I write this review as I'm settling in from getting home from the gym. I say that because this is one of my many cheat day haunts. I say it's a cheat day because there's no way you can eat here everyday and live to tell about it. This is your typical burger stand. The ones that take forever because they're actually cooking your food to order and it's not under some heat lamp. The ones that serve you a burger, not some lame piece of meat between some stale bread. The ones that deep fry everything they can get their hands on and serve it up to you. We always drive by Troy's on our way home from the grocery store and we just knew we had to check it out. I knew exactly what to expect. A dining room that was kinda clean, but food that was really good. That's exactly what I got. I ordered the chili cheese fries and they're a good size for 1 person. They aren't some ginormous portion, but definitely were bomb. The bf ordered the cheeseburger and some onion rings. All of it was good. Whenever I come here, the food is always good. However, I never have any problems unless I come with a white person. I understand they are very busy on weekends, but I waited 30 minutes for two breakfast burritos as I watched people who ordered after us get their food before us. When I told the workers we had been waiting a while, they just stared at me and didn't apologize. The parking lot is god awful, do NOT try to park in it. Tacos are pretty large but grossly greasy, I even got a piece of bone in the meat. Cheeseburgers and fries are good just stay away from the tacos, especially if you have a sensitive stomach, the amount of grease that's used for the tacos is honestly really gross. read more

This place is just so special to me, because it was my go-to for me and my family growing up in Orange. I liken it to Dillon, Texas' finest Panther Pizza establishment, if you know what I mean. I used to ride my bike here and get a junior hamburger and fries, with a soda in a styrofoam cup to boot with my allowance saved from change in my piggy bank, or whatever money I could scrape up from around the house. Maybe it's because it was my first taste at a "gourmet" burger growing up that wasn't from the other fast food places, but I've always thought they got the classic American combo just right. Their onion rings are also delicious. Sadly, I haven't tried their "famous breakfast burritos" (I know, pathetic, as Ken. K points out). 8 hours of Black Friday shopping (11PM-7AM) later..... 4 starving college kids with bloodshot eyes and failing coherency arrive looking for a warm snack, or anything warm really. At 7:30AM, we go for their famous breakfast burritos ($5.50). I settle for bacon to split because my boyfriend can't stand ham or sausage. Cut down the middle, it really doesn't look like anything special. But with the first bite, my sinuses began to clear, the blood began to flow (i'm being a bit dramatic here but after my first legitimate all-nighter, it was a glorious occasion). It was a pretty dang good burrito and the special salsa sauce that's inside! YUM. Next time I'll come back for other foods. But for now, Troy's is really a hole-in-the-wall gem that's worth trying. read more

Definitely not a top 10 breakfast burrito in OC. I read the reviews and was in for the experience. I got the bacon burrito and it was a typical experience at best. The hash browns were pretty much mashed potatoes, and if it had cheese, I was unable to find it. I will come back and give it one more chance to try the chorizo one but I will have to order the hash browns very well done. read more

I drove past this place so many times and always saw a line. I just had to stop in and see what it was all about. OMG the food is so good here. I have tried a little bit of everything on the menu and have not been disappointed. For breakfast I usually get the egg and ham sandwich or the breakfast burrito. Kids love the hamburgers. Bads: This place gets hella crowed on weekends. Phone orders are a must unless you want to wait awhile to get your food. Parking can also be bad and somewhat hazardous when you pull out of the lot due to obstructed view of on coming traffic. I ate at Troys on Memorial Day with my boyfriend, we were so happy they were open on the holiday! Menu is what you would expect from a roadside burger joint, we ordered the bacon avocado cheeseburger, chili fries, and a shake. I saw a pastrami sandwich on the menu and requested an off the menu pastrami cheeseburger which they kindly made, score! Food was bomb, we both agreed the chili fries were perfect. Huge, cheap, deliciously bad for you breakfast burritos done in two shakes of a lamb's tail! I've only ever been here for breakfast, but I've been a few times, which is saying something, since I have to take all surface streets to get there. I've never eaten inside, but it looks kinda small, not for a really big group. There are also old burger joint style attached benches/table outside. I've always just called on my way there and then gone to the pick up window. The parking lot is on a pretty steep incline, so check your hydraulic lift if you're gonna roll in in your hooptie. Blink and you might miss it, since it's pretty inconspicuous looking. When you're hungover on a Sunday morning... this is where you wanna be eating. read more

While it's not the healthiest for you... I visit Troy's every Saturday morning for the best breakfast burrito around. I have been going here for over 20 years and they still have the same consistent good quality burritos. They are very generously stuffed with eggs, cheese, (sausage in my case, but they offer ham, bacon and you can do 1/2 and 1/2 if you want to split them) home made style hash browns and the most flavorful salsa! The perfect breakfast burrito. You can order it with ham or sausage or bacon or chorizo. I had the one with chorizo. I have never had a chorizo burrito that was not dripping with oil until now. I got to experience the flavor of the chorizo without the added grease or mess. read more

This place has the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. I get the ham and bacon breakfast burrito, with salsa inside and a side of salsa too. The bacon is crispy and they do not cheap out on their meat portion. Their salsa is also very good. It's a green sauce, and they don't charge extra if you want a side of it, which is great. The breakfast burritos are huge, enough for 2 people or you can eat it for 2 meals. It's under $6, which is a great deal. Be prepared for an awesome burrito! I wish I had the option of giving negative stars. We have tried this place twice. The first time we had their avocado burgers which were good. However, we went there this Sunday 3/2/14 and ordered their "famous breakfast burritos." We ordered bacon burritos with a side of one red and one green salsa. We ate the burritos with the red sauce and it was okay, nothing special in my opinion. Later that night both me and my husband had horrible stomach ache and ended up having diarrhea all night and early Monday mining. It was horrible. I don't want to get into detail about our stomach issues but lets just say we're not going back there anytime soon. Idk if it was the burrito or the salsa. But it for sure was something from troys because that's all we ate all day. Needless to say we don't plan to go back here. I hope no one else got sick that day. Regardless of what you think of the food, which I think can be pretty good, the customer service is horrible. The lady who wears glasses at the window and takes your order (I've dealt with her several times now), is always rude and shouldn't be representing Troy's customer service. I have said before, it goes against my nature to give a perfect score but, there are exceptions to every rule and Troy's is one. You don't mess with something that has worked for so long. Breakfast Burrito's... The best!!! Nuf said. Double bacon cheeseburger, fries with ranch dressing and a chocolate shake... the perfect meal!!! Ohhh.... almost forgot... fried zucchini!!! Yum! This is a neighborhood drive-in. If you live in the area you have been here. If you've lived in the area more than a couple of years, you have been here a few times and the owner and employee's recognize you and treat you like family. Yes - the breakfast burritos are worth the hype! The hubs and I stopped by Troy's to check out their infamous breakfast burrito and we were not disappointed. We got there around 8:00am so we got their before the morning rush. We only waited about 5 minutes for our food. The burritos are massive and no joke. I opted for bacon as my choice of meat and they were generous with the bacon and the rest of the filling. I didn't realize how spicy the salsa was going to be - so if you don't like heat - opt for no salsa. read more

Been going to this place since high school. Everyone used to ditch class in the morning to go get a breakfast burrito. Trust me, it's worth getting in trouble for. This place is your little hole in the wall with delicious, FAT, comfort food. Breakfast burrito is the thing to get if your an early riser because they stop serving them after 11. Other faves: Gyros and fried zucchini with ranch (they got the good ranch). Oh and their cheeseburgers are pretty good too! Not to mention they have the best crushed ice for your beverages! Come here for the breakfast burritos! Some things can be so simple but executed so well that you wonder how such magic is created. Troys breakfast burritos are a prime example of that. Wrapped in a large tortilla you get the options between a few types of meat: Ham, sausage, bacon and chorizo. Each burrito has three eggs which you can opt for egg whites if you fancy that, pretty excellent! In addition to the meat and eggs they toss in hash-browns and cheese plus their famous green sauce. They do not budge for hungover hungry individuals, so don't try asking if they'll still make you a burrito. So on attempt number 2, we made sure we had plenty of time. We got a little overzealous and ordered 3 breakfast burritos, one sausage, one chorizo and one bacon. I felt it was your typical hole in the wall breakfast burrito. It's greasy, filled with hashbrowns and has that string/melty cheese that sticks to your face after every bite. It's a two-hander and turns into a brick once it gets cold. They give you some salsa on the side, which is okay, and send you on your way. Good to hit up if you need something to sop up all the residual booze in your stomach. I gave this spot a one star because the food was good. But the service is terrible. It's dirty and the tables had a lot of mosquitos. As I ordered my food the person that was taking my order was giving me an attitude. Once I was done ordering I asked if they could please clean one of the tables. The old man grabbed a white towel and threw it at me. I asked him if he was giving it to me to clean it on my own or what was that all about.
