The best Greek food in the bay served with a smile! They have a lot of vegan options and are happy to accommodate. I love the Falafels. They are flavorful, moist, and not too greasy. The garlic fries are so incredibly yummy. The lentil soup is also a favorite of mine. For starters the hummus is very creamy and flavorful. It includes the pita bread which is fluffy and yummy. I highly recommend their wraps, if your really hungry opt for the large. Be sure to smother everything in their spicy red and green sauces. They are so yummy!! They truly make the meal. read more

(No kid's menu) I asked our waitress if we could order a half order of French fries for our son. She asked the manager and he said no. I thought.....business is business. There is no Greek restaurant around my place. So today we drove to Martinez to try out TROY. They have many options from wraps to rice plate to Greek salad. They also offer appetizer and dessert. The service was good and our server was friendly. She always checked on us to make sure everything was ok. She also offered us 2 house sauce and they were both amazing (if you like hot sauce). We tried the Wraps and they were very good. Very authentic taste of Gryo. Sometimes downtown parking could be a problem but we were lucky to find nearby street parking for $0.50/30 mins. read more

Greek salad was OK, could not tell if all the lettuce was old or did the balsamic vinaigrette turn it brown? Wilted black edges on the lettuce served with the lamb. Bathrooms were gross and smelly. I've been a Troy fan since living in Berkeley. Food at this location is just as consistent and did not disappoint. We called in our order for pickup, food was ready in 10 mins. Ordered the gyro wrap and steak wrap, neither disappointed. Love their green and red hot sauces! Be sure to ask for some. We also ordered a baklava, which they put on the bottom of the brown paper bag in a clear plastic container that does NOT hold liquids well. They could have mentioned not to tilt the bag AT ALL. I decided to try this place after hearing so many great reviews about this place. My friends and I came here on a Friday, closer to the end of lunch hour rush. It was still pretty busy inside but we were seated right away. I decided to order the chicken souvlaki plate and we shared an order of the garlic fries. The food came out pretty quickly which was nice since we were all starving. The chicken was nicely flavored and tender. The rice seemed a little bland from other greek restaurants that I've been to. The garlic fries were fresh and had enough garlic in them as well. I think the next time I go, I will go with the gyro since I did not care for the rice. I've visited Troy several times over the past 4 years for food. As a (mostly) vegetarian, I judge a Mediterranean or Middle Eastern food restaurant mostly by its falafel and hummus. Their falafel is mediocre and doesn't taste quite as good as one would expect, so I don't eat much of it there. The hummus is good (smooth and creamy), which is why I kept coming back. However, they provide portions of food that are a bit smaller than I'd expect. I usually order the Meza platter and it doesn't fill me up completely (to be fair, I never eat the eggplant part). A few dolmas, some feta cubes, olives, falafel, and a little hummus and pita is a safe bet to order, although I'd argue that it definitely won't serve 2 if you plan to only eat that as your entree. My spouse usually gets the Greek salad with chicken, and likes it well enough. It's not the best Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food you'll find in the area, but pretty much has no competition (LA has TONS of Middle Eastern food, but alas, the Bay Area has very little), and so this restaurant does well. It's also a chain, so don't expect anything groundbreaking or extremely authentic, but sometimes I crave Greek/Middle Eastern food and there just aren't a lot of options. Some of the options seem a bit overpriced for the small portion size. Overall, this is average fare and does okay in a pinch if you're craving Mediterranean or Middle Eastern food. read more

We had a spontaneous dinner here when I has a craving for Greek food. Fried calamari was our starter-light breading, Greek spices and a tasty tomato based sauce. Good portion for sharing. I tried the small lamb souvlaki wrap and my partner tried the chicken souvlaki wrap(large), good portions, we each finished too stuffed for dessert! Downtown Martinez has had a reputation of being kind of quiet, especially after the County employees go home for the day. Another way to put it is when I have out-of-town guests (via work or home), Martinez is usually not the first dining choice, especially in the evening. Yet, when I least expect it, sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised. I've been to Troy twice, both times for lunch and choosing one of their wraps. The service was pleasant, the food was excellent, and the drinks (local beer the first time and lemonade the second) were refreshing. Gayle has taken her Son and his wife here separately and they had a similar good experience. Heck, on the strength of these outings, we might wander down here in the evening. read more

We had Meza platter- We subbed the dolma for tzatziki. Everything on the plate was excellent. We could have licked this plate clean. -Pastitsio- We each ordered this and had a difference in opinion. I loved it, I had never tried this dish before and loved the comfort food quality. I added a touch of the chili hot sauce provided. My MIL thought it was too bland. Lamb souvlaki- excellent. Do not go here. Ramsey, pretty much asked us to go take a hike when we told him the chicken soulvaki was too dry. My wife told the server right when the meal came in that it was dry. We did not have the time for a replacement so she decided to keep it. When we were about to leave we requested that they take a percentage off the bill and it was okay if they couldn't. Ramsey stormed in like he was about to start a fight. His response was, "after you are done eating?". We respectfully pointed out that we had told the server in the beginning. He then continued to say, "the manager is not here so we cannot take anything off the bill OKAY." He then walked off. After I called him rightfully racist. He proceeds to say gtfo of my restaurant. He then proceeds to say, "There is no chicken left in the salad.". I open up the box and make him count the chicken. What a POOR POOR experience. Do not GO HERE. I absolutely love Troy in downtown Martinez and always make it a point to stop here when shopping at the antique stores in the area. It's been over a year since I've had a chance to dine in since even with their outdoor patio open during Covid, I have chosen not to partake in outdoor dining at this time. It does look like they keep the diners 6 feet apart and as safe as can be, so if you're open to in person dining, it's certainly an option. Recently, however, I've done take out which has been an excellent experience. The food is ready quickly and packaged well to take home. My favorite remains their Greek salad, which I add falafel to. Their feta is awesome and the falafel is that perfect combo of crispy on the outside and warm inside texture. It's always well made. Their Greek fries are a well worth is splurge and my boyfriend says their chicken shawarma wrap is his favorite in the area. Can't wait to dine in person again. This was myself and my fiancé's second time back at Troys! When I brought legit Greek food and flavor, of the choices available with no limit to distance, my fiancé instantly blurted out TROY! for their gyros and hummus. Their gyros were jam packed with protein and equal amounts of filling, not too much veggie to meat ratio. There were literally a bite a meat with every mouthful. Equally as filling were the wraps, a large filled us up too. Their hummus is fresh and without too much EVOO to garnish, smooth, creamy, and absolutely delish with the warm pita pieces. Troy's staff are always warm and welcoming, very attentive and greets you at the door with a smile. They're quick to take your orders and are very patient for those who are more indecisive (me). Sometimes I wish the Gyros were cooked longer/well done - I like mine thin sliced and they tend to thick slice them. The flavor is still there - it's a texture thing for me. The cocktails are yummy as is the Greek salad. The pita bread is bomb and so is the soup!! Great addition to downtown Martinez! Nice to have a more diverse cuisine to choose from. We were able to be seated immediately and had an option of outside or inside. I ordered the small (7 inches) chicken shawarma wrap and split an order of fries. The small was plenty of food especially with the fries as a side. In the wrap, the tahini sauce was very good and they did not skimp out on the chicken. The fries were well cooked and tasted fresh. I was impressed when I first walked in: the customer service is professional and genuinely friendly and the atmosphere is open and warm. This was the first time my son had had dolmas and spanakopita and this was a great introduction. I had the chicken souvlaki, which was well seasoned and cooked perfectly, and the side salad was flavorful and fresh. Even though our server was slammed, she was quick, accommodating, and friendly. My only quibble is the acoustics: it's pretty hard to hear people unless you're on the deck. I have been here many times, before Covid. Yesterday will be my last visit. The service was friendly when our waitress bothered to show up. i had to hunt for her to get the check. She took our order, delivered the food and disappeared. She was at the bar eating a chocolate covered frozen banana instead of checking if we needed anything. I ordered a lamb dish. When it came, it was not lamb but shredded beef. The kuparna, moussaka and pastitsio were almost unbearably salty, obscuring any other flavors. Had lunch here with my sons yesterday. We ordered two gyro platters, a salmon platter, Greek fries, a falafel wrap, and baklava. All so, so, so delicious, we all agreed! The plates were served piping hot, especially the fries, and the portions were very generous. The pastry on the baklava were especially flaky & fresh. The service was courteous & attentive, well, maybe except for the host, who didn't greet my son, & just asked him how many in our party & merely pointed to a table, but I suppose everyone's entitled to a cranky day every so often. But the young lady & young gentleman who attended to our table were very nice & tended to us very quickly & cheerfully. The prices of the dishes were very reasonable & we agreed we will be returning.
