Visited the Tropical Smoothie Cafe for a quick lunch date. We both ordered the Beach Club Salad that also came with sides in which we chose chips. They brought our salads out and were very accommodating. The salads were fresh and tasty and had plenty of chicken making it the a filing lunch. A perfect bite for a quick lunch. I rarely feel compelled to write a review about any business. But after thinking about this one I'm just too bothered. I know better than to complain to the team members about their service. I'm always polite, no matter what. Momma didn't raise no Karen, and the team members don't deserve that. So I may as well make a public comment for the guests and staff to see. But honestly. What is wrong with this place? Why is the staff always so visibly pissed at each other and at the guests? Why can't they keep the place clean? Why are they on their phone or have headphones in in front of guests? Why do they make so many order mistakes? Not to mention: they don't properly clean dishes before reuse. I could not recommend this place to someone with a food allergy. I've been during the saturday afternoon rush. This place does not get overwhelmingly busy. There's plenty of staff for what they are doing and this place doesn't even have a drive-thru! (Geez, imagine!) As someone who's been in the restaurant industry for 8+ years, here's my two cents. Take it or leave it. Based on what I've seen, I'm willing to place some bets: 1. Staff hates it here. 2. Management isn't setting a high bar. 3. They aren't compensating for hard work. 4. They have high turnover. I've seen this sort of thing over and over. The solution is usually raise the bottom line. Offer a more competitive pay. You will hire better, more qualified workers. The ones that are already here will feel appreciated. You will gain better leaders who take ownership, and stay longer. This in turn may mean more satisfied guests, which will mean more guests in general. I for one will not be returning. Honestly its a shame. I hope this place gets better, but I won't be there to see it. read more
