjoyed the soup and was a good portion for 2 people. Definitely packed some to bring home. Triple Crown is our family's go-to spot for dim sum in Chinatown, as we have to travel from Milwaukee to get true dim sum! As someone who has been coming here for years, I'd say the ambiance at Triple Crown has improved over the years - it has more recently felt a lot cleaner, and the dining room seems to be used more fully. The area along the back wall has a new mural (beautiful, btw) and used to be filled with boxes and prep stations, but when we were there in December it was full of diners, which was nice to see! Our dim sum favorites include their siu mai, har gow, shrimp and chive dumplings, charsiu bao, shrimp crepe, beef crepe, chicken feet, shrimp and chive pan fried dumplings, un choy, and of course those little piggy custard buns and the custard tarts for a sweet finish. Everything always comes out hot and fresh, and service is efficient. We've never had a bad dim sum experience here! We have only ordered off the 'regular' menu a few times which has been hit or miss, but love the Salt and Pepper Shrimp - they have heads on, and are SO crispy and flavorful; highly recommend. read more

While visiting Chicago, we made our way to Chinatown and dined at Triple Crown Restaurant, and I was really pleased with the experience. I ordered the shrimp fried rice and chicken egg rolls, and both were very good. The shrimp fried rice really stood out--it tasted authentic, especially with the bean sprouts and green onions, which a lot of Chinese restaurants in Florida tend to skip. That detail made a big difference. Of course, I had to sample a few bites from my family's plates, and I also enjoyed the General Tso's chicken and the Mongolian beef. Both were flavorful and well-prepared. One thing worth noting--the entrées are very shareable. If you decide to go, one plate could easily feed three people, maybe even four, depending on appetites. The ambiance was nice, and the service was decent--nothing over the top, but it got the job done. Service was the major pain point here and almost didn't stay - they told us it would be a 20 min wait and would call us bc they didn't want us waiting in the area so we had to stand outside - they wrote the number down wrong so we never got a call. Then they had us waiting another 15-20 mins. It was frustrating . They also messed up our order at the table & we had to constantly ask for utensils and water bc they wouldn't bring out enough for the total number of ppl at our table. We were seated immediately and ordered a few things from the menu. I found the price point and portions to be fairly priced. I enjoyed the flavor of the salt & pepper pork chop, it had a little sweetness to it that complemented the dish well. Really great spot for dinner in chinatown!! They have a variety of dim sum and classic Chinese dishes and everything was phenomenal! Highlights were the bbq pork buns, filet and mushroom dish, and of course had to try the custard buns with the cute faces. One of the "old" favorites of Chicago Chinatown. This has always been one of my favorites in the old Chinatown off of wentworth. Get dim sum all day or get their amazing entrees with classic Chinese dishes. Even more amazing is that local craft brewer Marz has brewed a collaborative rice lager beer with jasmine tea. Their chicken, pork, fried rice , vegetable dishes are all delicious. Very friendly staff and management that came by to chat with us too! It has been a while since we've been back. But we came back for dimsum and our experience just wasn't the same. We had a somewhat big group, and were able to be seated pretty quickly at opening. Be sure to make a reservation if you have a bigger group as they do get busy pretty quickly. Once we were seated the dimsum sheet was on the table and folks were able to order all the stuff we wanted. They were quick about bringing everything out. We had all of our dishes super quickly, we couldn't eat fast enough for the plates to come out. Needless to say, I was so excited to come back and eat. Maybe we came on an off day but everything tasted super bland. We were given limited sauces and kept having to ask for more despite having a large group. Overall, if I'm in the area I may consider but I might be trying other dimsum areas in Chinatown as well. read more

Din sum all the way. They also have lunch plates if you flip over the menu. They bring your orders on carts, but don't wheel around carts with premade dim sum. You order by checking off what you want on the menu. S, m, lg, xlg. As they deliver they check it off. The dim sum arrived hot and fresh. We also ordered hand pulled noodles from the lunch menu and for $3 more we added American broccoli to the dish, unfortunately the dish arrived lukewarm and the broccoli was cool. It was still good and a healthy serving. I highly recommend this restaurant. We arrived at around 1pm on a Friday and people continued to arrive all thru lunch. The food was very tasty and the portions were a good size. The food was very fresh. They only use the bamboo steamers once, so no worries about hygienic. The toilets have seat coverings and there is a foot pull to open the door so you don't have to touch the door after washing your hands. You walk into the restaurant on the ground floor and walk up to the seating area as you pass the fountain. All seating is upstairs and if you time it right you can get a bay window seat. read more

I was in town for a Cubs vs Sox game and one of my friends decided to take me to Chinatown. Out of all the times I've been in Chicago, this was the first time I've ever been to their Chinatown. Stir fry e fu noodles -3.5/5 I asked it not to be cooked in a lot of soy sauce and that's what I got. Noodles were firm, hot and cooked right. I tried using chopsticks but had ask for a fork... I wanted to eat lol Ginger drink 2.5/5 nothing to right home about . A little to sweet for me as I prefer my ginger to be more bitter and spicy than sugary. We came on a Friday around 6:30pm and were seated immediately (party of 3). It's dim sum all day plus an a la carte menu with other specialty dishes (I saw lobster which looked good but too rich for our blood that night). We ordered shrimp dumplings, siu mai, black bean chicken feet, steamed bean curd with pork, bbq steam bun, and beef stir fry flat noodle (only non-dim sum item we got). All the dim sum items were great! The siu mai was nice and juicy, I thought everything was really fresh and steamed well. The shrimp dumplings maybe steamed a little too long because it kind of fell apart. Bean curd was really tasty. Chicken feet and steamed bbq bun on par with other places. The only miss was the beef stir fry. It was on the bland side. Adding the hoisin sauce helped, but I wouldn't order it again. Writing this review to remind myself to come back next time we visit! It was my first time ever in Chinatown, there were a lot of people out there, and it was very sunny too. I took an Lyft to Chinatown since I was pushing for time that day. I didn't realize how big of a community Chinatown is until I first experienced it for myself. I knew going to Chinatown I wanted some delicious soup dumplings. I picked a random restaurant while I was walking. I came across restaurant Triple Crown Dim Sum. Walking in the restaurant you'll have up go up some stairs, the restaurant is on a second level, I didn't notice an elevator for the ones that might need it. Once, in the restaurant you'll notice the beautiful dragons paintings in the building, on the first floor it's a water fountain with gold fish. There were many staff on shift that day, I ordered some soup dumplings alongside a cocktail called The Crown. The dumplings were so delicious, the sauce that was in the soup dumplings was made perfectly like I can't really explain the taste, but it really was good. Now, I was going to order more, but I ate lunch before I went there. I can't wait to go back to Triple Crown. read more

I will say it's nice to eat warm steaming dim sum on a cold winters day, and sitting next to the window is nice to see the beautiful buildings outside. Stopped by Triple Crown as it looked to be one of the better dimsum restaurants in Chinatown Chicago. It was very interesting to compare other dimsum restaurants to what I'm used to growing up near NYC. It was strange to see a lack of dimsum carts pushing food around as I'm used to the loud atmosphere and old dimsum ladies everywhere as this seemed like a made-to-order style restaurant. They also did not ask what type of tea we would like. Choosing our type of tea is something we're used to in NJ/NYC. We ordered around 8 or so dimsum dishes and everything came out hot and tasty. We had a couple orders with rice rolls that could have been steamed a little longer but everything came out hot and fresh with no complaints. I still prefer dimsum in the Northeast better, but this certainly hits the spot! read more
