    Pecan Pie! Delicious
    Joel C.

I had heard about this place before, and never got around to trying it. If you are in the same boat, stop wasting time and eat here as soon as possible. The service was great and they were attentive and welcoming. The restaurant was comfy and had a good high scale vibe while not being too full of itself. Now the food.... The food was amazing. The burger that I had is probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. Every dish we had here would belong on my personal top five list of those dishes. The fries were awesome. The goat cheese appetizer was a knock out. Me and my wife enjoyed everything. So once again, if you haven't made the trip here yet.... Get on it.

I absolutely loved this place! The ambience is so nice and the service was excellent. I absolutely loved the ahi sushi tuna pizza. It was such a unique option and it was so fresh! The bread pudding was also delicious. I would love to come back again and try a steak, which is, another huge thing this place is known for the price is a little steep for the steak, so I would limit getting a steak unless I am eating there for a special occasion. Their hamburger is amazing as well and they have a really great happy hour! I also loved the martini. When I am back in the area, I will definitely be coming here again in the future.

This was my second time here and I forgot how good this place is. We ordered oysters and drinks for appetizers. The cocktails were delicious and well made. I ordered the fried chicken and my husband ordered the steak pastry dish. The chicken was enough for two people! It was crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside with great flavors. Our server was absolutely fantastic, I love this place and will be back soon

We had the lobster toast and baked oysters to start. The Oysters were pretty good but I wouldn't order them again. The lobster toast was excellent. We had a steak board with beef rib, ribeye, and filet. The beef rib was by far the best meat on the board. The ribeye was good but the filet was a bit tough. The sauces that accompanied the meat were hit and miss. They could definitely improve these. We had the truffle fries and creamed corn sides and these were delicious. Our waiter, Francisco was very nice and the service was good. Overall, it was a great experience. We will go back for the beef rib and to try some other dishes.

Absolutely yummy! Amazing experience too! Everyone made me feel so warm and welcomed ! I really enjoyed coming here . The drinks were good and great price for happy hour . The food was amazing. I would recommend this place but bring a jacket it's a little cold!

WOW. We came here for the restaurant week menu, and when I say this is our new favorite, I mean it. I can't talk enough about the service, ambiance, and food. It's been a while where I've had a 3 course meal where every course I almost cried when I finished. Don't get me started on the kimchi mash. The burger, bread pudding, fried chicken and goat cheese appetizer were to die for. Chef Austin and team really know what they're doing. Come here. You will not regret it.

Why 5 stars? Because this is a solid choice for a special occasion. --- --- --- I was trying to narrow down where exactly I should have my birthday dinner this year, and while I almost went with a place in Houston, I figured it would be easier to hop over to the Woodlands on a Tuesday night. Shortly after booking my reservation, I saw that Joe Rogan posted on Instagram that he had one of the best meals of his life here, which definitely had me feeling like I made the right choice. Ultimately, when you spend over $300 on a meal for two people, it's always going to hurt a little bit. My wife and I both felt like everything ranged from good-to-great: strong enough for a 5-star review, IMO! But it was probably not my favorite, or even second favorite high-end meal I've had since moving back to the Houston area. Breaking it down item-by-item: Brown Butter Old Fashioned: I am not going to give a rating on this one because I am not really an Old Fashioned drinker, which makes it a bit unfair. I let the server recommend the most popular drink, and he made it sound pretty appealing, but I will probably never love bourbon. It was fine, but not something I'd need to order again. Korean Butter Poached Crab: 5-stars. When our server came by to ask what we thought, I said: "This is like food science." There are so many flavors going on within this dish and all of them are good. Be aware: this is a pretty small plate, but it's delicious. Brussels Sprouts: 5-stars. How God intended Brussels Sprouts to be eaten. Lobster Risotto: 3-stars, with a caveat. I did not like the citrus flavor here, which kind of ruined the dish for me. My wife, however, loved it and said that this was her favorite thing we ate. Wagyu Strip: 4-stars. It was very enjoyable. But at over $100, I did not feel it was worth the price point. The sauces that accompanied it were good, but a really high end steak shouldn't need sauce to dress it up. On the note of the sauces, I did not love the chimichurri at all, despite that usually being one of my favorites. Bread Pudding: 5-stars. A few days earlier, we were at a sports bar and ordered bread pudding. Every person at the table hated it. Fast forward to TRIS, and it was like the ultimate palette cleansing experience. THIS is bread pudding and it is glorious. We had great service and I am annoyed at myself for forgetting his name. The room we were in did not have an empty table in it all night -- a great sign for a place on a Tuesday night that is certainly not a cheap night out. Thanks for making the last birthday of my youth an enjoyable one, TRIS!

We went to Tris on my birthday and we had a mixed experience. Firstly, I was a little underwhelmed by the ambience. We did not have an intimate dining experience. At that price point, we were expecting much better but the place was so tight that all the tables were smushed together. We were at a table for two and we had about three or so tables on both our sides and we asked to be moved, which we were close to the kitchen. Secondly, we noticed that there were some (tables or just booths that I don't remember now) that had "happy birthday" cards on them. I asked me fiance if they didn't know it was my birthday, and he told me at the time of booking he had specified that. Now, I don't need that validation but what irked me was why didn't I receive the same treatment that others did? At that, I asked my server why didn't our table make the cut, and he said the front desk made a mistake. He brought some rose petals but of course, at that point, it just seemed so half-assed, and so I told him it won't be necessary. And, our server was excellent by the way, it wasn't his fault at all. We ordered calamari and ahi tuna for appetizers, both of which were excellent. For our main course, we ordered one of the recommended wagyu steaks as recommended by our server with a side of brussel sprouts. Honestly, the wagyu was not at all different from filet mignons that we've had. There was absolutely no marbling. We went to Perry's just three days later and we had a really great wagyu steak which made our experience at Tris just a little bit more sour. Last, we ordered chocolate cake and blueberry pie for desserts and we were surprised with a "happy anniversary" sign hahaha. Our server was confused but it was hilarious. The desserts were delicious though. I don't think the blueberry pie was on the menu, but if you get a chance, please check! One of my favorite desserts ever! So, the positives would be free champagne to toast for my birthday and they actually comped my dessert and one of the appetizers, if I'm not mistaken. All in all, definitely not worth the price point. Also, on our way to the parking lot, we ran into a gentleman who was quite inebriated. He said how great the restaurant is and what not. He could barely stand, and he got in the car. I don't know if it's the restaurant's responsibility to not to serve an already drunk person, but he seemed like he had been drunk a few drinks ago. In my previous life, I worked at a grocery store, where we were told to not to sell alcohol to someone who's already drunk so.

Came to Tris for a rehearsal dinner ( never heard of the place ) but it looked promising. The venue itself was very nice but not ostentatious. We had the meeting space downstairs which was a bit generic but gets the job done . The service was excellent and only exceeded by the delightful food . Literally every dish they brought out was stellar including my steak cooked to perfection and seasoned to a T ( best steak of 2024 for me ). Sides and apps were on point and it was certainly the highlight of my visit to the area . Well done !!

Korean fried chicken--though I forget its exact name.

I treated my wife to an anniversary dinner here and alas, I'd find myself saying what I say when a dear friend (or even an extraordinary acquaintance) passes. If only I'd known that was the end...if only I'd known that was the last time I'd see my friend, I would have made so much more time. Several weeks ago The Woodlands was stunned when its most famous, heralded, celebrated (and admittedly priciest) restaurant shuttered forever. While announcing the news abruptly on social media on January 2! Talk about a New Year's resolution by local culinary titan (and Le Cordon Bleu-trained Austin Simmons! Yo Austin, can you give us a little more of a head's up next time? :) So thankful I got to take my honey to this lost gem. My order of The Big Rib was everything I could have wanted. A Wagyu beef rib cut into medallions beside the bone? A great bowl of lobster bisque? And the assistance of our great waiter. I forget his name--hailing from El Salvador. I take heart that many of its great kitchen staff moved to the café and wine shop, The Kitchen, on Research Forest in The Woodlands. I'll be stopping by again! I will say my one wish for TRIS besides it enjoying a longer lifespan, was that its price point was notably lower. A bowl of soup for $32? My order of one of the specialties, the Big Rib, clocking in at over $150? It was so worth it--and Austin Simmons and his line really were that gifted--but sans a Michelin Star or a Michelin Plate, many prospective diners would grumble at those prices. I know I'll see Chef Simmons resurface soon in another unforgettable venue. Perhaps it will be in downtown H-Town--or in the city sharing his name!

My husband and I went during happy hour before a concert and it was the perfect choice. We arrived at 5:15pm on a Thursday and probably didn't need the reservation we made. We would've been happy sitting at the bar, but there wasn't an empty chair. The ambiance was nice! We didn't know what to expect since it was our first time here. We got the HH hummus, burger, spicy Paloma, and house red wine. The hummus plate comes with perfectly cooked naan and cucumbers, which are how we prefer them! The burger has an English muffin that looked hard on arrival, but was actually very soft and well cooked. The burger itself was smashed style and yummy! My favorite part was the truffle fries- so crispy and flavorful. My husband really enjoyed his spicy Paloma and said it's the best Paloma he's had in a while. Our server was very attentive and kept checking in on us. We got the chocolate cake to-go before heading out. The cake itself was probably the only thing I didn't love- it was almost like a savory chocolate cake to us. The frosting was a whipped salted caramel and it was very salty. Not my favorite, but absolutely loved everything else. We will be coming back!

    The BIG Rib

Took some out of town friends who were visiting for an extraordinary dining experience at Tris. The BIG rib is a mainstay entree on the menu, but I order it as shared appetizer for the table......always a big hit! The Sushi Pizza is one of Chef Austin's newer creations and I refuse to share it!

Burger with truffle fries, Brussels sprouts
    Cassandra S.

After seeing so many Facebook post raves about Tris, specifically about the burger, I finally decided to give it a try during happy hour one Saturday evening. Happy hour is first come first served, so I was thankful to grab a table for two inside at 6 PM. Our table was a tiny one in a corner, so it was hard to get a feel for the restaurant. The service was decent. Nothing remarkable. The prices are great to an extent. $10 for a burger and fries is great, but an additional $6 for truffle fries is a little crazy. The actual taste of the burger is good but compared to other burger places, such as Burger Chan, it is nothing to write home about. The Brussels sprouts were the star of the show for us. They were a little strong flavored but tolerable. If I were to come back, it would only be for the Brussels sprouts or a cheap burger (with plain fries).

Can solo diners eat at the bar and have the option to order from the full menu (not just the happy hour menu)?

    Yes

Is the Steak board available on the menu or do you have to ask for it? Looked for it on the menu online and did not see it. TIA

Hi, Justin! Our steak board is available upon request. It varies and can be customized so it's best to ask your server about it when you come in. Thanks!

Are they allergy friendly, specifically with a wheat and soy allergy?

Yes. We took my kid there for his birthday and they did everything they could to accommodate. No issues providing gluten and soy free. He’s been back many times since.

Do you serve a kids menu?

Specific Kids menu, to my knowledge, no. Depending upon the age and palate of the kid and your balance sheet, I would not take a child. Teenager, ok..... kid, no. It's an adult venue.

I made a reservation online and I should've taken photos and didn't, whomp. Pros: the manager, the vibes are very speakeasy, down to the staff's dress code, which was awesome! The bathrooms are clean and have music - which should be mandatory in my opinion! The presentation of food and quickness it came out was also a pro! The location is also prime & the decor is awesome. The cons: food itself was not as flavorful as it looked, we just weren't impressed. The best thing was the dessert, banana pudding, and the street corn casserole. We also had Tuscan chicken pasta, fish tacos, the cheeseburger, and chicken Tikka masala. It was ok. It was also very warm inside the restaurant, most people were fanning themselves. It's a tight fit and stays busy. We made a reservation and still had to wait in the tiny waiting area for approximately 15 minutes. It was my daughter's birthday (in the reservation) and they didn't do the fun sparkler. I brought this to their attention and they offered, but it was kind of too late at this point. The manager DID take it seriously and we appreciated it. they offered to do it, but we already had our dessert, it was just a bit of a disappointment. My husband also ordered a drink that was supposed to have fire tableside and it didn't, our waiter was average. It's a tight fit inside so don't expect privacy. Overall, we probably wouldn't go back.
