I was in the mood for a smoothie so I checked my Yelp app and this place was close by. What immediately struck me about this place was that every single employee looked unhappy. Let me first state that our past experiences here have been great. This particular experience was a 1star experience. After finishing a quick stop by Walmart, we discussed dinner options and recalled tropical smoothie was nearby. After attempting to download the app and order remotely, we decided to just walk in at 8:39pm as it would probably be just as quick. Upon entering we were not greeted except with a 'did you make an online order?" To which I said no we tried to order from the app, but it wasn't loading so we decided to come in. To which the employee stated very abruptly 'that's because we are about to close'. To which I said, 'your app doesn't work because you are about to close?" It felt very evident that this employee was not interested in taking our order and serving us and was merely focused on closing duties. Due to this response and the poor customer service we experienced within 30 seconds of entering, we turned around and left. Let me end, by stating that I understand the current societal situation is challenging, but a business that advertises open til 9pm, should be prepared, equipped, and hire employees willing to serve customers if they walk in at 8:59pm. I hope to return as I enjoy the food and smoothies offered at this establishment, but can't guarantee how soon our return will be. read more

I've been here a solid half dozen times at least now since it's right by my work. The smoothies always taste good and are huge. The store is clean and well kept. The employees are polite, read your order back, but generally don't seem happy to be there. There are only really a few things I don't like. 1) I don't like that all the smoothies have sugar or Splenda in them but the ingredients list never mentions that. I don't use sugar in my smoothies at home so I have to remember to ask them to leave it out, and I only remember about half the time. 2) The Thai Chicken Salad resembles exactly nothing that is actually Thai. I didn't know what was in it when I ordered the half salad and a smoothie but I was extremely disappointed in the salad. The lettuce mix was good and crunchy but that's about it. It was topped with shredded carrots and green onions and 3 strips of cold chicken. Oh, and don't forget the sesame seeds and weird little bits of fried wonton. Literally nothing with flavor. But what really got me was the "dressing" which came out of the container at the speed of molasses and had some vaguely Asian flavor to it. I'm sure I'm making too much out of this, but I really hate when American's take another cultures food and then ruin it with garbage. And this salad, is garbage. The employees are incredibly rude. I asked for 2 cups of water after we ordered and the water was brought out and then the employee demonstrably held up the tip jar high up in the air and made a rude joke to the other employees. The person that took our order was impatient and not friendly at all. The place was very clean and bright which is nice but the vibe of the service was not cool at all. To add icing on the whole experience they were banging dishes and pans around very loudly, there is no way stuff needed to be slammed around that much. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is for the quality of the product/smoothies. The customer service has gone so downhill that I can't even go anymore. No one is welcoming or happy to Have customers. They are put out by waiting on you and the girl's attitudes are ridiculous. They don't know what they are making and are wrong on the ingredients that are clearly listed on the menus. Do they not think that a person who gets the same few things know when it's not made correctly? I'm tired of lazy teenagers who only care about when their next text is combing waiting on me. Granted it's only a smoothie but I went from getting at least 3 a day to nothing for months. Went back today on Mother's Day and it was even worse. It took so long to make 3 smoothies with no one in the store I almost told them to forget it but I already paid Get a manager in there to train the staff in customer service and be accountable for her staff. The last time I addressed her she was very unconcerned. I'm not going to Have sassy disrespectful teens waiting on my family anymore ....So I'm going back to juicing at home. Thank goodness for tropical smoothie cafe! You can always count on speedy service, even during the busy lunch hours and the product is consistent. My past few visits I have chosen the "avocolada" which is an amazing take on a traditional green smoothie that tastes like a pina colada! As previous reviewers have said, the interior is kept extremely clean and the staff are always polite- they even bring your food around the counter. Overall a great addition to our area and definitely worth a visit. read more

I love this franchise in general and I eat at the Oberlin Rd Raleigh location often and I come to the Cary location as it's close to work. Every time I come to the Cary location they get my order wrong. Whether it's online order or pick up. I'm always the main ingredients of my food. I order the Baja Chicken bowl today for lunch and I got back to work and it was guacamole and pickled onions over a bed of lettuce with some cheese. That was it. Another time I order the buffalo chicken wrap and they forgot buffalo sauce. I don't understand how they can't make the food the way it's described on the menu. I'm in town from Greensboro for a wedding and decided to finally try tropical smoothie cafe From walking into the door and the great music, fun vibe from all the staff and great food I would recommend this location! The staff all seemed to get a long great, everyone was smiling and seemed so happy! Love it! I had the Cali Chicken Club and it was amazing! So glad I stopped here for lunch! I'm a big fan of Tropical Smoothie Café, and have patronized the stores all over the place. My wife and I were looking for a quick dinner, and we stopped in this store since we had been to other smoothie café's and always had good experiences. As we approached the store there was a man on the sidewalk holding bags and mumbling to himself, and we assumed he must be on drugs, and we just avoided him and went on into the restaurant. We placed our order and sat down at a table to wait on our food. As we were waiting this man came into the restaurant and started aggressively panhandling us. He loudly shouted about how he was a veteran, and African American, and how he needed a bus ticket to Raleigh. My wife and I were intimidated and a bit alarmed by his presence. We were also alarmed that the 8 employees behind the counter did nothing to usher this man away from us, the customers. Never before have I been panhandled inside a restaurant. We ultimately got the man to leave us alone and go away without any assistance from the employees. After the man left the restaurant, we asked to speak to the manager. All eight employees look at each other rather sheepishly, no one wanted to claim that they were the manager. Only one small girl looks to be about 17 years old stepped forward and claims she was the shift manager. Then another young woman stepped forward and says that she is the manager. Neither of these women wanted to take any responsibility for protecting customers from panhandlers in the store, even implying that we were racist for objecting. We were given the business card for the real manager who wasn't on site at the time. We gave her a call and she was equally dismissive and unsympathetic to our experience in the store. Never again will I patronize this restaurant. Oh and the food was pretty mediocre compared to other Tropical Smoothie Café's. read more

Let me say that I love tropical smoothie. Everything I have had from here from flatbreads to smoothies are delicious. BUT, as a morning destination place, right by Regency Park the morning service is too slow. My colleagues and I often get smoothies in the mornings, JUST smoothies but it takes a minimum of 15 minutes. For me, that is a problem. This morning for example, there were three people ahead of me their smoothies were already in the blender and yet it still took 15 minutes for me to get my smoothie. Again, I love Tropical Smoothie but I, along with my colleagues may be looking for a new pre-work destination. read more
