    Oklahoma fried onion cheeseburger

I caught their burger stand in Santa Monica at the Eater Garden. It was kinda early so I didn't have any wait to order and they told me it would take about 7 minutes as they were made to order The burger was pretty good and I'd order here again if the are in my area, but I was hoping for a little more of an impressive flavor to the meat than what I got. Maybe just to high expectations. Don't get me wrong most burger spots won't come close to this level of flavor. I ordered the double patty Oklahoma which added fried onions which were awesome I think next time I'll get a triple as the double felt a little smaller than what I was expecting

Overpriced ($13). Double cheeseburger was fine, a good burger and hit the spot but nothing special. Food Truck had a very limited selection, no other nearby choices so spent $16 all-in for a standard double. Smashburger competition is everywhere and want to support this business, but honestly have had better burgers for under $10.

Tripp Burger is currently my favorite burger in LA. I didn't say the best because that's subjective, but I eat a lot of burgers and it is ELITE. In fact, I went to Hamburger America in NYC and I prefer Tripps. The double patty Oklahoma style is my order - perfect every time, the meat quality really is the star here. Also LOL at people's commentary of Mark being "rude" - he's got a dry sense of humor that I think is lost on a lot of people. Personally will continue to chase Tripps all around South Bay for their pop ups and the ever elusive chili!!

Looking for a new burger joint near me, I turned to Yelp! And Tripp Burgers showed up as #1. I didn't realize it was a pop up, but once I found them (address leads you to Trader Joe's/CVS and you'll find Tripp on Sepulveda just in front of CVS, look for the sidewalk grill or follow the aroma of grilled onions). Be prepared this is a no cash spot. They focus on quality here, so choices are simple, cheese or no cheese, onions or no onions. A tasty smash burger cooked perfectly on a flat top. The bun was amazingly fresh and soft and I can't wait for another burger craving to hit, because I know where I'm going back to! Though next time I'm going in for a double pattie! The pop up offers diced raw onions, ketchup and mustard for condiments but the burger is perfect without condiments. The potato chips were an east coast inspired Chesapeake Bay seasoned "crab chips". They're not the star of this pop up it's all about the burger! Totally worth the stop!

Recently smashed one of these burgers at Three Weavers Brewing. Pretty solid! Only complaint is they made us wait pretty long to take a break. Good patties, nice onions, soft bun. Worth trying if you see it around. Get a double.

Flight delayed and figured I would go for a 4th time to Tripp's Pop Up. Same as before. Great. I was going to take a picture, but I ate it up too fast.

Inexcusable customer service by the owner of this place.

Got food poisoning after eating one of their burgers. Do yourself a favor and avoid eating here! UPDATE: Check out this screenshot of the owners response to this post. Bad food and even worse customer service.

Slowly trying to check off my fairly lengthy list of L.A. burger spots to try. Up next for me was Tripp Burgers, which is a literal pop up outfit on the sidewalk next to the CVS/Trader Joe's on Sepulveda. Based on the pictures I saw both on Yelp and social media that Tripp's smashburgers were pretty thin, so I opted for for the 3-Stack (i.e., triple cheeseburger) with fried onions. Turns out that a the amount of meat in their triple cheeseburger is actually pretty damn substantial! Comparatively, one of these patties is probably a little more meat than your typical In-N-Out patty. As for the burger itself, the meat patties had a strong meaty flavor to it but not overly salted. They say that there is a hint of pork in the patty and you can definitely taste that bacon in it. The American cheese slices certainly took a backseat to the meat. They also give you raw onions, pickles, ketchup, and mustard on the side, which helps contrast the meatiness of the patties. And I thought the burger definitely was better for having the fried onions! At $9 for a single, $12 for a double, and $16 for my 3-Stack, you are definitely paying a premium price for the product. But given the quality of beef (they use USDA Prime) and the fact that it is a pop-up operation, I'm ok paying that amount on occasion. You can tell Mark takes a lot of pride in owning this pop up. He was really friendly and guided us through the menu as first timers. Also gave us a free sticker and a stamp card! And there are clearly a lot of regulars that come here, as we noted with the line that Parking is easy since it's right next to the CVS/Trader Joe's. Should not be a problem even on a busy day. Tripp Burgers is good, but I want to keep searching to see what else is out there with L.A.'s vast burger options.

If you've been to a popular BBQ place in the South, you're no stranger to the lines. I've been to APL at two pop-up locations: Ayara Thai in Westchester & Gin Rummy in MDR/Venice. The latter (and current) location, Gin Rummy, has seating, so it's a better experience. Ayara is a Michelin-listed Thai place, but Chef Adam was serving out of the back & there was no seating. So far, Ive tried the burnt ends (9/10), beef ribs (9/10), lamb chops (9/10), and pork ribs (7.5/10). To put this in perspective, I would not score any of these items anywhere else in L.A. higher than a 7/10. Yes, some of the sauce can be overly-sweet, but the craftsmanship that goes into smoking the meat is unparalleled in L.A. And, yes- I have a charcoal smoker at home and make decent brisket and ribs. As other reviewers have mentioned, prices are high, portions are large, and there's almost always a wait, so best to go with a party of 4 or larger so that you can sample more of the menu. And, they should add one more order kiosk and add one more person to cut the meat in order to move the line quicker. I could eat this BBQ every week. Bon Appétit!

It swings from Vietnamese small plates to a straightforward steak, and the range never settles into a point of view -- it reads less like a confident eclectic kitchen than a grab bag. The fried red snapper was the standout: crisp, well-cooked, good enough to stand on its own. It came with a fish sauce for dipping that it didn't need -- a wedge of lemon on the side would have suited it far better. The Vietnamese crab cake was a real miss; I couldn't get past it. The dumplings were fine but forgettable. Service ran to extremes. Our server was warm and eager, almost too eager -- he pushed a bottle of wine we weren't sold on, and we ordered it anyway. Then, after all that attentiveness, he disappeared toward the end of the meal and never came back. The wine list was fine, nothing memorable.
