i waited 20 minutes in the drive through line at the window for 2 smoothies. once i received the smoothies, i saw one was severely wrong. i ordered the blimey limey, and was given a mocha protein shake. i parked my car and went into the store, and waited another 20 minutes to have my smoothie fixed. while i was waiting, the drive through worker was being cussed out by a customer for getting her order wrong. the manager was asked to come to the window, and refused. she was not nice about the interaction, and was not talking nicely about the customer. she was also on a personal phone call the whole time. the staff barely talked to their customers, and a customer waited for 10 minutes at the kiosk to be spoken to. any time i have been to a tropical smoothie, they have taken 25+ minutes to make one smoothie. the employees are not nice, and it makes me not want to support their business anymore. read more

Have been twice this review is for Sunday March 24th. I used to live in CARY where there was a TSC down the street. This one is 11 miles away from my house. Food: I had a chicken Caesar Salad and a sunrise sunset smoothie with Splenda instead of turbinado. My meal was excellent. Fresh, good portion size, excellent presentation. Husband had the southwest chicken salad with a blueberry bliss. Food was excellent. This salad is a little on the spicy side. Great presentation, fresh and good portion size. Unfortunately I found out upon the visit the next day that the meals were supposed to be served with a bag of chips, which we were not offered. I did not realize until my second visit when I ordered a lunch with a smoothie and was offered chips. I did not say anything about the previous day. Service: excellent! At first we were a fan of this location, however, recently the service has become very slow. At our latest visit we pulled through the drive thru and no one spoke to us. We checked the hours to ensure they were open and then asked one of the employees who was outside taking the trash out if they were open. He said they were so we pulled around again. By that time another car was ahead of us and they were ready and taking that car's order. They then took our order but said they were only able to make smoothies and no food items. We ordered a few smoothies and then waited a long time for the car ahead of us to receive their smoothies. We then had to wait even longer for ours to be ready. I understand it takes a while to make smoothies but I am comparing this wait time to my previous visits and my visits to other Tropical Smoothie locations. Our first few visits to this location had reasonable wait times and now the wait time is way too long. Our order was accurate however my Detox Island Green smoothie separated right away and did not taste great. The other smoothies we ordered we good. Overall the employees are friendly and the smoothies are usually very good, however, the service has declined over the past few months. read more

Update: it has been nearly 2 years since my first review and it would seem things have only gotten worse. Went in today with my family. We orders 3 smoothies... 20 minutes later and still no smoothies. My husband asked the counter guy if he knew how much longer it would be since we were going to a movie. The counter guy asks the girls making smoothies "why are you guys going so slow" not exactly helpful. We waited a few more minutes then asked for a refund. This is by far the worst tropical smoothie I've ever been to. Slow is an understatement! In the drive thru line guaranteed the wait is 20mins, with two vehicles! I have extreme patience but this is every time! This place fails every single time I try to give them a different chance. I'm a regular now at Tropical Smoothie, and I always order the same drink - an Açaí Berry Boost with no sugar. Yet, many times they have forgotten to leave out the sugar. This frustrates me the most. Also, almost every time I go my smoothie tastes different. Some days it tastes better than others.!Their service is ok, usually friendly workers. But I've had to stand in the front waiting for my drink as I later realized it was melting on the counter. They're usually always busy. I once went where the wait was estimated to be 30 mins - 1 hour and the cars were circled around the whole strip of buildings. Overall a 3/5, I just wish they wouldn't get my order wrong. read more

This location has horrible service. I called in a DoorDash order, and when they got to me they handed me one smoothie instead of the two I had ordered. The driver was kind enough to go back to this location to get the missing smoothie when the employees said that there wasn't another one. I then sent two pictures of the receipt to the driver to show them, and they still would not make the smoothie after I had already paid for it. I used to think the service was not good at all. The old staff seemed to have attitudes and just not be pleasant. The staff now is great! Super kind and communicative. The service still takes a while considering I use the drive through, but the people make sure they let you know what's going on and they are always apologetic. I really like the product and I am a fan of the manager, but I'm afraid that today was my last visit. This location is convenient to where I work, but the wait times, the disorganization and today, the utter rudeness was the last straw. When the manager is there, there is a marked difference is the efficiency of the place. I've seen him quietly guide these kids on how to be efficient and responsive so I know he's a good manager. But, when he's not there, it's chaos. The last 3 times I was in there, I was forgotten. Three times in a row! So, I didn't go back for about a month. Went instead to Chik-Fil-A which is out of my way. Today was just the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm standing in line waiting to order and the girl handing out smoothies to customers steps in between me and the person in front of me to deliver a smoothie and never excused herself. Not only did she do this once but 3 times. I was ready for her the third time, I just left a big gap between me and the woman in front of me. To make matters worse, my smoothie wasn't even blended. I'm done. A lot of the people working there have great attitudes and are friendly and pleasant to interact with, and then there are those few that just make going in there a chore. It's just awkward. Guess I'll be eating salads from now on. I hope things get turned around soon at this location because I will miss my healthy lunchtime smoothie. If I had any suggestions for how to make it better, I would say start with a basic manners course for these kids. Beyond that, Idk what to offer. Maybe get some training from Chik-Fil-A. I go to Different Tropical Smoothie several times per week and have never provided a negative review until now. I just waited 15 min to have someone ask me what I ordered. On a Sunday with 6 employees and maybe 3 other people waiting. Then whenI received the smoothie, I couldn't drink it because it was too thick. And they didn't make it right. There's just about always a long wait and a grumpy or unfriendly employee. I wish this place was better, but every time I try again I regret it. The avocolada is incredible though, so I guess that's what draws me back. However even that is hit or miss - several times it's been very sour and grainy (not it's usually creamy sweetness) and when I asked about it they said they ran out of avocados so instead they used limes. The same thing happened to me when I had enough of waiting and seeing people who ordered after me get their food and smoothies.
