This is the best mediterranean restaurant in the city. HOWEVER today they were super busy and I ordered what I always order for my main - Falafel salad. I don't know what happened, but it was all romaine lettuce with no leafy gream, no cucumbers, radishes, three cherry tomatoes and 4 small cold falafels. I LOVE dip/spread samplers so this place got me excited for sure.. everything was sooo rich and flavorful, honestly one of the best Turkish restaurants I've been to in a while.. the kebab platters were delicious, and the sauces / spices they were served with made it exceptionally tasty.. It was my first time here . It was a bit hard to find a parking spot near the restaurant on a Wednesday around 4:30 pm . When I entered a young lady welcomed me . She was super nice . I love the interiors , a very clean restaurant with some Turkish decoration . There were not lots of options in their dinner menu but was ok . I ordered Muhammad's and Lamb skewers . Both dishes were great . Nicely decorated and very delicious. I loved it . The only thing I can say is that the portion for the main dish was so so small . If I haven't had the starter, I wouldn't feel good . And the restaurant was cold . Outside temperature was 58 and the they had the door open for the customer to walk-in. Maybe it's just me . I visited Troya for the first time recently, and thought it was really good! A friend and I ordered the Turkish Breakfast, which serves 2-3 people. The Turkish Breakfast essentially comes with three components - a platter of various breads, a Shakshuka with beef, and a large platter of various cheeses/toppings/spreads to put on top. Since I am a vegetarian, I focused on the bread and toppings portion of the meal and let my friend take the Shakshuka. I had fun trying all of the different spreads (my favorite was the honey and cheese spread) and matching them with the different breads. It was also fun being able to share the meal with someone else, and compare/contrast what we each liked best. We didn't end up finishing everything, so the staff provided some small containers to take home leftovers with. Although we left the restaurant very full (and with leftovers!) I would still recommend that only two people order this meal in order to ensure you get all the things you want. Alternatively, this could be a fun meal to split with more than two people if you are ordering additional sides. read more

It's been more than a decade since I last visited Troya although way back when it seemed like a good place to go. On entry this past Sunday, I found the venue to be light, airy, and beautifully appointed. Service was spot on and the restroom was spic and span. On to the food. Lentil soup was thick, tasty and served hot. And the four slices of pita that accompanied the soup were a nice addition. Roasted cauliflower came with scallions, grilled tzatziki & crispy mustard greens. A nice plate of subtly spiced food. For my main course I had baby rib lamb chops served with rosemary, roasted potatoes, and warm hummus. The lamb was lovely and brings me to my sole reservation regarding my meal. The serving apparently consisted of two double chops (two rib bones each chop). But the rib meat at the end of the bond had been cut such that only half the expected meat was present: two bones and the meat of only one. Kind of a sneaky thing it seemed to me. 10/10 recommend! I've been to Troya twice (once in 2020 and once more recently) due to a friends recommendation. The food has been incredible both times and the staff are kind, helpful and thoughtful (especially when it comes to dietary needs). Stopped here for the first time to get a take-out dinner. Ordered two dishes from the dinner menu. The lamb/hummus appetizer was literally 4 tablespoons of hummus and a small pieces of lamb. It honestly looked like it was a leftover portion of something (it was so little), and that at $14!!!! The ground meat dumplings was good and again it was a small portion for dinner. I came in for lunch on a Sunday and sat outside with my friends. It was so cold and raining but they had a little roof, but no heater. My friend and I decided to share and we ordered the Crispy Spiced Brussel Sprouts with aioli and the Shakshuka with rice instead of bread, since my friend can't eat gluten. The brussel sprouts arrived quickly and were cooked perfectly! The aioli was a perfect pairing. The shakshuka took a little longer and I was not too impressed with it. The egg was cooked well and the rice was good, but the sauce wasn't very flavorful and didn't taste fresh. However, maybe we just ordered the wrong thing since the sprouts were so good. Great experience at Troya. was surprised to find the renovation after looking at prior photos of the interior, but the environment was very warm, welcoming, and pleasant. Though the Grilled Halloumi was not on the menu, I had asked if the kitchen could still serve some after seeing it in past Yelp reviews and the staff was very accommodating - Thank you! Overall, the food was great and so were the drinks. The food was very flavorful and the portions were fantastic for the price points. A pleasant surprise for San Francisco. The Vegetarian Feast for two was a great way to sample a bunch of their offerings, and we were started with a Greek salad (greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, green olives, and cubes of feta); roasted cauliflower served over tzatziki; and crispy Brussels sprouts with aioli. But my favorite item from the set menu was the Mezze Plate, a colorful platter with muhammara topped with walnuts, creamy tzatziki, hummus topped with fried chickpeas, two crispy falafels, and two dolmas, along with sliced cucumbers, radishes, cherry tomatoes, and pita bread for dipping! All of the flavors of the mezze plate were fresh and vibrant, and the presentation was beautiful too. The final item that came with the set menu was the Vegetable Moussaka, a baked casserole made of layers of sliced eggplant, potatoes, tomato sauce, and bechamel sauce, served with a chewy jasmine rice pilaf topped with almonds. We also ordered the Braised Lamb Shoulder, which came with pieces of shredded lamb mixed with almonds and raisins, surrounding a mound of rice topped with creamy tzatziki and spicy harissa. This dish was nicely balanced in flavor and texture--the fatty meat, the crunchy almonds, the sweet raisins, the creamy tzatziki, the spicy harissa, and the chewy rice pilaf all came together in perfect bites. My husband and I shared a shakshuka and assortment of dips with a side of hot tea, all very flavorful and satisfying for a light brunch. Came here a while ago and did the veg platter, which came with so much variety. There were three of us splitting, so they were nice enough to give us an extra baklava as well. The indoors was super nice and was fairly busy on a Friday night. It was great to be able to try so many different things for a super fair price point.
