This is THAT burger... the one that isn't fancy shmancy, is served wrapped (because it will get messy when you take a bite,) yet is absolutely delicious. The great: probably one of my biggest pet peeves with burgers is the bun to meat ratio. Langford's nails this. The bread is just enough to keep your fingers clean. I also love that it's not a sweet bun. Also amazing are the tater tots! Perfectly crispy! I'm surprised at how many places get the tots wrong. This place knows how to make perfect tots. Opportunities: I did find that my meat could have been better seasoned, and the fries were not as gloriously crispy as the tots... not even close. The service was fabulous. Very friendly yet professional, prompt (we were on our lunch break, so this was very much appreciated) and attentive. The atmosphere is consistent with the "divey feel" of the original location, but it's brand new and sparkling clean, which is an A+ for me. Please revamp the recipe for the Fish Sandwich. No harm intended, however it was by far the worst fish sandwich I've ever had. I didn't get a picture of it but the batter looked weird and it was definitely overcooked... We visited this establishment twice in 2 weeks. The first time was on a Friday night and we were seated outside. The service was decent and the food was good enough for us to give it another try. We ordered a bacon cheese burger, Mac n cheese, rustic fries and chili dog. The chili dog was sweet which took some time for me to adjust to it, but it wasn't too bad. The rustic fries and burger were good as well, except the burger had a bit too much black pepper. The second visit was on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated at the patio bar and the 2 male bartenders were amazing! They both get 5 stars for being friendly, attentive, and engaging. Thanks guys!... Now, my food was not the best, as I stated above, the fish sandwich was not good at all. No matter how much ketchup I added, it was just poor quality and in my opinion it needs to be removed from the menu until perfected. Came here for a pre-concert dinner! This place is what comes to mind when you think of an American bar and grill. They had table games which is fun for the whole family. Great drink options. Sigh. I really like the original location and thought this was a great addition to the woodlands. Until I actually went. First the location is great. Right on the waterway. And you can sit outside on their patio. Second their burgers are still awesome. Got the solider and the kids cheeseburger and both were tasty. But that's where the praise ends. Waitress seemed disinterested and we always had to flag her down if we wanted something. The chocolate chip milkshake is a scam. The first one we got was just a vanilla shake with a cookie broken in half on the top. No cookie crumbs as mentioned in the description. I mentioned this to the hostess as she walked by and they made us another one. The second one had the cookie in one piece on top and not broken in half like the previous one. Chocolate syrup throughout making it look like a chocolate shake. And a ton of mini chocolate chips on the bottom of the glass. But again no chocolate chip cookie crumbs anywhere as the description says. Sigh. My other gripe is the billing. There's a surcharge for credit cards. And that's not posted anywhere on the menu or in the store. Even the online receipt I got by text after paying doesn't indicate anywhere what the surcharge is. It just says "non-cash total" which I noticed doesn't add up to the subtotal plus tax. So that's when I got suspicious. I asked our waitress and she said yeah there's a surcharge but it's not much and left. Well it's actually 4.33% which is higher than other places because credit cards only charge 3% to store owners. Upon leaving I decided to ask the hostess if there's a surcharge and she said yes. I told her it's not printed anywhere and she said she's waiting for the stickers to come in to put them on the hostess counter. Not a great location for the notice because who really looks at the hostess counter for that kind of stuff. She then said the notice is on the paper receipt. Problem is the waitress doesn't give you a paper receipt. In fact they all wear smart devices on their wrists and when it's time for you to pay, they just put the device in your face and it only says the total price with their suggested gratuity. No disclosure of surcharges. No disclosure of line items. Even the line item receipt after paying doesn't disclosure. It just shows an inflated total. I told the hostess all of this and she just replied that they're a small business and can't afford to bear the credit card fee. Again, not the issue. It's about disclosure that we as customers will get hit with a 4.33% add on to use a card. I actually had cash. I told her this and she just said oh well. For that alone we won't be back. read more

We were looking for something to eat near home and remembered this place recently opened. My husband is familiar with other locations and wanted to try. Although it was busy we were seated right away. It was great to see the owner there working. The food was pretty good all came out hot which is a big deal. We had the fried pickles as an appetizer and they were hot and crispy. My husband had a burger and I had the chopped steak. I'm not a fan of mashed potatoes but I got them as my side and they didn't disappoint. They were made with real potatoes, not flakes and were delicious. I also had the string beans they were good but I feel like there were too many onions. The chopped steak was well seasoned and equally as good. I would definitely visit again. read more

Lankford's was said to have been a huge staple in the community for many years down on Dennis St. in Houston. When the news broke of them opening a location in the woodlands, I was told that I should most definitely try them out. Let's just say, they lived up to the hype! Lankford's at the time of this review is not officially opened but they are doing a soft opening for those that just so happen to stop by and see if they are open. Just go! Parking: Everyone knows about parking on the waterway. There are garages available and if you're lucky, street parking available. It is unknown if Lankford's will comp parking (we found street parking, so not a question I remembered to ask) Upon entering we were greeted with smiles and welcomes. We of course were seated promptly because again not many people know yet. We were able to receive a thorough explanation of the beer wall! Yes! They have a beer wall. This is absolutely a great idea. We all know bartenders, waiters, waitresses get tied up and can sometimes there can be a wait for another order of beer. Not here! Tap the card, and pour your serving. Mr. Paul also stated this option is available with the beer flight. The added bonus, it's local beer. Great idea! We will be back to enjoy this wall again. We ordered the chicken cracklins, a patty melt, fried chicken sandwich, and the red, white, and blue burger. Along with regular fries, onion rings, and curly fries. The chicken cracklins were some of the best chicken cracklins we have had. Highly recommend! I also, had the strawberry lemon drop! Yes. Strawberry. Lemon. Drop. Just get it! All in all, from the service to the food, we enjoyed our first dose of Lankford's and cannot wait to go back. read more

If you follow my reviews I'm normally an optimistic reviewer. Very rarely give two stars, and it has to be a disaster for one star. But I was so disappointed in our trip to the new Lankford's in the Woodlands that I couldn't budge above 2 stars. Maybe it was the jitters of a relatively new restaurant getting its footing, but since the are the sister to a Houston iconic restaurant I wanted much more. I've been to Lankford's Grocery in town, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Lankford's in the Woodlands had very few redeeming qualities. We came on a Friday afternoon, but after the lunch rush, around 1:30 or so. I think its difficult to recreate the ambiance of an old established restaurant there on the waterway, but it just didn't feel inviting. We ordered Fried Green Tomatoes, A Grim Burger (what I had ordered at the original location) and a Pimento Cheese Burger. I would say that the Grim Burger was OK. Only a little overcooked, but pretty flavorful. My wife's Pimento burger was a big disappointment. If you look at the picture of the Pimento Burger on the website, it is covered with Melty Pimento cheese. We could barely find the cheese on this burger, and her patty was hammered. We had to ask for some more pimento cheese, and after about 5 minutes it made it to the table, but the cold pimento cheese did not melt on the no longer hot burger. Just not good. Neither of us were fans of the fries. Granted, I don't remember the fries from my visit to the original location, but if you want greasy limp french fries, Lankford's in the Woodlands is your place. Not appetizing at all. The Fried Green tomatoes were fine and the sauce was tasty. I think we spent around $80 for the food and a couple of cocktails. I'm not very sure that that experience will cause me to give Lankford's a second chance or not. I wish them luck, as the Woodland's needs to attract new restaurants, but I'm worried if others had similar experiences. read more

I visited this location since I was craving a burger, I was in the area, and they happen to recently open for business. Last time I walked down this street, the spot was a taco place. There is tons of outdoor seating which they kept from the previous business, along with most of the indoor features such as the semi-circular bar. This spot overlooks Waterway Square and is a very good spot to have a restaurant. I ended up sitting at the bar. I looked over the menu and found many of the usual items seen at their original location. This one also has a lot of milkshakes and a happy hour (ends at 6) with bites and drinks on sale. There are beers, which you will see on tap as you walk inside. They also have a full bar. With that, there are several cocktails to choose from, and are decently priced from $11-15. Four different frozen drinks are priced at $9 /each. There is no shortage of specialty burgers (18 currently) and even though the prices seem high, they do come with hand-cut fries. There are 6 different patty options, including one you don't see often: crusted tilapia. As far as sides, chicken cracklins, wings, and brisket fries are the more interesting ones. Hard to notice, but they also have a small menu of 4 different bowls for $11. These are designed to be another way to eat your comfort food. I ended up choosing a Frito pie burger since I'd never had that one before at Lankford's. It doesn't come with lettuce or tomato, which I prefer to have on my burgers, but it really hit the spot. Add to that the hand cut fries, and that made for a delicious after work meal. Next visit, I will try to make it before 6pm so I can take advantage of their happy hour. read more

As I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a bubbly young lady who assisted to me to sit in the bar area. The bartender Kailey promptly served me and answered a few questions about the menu with recommendations. The two bartenders were both experienced, pleasant and accommodating while waiting for the burger. Outside seating was busy while indoors was a little slow. The bacon Cheeseburger was very big and good. Frys were fried in beef tallow and not overly salty. Lots of options on the menu and will certainly be back to try another burger. read more

Went for Father's Day. Complete disaster. Took over an hour to get 4 burgers and it wasn't even super crowded. Table next to us left while waiting for food to come out. When we finally got food, two of us had finished eating before the last burger finally came out and we had to go ask for it! Our server disappeared after the first 45 minutes and we never saw him again. Asked for drink refills that we never got and finally got the bill after having to get up yet again and walk to find someone to bring it. No offer to comp any portion of the +$100 bill for 4 burgers and sodas (again with no refill after asking). We will never go back and you'd be wise to spare yourself from making the same mistake. read more

We had the South of the Border Burger w/fries and Brisket Fries. Both were very good and hot when served! Our waitress was polite and attentive, checking in us periodically during our meal. The inside was pleasant with clean tables and Christian music that wasn't too loud, so we were able to have a nice conversation and enjoy the music at the same time. It was quite windy so we ate inside even though we usually dine outside. We've eaten at this location when it was 3 other restaurants. I hope Lankford's makes it. We will be back! Our group was out looking for a late-night bite and ended up at Lankford's on the Waterway and we're really glad we did. We met Nick and RJ, and they were both awesome and fun to talk to. It was pretty late and the main grills were already shut down, so we were a little indecisive. We asked Nick to just make us something he thought we should try... and he went above and beyond, re-fired the grill and brought out cheeseburgers, fries, and a couple chili dogs for us to share. Everything was AMAZING! RJ was top notch as well, and we really enjoyed talking with both of them. It wasn't just great food... it was the kind of experience you don't forget. I have had the best experience at Lankford's. I work in same building above them. The food has consistently been great, and you can tell they take pride in what they serve. The burgers are some of the best around, and I've always found the staff to be friendly and quick to make things right if anything is off. Every restaurant can have an occasional miss, especially during busy times, but what matters is how they respond--and these guys care. It's a locally owned spot, and you can feel that in the atmosphere and service. Definitely worth giving them a shot (or another shot). I'll be back. The food was great, but unfortunately the service was disappointing with several frustrating moments throughout the evening. We went on a Saturday for dinner, and while it was busy, it didn't seem unusually crowded. After being seated, it took quite a while before anyone acknowledged us. I understand delays happen when it's busy, but the service continued to decline from there. We ordered appetizers, which were great, but while we were still eating them, our plates were cleared away without anyone asking if we were finished. We didn't even realize they had taken our half-eaten appetizers until they were gone. I ordered onion rings instead of fries, but received fries instead. I mentioned the mistake, but it was forgotten until my husband brought it up again later. By the time the onion rings arrived, it was right before we got the check. We also had to ask for drink refills even though our cups were clearly empty, and the music was so loud that I could barely have a conversation with my husband sitting next to me. I was very excited one opened in The Woodlands because I've always enjoyed going to the original downtown location. One side of my sandwich had skinny broken pieces of a slice of bacon, the other side of my sandwich had no bacon at all. I had an amazing experience when this place first opened and was so excited to bring my mom back. This visit was the complete opposite. Despite only 3-4 tables and 4-5 servers plus the owner on the floor, we waited a long time for our food. A table seated after us got theirs first, which is what made us finally ask if our order had even been placed. When the food came out, it was wrong. We ordered a cheeseburger and a Firehouse burger with curly fries. After sorting out the wrong fries, I realized the burger was also wrong. They replaced it, but it came out missing the habanero mustard. When I pointed that out, the server asked if I had "checked right," which I did not appreciate. I had to pull up the menu to prove my own order. By the time everything was sorted out, I had to rush through my food and didn't enjoy it at all. The first time I ordered this burger it was very good with flavor and had a great spicy kick. This time it tasted so basic, all I could really get was jalapeño despite the full list of toppings it's supposed to have. Not worth $16+ at all. Servers were nice but didn't really resolved much other than just bringing the corrected order. The server apologized and said she would talk to the owner, and we watched that happen, but he did absolutely nothing. Just stared at us and couldn't even come over to apologize. It's not like the place was packed and he didn't have time. Between the wait, the repeated mistakes, and the disappointing food, I left really let down. Probably won't be back. My wife and I went to Lankfords for the first AND the last time. The fried pickles were frozen not home made and tasted freezer burnt. The burgers came back raw in the middle. We had the waitress take them back and the OWNER came back out with our food and proceeded to tell us the meat was cooked. I think I can tell raw bloody meat when I see it but the owner insisted we were wrong and tried to convince us the meat was cooked. "Im sorry sir, I'll get you new plates" is all he needed to say, but he would rather argue instead of making it right. He ad the nerve to tell me the meat was cooked, I was seeing the reflection of "red" off of the red umbrella we were sitting under. I literally had to stick my fingers in the burger that created a pool of blood at the bottom of the plate. He had the nerve to tell me I was looking at bar b que sauce. I could see this behavior from another waiter, manager, cook or something...but from the OWNER! I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO INSULTED IN ALL MY LIFE. HE NEEDS A CUSTOMER SERVICE CLASS.
