Let me start by saying: BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! My girlfriend and I visited Troop for Brunch on a Saturday with a friend. We were seated immediately and the server brought us water right when we sat down. The service at Troop is amazing. They have a wonderful and friendly wait staff that is very knowledgeable of the menu. My girlfriend had French toast with a side of chicken. The French toast was cooked to perfection. It favors a southern peach cobbler, so if you order it, I hope you're in the mood for brunch and dessert. I ordered "That Chicken Biscuit" and substituted home fries for regular fries. The biscuit was nice and soft. The sauce accompanying the biscuit took it and the chicken to another level. I'd highly recommend it. We all ordered bottomless mimosas for $20/person. I had the mango mimosa and my girlfriend ordered the pineapple one. She switched to mango after trying mine. It was superb. I love troop. Yes. They lost the guy who made the vegan bahn mi. No. My life has not been the same since. Yes. I still go whenever I can BECAUSE the REST of the food also happens to be amazing. Service is always friendly, but they do get busy, so be patient b1tch! The ambiance is the best in Providence. Inside there is almost too much too look at (don't forget to wash your hands) and outside they've made a lovely little scene across from a fascinating loft (that also houses a cool coffee shop and bar if you need something after dinner). Honestly I had the best time at Troop when visiting family in RI. I went with my mom there for brunch, and we both loved it. You can tell the place gets lit when the sun goes down but it was nice to see it on a chiller vine in the day for brunch, my older mom was more a fan of that ambiance lol. The space is pretty good and designed with eclectic black pride. Everyone had there own space, there's plenty of space. Our service was great, the waiter was attentive and friendly, always checking in on us. And lastly the food was the best part! You will not be disappointed at all in the portion or the flavor. The ambiance is nice and unique and very colorful. The waiters are kind. The food is overpriced and very underwhelming. I ordered the braised beef sandwich and it was disgusting, un-eatable. I also ordered the short rib, the sauce was very strong, only came with 5 small cubes of meat and no side so I had to order French fries that were a bit oily. Trendy and Unique Hipsters paradise here, but not irritating. The staff was very friendly and they are really mixing up some quality cocktails. It's a new age atmosphere with some great tunes playing while you drink and eat. Now the food, it's a very small simple menu. I had the street noodles, they were spicy and seasoned well. I got them with pork belly. It was delicious. My friend had the same and he said it was too spicy for him so beware. The place has a nice open kitchen in the back end of the restaurant so you can see what's going on. What a great new find in Providence! For starters, the décor is urban-chic, funky, and colorful. They definitely nailed the whole '90s throwback aesthetic with their giant spray-painted murals, skateboard barstools, and old school hip hop. Service is really laid back but also attentive and friendly. A "Seat Yourself" sign greets you when you walk in the door. As I waited for my date, I relaxed on one of their cozy seating arrangements and perused the drink menu. I ended up ordering a delicious mescal drink with blackberry. My date ordered the Pineapple Upside Down Old Fashioned, which I also had a sip of. Both cocktails were really yummy and different. The vibe at Troop is super chill. When we finished our first cocktail, we sat ourselves at a table to order our meal. We split the squid which was fantastic. The head of the squid was nicely charred whereas the tentacles were fried. It was served over an Israeli cous cous that was delicious and came with the most flavorful roasted tomatoes. A lot of great flavors and textures in that dish. I then ordered the street noodles after hearing great things and they didn't disappoint. They're really light and tasty and the fried chicken I ordered as an add-on was moist and tender. I also had a few of my date's yucca fries (which came with his hanger steak) which were really great but I thought could have benefitted from some type of dipping sauce or aioli. Sat outside after answering some COVID screening questions. The staff wore masks and provided hand sanitizer. Ok I'm not a burger fanatic. But everyone needs to run to Troop now and get this burger special: burger + chili + jalapeños + cheddar biscuit. As soon as the waiter said it I went for it, and so glad I did. Troop is really cool. There is ample parking in the rear, and you walk into graffiti, Tupac, skateboards, and the coolest of all, Doug from Nickelodeon on the tube. Where can you possibly find that combo? There is an overarching hip hop theme here and they nailed it. The menu, however, is quite small. Nothing really catches your eye at first, but after ordering the noodles and chicken nuggets we were blown away by how sophisticated and tasty the dishes were. The noodle bowl reminded me of a $40 Singapore noodle in a high end Asian fusion spot, and the chicken nuggets were all white meat and juicy. It's everything you've heard about and then some. Super funky and eclectic decor that's so much fun. In the space that used to be Bocado, the space has been transformed into a distant memory of my almost forgotten drunken college years. 90's hip hop and R&B can heard blasting throughout the restaurant. And trust me I tried so hard, but the head bop just couldn't stop. Super relaxed atmosphere and service to match. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. We ordered the yucca fries, street noodles and short ribs. The fries were def something different with just enough salt, the dipping sauce sold me. I did pull out an icky ginormous root in one of my fries that looked like something out of a horror movie but it didn't stop me from eating more. My noodles were good but not out of this world. My friend loved loved her Korean shirt ribs - she couldn't stop raving around them. Place is definitely worth a visit - if not for anything else but the visual appeal. We came here for good vibes but also was still serving food late which was nice. The food though was just okay and the options didn't really blow me away. It looks like maybe it's better for brunch food. The portions though were a very generous size but, I wouldn't recommend going there for the food. The music was great and our server was great as well. I had gotten a passion fruit and vodka which was tasty. The outdoor area is cute as well. We both got burgers-him the troop and I got the special-and they were fantastic and the staff absolutely wonderful. I have to say it's pricey for 2 burgers with fries and I drank water hubby one bud light $68.00 so it's not somewhere I'd go back to. I had read the reviews and heard the buzz around town about this place and finally had a chance to come by tonight to check it out. It took a few minutes for us to warm up to the place, there's so much to look and so many amazing details to take in, that it's difficult to figure out where to start. We sat ourselves in the center of the room and were immediately drawn to the 90's movies being shown on the TVs behind the bar and loved the awesome 90's music too (my favorite!) Some other fun details we were excited to see were the disco ball, the boom boxes, unique lighting, skater swag, and hand drawn murals proudly displayed throughout the space. In fact, each time we looked around, we noticed a new detail. The menu is very small but powerful and we immediately found things that we had to try. To drink we both decided on the pineapple upside down old fashioned (delicious!) then we shared the eggplant four ways (incredible!) and we ordered the short rib with crispy noodle and the street noodles for our main dishes. We shared everything and we practically licked our plates clean because every bite was on point. We certainly look forward to returning and trying more amazing food. read more

Prime example being $12.00 for a add-on to a $13.00 noodle dish. A bit of intentional deception possibly? Speaking of deception. Cool spot in what looks like a warehouse district. They have their own parking lot which is nice. Everything here has a throwback 90's vibe... bunch of skateboard decor and great music. They have a large drink selection, but on this visit I didn't try any. The food is really good, we shared a bunch of plates. Short ribs, noodles, eggplant and some great falafel hummus. I've been to Troop for brunch and dinner at this point and have dined both indoors and outdoors. All of the waiters I've had were so sweet and had their own personalities to bring to the table. The waiters have a really good sense of the menu (both food and drink) which I really liked because I get ordering anxiety! Some food I'd recommend ordering: - Vegan Banh Mi - Pakoras (I'm Pakistani and these are pretty authentic tasting! Very close to what my mom makes at home. I almost cried.) - Street noodles (I get mine with shrimp and it's ACTUALLY flavored and spiced shrimp!) I am absolutely blown away. I randomly stumbled across this place on a drive through Rhode Island and thought "okay let's check it out". I had no idea that I would find my new favorite spot in PVD. The most important thing to me is a good cocktail list. Craft beer is cool and all, but if you can make a delicious gin drink and not just pour me a half-assed G&T, you are already a great place in my book. I think it took me approximately 28 minutes to decide on a cocktail here, much to my dining partner's dismay, but luckily we were waiting for the kitchen to switch over to dinner anyways. I finally settled on the 227 (see pictures) and subsequently chugged about 3 more of them. We each got Noodz (also my nickname for my dog, Noodle). From what I've heard, it is reminiscent of street food you can get in Asia. I've never been to Asia, but if this is what I can expect, book my flight please. The portions were HUGE and I actually was able to sustain myself on leftovers for my next 2 meals. The amount of heat was fantastic as well, complementing the flavors perfectly without ruining the meal for me. I went with the fried chicken, and am glad I did. The chicken was so tender and had the thinnest, yet crispiest, batter on it - I would be so daring as to call it some of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere is one of the best parts (third to the drinks and the food... so basically nothing here sucks?) It has an awesome tropical vibe with a "street" twist.
